Paul was speaking of the Olive tree which began with Abraham a promise again made by God to him that he would deliver his people the Jew , who bragged about being God's chosen and we gentiles were heathens without God this is what he is referring to here. we are grafted in because of their boasting and denying of Christ . Luke 16:22-25 shows who Abraham was and do not call him unclean, God's heart

verse 9, GOD know all us stewards are caught, all failed by sin, and that day of eternal punishment await us if we remain na ve- rather than applying street-smart wisdom, thereby secure Everlasting Habitation through John 3:16-21, and avoid hell, and the-lake-of-fire. Luke 16:19-31, Revelation 20:14-15.
  • Obbie Beal on Luke 16 - 5 years ago
verse 9: we stewards in 1-8 applied street-smart wisdom, an commendable action, to secure ourselves from struggling to survive or beg, but as it relates to entering Everlasting Habitation with GOD, such action of us stewards will not get our name on -GOD Guest List- for The Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Rev.19:7-8. Note: Jesus mind is on Salvation.
  • Obbie Beal on Luke 16 - 5 years ago
verse 9 Note: -In this case- Jesus know we stewards have turned our love for mammon, money, into an deadly-idol, so Jesus very-strongly challenged us to consider, when we fail, -PROVE- whether or not having favor with mammon, money, or rich people, can provide us Everlasting Habitation.
  • Obbie Beal on Luke 16 - 5 years ago
verse 9, Note: through this strong challenge to us, while we have breath in our body, Jesus is attempting to get us to not be naive to the fact that only GOD can give Everlasting Habitation, Salvation.
  • Obbie Beal on Luke 16 - 5 years ago
verse 9, Note: in the same breath of 1-8, Jesus continue using a story to hopefully opening our eyes. So Jesus issue a very strong challenge to all us: .AND I say unto you, make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness that, when ye fail, they may receive you into Everlasting Habitations!!!...
  • Obbie Beal on Luke 16 - 5 years ago
verse 9, Note: -as it relates to the actions of this unfaithful steward, it is said- .for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light . Note: remember, Jesus mind is still on SALVATION.

God. Lucifer started imagining things in vain, God saw his thoughts and knew what's on his heart. Then he became Satan...after the fall. It's the only explanation about Lucifer's mind, how he wanted to be like GOD. Good question though. Why he corrupt himself if he was God's creation and perfect from the start. Maybe angels are not so different from man, absolute power corrupts absolutely...
  • Obbie Beal on Luke 16 - 5 years ago
verse 1, Note: Jesus mind is on SALVATION for me and you at this moment Jesus is keenly aware GOD is the The-Riches in all the heavens and earth also man and woman are made in the image of GOD thereby are Stewards-of-GOD one-way or another
  • Obbie Beal on Luke 16 - 5 years ago
verse 1, furthermore Jesus knows Life, Time, Earth, are the primary-riches of GOD, and are by measure directly entrusted to each of us daily, individually and collectively, thereby all are a steward by GOD for GOD to manage for GOD whether saved or unsaved.
  • Obbie Beal on Luke 16 - 5 years ago
verse 2-7, Note: this steward acknowledge he is caught doing wrong and no longer has favor with this rich-man, plus he knows he will receive punishment which includes back to hard-labor surviving from the streets also this steward knows and apply street-smart wisdom so he can avoid the harsh punishment of street surviving.
  • Obbie Beal on Luke 16 - 5 years ago
verse 2-7 Note:-so, while this steward has opportunity, he uses the authority he has and SECURE his future by creating favor with others who would help him in time of need.
  • Obbie Beal on Luke 16 - 5 years ago
verse 8, Note: this rich-man understand wisdom and knows what is going-on with his steward, thereby complemented his un-faith-ful steward for having foresight and timely using foresight to AVOID the harsh punishment the unfaithful steward is predestine to receive.

Luke 16:19-31 tells us a lot about hell. The rich ruler passed over in a conscious state. He had his five senses and it appear his senses was heighten after death. He could see Abraham and Lazarus from a far off. The rich ruler could feel torment, thirst, aware of his location and condition and he had memory of his family. We must share the Gospel - John 3:16

Mary, no it doesn't. The point is the negotiated settlement with his master's debtors which put money or assets immediately in his hands he didn't falsify the bills he merely made a better deal for his master and his debtors after he had stolen from him. Jesus is encouraging Christians to imitate the wisdom of the steward working with the people to get his master some assets back v8. Glorify God!
  • Mary on Luke 16 - 6 years ago
It is confusing, why did the lord commend the unjust servant? Does this mean the master thought that he was wise in falsifying his bills? Don't understand.

There is no time that the law and prophets stop speaking to us. They continue to speak to this day. According to Romans 12:4 whatsoever things were written afore time was written for our learning. That we through faith and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

I agree with Eutychu. After John, we are no longer controlled by the law. Jesus has been teaching this thru the gospels. When Jesus was crucified, God tore ths temple vail to show. Paul emphasizing the thru the book of Galations. We are now new creations controlled by the holy spirit.

  • Eutychus on John 5 - 6 years ago
"Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath," Yes, Jesus, who never sinned, broke the Sabbath. But WHEN he broke the Sabbath, it was no longer the law, "For all the prophets and the law prophesied UNTIL JOHN." Matt 11:13, and, "The law and the prophets WERE UNTIL JOHN"... Luke 16:16. The law spoke only until John the Baptist. No sin then, to break it.
  • Eutychus on John 1 - 6 years ago
John's writings are unmistakable. He writes in a "Universal" manner, seeing the whole of creation and our places in it. His burden was love, His Lord was Jesus. Would that could be said of us. John writes of John Baptist, who he calls a man sent from God. John the Baptist denied being Elijah, but Jesus said he was ( Matt 11:14). John was the living end of the law. Matt 11:13, Luke 16:16.
