Vs. 35. We should practice verse 35 by living Christ 's will not living for self. We need to die to self daily. We should use our lives to live a life of love, do good works Ephesians 2:10 not for our own recognition but for Christ 's glory, live love, mercy and forgiveness. God will give us strength! Praise God!
JESUS SHOW HIS AM ZING WORKS SO MANY TIMES. God gives us time and time to free our selves over and over. If we will deny ourselves, take up the cross daily..
VERSE 36 HERE IT IS CLEARLY MENTIONED ABOUT THE SOUL AND THE BODY OF A HUMAN.THE HUMAN BODY WILL PERISH BUT THE SOUL IS ETERNAL.WHAT JESUS TEACHES US THROUGH RESURRECTION IS THAT EVEN IF YOU DIE,AT HIS SECOND COMING HE WILL GIVE YOU A PHYSICAL BODY AND FOR THAT PURPOSE YOU HAVE TO SHED ALL YOUR BODILY DESIRES IN THIS PRESENT WORLD.ADAM AND EVE WERE ASKED BY THE ALMIGHTY NOT TO EAT A PARTICULAR FRUIT.MOSES WAS GIVEN A SET OF 10 COMMANDMENTS.JESUS HAS FINALLY GIVEN YOU A COMMANDMENT OF SHEDDING YOUR WORLDLY DESIRES OF YOUR BODY.THIS WAS IN TOTAL CONTRAST TO THE JEWISH BELIEF WHICH OVER A PERIOD OF TIME WAS ALTERED BY THE PRIESTS FROM THE TIME OF MOSES.IF YOU DON 'T SHED YOUR WORLDLY DESIRE YOU ARE NOT FOLLOWING JESUS,THEN YOU ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN BY FAITH.
The reason Jesus spit on the mans eyes was because he was prideful, Jesus had to humble him to be able to receive his deliverence. Jesus previously pronounced judgement on
What is important is eternity. All the struggles, Hustles and Bustles of this life will fade away. Seek you first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and every other thing will be added to you. Beware!, the Bible warns, soon and very soon, time shall be no more when the trumpet shall sound. Work towards eternity.
what a word, we waste our lives seeking material things of which is not wrong but we definitely neglect that our souls also require spiritual food. all in all whatever we work for un this life we live it here. sometimes our profit can be the evil things we do like drinking ,adultery ,hating you name them and all don 't pay they only destroy . verse 36
Peter let the voice for fear use his love for Jesus as an expression of a personal salvation that sought to dissuade or undermine Jesus acceptance of the voice for love
Another verse that goes along with it says Godliness with contentment is great gain Psalmist said As the hart panteth after the water brook even doth my soul pant after thee Paul said that l may know HIM another verse says Where your treasure is there will your heart be also Our top priority or treasure should be to treasure the fact that we know and love GOD who is eternal to treasure His Word as one that findeth great spoil and as fine gold This material world is temporary and can not satisfy however much of it you could acquire ITS better to have a little with GOD on BOARD THAN to have a stalled ox and trouble therewith JESUS and your soul are eternal And eternal things can never be satisfied with an temporary fix thats why hollywood and athletes no matter how rich and famous can ever be truly satisfied Hence the drugs alcohol divorce early deaths Truly we should be in pursuit of GOD and not in the temporary things of this passing world thats to be made new
A very wise idea However man needs material comforts in order to cherish his soul if one neglects his health and comforts in his search for heavenly life he will not be able to live his life peacefully Jesus worked to make the world the heaven Not to live in an unrealistic dream of life in heaven
I heard our pastor say that Jesus did the first attempt the blind man was looking with spiritual eyes and saw the heavenly hosts and angels moving around He saw these big creatures the angels and related them as big as trees Then the second attempt Jesus opened the blind man s earthly eyes
The verse is warning to those willing to do all sorts of evil to satisfy their carnal needs while here on earth, with no thought as to the fact we all have only a limited number of years here on earth, and limitless number of years after death, where everyone would give account of their deeds while here on earth.
I ask myself the same question Joseph. The miracle Jesus performed before always took one attempt. He prayed and it happen. This miracle took two attempts. I believe Jesus wanted to show us how important it is to have the right vision. To see men as tree is to have the wrong perspective. So God had to fix it. But he did that just to prove a point.
Where did we get the bible? The Catholic Church. The Catholic Church held a council in which they decided which books would be a part of the canon, meaning, which books are inspired. Either the Catholic Church's decision was infallible and all the books are inspired, or the Catholic Church's decision was not infallible and therefore the other books can not be trusted as being inspired. There is no pick and choose.
Jesus knowing the man's heart worked the work of God in two parts as a point of building the faith of those who were watching not just this man alone but his disciples also / as for the man who was full grown I am sure though he had never seen a tree knew what a tree was by touch / people who are blind are very perceptive even without sight / my own experience with members in my wife's family has proved this to me / we all need to lift our hands in praise to God as the trees do and the leave beg for rain / we of the Spirit to fill us to overflow in God's love.
I think that though physical blindness was there Jesus performed a miracle in a process, ist stage he begin to open the blinded eyes to show this man the that he had the power to restore and that in turn activated the man's faith and hope in God, 2nd stage the finishing work was done too perfect the faith of the once blind man and to reveal the authenticity of Jesus and who he really is. Seeing men as trees was a message to the man to not be a form of a man only .Then seeing men as they are was a message for that man to now be the kind of man that God created him to be.
Wasn't this man taken alone from the village? How could he see men walking as trees if there were no others but Jesus with him? Maybe he mistook trees as men to start with since he hadn't seen a tree, but probably felt their bark, trunks and limbs.
@Joseph,
Comment on verse 24; I do not believe I really have a clear understanding of this verse but some of my thoughts.
1. Jesus and his disciples just completed the feeding of the 4000;
2. Jesus made remarks about the disciples unbelief in reference to their inability to spiritually discern with their eyes and ears;
3. They came into Bethsaida (means house of fishing) and when they brought the blind man to Jesus, he may have taken this opportunity for an object lesson;
4. Taking 2 attempts to perform a miracle is not needed for Jesus of course;
5. I can't help, but think of 1 Corinthians 13:8-13. Verse 12 for now we see though a glass darkly; but we shall see face to face; now I know in part; but then shall i know even as I am known;
6. When the blind man looked up he saw Jesus face to face all things became clear ( Acts 4:13);
7. When a person begins believing God’s holy word and looking to the author for the answers; instead of believing what they want to about God's holy scriptures (reduce God's word to fit their lifestyle). They start the journey from being a child in Christ to putting away childish things;
8. It is the fundamental transformation from being worldly and earthly minded to being spiritually and heavenly minded.
Over all my opinion on the olelo is the Lord just got thru with some awesome blessings and his followers still did not understand him. They still had there doutbts. In todays life of living we then to do the same. We ask the lord to help us but we still lean on our own understanding by doubting. Mahalo.
Men walking as trees, Who saw this a blind man? how would he know how a tree look like? I myself think that Jesus showed him the beginning,man in the garden of Eden as trees or the spirit form of man in
God's image and likeness. the third eye before our mind was close to dreams. the true dimension before we took of the forbidden tree.
Joseph, I had the same question, so I researched the question- why did Jesus need two attempts to restore the blind man's eyes? I believe Jesus was acting out a parable about discipleship. He had just scolded his disciples for worrying about bread, even after Jesus had performed two great miracles in multiplying bread, and yet they still doubted. It is the nature of our flesh to doubt and it causes us to have clouded vision so that we do not see the truth when it is standing before us: Jesus is the Bread of Life. Bread was no problem for Jesus! Yet, thank the Lord he gave them another chance:34 "...Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." He wants us to learn from our mistakes and keep following Him, and He can do a mighty work in us, if we don't quit on Him, like He didn't quit on the blind man.
It is so awesome Jesus touch the mans eyes, his vision was still blurry, but with the second touch the man was able to see everything in a better perspective. It shows its not how people treat you, its how we react to how they treat us.
I love this chapter cause 1:13 is talking about how JESUS fed four thousand people who was there to hear what JESUS was preaching about.The disciples faith was small cause they only had seven loafs of bread and it was four thousand there that was hungry,but are LORD has power to do all things. So he told the people to sit and he fed all the people and had some left over. 14:21 The Yeast of the Pharisees and Herod was telling me that many will say that they are the LORD, the Son of the most high. They will try to deceive many.( MARK 13 5:8)There is one GOD and he is greater than he that is in the world,So trust in the LORD with all thy heart,and lean not to your own understanding. 22:26 Is just letting us know that JESUS is great in all ways, that he can do all thing,but fail. 27:37 was just asking the disciples what do the people say I am?? Then he ask the disciples who do you say I am?? Peter told him that he was THE CHRIST,but JESUS was not ready for them to tell who he was yet. He fortold what was going to happen to him in the future and Peter started to rebuke JESUS. Thats when JESUS rebuked Peter for what was in him(the devil) and let them all know that they must carry there own cross,and will have to die for christ to make it to heaven.. So sell out for the Lord,follow the LORD teaching,cause tommrow might be to late....
What Mark 8:38 is saying is that we as Christians should stand for Christ and his word no matter what problem or situation you encounter. Stand for something or you will fall for anything.
