Dear Brother, marriage takes time. When the bible said the two will become one flesh, it does not happen over night. Jesus is saying in verse 18, if you marry someone who was put away, you will be committing adultery. God hates divorce, and yet Moses because of the hardness of their hearts suffered it when infidelity was done. Let not man put asunder them that God hath joined together. Jesus loved the Church, and gave his life for the Church. While we were sinners Christ died for us. Husbands are to love their wives the same way Jesus loves the Church. Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. When you do this you will be able to love your wife as yourself. Live with your wife according to knowledge, as the weaker vessel. Be kind, tender, and forgiving even as God for Christ sake forgave you. Read the bible together, and go to Church together.Pray that the Lord will enable the two of you to become the one flesh that God has planned for you in your marriage. Divorce is not an option, and don't let the devil tempt you with that. Marriage is a covenant till death do ye part. May the Lord bless your marriage, and may your love grow stronger for your wife.
I think Jesus meant that, embrace the riches of this world (unrighteousness mammon) which will enable you into the privilege of tithing, giving to the poor, give generously to those in need, clothe them, buy them food. Using the earthly wealth to serve God so that the seed you have planted on earth (as per the book of Revelation) where we will be judged by the works we did as it is written in the second book of our deeds) Therefore this wealth would have opened an opportunity to us to serve God with it hence the good works and fruits that emanated from the unrighteousness mammom will welcome us into everlasting habitation. See verse 11' it says if you cannot be trusted with the unrighteousness mammon how can you be trusted with the holy incorruptible wealth in heaven?
Luke Chapter 16:16-31 The Rich Man and Lazarus
The Rich Man and Lazarus
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that [would come] from thence.
27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
The body return to the dust of the earth, but the spirit of man liveth. The born again Spirit liveth in Heaven and the unborn again spirit is bound in Torment or, Hell.
Besides...the dead is not allowed to communicate with the living without a body...that's why Lord Jesus the Christ had to have a body to communicate with and to us Salvation. And yes the Spirit of man continues to live and can see, but not communicate.
Now I believe that sometimes our Heavenly Holy Father will allow their works through the Holy Spirit to speak to us when we are troubled. Remember the old saying; I can't hear what you are saying for what you are doing... Sometimes what a person had done leaves a greater affect, or impression than their words.
29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
It is not about frightening one to accept CHRIST, for CHRIST died and risen and lives forever sitting at the right hand of our Heavenly Father on the Thorn in Heaven and has given to man His Free Will to choose... Salvation.
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
From this chapter on, the millinium is described, beginning with the building of the temple. The millinium is also known as "The day of the Lord" and is a 1,000 year time of teaching for those who didn't make it to the right side of the gulf in heaven. Side notes: We know from II Peter 3:8 that a day with the Lord is as 1,000 years with man. The gulf (or in the manuscripts, "laceration") is spoken of by Luke in the parable of Lazarus and the rich man, Luke 16:19..
Matthew 11:12
From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.
This is another difficult verse in the bible. Different teachers have different views. But with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and with the exegesis from the context, I come to this conclusion.
The back ground story is as follows. John the baptist was in the prison for the cost of the kingdom of heaven. He began to have some doubt about Jesus Christ as the messiah.
So he sent his disciples to ask Jesus.
Then Jesus replied with what he was doing. He healed the sick. He raised the dead. He preached the good news of the kingdom of heaven. They were enough proofs of his Messianic
After that, to the crowd , he said, “ From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.
I believe that Jesus Christ was targeting to the ones who believed in him.
This is my paraphrase. Jesus Christ said, “John the baptist has already entered into the kingdom of heaven. Now he is advancing in and for the kingdom of heaven. So the enemies put him in prison. But John and the other strong men did not give up. They take hold of the advancement
of the kingdom of heaven. They kept on marching, for the victory was sure. Do not be discouraged or dismayed. Blessed is the one who does not fall away on account of me. Know that I am.”
Another related verse is Luke 16:16.
The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.
Here Jesus replied to the Pharisees, who loved money and who were sneering at Jesus, when he said, “No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and wealth.”
So, this is my understanding. Pharisees try to enter into the kingdom of heaven with their own way. But they will never be allowed.
They need to humble themselves, fighting against their pride. They need to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Messiah. Only then will they be accepted into the kingdom of heaven.
But every one who humbles himself, overcoming against his pride, is welcome into the kingdom of heaven. The Holy Spirit gives them power to come to Jesus Christ.
There will be oppositions against the kingdom of heaven, whether entering into or advancing for the kingdom of God. The oppositions are either inside of a man or outside.
The story of Lazarus is the main parable in this chapter. The poor man who suffered in this world was given his reward for he did no evil to anyone. But the rich man fared sumptuously, feasting on worldly pleasures, never going beyond and therefore he had his reward in the desolation, and the abomination of this earthly place where greed, selfishness, self-indulgence, lechery, incontinence reign. But Abraham received the beggar into his bosom, into his Heart, where there is peace and faithfullness. And further states that the rich man's bretheren have Moses and the Prophets. They are suffient for they were the teachers of our High Priest, Jesus Christ, or The Christ, the Messiah, the First born of the Dead. Though he were resurected yet they will not believe. We must read the whole bible to get the whole truth.
Luke 16:18 Marriage should abide until the death separates the two because when one of the couple commits adultery should not get married to another person because he/she will be committing adultery so married people should be faithful to their partners knowing that marriage is a covenant which should not be broken.
When I begin to understood (with my limited knowledge) what Luke 16:27-31 was saying, I was confused. Because my Pastor taught me the dead can NOT come back and tell anyone anything. I said Pastor thats not true. He said are you calling the Bible a lie? I said no sir. I am going on my own experience. My father died when I was 12 or 13. I became rebellious and would not listen to my mother. I had a dream about my father - he was bigger than life. He was coming after me because I was being disobedient, he wanted me to straighten up. Believe me when I tell you - it worked.
That each person who received Jesus Christ as their Personal Lord and Savior must reach their love ones so that they will not experienced eternal life in Hell.. and our accountability will not be question.
The only problem with a book like that is that any Joe Schmo can find it (or even make it up) and claim it as a "lost book of the Bible". The Apocrypha, for instance, has very questionable validity, as it often contradicts other scriptures.
And you also have this:
“For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” Matthew 5:18
and this:
“And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one pronunciation mark of the law to fail.” Luke 16:17
and this:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1
What am I getting at? What I'm getting at is this: The word has been around since the beginning, since the word is GOD. It shall not pass away until all is fulfilled. That means that there wouldn't be a section of time where the word was "lost" and not known to exist. It would be silly for GOD to have a system exist for thousands of years to only throw at "oh, by the way" at us like John Carpenter throws plot twists. Sure, you could say that even if no one knew about the word of GOD, the word would still exist. However, I say this: If no one knew about the law of stopping at a red light, would anyone obey it? Would it be enforced? The answer is no. It would be as if the law never existed. If someone were to find this law again, it would be remembered, and exist again. However, GOD's law never passes away, so there can't be any "lost" books. The word has been around forever. Read your King James Bibles, be satisfied with them. Everything you need to know is in there. If you can't find the answer to something, pray about it. All things will become known to us in time.
This is no time (2010) to be wrong about whether there is a heaven and hell. What is true is that when a person truly surrenders their whole life over to Jesus, their eyes are undeniably Opened. To eat of the forbidden fruits of this world only blinded Adam and Eve, as it does any of us who go that route.
Darren: There is most certainly a literal hell, more is taught in the bible about hell then heaven! Hell is no joke it is a literal place. You are right in saying that God doesnt send anyone to hell, its a choice the individual makes, people send themselves to hell.
I'm sorry if you took my comment the wrong way.
there is no hell as a place where our loving
god burns his children as a punishment for dis-
obedience.jesus was only giving an example in luke 16:23 and I was trying to be funnie.
Darren: Why would you want to see anyone in hell? I would think you would want to help people come to Jesus Christ and be saved instead of seeing anyone go to hell.
