This chapter also teaches that Jesus did not allow the fame of his miracles blind not to go back to God in prayer. He never requested for people's praise, but the miracle benefactors to go and show themselves to the priests as it was commanded as way to show thanks to God for any miracle received.
Chapter 1 of Mark reminds me of the sacrifices that John and the other disciples had to make in order to be a follower of Christ and to do his will. I was trying to find out what "face" referred to in Mk. 1:2. If "face" the face of Mark or the face of the Gentiles and especially the Romans. Or in other words, in the face of an individual or of a nation or larger group?
This is a powerful chapter for a person who has began to step away from sin and give his or her life over to the power of Jesus Christ. First you must decide to repent your sins. And once you decide to repent you shall become clean in God's eyes. How powerful is that? We all must make ourselves ready to recieve his word and obey and make ourselves clean in his words. I like to think of his words as soap, each time I read the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I can feel my sins melt away. Thank you God for showing us of your majesty. 1) Repentance: Both John and Jesus mentioned about repentance. It is importance for everyone in this world to take this firs step of repentance. To walk away from since and give their life to Jesus Christ.
