In my opinion, just because someone claims ownership of something doesn't mean they really do. The Bible says satan rules the world, but we still have to live here and that doesn't mean I'm doing satanic things by any means, the opposite. I reject pagan or evil ownership of everything they claim. For example, Christmas, it's the one day a year some people go to church and hear about Jesus and I don't think that should be thrown away just because someone claims there's pagan ties. There's actually evidence that Christians did already celebrate Dec 25th first before pagans claimed it, so I reject the enemy's claims on my life. God is the judge. A ring too is Biblical and not pagan: Luke 15:22

Carol read the Bible for its not what someone thinks but what sayeth the Lord. Luke 15:11-32
    II Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Remember to use this scripture if you ever come across a Jehovah's Witness, as it completely debunks their shunning doctrine especially regarding family.

Steve Currie, read Romans 12:1-2 Luke 15:3-7. Also, the will of God for you is to stay in God's word daily. God will bless you.

Luke 15:1-2 Jesus message is on SALVATION, and many people came to hear Jesus message but, notice there are those of the people who were against both Jesus and others of the people, especially against those who desired to hear the message of SALVATION.

When we sin, so many times, we do not see it for ourselves. The son that had stayed with the the father, was full of pride, and it blinded him. Yes, sometimes, we look at things in a earthly way, but never look on why are we feeling this way, and if you do, the road leads back to sin in our hearts. God is not a respecter of persons. Sometimes, like David, have to impress themselves in the Lord.

  • Steve on Luke 15 - 6 years ago
It takes what the younger son endured to seek mercy from God. And, God is One, not three, as Christians seem to think. Jesus represents the end of our faith, once we recognize the Truth, last the body is mortal, obviously, but the Spirit is everlasting, and the gift, which the other son took for granted, is given to those who read and understand the Word, the truth and live their lives according

Verse 32~The loving father was trying to encourage the older son to be forgiving. His brother was spiritually dead and the father was happy that he repented and was not literally dead. We must show mercy to those who are repentant.

Jesus spoke of the woman and the 10 pieces of silver ( Luke 15:8-10). the Woman is Zion ( Jeremiah 6:2), and the 10 pieces are each of his commandments ( Psalms 12:6). AND the one piece that went missing is his Fourth Commandment. You cannot find the missing piece without the light ( Psalms 18:28).

Luke 15:24 - For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
  • A disciple on Luke 15 - 6 years ago
One thing is clearly missing from the younger son's repentance and return to his father; and that is the popular but unscriptural idea of "accepting Jesus!" When he came to himself and saw his dreadful condition as it truly was; the result of his sins! He saw himself as unfit to even be called a son! He didn't say, O father, now I accept you! but, Father, I am not worthy, BUT PLEASE ACCEPT ME!
  • A disciple on Luke 15 - 6 years ago
"I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance." The comparison between "one sinner that repents," and, "just persons who need no repentance," is not to say that there is a class of people who don't need to repent; but that holier than thou despising of others IS NOT THE ATTITUDE OF HEAVEN!
  • Eutychus on Luke 15 - 6 years ago
"And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends". Would to God we had sons like this today. Nor was I a son such as this one. I was the prodigal. How would this world be, if all sons were like this today? The prodigal son returned as well...

Pursue after Christ like the shepherd pursued after the one lost sheep.

  • A disciple on Luke 15 - 7 years ago
Son of David; I like your kind and non-condemning way to look at it, but I think the younger son was rather looking for the party than a way to make his living. He squandered all his money on sin and selfishness, and brought disgrace to his father's name; and his repentance was marked by acknowledging the truth that he was not fit to be called anymore a son, and acceptance of his punishment.
  • Son of David on Luke 15 - 7 years ago
The prodigal son did what everyone does. He goes off into the world seeking his fortune, his way in the world. For some find great wealth but it doesn't sustain them. Some fall between the cracks and are in want. It is they who are most likely to return to the Father and ask for forgiveness. And the Father will turn none away who ask. Those still in the world will not ask.

Verse 20: The merciful father of this parable represents our loving heavenly Father, Jehovah God. He is not only willing but he is eager to forgive repentant sinners.
  • Eric on Luke 15 - 7 years ago
Jesus has already forgiven us, even in the middle of our transgression. All we need to do is accept His forgiveness.
  • Jerry on Luke 15 - 7 years ago
verse 20-Two points: The son was always a son before, during and after his departure. He didn't waste his being a son. He wasted his connection, benefit, relationship, enjoyment of being a son. He didn't return asking to be a son again. He was hungry. His hunger is what brought him home.
The main character in the story is the father. He ran to his son and welcomed him home before his son spoke
