This is a very interesting verse as it compares todays generation with children who are never satisfied. and it is true people including christians have this tendency of complaining. we complain even on issues we are not suppose to complain about.

    FROM THE DAYS OF JOHN.....UNTIL..
THIS VERSE CLEARLY INDICATES AN INITIATION POINT FROM WHICH THE KINGDOM BEGAN TO SUFFER VIOLENCE:

QI: WHAT OBTAINED PREVIOUS TO THIS EVENT AS PERTAINS VIOLENCE TO THE KINGDOM?
AI: MY BELIEF IS THAT THE VERSE SHOULD NOT BE VIEWED IN THE WIDER CONTEXT OF THE AGE OLD BATTLE OF GOOD AND EVIL BUT RATHER IN THE CONTEXT OF SOMETHING WHICH WAS POSSIBLE FROM THE TIME OF JOHN. THAT IS THE MESSAGE OF JOHN THAT THE POSSIBILITY NOW EXISTED FOR MANKIND TO ACCESS THE KINGDOM OF GOD WITH ALL THE MERITS OF SONSHIP, INHERITANCE THROUGH FORGIVENESS, POWER, AUTHORITY AND RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. THIS WAS A RADICAL REDEFINING OF THE OPERATIONAL MODE OF THE RELATIONSHIP OF LAW AND RITUALS WHICH PREVIOUSLY EXISTED TILL THEN.

FORCEFUL MEN LAY HOLD OF IT:

THIS CLEARLY INDICATES THE NEED OF CONCERTED EFFORT REPRESENTED IN EG. CONSTANCY, DEFERMENT OF LEGITIMATE CARES, DENYING OF SELF ETC. IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH, BUT IT IS TOTALLY POSSIBLE; REMEMBER FORCEFUL MEN ARE TAKING HOLD OF IT. IN A PERSONAL DIMENSION KINGDOM CAN BE VIEWED AS THE RULERSHIP OF GOD IN OUR DIMENSIONS OF LIFE! WE CAN THEREFORE NOW CHALLENGE FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS, PEACE, LACK, SINCERE FRIENSHIPS, SELF PERFECTION AFTER GOD (AS HEAVENLY FATHER IS PERFECT) ETC. A WORLD OF POSSIBLITIES BY ACCESSING GODLY RESOURCE NOW AVAILABLE WITH THE SPIRIT OF OLD MODELS LIKE JOSHUA AND CALEB

We all come to a point in owe life that we as children of God, come to this point in life where we need rest. We seam to forget in times that we have a God that we are able to come to Him and receive our rest. We as children of God are very blessed to be able to come to Him.

@Tom, I believe the appropriate attitude toward sin after it has been committed is to regret it; not to defend it. We sure all sin, but no one of us is due to defend what he/she trips over. That is spiritual dishonesty. Which is purposely engaging in sin, like making a commitment that is against the scriptures, which differs from one that just falls to such, unprepared. It’s like a married man that takes a lifetime engagement to live with a mistress. It is different from one that falls to it and stand up to continue his walk in Christ. Spiritual dishonesty nullifies the power of the word of God in us and just results in unbelief; it nullifies the power of the holy spirit in us. How will God set us from things we ourselves are approving, it’s like God is going against our will. No matter how delighted we are with it, but if God forbids it, then we have first to stand against such, and take resolve to withstand it, then God can and will set us free from it. We don’t caress evil, just because we delight in it, that’s idolatry. God is the one to tell what is right and what is not, what is sweet and what is bitter, Isaiah 5:20.
Let’s stand up Brother, and let’s not dilute the word of God, nor handle it deceitfully.
Help is available if we can be meek and learn from him, Matthew 11:29. God bless you.

Verse 12 comments: we must return to the beginning of John's ministry who is the fore runner of Christ and the one chosen to introduce Jesus as the Lamb of God. John is in prison because he has been in opposition of both religious (Pharisees and Sadducees) and political leaders (Herod). Satan is creating violence against Jesus and his followers to stop the kingdom of heaven from being ushered in. The violent are the opposition and the kingdom of heaven and kingdom of God which are both in Jesus Christ have always suffered violence due to Satan and his followers’ opposition and will be until the second advent.

My children and I went to a fast food restaurant for dinner and being that I am a single parent of four, money has always (in the past-we speak in faith) been an issue. So I (talking to myself in a low voice) said- "man I have so much to pay for. I have electric this check, and rent, and car insurance, and so on..." My oldest daughter heard me and asked- "mommy, everything is so hard for you. Its hard for you to pay bills and get us things we want. You need help." When she said that to me, my inside crumbled because my flesh agreed and for a split second I was depressed about how their fathers left me for dead with four kids to raise. But then I felt the greater side of me- my spirit leap up and say this very verse- "my yoke is easy and my burden is light." I said to my daughter, "Sweetheart, yes-mommy does need help. But Jesus is my Help." The sweet Holy Spirit reminded me that He was with me through that all and has never left me. That is what I think this message means.

All of Matthew 11 is WONDERFUL. I really know that reading GOD’S WORD IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET PEACE IN MY HEART. FOR JESUS SAID HIS YOKE IS EASY AND HIS BURDEN LIGHT. THANK YOU FATHER GOD FOR YOUR WORD AND YOUR SON JESUS.

If one turns to Christ Jesus for strength and refuge total healing, He is willing to...Jesus is able to remove your load of Sin and give you his load of bearing his name/his love/obedience to the world and there is great joy in that...it starts by one being filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues as an evidence that you are filled with the Holy Spirit...Christ paid the price already.. John 3:1-8, Mark 16:15-19
  • Timothy Wayne George on Matthew 11 - 12 years ago
We need to come unto Jesus, and He alone can give us rest for our restless souls. He only can take our burdens, because His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. Many people are going to doctors trying to find relief from depression, and the relief can only come with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I pray that if anyone is heavy laden, and full of guilt, that they will find cleansing in the blood of Jesus, and a new beginning in Jesus name Amen.

Isaiah 9:6 Tell us his name shall be called wonderful counsellor,The Mighty God everlasting Father prince of peace.God said in ( Isaiah 43:19) Behold I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth shall ye not no it? well I guess that being proven. As far as Christ being a man and God at the same time and not! being able to govern the Universe that's a misconception of the human mind. Jesus said to Nicodemus a man who was confused like many here today StJohn 3:12 If I have told you of earthly things and you believe not how shall you believe if I tell you of heavenly things and no man hath ascended up to heaven but the same that came down from heaven even the Son of Man which IS IN HEAVEN!!hello. The Bible dose not say God the Son because The Godhead is not divide because the Son is only the (Word) which is God's prophetic description of himself which he incarnated into flesh. Not another person!! bur the expressed image of his!! person.Hebrews1:3( John 14:9-11) Jesus did not say he that seen me hath seen God the Son he said hath seen the Father ( Colossians 2:9 for in him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily Christ is not a fallen man like us. We can't limit what he can do; because of what we! cant do or don't understand that's why 1Tomothy 3:16 say's its a mystery. Not every one will understand; that's the book that is called the Revelation of Jesus Christ says blessed is him that readeth and understands.( Philippians 2:19)say who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God; But made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant. Yes he dose pray to his own spirit Deity!( Ephesians 1:9 says Having made known unto us the Mystery of his will according to the pleasure which he purposed in himself. Hello!!11th verse who worketth all things after the counsel of his own will.( Isaiah 40:10)Behold the Lord God will come with a strong hand and his arm shall rule for him. verse 13 who hath directed the spirit of the Lord; or being his counsellor hath taught him? with whom took he counsel Who instructed him and taught him in the path of Judgment and taught him Knowledge, and taught to him the way of understanding. Matthew 11:27 All things are delivered to me of my Father and no man knoweth the Son but the Father neither knoweth any man the Father save the Son and HE to whom THE SON WILL REVEAL HIM. So there you no nothing of the father but what Jesus has revealed blessed is he that readeth and understands.

Come unto me means a lot Jesus really meant what He said because He knows so many people out there are been deprived of their possesion in christ by the devil. But He gave an open cheque to all who wants freedom that they should come to Him that in Him lies liberty.

JESUS LOVER OF MY SOUL, JESUS I WILL NEVER LET YOU GO

    Jesus, lover of my soul
Jesus, I will never let You go
You've taken me from the miry clay
Set my feet upon the rock and now I know

I love You, I need You
Though my world may fall, I'll never let You go
    My Saviour, my closest friend
I will worship You until the very end

I love You, I need You
Though my world may fall, I'll never let You go
    My Saviour, my closest friend
I will worship You until the very end.
I woke up this morning and remembered this song and thought it might encourage some people.
This is a heart-felt longing and testimony of one who truly appreciates the Love and saving Power of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
    Paul in his second epistle to the Corinthians tried to explain this abundant provision God has for every one who will run to him for refuge, and trust Him for deliverance. 2Corinthians 1: 3-5 ‘Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ’
God does not promise that life will be easy. No. Instead there is an assurance of His consolation and comfort when we find ourselves in such situations at any stage during our life’s journey. You need to be close in relationship to have the benefit. There is an image of expected experience which may come useful for some other purposes in life. When we trust in any thing outside God, It is like standing or walking in mud. You can imagine the struggle and fears and the mess, or, even danger. Compare it with standing on, or even running on a rock, just as John Wesley and the writer of this song is full of exuberant worship and praise for the way God had delivered him from trusting on any other but God.
The summary of it is that Christ is our REFUGE, HOPE & PLACE OF SECURITY.
‘God is our refuge and strength; and a very present help...’ ( Psalm 46:1).
Do you feel lonely, widowed, divorced, orphaned, threatened, neglected, abandoned, forsaken, rejected, or abused in any way? The same One who died on the cross for you, now says: ‘Come unto me all ye that labour, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest’ ( Matthew 11:28).
1 Peter 5: 6 ‘Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
I pray Oh Lord, in Your infinite and abundant grace and mercy, meet at the point of their needs, all who are cut up in any of lives unpleasant experiences, and all who despair or are confused. May they find HOPE in Your promises, Your steadfast love and faithfulness in Jesus’ Mighty Name…Amen.

    God bless.

    Matthew 11:12
From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.

This is another difficult verse in the bible. Different teachers have different views. But with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and with the exegesis from the context, I come to this conclusion.

The back ground story is as follows. John the baptist was in the prison for the cost of the kingdom of heaven. He began to have some doubt about Jesus Christ as the messiah.
So he sent his disciples to ask Jesus.

Then Jesus replied with what he was doing. He healed the sick. He raised the dead. He preached the good news of the kingdom of heaven. They were enough proofs of his Messianic

After that, to the crowd , he said, “ From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.

I believe that Jesus Christ was targeting to the ones who believed in him.

This is my paraphrase. Jesus Christ said, “John the baptist has already entered into the kingdom of heaven. Now he is advancing in and for the kingdom of heaven. So the enemies put him in prison. But John and the other strong men did not give up. They take hold of the advancement
of the kingdom of heaven. They kept on marching, for the victory was sure. Do not be discouraged or dismayed. Blessed is the one who does not fall away on account of me. Know that I am.”

Another related verse is Luke 16:16.
The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

Here Jesus replied to the Pharisees, who loved money and who were sneering at Jesus, when he said, “No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and wealth.”

So, this is my understanding. Pharisees try to enter into the kingdom of heaven with their own way. But they will never be allowed.

They need to humble themselves, fighting against their pride. They need to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Messiah. Only then will they be accepted into the kingdom of heaven.

But every one who humbles himself, overcoming against his pride, is welcome into the kingdom of heaven. The Holy Spirit gives them power to come to Jesus Christ.

There will be oppositions against the kingdom of heaven, whether entering into or advancing for the kingdom of God. The oppositions are either inside of a man or outside.
  • Desiree m on Matthew 11 - 13 years ago
Here I believe Jesus is letting the peope and the pharasies how important John was to him and his ministry. I believe God sent John to make acceptance of the message a little more believable.
