Discuss Leviticus 3

    Brother Chris.

    Part 2.

Some dispensations can be divided up into smaller dispensations, and they can be given different names. However, one thing is clear, there are dispensations and they are governed by different over-arching themes.

There is also the matter of "carryovers" during the transition from one dispensation to another. Each dispensation commonly includes:

Certain ordinances that were valid and continue to be valid in the new dispensation. A good example is the command to not eat blood, first given to Noah ( Genesis 9:4), then to Moses ( Leviticus 3:17) and was even carried over into the so-called dispensation of Grace at the Council of Jerusalem ( Acts 15:29).

Other regulations that were valid until then are annulled and do not continue into the new dispensation. An example of this is the freedom to eat any meat, which is actually a reversal back to a previous dispensation where God commanded Noah to eat "every moving thing that liveth" ( Genesis 9:3).

New principles not valid before are introduced in the new dispensation. The Mosaic Law is a dramatic illustration of this. A large portion of the Law introduced new principles.

Promises given in one dispensation are carried over and fulfilled in another dispensation. Many of the promises to the nation of Israel, to Abraham and to David are yet to be fulfilled, but will be fulfilled during the Millennium.

Some things instituted in one dispensation may be elaborated or modified in a later dispensation. An excellent example of this is the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus takes the written laws one step further-not only is it wrong to murder, but if you hate, you have already committed murder in your heart.

I was entering the grocery store the other day, and noticed a man who was wearing a very small suit. He was wearing big sunglasses. I turned to him and said that he looked the weather man on t.v.. His reply was that he was his son!

I immediately for one instant thought this person was an angel. I immediately thought of Christ! When He had said that he was the weatherman's Son, everything came into perspective, that Jesus is living among us! That Jesus is the weatherman's son, that He lives and dwells among us in everyday life!

    Leviticus Chapter 3

    ...continued

The fat is considered the best part, especially the tail of the sheep (it is a delicacy). God deserves the best of our abundance and what we have had an increase of. We should willingly want to bring Him the best of what we are able to offer. But more importantly, Jesus is the ultimate Best that God could offer for us. There is no one more valuable that Jesus and His sacrifice is beyond any else that could be considered a full payment for our sinfulness. He is the absolute pure and spotless One Who alone is worthy to not only be the One who secured our salvation, but also worthy of all glory, honor, and praise from all created beings.

And, for us, it is the most worthwhile thing for us to have peace with God and be able to enter into fellowship with Him without any encumbrances or obstacles. Jesus is our Peace who has broken down every wall.

In meals that were common (and not this specific peace offering) the Israelites could eat of this fat. But for this sacred ordinance, they could not. Even so, there is unseen fat within all flesh we eat. We may just not be able to detect it. So, allegorically, God has hidden some of the riches of His grace within us that will be revealed to us in the abundance of life we have in the Spirit and in our daily walk. We are being changed from glory to glory into the image of Jesus. Such a beautiful thought.

    Leviticus Chapter 3

In chapter 1 was the burnt sacrifice for the atonement for sin. It represents the sacrifice of Jesus shedding His blood unto death on the cross for our sins.

In chapter 2 was the offering of grain, bread, fruits and vegetables. It represents faith and sanctification. We are sanctified and set apart for the Father through the death AND resurrection of Jesus. He won the victory for us over sin and purified believers as a people for God's favor.

In this chapter, the peace offering is detailed. This represents peace with the Father, which Jesus is for us. he is our Peace. It is Jesus who reconciled us to the Father so that we can have harmony, prosperity, happiness, friendship, fellowship, and unity with Him and with one another.

The text describes three types of peace offerings: cattle from the herd; sheep from the flock; and goats from the herd.

Whichever animal one determines to bring to the LORD through the priest, each are to be slaughtered at the entrance to the tent of meeting. The offerer is the one who cuts the throats, and the priest is the one who sprinkles the blood all over the altar.

The priest then cuts up the animal, reserving all of the visible, visceral fat specified to be burned on the altar (being put on top of the burnt offering that is already on the altar from either the morning or evening sacrifice.)

Then the offerer and the priest (and family members of both parties) consume the remainder of the meat from the animal as a meal together. This is to signify that because of the blood sacrifice for the atonement for sin and the sanctifying offering, this peace offering comes next. It follows the two previous works of Christ, our priest and also sacrifice.

The text emphasizes strongly that the fat belongs to the LORD. It is set apart and considered holy. The offerer nor the priests are to eat this fat. it is to be totally burned on the altar for God. The fat represents abundance and health, blessing and richness.

    Hello, Esmeralda

When the Holy Spirit makes us aware that we have sinned, we are to agree with the Spirit that what he pointed out to us is a sin and then confess that we are sorrowful about having done it and wish to not do it again, asking the Spirit to help us to resist it next time. We can believe what Scripture says, that he is faithful and just to forgive us. 1John 1:8-10.

We can walk in newness, knowing that we have been forgiven and cleansed from our sin. There is no sacrifice or "penance" we need to do to bring about forgiveness of our sins or make us right with God. We are just asked to believe and look to Jesus for all or our salvation.

As far as someone who isn't a believer, I am not sure if you are asking about how to tell this person about salvation in Jesus or how to address them about a sin in their lives. So, please respond back so we can know better what you are asking.

What should we do now in these to bring a sacrifice to lord when we sin or do something that we shouldn't do as Christians ? or how should we advice for a person who don't know God.

To the best of my understanding, it's because the sin has to be paid for. The payment for sin is blood because the wages of sin is death. There's some kind of connection between the physical things going on in this world and the spiritual world.

Genesis 9:4 Only, you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.

Exodus 24:8 Moses took the blood and dashed it on the people, and said, 'See the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.'

Leviticus 3:17 It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations, in all your settlements: you must not eat any fat or any blood.

Leviticus 7:26 - 27 You must not eat any blood whatever, either of bird or of animal, in any of your settlements. Any one of you who eats any blood shall be cut off from your kin.

Leviticus 17:10 - 12 [ Eating Blood Prohibited ] If anyone of the house of Israel or of the aliens who reside among them eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats blood, and will cut that person off from the people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you for making atonement for your lives on the altar; for, as life, it is the blood that makes atonement. Therefore I have said to the people of Israel: No person among you shall eat blood, nor shall any alien who resides among you eat blood.

Leviticus 17:14 For the life of every creature-its blood is its life; therefore I have said to the people of Israel: You shall not eat the blood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.

Matthew 26:28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Mark 14:24 He said to them, 'This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.

Luke 22:20 And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.

John 6:54 - 56 Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them.

Did anyone notice that the burnt offering for atonement had to be a male without blemish and the peace offering could be either a male or female without blemish?

IT IS GODS WILL THAT WE SHOULD OBEY. I MIGUEL.A.COTRICH OBEY GODS WILL WHEN HE GAVE ME SOME THING TO TESTIFIED A TESTIMONY THAT HE GAVE ME TO TESTIFIED OF HOW THIS GOVERNMENT WAS GOING TO BE CORRUPTED I NEVER REJECTED JESUS CHRIST SIGN, AND I PAYED THE PRICE BY BECOMING TOTALLY, AND PERMANETLY DISABLED. I DO NOT REGRET ANY THING THAT I DID FOR JESUS CHRIST.IT SHOULD SIMPLY TELL US THAT GODS IS JUST NOT INTERESTED IN OUR SERVICES, AND OFFERINGS BUT RATHER INTERESTED IN THE QUALITY OF SERVICE, AND OFFERING WE GIVE HIM. IF WE WANT GOD TO HONOUR, AND ACCEPT OUR LIVES, SERVICE, AND OFFERING,THEN THEY MUST BE WITH OUT BLEMIST OR SPOT OF BLAME,THEY MUST BE FREE OF SIN, AND FREE OF SINFUL MOTIVES OR DISPOSITION BUT HOLY, AND WHOLLY OFFERED YIELDED UNTO THE LORD. THIS WHAT GOD DEMANDS FROM US ROMANS 12: VRS 1-2. EVERY OFFERING OR EVERY THING THAT IS FOR THE LORD IS THE MOST ABOVE ALL. AND OUR HEART SHOULD BE CENTERED HIM AS WE PRAISE HIM ALSO IN TIME OF OUR GIVEN.I MIGUEL.A.COTRICH DID ALL OF THIS, AND MY HEART IS CENTER ON JESUS CHRIST MY PROOF IS I DID NOT REJECTED JESUS CHRIST FOR MY SON, AND HE IS MAD ABOUT THAT.

Giving sacrifice unto God with your whole heart is good and it attracts God 's blessings to our lives
  • Joseph Appiah on Leviticus 3 - 10 years ago
Once again, we see the repetitive demand of the LORD for an offering without blemish in verses 1 and 6 of this chapter. This was demanded in chapter 1 vrs 3 and is repeated twice in this chapter and other places in the Bible. It should simply tell us that God is not just interested in our services and offerings but rather interested in the quality of service and offering we give Him. If we want God to honour and accept our lives, services and offerings, then they must be without blemish or spot of blame, they must be free of sin and free of sinful motives or disposition but holy and wholly offered and yielded unto the LORD. This is what God demands and requested of us in Romans 12 vrs 1 and 2. I pray God helps us to honour and meet His demand for our lives in Jesus name, Amen. God richly bless you all.
