  • Robert DeHaan on Matthew 15 - 8 years ago
I had been lacking in my reading of Scripture, so I decided to start with Mathew and to study Jesus words anew. God is so awesome as the Holy Spirit refreshes the soul in reading the Word. I pray that more Christians will renew the love of the Truth of a new life for all eternity as he allows us every opportunity to do so. The Holy Spirit always shows you Truth in new and powerful ways.

Do not try so hard, but pray about the passage that worries you. Sometimes, we are not ready to understand and sometimes you have to take what is written by faith, until the time is right for you to understand. It is in God's time, not ours. Be kind to yourself and trust in our Lord.

verses 1-9 I believe what Jesus was warning to all churches is not to add any mans traditions to the teachings God's holy word.

"The LOST SHEEP OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL" are not talking about the Jews.
The Jews are the 2 tribes of the12 original HEBREW tribes that was separated from ISRAEL in a Civil War. The JEWS are the 2 tribes of JUDAH and BENJAMIN. They are refered to as "THE HOUSE OF JUDAH" in the prophecies. THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL are the 10 other tribes that was taken by the Assyrians.

Elizabeth, if u think about this verse only, i think u will never see the accurate answer becouse there are more verse about the salvation for sinner.there are more ministry miracle among the people of gentile . Jesus he said himself, "Go and spread the gospel in all nation ". .and think abou this . "For God so love the world............. john-3:16 . not said that "for God so love the lost israel " so we need god for salvation from our sins...

This lady was seeking Jesus and she found Jesus. Jesus wanted to see just how badly she wanted healing for her daughter. The lady didn 't give up even when Jesus seemed to insult her. The gentiles ' time had not come. But Jesus healed the child anyway. This tells me TO NEVER GIVE UP. HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH! PRAISE GOD! HALLELUJAH! JESUS LIVES! JESUS SAVES! JESUS LOVES! JESUS HEALS! HALLELUJAH!
  • John faumuina jr on Matthew 15 - 9 years ago
I think this chapter teaches me to understand how the lord teaches the gospel to his people.the gospel wasn't offered to the gentiles. everyone should have the gospel. If you really want to have faith you should have the gospel. The truth was already on earth.
  • John on Matthew 15 - 9 years ago
Lily, great point, that has really given me something to think about! I think it 's great that we have a God who isn 't demanding anything like racism.
  • John on Matthew 15 - 9 years ago
This chapter has given me some difficulty, as is hard to understand how Christ himself might use such language. What I think explains this, rather than it being simply a rude outbust, is firstly he calls, likens, the lost sheep of Israel children. To me, this suggests that Christ may have deemed them as being childish, which is made more likely given that the chapter begins with His encounter with the scribes and Pharisees, whose behaviour may have appeared to Him that way and been somewhat representitive of the behaviour of Israelites. As for calling the Caanite woman a dog, we can assume He didn 't mean that she was literally a dog, as the lost sheep obviously aren 't literally children. Perhaps the Canaanites where not typically interested in the God of Israel or becoming Israelites, which I believe could have been possible given Leviticus 19:33-34 and Ezekiel 47:21-23, but were interesting in being healed, and perhaps given to being bothersome, in the way a dog might. Does anyone have any other ideas that might help me to understand about this better?

Jesus fullfilled the scriptures and showed his love and mercy to us in order to help us to believe that there is God and Jesus is the Son of the Living God who saves us and heal us. Jesus redeemed all of us through the cross, we are now live because of his forgiveness. We are now pardoned and saved. Our job now is only to believe Jesus and obey his commandments until rapture. Jesus is faithful to his promises and he will never ever leave us nor forsake us. Jesus loves you and thanks for the precious blood he shed for us

Until we seek grace from the lord to give us a pure mind, and unless we tune our thoughts towards God,then if we think, plan, run towards evil we as much as have sinned. And one 's purity begins first by acknowledging they are sinners. Lets join hands my brothers and sisters to intercede for each other in prayer.
  • Lily on Matthew 15:24 - 9 years ago
see the context of this verse-matt.15:24. she was a Canaanite woman-a gentile. Christ compares her to a dog.but see her faith in a jewish-chtist. did he see such faith in Israel? same matthew who wrote this text, also wrote chapter-1. the lineage of Christ.tamar-a Canaanite, rahab a canaatite, ruth was a Moabite, Bathsheba-uriahs wife- a Hittite. all these gentile women stepped into the messianic line. this is the true nature of kingdom of chtist.everything Christ said had deep , hidden meaning.only the holy spirit can reveal this to us.me,a gentile, go on my knees and say- my LORD AND MY GOD.

Hi Oumar, read Romans chapter 11. It helped me understand things better, maybe it will you too! God bless
  • Oumar on Matthew 15:24 - 9 years ago
Lets face it ,this verse spoken by Jesus is crystal clear isn 't it , Christ is saying that He was sent only to the people of -where- who - the children of Jacob better known as Israel and who were the children of , you guessed it the Jews. These people were so rebellious that TheAlmighty sent prophets upon prophets to give them guidance. And even on to this day they continue in their way to cause rebellion. The ironic thing about this is that one of his deciples is telling the world this , of what he himself said . But the Christian world is denying that he said this . putting words in his mouth just because you wants it your way does not makes it the truth.if your name is Mr White and I go telling the world that you are Mr Black would I be right? this JESUS as was not sent to for all mankind simply put.
