Hi Benji, have you read James 2? It says faith without works is dead (17), and even demons believe and have faith (19), so is satan and his demons going to heaven then? Also, if faith was all that is needed for salvation, why did Jesus say otherwise? Jesus said Luke 5:32 He called sinners to repentance. Do you claim that repentance isn't necessary? If so, are we to believe you over Jesus himself? This is reinforced in other scripture too: 1 John 1:9 (says to confess), and Acts 2:38. So, I'm interested in your interpretation of these other powerful verses and why you feel repentance and confession isn't needed to become a Christian? Link
Isaiah 59:2 - God does not hear ONLY the prayers of the wicked. Luke 5:32 and Rev 3:19 - The repentive heart of the sinner, the one whom falls short, the LORD will hear. Phillipians 4:6 - Be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be known unto God.

But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? You don't have to say anything, He know your thoughts.
Jesus saw the faith of the men who brought the paralyzed man right in front of Him. They're true believers of Jesus as they overcome all obstacles just to bring their friend to Him. A person who truly believes in Jesus will bring his friends, family, or anyone right in front of Him. It takes a genuine faith of a true believer for others to be saved, to be forgiven, to be healed. Jesus knew exactly how to deal the case of the paralyzed man. Sin is the real cause of any kind of sickness and disease. The real miracle is having a restored relationship with God.
The new wine is the Gospel that Christ has brought to us. The wine skins are the forms of his parables that contain the wine. The old wine skins are the forms of Judaism and the wine it contains is old and well matured. Judaism cannot contain the new wine of the Gospel. But Jesus is not about to disparage Judaism so he says most connoisseurs of wine like the old wine best.
The whole 2nd half of this chapter is on being clean and how when you choose to follow Christ you should not evil in your life, like sinful strongholds. Verse 38 explains that new things need to be in a new container. Same for your life, when you commit to following Jesus you need to give up the corruption and sinful habits and be fully renewed and committed to Jesus. Some people may need to give up certain friends, jobs, or other temptations. Matthew 5:30
Jesus wants ALL OF HIS CHILDREN to obey and trust Him. Jesus knows everything and nothing catches Him by surprise. They fished all night and caught nothing but when Jesus spoke things changed. In HIS presence we all can expect things to change for our good. Just obey HIS WORDS.
There were two that hang on a cross with Jesus, the one on the right confessed and asked to be remembered, Jesus said today you will be with me in paradise. He wasn't baptized. Luke 5:24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, he said unto the sick of the palsy, I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
And he spake also a parable unto them No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. Jesus is saying that you can t mix the laws of Moses with the new teaching from him. I only view the Old Testament as a history lesson. I don t mix it with the New.
We can forgive offenses, only God redeems man from his sin nature. No priest, pastor, or preacher can do it either. Sin is eternal separation from God, make sure you are forgiven by Him only but strive to live in harmony with everyone...
Peter launching out, advise of Jesus. Caught his biggest draught. Only to be told by Jesus, that he will be catching Men instead. Peter just hit the Jackpot, and now he has to change Carreers. Thank God for his obedience to the commands of Jesus. Obedience is better than Sacrifice. When you think of Pentecost. Three thousand Souls were saved. Jesus knew what He could accomplish through Peter.
Our Lord came to fulfill the prophecy of the book of Esaias. The Jewish leaders were full of hypocrisy because of their own traditions. They refused the Messiah, therefore the Lord went and invited others like the gentiles to be saved. He walked among his own yet he was ignored. The parable of the old cloth and wine bottles makes reference of this, Luke 5, Vs36-38. He says preach to all nations.
Verse 13~Jesus had such great compassion that he touched the leper and let him know that he wanted to heal him. Jesus did not have to touch the leper but he wanted to show how much he cared.
"When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught (the load or quantity drawn) of the fishes which they had taken:" At first Peter thought he was a nice guy and open to Jesus; willing to do what he himself thought looked useless. But Jesus shows him something from GOD!
The garment in this parable represents the teaching of Moses and the Prophets, as of how we are clothed in heaven with our righteous acts and knowledge of the Torah. Jesus, the Messiah is meant to repair the threadbare parts but he knows the disputes that lie ahead from the leaders of the Temple. They will be threatened and rouse the people against the Christ. Jesus stay on earth was short.
"And he said to them also a likeness; For no man takes a piece from a new cloth, and puts it into an old clothing; else both he breaks the new, and the piece of the new accords not to the old." (Wycliffe Bible) We cannot "accept" Jesus into our old falling apart sin-worn lives. We must be Born From Above, Born Anew, through the Water of Life of the Word, and the Baptism in the Spirit and in Fire.
Bud, Tresspass=sin, offense, immorality, wickedness, abuse, err, unlawful act, slander, etc; whatever the case may be if we do not forgive them for the transgression, iniquity, the Lord will not forgive us. God will have the final say at the judgment seat, so we had better take care of it, before we get there. . Matthew 6:15, Matt. 18:21 "brother sin against me."
LU2677; Thanks for the reply but to me there is a difference. Sin; transgression of divine law.
Trespass; in unlawful act causing injury to person, property or rights of another. In Math: he stated forgiveness against a person not GOD.
The Pharisees where about to stone a woman to death for the sin of adultery in John chapter 8. Jesus spoke for the woman and convinced the men to forgive her sin and set her free. By Jewish religious law her punishment for breaking the law of "do not commit adultery" was death but they forgave her the sin of adultery. Men can forgive sin but only by God can the dead be raised back to life.
Bud, I don't know what Insight 777 is saying about it but, Matthew 6:14,15, 18:21, talks about men forgiving other men. It is one of his commandments for his children.
Insight777: Were did you find that man can forgive sins, I can not find that in my bible. I did find were we can seek forgiveness if we repent of our sins and pray to the LORD for forgiveness.
Jesus has started to show that He is God. He heals the body as well as the soul. He forgives sin and makes one whole. Thank you Jesus, our mighty Saviour and Jehovah.
While Jesus was on earth the children partied but the time has come when he is with the Father and the children shall fast. That means we must pay attention to our life on earth. Jesus is not here to forgive sins so easily! We can't assume we are saved while leading a wretched life. If we are forgiven doesn't depend upon us but the Father. Jesus has the ear of the Father. Pray and sin not
(12-16) When any of us came to the crisis point in our life, that led us to seek cleansing and forgiveness and salvation; did any of us do it because it was popular? or because of merely seeking relief from our distresses? Why do you think, that the Lord always kept His one on one dealings with people private? He never, NEVER, used His power for advertising, as so many think they have to do!
Gift:v37-38 we are the vessel that Christ cleans up so the spirit can move-in 2nd Corinthians 5:17. I sure messed up a lot(sin). I am thankful for First John 1: 6-10, 2:1-- Satan surely knows our weakest point he will never stop his attacks on the Lords people!! Put on all of The Lords armor-- Ephesians 6:11--- ! We are surely in the birth pains! Hang on stay near the cross WE are soon going HOME.
