Any Lutherans out there? This verse was referenced on my infant baptismal certificate. I was on my to hell until I was born again by power of the Holy Spirit! Then, I decided to follow Jesus example in belierer's baptismNote in the following verses what evidences follow a true believer. Look in the book of Acts to discover shipwrecked Paul's fulfillment of these prophetic verses. Luther risked his life on what the scriptures taught and did not believe the educated religious leaders of his day. The KJV Bible is the most reliable English version out there. Study to know the truth!

Firstly, Mark 16:16 clearly says: 'He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned'. So belief and baptism are imperative to salvation. Secondly, only Jesus Christ has ascended to heaven as verses 31 - 33 explains. 31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. 32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. Only Jesus, you may ask, because as Peter states in verse 34 of this chapter of Acts 2: 'For David is not ascended into the heavens'. This is King David, whom God described as a man after His own heart. Resurrection to Judgement and then immortality is the scripturally defined process of salvation, based on a believers belief and baptism, not a free entrance with no obligation of change on a person's part into heaven. Regards Ian

Jesus says to John, do not worship me: worship God. revelations 22:8-16. He states he is a fellowservant and a Brethren to prophets. Jesus clearly says he is not God, mark 16:19 he sits on the right hand of God. Jesus is the son of God, and says I am the root and offspring of David and the bright and morning star. They were rebaptized because they hadn 't even heard of the Holy Ghost in verse 2. John 's baptism was the baptism of repentance verse 4, just like Peter 's baptism of repentance in Acts 2:38. When you see that they didn 't have the Pauline epistles and it was a Jewish faith being preached it will help you. The whole chapter 2 is to Jews verse 5,14,22,36. Simon Peter was offering them the Kingdom and if they as a nation would have repented Jesus Christ would have came back Acts 3:19-20. Stephen was preaching to the nation and Jesus Christ went from His seated position Mark 16:19 to standing in Acts 7:55 ready to come back. This did not take Him by surprise but it was a legitimate offer and the gospel of the kingdom of heaven was preached to the Jews first Rom 1:16 and then with the salvation of Paul the apostle to the Gentiles came the Gospel of the Grace of God. Romans 1:17 says it went from FAITH to FAITH. Galatians 3:23 But before faith came, THIS IS THE FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. The faith afterwards revealed was revealed to Paul read Ephesians 3. Acts 2:38 is a false gospel. Read Acts 15. Peter never preached it again and we are saved today by grace through faith without works Romans 4:5.

The Name of the Father, Jesus said, I manifested thy name John 17:6 I declared thy name John 17:26 What name did he manifest declare. In my name ye shall. Mark 16:16-18. As he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent Name than the angels. Hebrews 1:4. We all inherit our names from our Father, but that name was kept secret in the old test. The angel of The Lord had that name in him. Ex. 23:21 My name is in him. Judges 13:18 seeing it is secret. Luke 1:31. The angel said thou shall call his name Jesus. Isaiah 12:2 Jehovah is become my salvation, which means Jesus. The mighty God. The Everlasting Father, his name is Jesus. Jesus said no man know who the Father is but the Son, and to whomever he will reveal him Math. 11:27. Pray the Son will give u revelation.

Notice they received the Holy Spirit before water baptism in verse 44. Romans 8:26 is not speaking of speaking in tongues because it says " but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which CANNOT BE UTTERED. The Church Age saint does not have to keep himself saved because God does that Eph 1:13, 4:30, 1 Corinthians 1:8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. If baptism is a "Command, " how are unsaved children obeying a command? An unborn child can 't obey the Fathers commands until he has been born. John 3:5 flesh is water birth. We say, her water broke. Mark 16:16 is still the gospel of the kingdom not the gospel of the grace of God. Can you drink poison and handle snakes? Acts 2:38 is to Jews see verse 5,14,22,etc. They say what must WE do? Not what must I do to be saved? Acts 16:31. Acts 22:16 says calling on the name of the Lord. Matthew 28:19 says nothing about water baptism saving anyone. The apostle never got baptized according to Acts 2:38 and all are in heaven now. It was a Jewish faith Rom 1:16 that involved signs 1Cor 1:22, 14:22. Acts transitions from Jew to Gentile, from Law to Grace. Your gospel for today is 1 Cor 15:1-4. Trust the shed blood of Jesus Christ and go to heaven. Water only gets you wet in this dispensation.

Acts 10 demonstrates the acceptance of gentiles into the kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit fell upon the gentiles signifying to Peter that acceptance, but that ability to speak in tongues is different than receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2: 38. It is for everyone to help us in our daily lives as evidenced in Romans 8. If not for the Holy Spirit offering up prayers to God in our behalf to help keep us in the saved state. That is why baptism is so important because it is there where we receive the gift predicated upon the fact we acquiesce to God 's command as stated in John 3: 5, Mark 16: 16, Acts 2: 38, Acts 22: 16 and Matthew 28: 19, 20. Faith only doesn 't work, because faith has to be accompanied by following commands by Jesus. Finally, Romans 6 clearly shows why baptism is demanded because it is there we receive the regeneration by water burial in a token death, burial and resurrection satisfying God 's plan for salvation. Anything short of that is merely cut and paste salvation.

Joni G the Holy Spirit moves in all peoples including the deaf and lame. People need not hear to be able to believe because the Holy Spirit works in ways beyond our limited human understanding. We that hear and have all of our senses should be all the more humbled by what we do have and give of ourselves all the more. In Jesus name being also Immanuel, Amen.

The Lord tells the apostles in Mr 16 to preach the gospel of the Kingdom . Many groups who teach baptismal regeneration misapply this passage by saying that an individual must believe and be baptized in order to be saved. Another of their favorites is Peter speaking to the nation of Israel in Ac 2:38 telling them to repent and be baptized "in the name of Jesus " for the remission of sins. Then they would receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Both of these baptisms are directly associated with the nation of Israel, and not with the Church. The Bible records at least seven types of baptisms.

To Joni Gs, Acts 2 Chapter comment on 2 05 2015, 1:40 PM. You said I am going to do what Jesus says and not some convoluted other partial way. Well are you casting out devils now like Mark 16: V.17 says or taking up serpents or drinking any deadly things like in verse 18. You need to be a missionary and go to the Middle East and convert ISIS, I bet they would not give you anything deadly to drink. Honestly all in love you need to read C.I. Scofield 's 1917 Ref. Bible page 1069 notes 16 9.

When Jesus asked the disciples to go into all the world and preach the Gospel in the great commission in Mark 16:15-16 and Matthew 28-19-20, He didn 't say make disciples of believers and baptize Jews only. He didn 't say belief is enough for Gentiles. I am going to do what Jesus says and not some convoluted other partial way.

We all know that God is Sovereign, his Son Jesus is the only Way to Heaven and we are saved by Jesus blood. There is life in the blood. By faith, when we are baptized into His death, we come into contact with the saving blood. Romans 6:3-4 Galatians 3:27 1 Peter 3:21, Mark 16:15-16

Motdaugrnd, you are not wrong. Paul and Peter were talking about actual human race languages. Today we have the word of God to teach people. There is special work being done to help deaf people understand God 's Word who can 't hear or speak. There world is very different than speaking peoples. Praise God we can hear, read, speak and understand God 's word and the Holy Spirit who guides us into all truth.

Kevin 1st Corinthians 12:14 states, "For the body is not one member, but many. " This is talking of the diversified gifts that are of ONE AND THE SAME SPIRIT. It does not refer specifically to speech. And I could not find where Peter was mentioned here. chapter 14 does talk about "unknown tongue " yet seems to refer strictly to the Holy Spirit 's utterances in our behalf. It also states "He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself...speaketh not unto men, but unto God. " This seems to be confirmed in Romans 8:26. Thus, what I 'm hearing here appears to fit with my understanding , that what some people are calling "speaking in tongues " and doing so openly in front of admirers are NOT what this Scripture is talking about. Am I wrong?

I have a question as to how many were present at the ascension of Jesus. In this chapter we see Jesus with the eleven disciples but if you look at Luke 24: 13-53 we see Jesus talking to the two men from Emmaus. They end up going to the eleven disciples, verse 33. We see an addition at the end of verse 33 " and them that were with them " Now you have the eleven and them with them and the two with them. They are given some instructions and are led out of Bethany and they watch him ascend.

Motgaugrnd, Please study 1st Corinthians chapters 12 14. I agree with Joni as the scripture clearly states people heard Peter speak in their native speech. Chapter 14 teaches on non-understood spiritual utterings. Also read Romans 8:26

Joni G. Thank you for that information. I did find the parts of Scripture you are referring to and believe your explanation is Biblical. I 've been hearing of some referring to the speaking in tongues as something only understood by few, stating it was coming from the Holy Spirit within. I have not been able to accept this simply because the Scriptures tell us to "come and let us reason together ", which leaves out any language that cannot be understood by man. Even when Jesus spoke in parables, it was still of wording those about him could understand. Yes, the spiritual understanding was hid from many there but the wording used was familiar to them. I think I 'm wiser to stick with what I personally can understand as I don 't think the Holy Spirit would expect me to understand a language I 'm not acquainted with.

This gospel being preached in Acts 2 is that of the Kingdom of Heaven. This is the same gospel that John the Baptist preached. Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. The kingdom was still being offered to the Jews because of Jesus ' prayer to THE FATHER, a member of the Godhead Rom 1:20, Col 2:9, Acts 17:29, in Lk 23.34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. In Acts 7 Jesus is standing at the right hand of the FATHER. I don 't see how you don 't see the Godhead in the Scripture. Jesus is standing because He was ready to come back if they would have received his message as a nation. That 's what He said would happen. Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Mark 16:19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. They rejected the message and God went to the Gentiles through the apostle Paul. The Gospel for today is found in 1 Cor 15:1-4 and no water baptism or tongues are mentioned. Acts 2:38 is cursed for today Gal 1:8-9. Why? It 's not for us today.

Motgaugrnd, after the Day of Pentecost, in Acts 2, the apostles were filled with the Holy Ghost and the people baptized received the gift of the Holy Ghost, guiding them into all truth. They spoke in many different languages that day, actual human languages for the different peoples present. The purpose? To spread the Gospel. A new way to follow God. The Way through Jesus Christ. Tongue is from the Greek word glossa. When the apostles laid their hands on the new believers in Christ, those believers could cast out demons or speak in different languages. The purpose? To build up the church all over the world. Today we have the Bible translated in hundreds of languages, so everyone can read about Jesus and trust and obey. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! God bless you, Motdaugrnd.

In verse 17 it states, "And these signs shall follow them that believe In my name shall they cast out devils they shall speak with new tongues " Can anyone identify other Scripture that can explain what "new tongues " means?
