    In verse 14 it says, "But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, let him that readeth understand, then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains " Can someone show me by other parts of Scripture what this "abomination of desolation " is?

    It means the Gospel ain 't just for one nation or to be hidden and not shared. We are to do what we can to spread it everywhere. Not just keep it in America,England or wherever our home Country is. But it 's for every Country,and every ethnic group.

    Part 1 of 2: Hello I. Prince: Watches of night: The Jews, like the Greeks and Romans, divided the night into military watches instead of hours, each watch representing the period for which sentinels or pickets remained on duty. The proper Jewish reckoning recognized only three such watches, entitled the first or "beginning of the watches, " Lamentations 2: 19 the middle watch, Judges 7: 9 and the morning watch. Exodus 14: 24 1 Samuel 11: 11 These would last respectively from sunset to 10 P.M. from 10 P.M. to 2 A.M. and from 2 A.M. to sunrise. After the establishment of the Roman supremacy, the number of watches was increased to four, which were described either according to their numerical order, as in the case of the "fourth watch, " Matthew 13: 25 or by the terms "even, " "midnight, " "cock-crowing " and "morning. " Mark 13: 35. These terminated respectively at 9 P.M., midnight, 3 A.M. and 6 A.M. Smith Dictionary .

    there is a destruction and it is not the little ram sack burning by any roman. This is the destruction of the end at the 7th trump when Christ returns with a rod and hail stones mixed with fire and the earth is shaking. But before that happens antichrist comes,instead of Christ, to deceive the whole world and they chase after him because he looks like the Lamb with power but speaks like the dragon. Why? Because he is the dragon. Oh! No Roman ever caused the destruction that is going to happen on the Lord 's Day.
  • Solomon Waters on Mark 13 - 10 years ago
    In this chapter, Jesus is explaining two things First, what will happen from that present moment until the destruction of the temple versus 5 through 31. This is the natural judgment. Natural judgment occurred around 70AD, when the Romans sacked Jerusalem. Secondly, he talks about his coming versus 32 37. This is the spiritual judgment.

    This passage of scripture explains to me, that in the last days on earth terrible things would take place, that if your not prayed up, staying in the word of God to know the false prophet 's, people that do know the word but they deceive you. Their like wolves in sheep skin. They appear to be Christlike, but are worshippers of Satan. Even our own children, some will be used by Satan to kill there own parents. Children will disobey parents. Nothing will happen in this world that is already fore told in the bible to prepare us for the last day 's. God wants us to be wise in the things that will come on earth that may seem good, but are evil and comes from Satan. Most of this chapter is for filling itself at this very time in life as I speak. This is just the beginning of sorrows in this world. Some will want to die to escape the fate of trials that will come upon the earth, but the bible says, they will not be able to escape the prophecy told. If you are a child of God, he will rapture us up, from this evil source that will take over the world. The children of God will be hated by many, and so many will be killed because of their belief in Jesus Christ. The bible must fulfill what is written.

    I do not understand. This chapter is talking about the end of the world. In verse 30, Jesus is telling his listeners that it will happen in their lifetimes. The end of the world should have come by now but it hasn 't. Could someone clarify this for me, please?
  • Shoshanna Mashaich on Mark 13 - 10 years ago
    i think it is referring to the Twin Towers. First let no man deceive you...911 is the deception of our times. Also talking about the great buildings falling and leaving no stone upon another. Real science doesn 't support the official story. We have been deceived.

    I believe vs 32 is simply that the day Jesus returns to gather his people will be Gods decision. I hope not to offend any because I have seen out and out near "knock down drag outs " concerning the trinity, but I believe that God and Jesus are 2 separate beings, God Jesus and the Holy spirit makes them one. We read that Jesus is in heaven interceding for us, not to himself but to God. I believe when the time is right, the creator of all things God will tell Jesus to come and get us, but he 's not willing that any should perish so he is merciful and waits. I have a nephew and to look at him, is as looking at his father, its hilarious and adorable, but they are 2 separate individuals, i believe that Jesus is so pure and righteous and wonderful like God that they are one in a sense, to see one is to see the other, they share the same mercy the same thoughts the same intent and the same spirit, but I cannot get angered at those that strongly believe in the Trinity, its a waste of strength and time that could be better spent in serving, I simply feel God will make the final decision and his perfect son is in agreement with everything the father wants. its beautiful

    Shadrack St. Mark 9:7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. We as men flesh and bone what joy can a father have more than the time he spends teaching his son?
    St. John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.(before the world was) This is an eternal relationship between a Father and his Son and for this very reason Jesus Christ is the Son; the Word of God.

    The Godhead is one purpose, one mind; but I believe this is what separates the Father the Way of God, which he teaches too his Son the Word of God, and the Holy Ghost who fulfills the Will of God.

    When Jesus said pray that your flight be not in winter or on the Sabbath day, He was speaking to pregnant women in the tribulation period. This period begins with the 70th weeks of years in Daniel's prophecy which starts with the signing of the seven year peace treaty. The Antichrist comes to power when he signs what is referred to as a covenant with death and hell with Israel. Jesus said blessed the wombs that did not bare, because it will be very difficult for pregnant women in those days. This is not applicable today, but only during the tribulation period which will last seven years. Then the Messiah returns to set up His Kingdom.

    I may be reading too much into this text, Mark 13:2, but there are stones still left from the Temple, today in Israel there are tours of the remains.

    So I guess it could be the translation of "not one stone..." and focus on the bigger message that Christ is the new temple resurrected? But it bugged me which is why I'm searching for commentary.

    3 life giving spiritual relationships are made desolate by 3 abominations. These are attacks of man to man, man's spiritual to physical nature and man to God. The Great whore is the mother of abominations who indulges in self-service, - Serve God alone -, causing one to live for bread alone, ignoring the Word of God. Pride jumps off the tower, tempting God, by accepting occult power where the Retainer is received, where it ought not to be. The Great whore desolates man to man, beast desolates the spiritual nature by the physical. Revelation 13:13, the Holy Place desolates the sanctuary, the Holy Sepulcher, where the Holy Fire is received. Better bring some oil in your lamps, and endure to the end. This is what it does, and its effects, and where it takes place. We may now be able to heed the warning to flee, when we see it standing.

    The parable of the vineyard verses 9-20, is another objective lesson from God using a physical illustration to aid Christians in understanding a spiritual application (for church age) and a doctrinal application (for Jews).
    1. God created a vineyard (heavens and earth from the days of creation in genesis one) and let man have dominion over it, and went into a far country (3rd heaven 4000 years);
    2. Then God began to send prophets among his people (Jews mainly, 3 prophets=trinity), and of course the religious people (Jews mainly) rejected them;
    3. At the appointed time God sent his only begotten son (Jesus Christ) to retrieve the spiritual fruit and set up his kingdom, but the religious people rejected Jesus and crucified him;
    4. In verse 16 God destroys Jerusalem in 70 A.D. as foretold in the scriptures ( Mark 13:1,2), that is the end of Israel as a nation until may 14th, 1948;
    5. Verses 17, 18 are about salvation and the stone=Jesus Christ who is the head of corner (a pyramid);
    6. Whomsoever shall fall on the stone=a person coming to him in humble truth and asking to be saved;
    7. Whomsoever the stone shall fall= people who do not come to him in humble truth for salvation will be cast into the lake of fire for everlasting damnation;
    8. The Pharisees and Scribes represent religious leaders and people who do not humble themselves before almighty God and receive the absolute truth about the doctrine of Christ (salvation at the cross of Calvary 2 John 9,10).

    Has anyone given any thought that Jehovah and Jesus may be two different persons? These scriptures are not understandable if they both are just one. ( John 14:28) . . .If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am. ( Mark 13:32) “Concerning that day or the hour nobody knows, neither the angels in heaven nor the Son, but the Father. ( Luke 22:42) . . .“Father, if you wish, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, let, not my will, but yours take place.” (If they were one how can they have two wills)? ( John 5:30) I cannot do a single thing of my own initiative; just as I hear, I judge; and the judgment that I render is righteous, because I seek, not my own will, but the will of him that sent me. (Two very distinct persons here). In fact, the Bible is peppered with reasoning that Jehovah and Jesus are two very distinct persons). ( Mark 12:28-30) . . .“Which commandment is first of all?”
    Verse 29, Jesus answered: “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah,
    Verse 30, and you must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind and with your whole strength.’
    Removing Jehovah’s name from His book opened the door for the prophesied apostasy and it worked very well. Jehovah our Creator got lost in the doctrines of men.

    @Elizabeth Lee,
    Verse 32- Here again we must know the period of time and which Jesus is making reference to. This is why one must find a good bible believing church to help in the study of the scriptures ( Acts 8:26-35). This is another parable as in all parables that Jesus uses a physical to explain a spiritual.
    1. If Jesus is not God, there is no hope of us being saved and we are lost in our sins and destined for eternal hell ( I Corinthians 15:12-19);
    2. When Jesus is making reference to the Jews he is known as the son of man (verse 34). Jesus is informing us that we can know the season when we are getting close to the 2nd advent by watching is real (fig tree) and other events in the world;
    3. As the son of man he is 100% man and that part of the divine nature was just not privy to the exact day and hour of Christ returns;
    4. We are to be in ready mode at all times, this is why it is called living by faith not by sight ( II Corinthians 5:7);
    5. There are some of God’s divine nature he chose not to bring with him when he came to earth as our saviour and I suppose this was one of them.
