2 Corinthians 5:16 states: Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" 14 So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am? 16 Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. ( Matthew 16:13-17)
I feel compelled to try to describe how we are to be filled with the Holy Spirit and the best way to describe it. My first point is how NOT to approach this.
Concept #1 DO NOT put a person; no matter how Godly they appear to be as your focus on how you view Christ.
This is the most pressing issue here on this topic. We are indeed caught between two extremes here. In the Body of Christ we have the only tangible evidence of a demonstration of living out a life filled with the Spirit including the fruits AND gifts thereof.
We therefore MUST have examples of those who have discipled us in order to emulate ( 1 Cor. 11:1). Paul; of course was the penultimate example of a man sold out for the Lord; in word and in deed. 2 Corinthians 10:10 says; however this: For some say, "His letters are weighty and forceful, but his physical presence is unimpressive, and his speaking is of no account." Paul was apparently despite intensive training in the past as a Jew in the Torah not a gifted public speaker; at least giving a sermon.
He certainly seemed to have no problem speaking in large crowds; in prison and in other situations. We of course can't overlook the fact that he used to be Saul; who was behind intense persecution of Christians pre-salvation.
Be careful with AI , it links only in one edge of the Sword, I mean in the letter of the Holy Scripture, this one edge of the Sword of GOD only kills the souls- Genesis 3:1 combined with Matthew 16:22-23. Satan only uses the letter of the Holy Scriptures- John 8:44. The life in the Holy Scripture is the Spirit of GOD- John 4:24 combined with John 6:63, it is in the other edge of the Sword, and AI will never be linked to the Spirit of GOD, but to the spirit of Devil.
Satan uses the letter, the writings, of the Bible, to deceive listeners or readers of the Scriptures. Take care.
What I tell you I tell to all
Hbrews 4:12-13
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to render an account.
Then Peter says that Jesus is the Son of the Living God. Remember that the Jews of the first century understood that Son of God is a divine title, as I explained earlier. So for Peter to say that Jesus is the Son of the Living God, He is saying that Jesus is God.
In Matthew 16:16-17 Jesus again asked a very profound question. "Who do you say that I am." Again, Peter the same statement. "Thou are the Christ, the Son of the Living God." Jesus receives this statement as true and declared that Peter didn't come up with this idea on his own but that the Father had revealed this truth to Peter (because God can only tell the truth).
In john 20:28, Thomas, upon seeing and touching the risen Jesus exclaims, "My Lord and my God." Jesus does not rebuke Thomas for saying He is God, nor does He say Thomas is mistaken and then correct Thomas. No, Jesus accepts Thomas' statement of worship.
In Is. 43;15, YHWH says, "I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, you King." In Jn. 1:49, after Jesus calls Natanael, Nathanael says, "Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel." Jesus does not negate what Natanael states because this disciples is equating Jesus with YHWH of Is. 43:15.
Also, even demons knew that Jesus was God, calling Him the "Holy One of God" in Mk. 1:24; Lk. 4:34.
Next, I want to go to Hebrew1:6 where the inspiration of God had the author say that the angels worship Jesus, In Rev. there is worship of Jesus, the Lamb, along with the Father, who sits on the throne. How could this worship be allowed in heaven if Jesus was not God?
For now I will stop. There are many, many more verses that speak to Jesus; divinity. One can look on this site under the question "Is Jesus God?"
For me, I am convinced that Jesus is God and worthy of worship as God. And it is not idolatry to worship the Father and Jesus, the Son, for there are not two Gods (or three), but one God who exists as several divine persons who are one in nature.
Before I begin; I want to say that I enjoy the fellowship here; as well as writing postings. If there was any time that I wanted to make an impact it is now on this subject. Other than the attributes of God; at least from my perspective and experience this is needed the most. Many go to either extreme (NOT unique to this subject). People either will exaggerate Satan and allow fear of him to paralyze them or will underestimate the threat. It is; and I hope everyone here agrees with this BEYOND our strength to fight the enemy of our souls; we only have Christ to help us; as evidence of Michael the Archangel appealing to the Lord in the case of the dispute over Moses' Body ( Jude 1:9). Since he WILL kick Satan out of heaven at some point; this is evidence of respecting God; although it could show that the combined forces of angels of God are needed to kick out Satan and his minions.
It also avoids presumptuous action as well as acting out before the proper time and without the direct command of God which involves a pride of sorts that Lucifer himself was brought to his downfall. In any case; what causes fear is either our own sin which God allows the enemy to torment us with and accuse us; or an unhealthy obsession with the media representation or occult practices rather than avoiding every appearance of evil. Knowing that Satan is the god of this world and offered all the Kingdoms to Christ and that everyone's name that is NOT in the book of life worships his masterpiece the Antichrist Beast we do well to heed to the warnings not to trivialize the enemy we face but to have an Ephesians 6 mindset.
Satan's "machinations"
Part One.-Self
John 12:25 states that if we love this life we will lose it and if we hate it we gain eternal life. Proverbs 16:18 says that pride comes before a fall. Jesus gave his life as a ransom for many ( Mark 10:45) and the verse begins talking about Him serving others than being served. I will discuss Matthew 16:23 next post.
I suppose today's scripture from Joshua 24:18 is as good a place as any to tackle that subject. As for the entire Bible as we have it today; there is no verse in scripture mentioning all the written texts as a whole; probably because they weren't complete yet.
1 Corinthians 13:10 mentions things passing away when the partial is complete; or something to that affect. Revelation also has verses warning about not adding or subtracting which could mean adding to that book or all scripture. Since the written texts originally came from oratory (with the exception of the 10 Commandments originally penned by God Himself); God planned it out so that the scribes would count every LETTER of a scroll; and get rid of a copy to start again if it was even slightly off. 2 Timothy 3:16 explains that all scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching; reproof; etc.
I have discussed in older posts a summation of the Apocrypha as to truths of historic or moral truths that are borrowed from true scripture; which always states "thus saith the Lord" except for places like Ruth and Esther; or Song of Solomon. God's truths are absolute; as we see from the claims of Christ's divinity; and the laws in the 10 Commandments. The repetitive themes such as scriptures being repeated again in the New Testament to enhance their true meanings bring a cohesiveness to the Bible. We also have such admonitions as 1 John 4:2 stating what any "spirit" testifies about Christ having come in the flesh.
That would correlate with verses like Matthew 16:17 where it is clear that Christ's DIVINITY (as the "I am") can only be understood or revealed through the Spirit. I noticed that myself pre conversion it didn't enter my mind that Christ was God or part of the "Godhead". As our spirit testifies with "his Spirit"( Romans 8:16) that we are His children and His Word is truth the Lord will build our discernment of truth as we grow and mature in Him to know what is true (see also John 10:27).
And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. ( John 8:35).
When we consider the state of the human soul as well as the angelic realm we realize that access to the heavenly abode is only for those who kept their first estate; as opposed to those mentioned in Jude 6 who fell away after Lucifer's deception. Such is the case as well for men; unregenerate men are truly slaves to sin ( Romans 6:20). We find that our freedom indeed puts us into bondage while being a servant of Christ brings victory.
It is tempting to include some verses from secular songs which at least admit to the dazzling display that Satan appearing as an angel of light uses to delude the masses. ( 2 Cor. 11:14). Since he can no longer magnify God's name; Satan and his minions can only appeal to the nature of man; as he did when influencing Peter to speak as he did about Christ ( Matthew 16:23). Men's thoughts are on self preservation; not sacrificial love. We want to keep close those who are closest to us; which isn't necessarily wrong in itself but is if God is subservient; thus we hate our lives and keep it ( John 12:25). Hence is the paradox of living in Christ and it will come to it's fullest realization during the fires of the Tribulation. It is hard to comprehend just how powerful the delusion will be mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2:11. GOD sends the strong delusion! As stated previously; the trumpet judgments still won't deter the world of it's sins; and in Revelation 9:14-21 after the 200,000,000 demon horde kill one third of all of the earth people STILL won't stop their abominable acts. Keep in mind this is well after the sixth SEAL where people at that time are still hiding in caves and fully aware of God and Christ on their thrones beginning judgment ( Rev. 6:16-17).
This of course will lead to the delusion mentioned in Psalm 2 and Revelation 19 where men come together at Armageddon and eventually try to fight God.
There is only one time that I am aware of where a literal heaven was spoken against; in this case a book on Postmillenialism. I don't have the book with me at present (it may be buried in a box somewhere). I should note that one good point was in that book; namely that many of the PreMil camp tend to state or act as though the gates of hell are too powerful; rather than holding out to the promises that they will not prevail until the end ( Matthew 16:18). In the proper context (as opposed to a Dominioninsm mentality) this is a valid criticism of many who are hiding out waiting for the Rapture and not occupying until He comes ( Luke 19:13).
In regard to hell; however of course there are many more professing believers who have convinced themselves that it is merely a symbolic statement. Such often tend to hold on to a cessation mentality; that is of a human soul before the final Resurrection presumably at the end of the Millennium or at least the Rapture. They think that someone will simply wake up thinking it was just a moment before that they died at the Resurrection; thus making the suffering of the lost delayed into the future to assuage their conscience (often if not for their own fate for that of their loved ones at present who have died). Of course; in light of verses such as 2 Corinthians 5:8; and Hebrews 9:27 among others this seems like a ridiculous concept. I would argue this point of a belief in literal hell is important enough that we cannot consider fellowship with other believers who don't agree at least in our own place of corporate worship. Again; we can try to witness to them the truth. This is needed doctrine because we need to explain the grave state of the lost; and that there is NO peace for the wicked. ( Isaiah 48:22 and many other passages). Hell not being literal is due to a misunderstanding of the meaning for the grave and sheol (the land of the dead).
It seems you have the Bible only in your hands, but have not the Word of GOD in heart. This explain why you believe in esoteric, and kabbalistic, and spiritists,AND FICTITIOUS names of God, which Satan stealthy introduced in the OT, in Torah,Jewish Scriptures-Tanack,as if were names of the true GOD,but are fictitious NAMES from your heart are JEHOVAH,YAHWEH,YHWH,ADONAI,EL SHADAI,HaSHEM.Terrible.
The words that proceede from your heart is from a human perspective,a stumblingblock-Genesis3:1-not from GOD's perspective- Matthew 16:23.Your testimony of GOD's Word signifies nothing and is good for nothing. In fact, what I reply here is because of the readers, not you. What matters and prevails is the Word of GOD,the Word is GOD Himself- John 1:1 combined with 1John 5:7,and around 2000 years ago He,even GOD Himself, was made flesh and introduced Himself among men by the NAME of JESUS- Matthew 1:21-understand?Isaiah had prophesied, saying:"The Lord Himself shall give you a sign;Behold,a VIRGIN shall conceive, and bear a SON,and shall call His name Immanuel-Is.7:14-(it means: GOD with us).
These Truth torment your esoteric, and kabbalistic, and spiritist spirit,GOD CURSED the Devil, the tree of good and evil, the figtree. JESUS,In His Ministry, said to the Devil:Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY Word that proceedeth out of the MOUTH of GOD- Matthew 4:4. The Word is GOD, the Word is GOD Himself, and the Word of the MOUTH of GOD is LITERALLY written in 66 books, KING JAMES VERSION is an edition of the book of the Lord, it is called Bible.
Oh no, my Lord JESUS never accused anyone, as you said, also my Lord JESUS NEVER USED the NAMES of Satan you have listed here, these are more false testimonies of you of JESUS's Person, it's the spirit of you is acusing JESUS,he is the Accuser, he has blinded your eyes, your own devilish words leave clear you know not my Lord JESUS.
If the supposed"glorious name Yahweh,as you say"is in your heart, it means the Devil is in your heart.
You say "JESUS used the NAMES you have listed here in your prior posts speaking with His disciples or the people", but it is not true, it's fake of course. Actually you are stealthy preaching a false interpretation, your preaching is not different such it occurred in ancient event- Genesis 3:1-,a stumbling block for them which unfortunatelly may come to "eat" from you false testimony- Matthew 15:19.
The Word of GOD says not what you are saying. Now, now, the Word is GOD Himself, and He has only one NAME, ONLY AND ONLY ONE NAME,and His only NAME is not any of those which you have surreptitiously listed here as NAMES of GOD. Your thinking is from a human perspective, a stumblingblock- Genesis 3:1-, not from GOD's perspective- Matthew 16:23.
DIALOGUE BETWENN THE JEWS AND JESUS-Jo.8-41-45KJV
41 - The Jews said unto JESUS: We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42-44 -> 42 -JESUS said to the Jews:- If GOD were your Father ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God;neither came I of myself, but he sent me. (If??? hum!)
43 - JESUS said to the Jews: Why do ye not understand my speech? 44- JESUS openly and emphaticaly said to the Jews: Ye are of your father the Devil.
Every names you have listed are NAMES of the God of the Jews, NAMES od their father (as they said he is- John 8:41). But JESUS claried unto them their father is the Devil, whose NAMES you listed before:
By the way, in Re.12:9, JESUS said:And the great Dragon(the red Dragon)was (will be)cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world:he was cast out into the earth, and his messengers were cast out with him.
By the way,"red Dragon" is the new name of the Devil in this current time of Apocalypse.
Isa.9:6-For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His NAME shall be called THE MIGHTY GOD -JESUS-, Wonderful, Counsellor, The everlasting FATHER, The Prince of Peace.
I repeated the original evidence because there is not greater EVIDENCE than the everlasting Word of GOD, is there? The Word is GOD, the invisible, the Omnipotent, and Omniscient and Omnipresent GOD, for me it is He Who is "the Strong's identifier". The Word is self-executing / executable because the Word is GOD, understand? Psalm 33:9 - He -the Word- spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.
Yes,I stated that the added name Jehovah(a demonic name of Satan)is not in the original Scriptures as being GOD,Father of my Lord JESUS, but as Lucifer, the son of perdition, father of the Jews as said my Lord JESUS- John 8:44-,transfigured as God- Isaiah 14 combined with 2Thes.2:2-3 among other biblical references, and no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 2Corinthians 11:14. Be careful, for Satan is wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that can be hidden from him, understand? How can the believers fight against the devilish traps and strategies of the Devil if are not knowing so well the depths of Satan?
You said that If I think there's holes, how am I believe and trust the rest of it and where I draw the line,so I must say that the
limit of the line is in Genesis 2:16-17 and 3:1 combined with Matthew 16:23.Take a look.By the way,his throat is an open sepulchre
You said that I'm using a different translation, and asked so how I know its more accurate and not less accurate.Well, well, I used and am using the same source you used to quote Isaiah 12:1-2,right? Tell me:What Scripture is more accurate? The original Hebrew Scriptures,or the copies of the Hebrew Scriptures that were transcribed in a lot and different translations?
Furthermore, answer your question if I have any more evidence, so let me ask: Is there evidence more truer than the true Word of GOD? The evidence is the Word of GOD. The testimony of GOD is greater.
As you know, the Word of GOD is from everlasting to everlasting, the Word is GOD
Our Lord JESUS always said in advance what would go to happen to Him. For example Matthew 16:21: ->From that time forth began JESUS to shew unto His disciples, how that He must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Well, by the same Spirit of our Lord JESUS, we can say that each passing day His people, the believers, get closer to the beginning of the last seven years of the Devil's world- Matthew 24:15-25, and will also enter within the worst of evil environments, created and established by the Devil in whole Earth.
Get ready, yeah, get ready
Re.2:25-29
25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27 And he shall rule them with a ROD of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
28 And I will give him the morning star.
29 He that hath an ear, let him HEAR what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Re.9:1-3 & 6 & 11-12
1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
12 One WOE is past; and, behold, there come TWO WOES woes more hereafter. --> John 16:12-15
God chastises; no doubt many times in scripture because he is jealous for His Name's sake when idols were worshipped such as the golden calf; or a cursed item was stolen thus resulting in military defeat until the perpetrator was exposed.
Jesus went through the Temple casting out the moneychangers in John 2:17 reflected from the prophecy of Psalm 69 of zealous behavior because the Temple was to be a place of prayer for all nations ( Isaiah 56:7). (Zealous and jealous I would say are pretty similar). Judging by the violent overthrow of the tables and scattering of the animals this was no wimpy protest.
God's anger
Another act of Christ was excoriation of the Pharisees. This basically takes up all of Matthew 23. There was the effect of their hypocrisy on others as well as the love for the true law of God that led to such a tongue lashing here. These outer actions; of course came from a bad heart which Jesus doesn't mince words in describing here.
Much of Christ's anger was directed as righteous indignation and chastisement in order to establish the Disciples as men of God.
The fact that they didn't even grasp the necessity for His death on the cross until it happened helps to explain how they didn't get many of the lessons He intended to give them in the Parables; and other life lessons as they traveled with Him for over 3 years of His ministry. Seeing the incident with Peter in Matthew 16:17-23 we see a complete reversal of Christ stating that only God could have revealed who He was to Peter; to Him rebuking Peter just 6 verses later when he didn't want to allow Christ to fulfill His destiny because of thoughts that came from Satan. This shows that much of what God does is in response to supernatural prompts as it were that affect our actions or conversation. Peter was an open vessel; which was advantageous in receiving wisdom from above; but also let in Satan's ideas which attempted to stoke his own pride and self confidence
Mark 8:30 is one of several verses indicating Christ told people including the Disciples NOT to tell anyone who He was (namely; the Son of God). He spoke in Parables to hide things from all except those called and chosen (see Matthew 13:10).
When we survey the narrative of the Gospels it leaves us dumbfounded as to how anyone could not realize who Christ was. After all John the Baptist after baptizing a large amount of the entire population including the Pharisees warning them of who was to come identified Christ ( John 1:32 and recorded in Luke 3:22 as being accompanied by a voice from heaven). Only the Spirit could reveal this truth as we see in Matthew 16:17.
There are several reasons for this blindness. One is the god of this world who is mentioned as blinding men to the truth as illustrated in 2 Corinthians 4:4. The second was in the hidden counsels of God more than likely (See Deut. 29:29). If the wicked knew who He was they would have stopped it because it would have led to their guilt in the act and He would inevitably be Resurrected. Satan also may have not been involved because it would mean His defeat as prophesied in Genesis 3:15 (although he is insane enough to ignore what he probably should have known). Israel should have recognized that the suffering servant would also come back as conquering king. They would have waited until He established that Kingdom on earth without having a heart to truly worship Him; reminiscent of the group who finally rebels at the end of the Millennium period.
We need to squarely face this fact in terms of how the unregenerate view Christ. Any affinity one may have for Jesus apart from the grace of God bringing repentance is from a false Christ in our imaginations which inevitably brings a works based attempt at salvation or considering Him a great teacher or Prophet as was the case of those in Matthew 16:14. Church is the congregation of the Holy not a social club for comfort.
I already touched on man and some logic as to why God allowed for his fall. His foreknowledge; of course already planned for this with the redemption and atonement the Son of God was to fulfill at the set time here on earth.
One concept that must be considered in depth is that we need to be crucified with Christ in order to live ( Galatians 2:20). Similar doctrines are mentioned with verses such as Matthew 16:25-26 where Christ states that we are to lose our lives to gain eternal life as losing our SOUL is far worse. Christ came to bring life in reverse order to where it was lost; restoring the spiritual aspect first then later at the Rapture and Resurrection of the just PHYSICAL restoration. Again that illustrates that our spiritual state is at primary importance as our spirit lives on forever in whatever STATE it is at death.
The enemy is a master player and manipulator; going from persecution to self "affirmation" in order to decieve the masses. The lie of course remains the same; he promises life and freedom while stealing; killing and destroying the soul of an individual.
Considering my initial posting on this subject as to the vast superiority in strength of Satan over us (apart from Christ) I will continue to expound on what it means to have such resistance. Rewards come from suffering; we in a sense bring fullness to the Son of God Himself who will eventually rule and reign with us as kings and priests ( Rev. 5:10). Again; concepts such as losing our life to gain it is foreign to the flesh. God uses the enemies of our soul to buffet us and test our faithfulness. Those who don't really care about their spiritual "experience" as to its source can and inevitably WILL fall. When we see such verses as Revelation 13:8 we know that ALL unregenerate ultimately WILL worship the Antichrist beast. We realize that the difference between holy angels and fallen ones is if the Spirit is directing it or Satan.
Part Seven: Making the scripture applicable to us.
I do not practice what you call a prophetic gift. Nonetheless, when warning others of the admonitions of the Bible warning of implications and results of sins I usually feel that I have good enough foresight to be reasonably assured that results the Lord warns of will start to manifest in time. Following the principle of 2 Timothy 3:16 we find that exhortation along with teaching and the other things promised in that verse demonstrate multiple aplications of the same scripture (in this case the same verse).
In the example of Jesus warning Peter of a fall; He specifically knew (as God) the exact verbage that Peter would use and that he would deny Christ not once but three times. We certainly know that we can trust God as to the result eventually of any sin is death ( Ezekiel 18:20); and that certain sins lead to a given result (pride comes before a fall such as mentioned in Proverbs 16:18 which is said to be exactly half way through the Proverbs in terms of how the verses are organized in scripture).
Lust after women leads to adultery in one's heart ( Matt. 5:28). Such behaviors of course likely lead to actual adultery and the result for the unrepentant leads to hell ( Prov. 7:27).
It should be common sense that we need to heed OURSELVES to a love of the law of the Lord such as Psalm 119 covers in detail because we are saved from such an awful fate ourselves. We should always fear God (something uncommon today in "churchianity"). (see 2 Corinthains 5:11). Others don't need a pious litany of our virtues; but we need to be examples of God's people in a wicked and perverse generation (see Matthew 16:4-12 as well as the Epistles on the subject).
Another important point is that we must be doers of the Word not just proclaimers (see book of James). Studying the Word and not obeying was brought up already. We need a proper balance of evangelism and quiet times as well as time to rest.
The theory or doctrine of the Law was invented and was sowed by those which interpreted the Law from a human perspective, in fact a stumbling block- Genesis 3:1, not from GOD's perspective- Matthew 16:23.
JESUS said: John 7:38-He that believes on me,as the Scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Thus, about Sababath, for the understanding of all of us here,I would ask for you: Do you believe in the Word made flesh,Lord JESUS? You know that The Word is GOD,right? The Word made flesh-Lord JESUS-,He Himself preached,saying:Mat.11:17-All the prophets and the Law prophesied until John, period. Therefore,GOD Himself established the Law to last 1500 years, from Moses until JESUS,no more,no more than this.
See,JESUS was not abolishing the Law His Father gave to Moses,it's evident: JESUS and the Father are One,although be two distincts Persons- Hebrews 1:3 & 8-, so,in fact,JESUS was only clarifying the period of validity of the Law given to Moses by His Father. GOD the Father had established The Law by His own power, the period of validity or prevalence of the Law lasted from Moses until JESUS specifically, understand? And JESUS only preached what GOD commanded Him to say to the people.JESUS said:Jo.12:49-I have not spoken of myself;but the Father which sent me,He gave me a commandment, what I should say,and what I should speak.
That said, keeping the Sabbath day over time after grace came, i.e.after JESUS came, these people do not do this by the Spirit of Christ, but by the letter written in the stone, according OT,the letter kills, and also they keep Sabbath day according to the calendar created and developed by devilish/satanic worshipers of the Beast of sea-Revevelation 13:1-10.
The true followers of my Lord JESUS do not fight against the Law of GOD given to Moses, but against seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils, speaking lies in hypocrisy;having their conscience seared with a hot iron.
Christ's hidden attributes and first Advent (cont)
In general, Christ's arrival as a suffering servant which should have been clearly understood from Isaiah 53 was largely missed even by the 12 disciples who expected a conquering king. This was to be in the future; as was made clear by the reading of the scroll when Jesus read Isaiah 61:1 and stopped before 61:2 which involves His return. Christ knew what was in the heart of men ( John 2:24-25) so He didn't need anyone to explain themselves to Him. This discernment in the Spirit is a spiritual gift; but with Christ who was God in the flesh He had the fullness of the Spirit without limit ( John 3:34).
Christ also came to forgive men's sins. This was considered blasphemy by the religious leaders who immediately tried to stone Him in John 8:59 after these claims in verse 58 as being the "I am". Clearly; the contentious crowd at His trial before the crucifixion who demanded that He be crucified and Barabbas a murderer released showed the blindness of the condition of an unregenerate human heart. Judas Iscariot recognized through worldly sorrow that Christ was a righteous man that was betrayed ( Matthew 27:4 technically an "innocent man"); but the Centurion showed saving faith ( Matthew 27:54).
These passages demonstrate the importance of recognizing Christ as God the Son; not merely a good teacher or righteous man (see Matthew 16:13-20). The hidden significance of these things is still blinding the unregenerate ( 2 Cor. 4:3-4); and the Jews have been blinded until the time of the end as we seee in Romans 11:25. It is "in part" as there are Jews who recognize Christ (called Messianic Jews by some) but until Jesus is returning according to Zechariah 12-14 the nation as a whole won't recognize Him. This is quite remarkable as the world in general knows they are hiding from Christ and God's judgment during the sixth seal. This; no doubt is because of the epicenter of Antichrist's deception there.
The second part of Peter's confession, he says that Jesus is "the Son of the living God." This phrase (Son of the living God), if you ever have the time to look up that phrase from a Hebrew standpoint, you will find out that is the phrase that is used for God. The phrase "Son of the living God" to a Hebrew person is the same as calling Jesus God.
And please keep in mind that Jesus was accused of blasphemy for claiming to be the Son of God. Why did the Jews consider this to be blasphemy? It's because when Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, according to the Jews, He was claiming to be equal to God, God Himself. That's what that phrase means to a Jewish person.
What Peter was confessing was that you (Jesus) are the Messiah, and you are God. Wow, what a Confession! That is different than the public opinions, even in today's opinion on who Jesus is. But the importance is that everybody must settle it in their own hearts and minds about who Jesus is.
Was He just a great man? Was He just a great teacher? Was He a great healer? Was He a prophet? Was He the brother of Satan? Was He Michael the archangel? Or was He God in the flesh? Did Peter give the right answer?
In Matthew 16:17, Jesus answers Peter and says, "Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." Was Peter's response to the question on who Jesus is revealed to Him by God? And if God the Father revealed this to Peter, why should our answer be any different than Peter's when we asked this most important question about who Jesus is? Is He the Christ, the Son of the living God? Or is he someone else?
In Matthew 16:13-20, we see the public opinion of Jesus. Many theologians hold that this is the center of the Gospel, the public opinion on who Christ is. When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, He asked his disciples saying, and here's the first question of two, concerning public opinion:
First, Jesus asks, who do men say that I the Son of man am? The disciples responded to Jesus' question by giving Him the public opinion. They said that some say that you are John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
In our day, most everyone has an opinion about who Jesus is. Even religious groups, they will hold Him to be a prophet, or a rabbi, or a teacher. The Mormons say that Jesus is the brother of Satan. The Jehovah's Witnesses say that Jesus is Michael the archangel. Once people hear about Jesus, they form an opinion about who He is.
In Matthew 16:15, Jesus says to them, "But whom say ye that I am?" The first question is the public opinion. Now Jesus gets personal with those closest to Him. He asks His disciples, "But who do you say that I am?" You gave me the public opinion. Now I want you to answer the question. Who do you say that I am?
Please notice Peter's response in Verse 16. Peter says, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." There are two parts to this confession, "Thou art the Christ," and "the Son of the living God." Christ is the translation of the Greek word that is the same as the Hebrew word for Messiah (MESHIACH), and it means the anointing. The Jews believed that when Messiah came, He would be the anointing of God in human form. And that's who He is, God in human form!
So let's begin with Jesus. Matthew 7:15: "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves." And the word beware means all of us should be alert, but especially shepherds, to identify not just false teaching, but false teachers, whose ways are subtle. They're clothing themselves with lamb's wool while they're wolves.
And Paul used the same Greek word for beware in Acts 20:28-29 when he said, "Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. . . . I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock."
"IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE FLOCK, WE SHOULD EXPOSE FALSE TEACHERS AND MINIMIZE THE SPREAD OF THE GANGRENE."
Jesus used the same word again in Matthew 16:6, but he got more specific: "Watch and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." Paul had the same kind of group in mind and the same kind of error in mind in Philippians 3:2 and 3:18: "Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh." And then verse 18:
"For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ." Then in Romans 16:17, he warned, "Watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them."
We will meet up when God wills it, either in this life or the life to come which will last forever.
We do need to be wise and watchful concerning the genuine truth of God vs. truth that man thinks is genuine. I wish that all believers would all have the same genuine truth of God, but for reasons we do not understand, God has allowed so much diversity within the body of Christ as to doctrine and practice. Perhaps it is for us to practice love and patience, forbearance and gentleness in teaching one another, especially with those who may not believe exactly as we do ourselves.
I imagine when we are resurrected, we will be very humbled by realizing that what we thought to be genuine truth of God and His ways and His Word really does not even touch the surface of the depths of the wisdom, knowledge, will, grace, and truth of God in Christ.
Every day that God gives us to live in this first life is filled with opportunities to worship Him, serve Him, serve others, speak the truth to ourselves and others, exercise the love of Christ to those we come in contact with in the day that God gives us, and also to have our faith be tested in order to drive us to the Word to have His Spirit bring us into truth and instruct us on how to live this day, today, for the Lord and for the benefit of others.
Fred, I am glad that you are back posting. I always enjoy your wisdom. Thanks for giving it out to those who have been called to be children of God.
OK, Ronald, but having read your reply I see it deserves or even requires an important clarification not only for you, but for everyone's knowledge here, as follow:
I highlight your point and I must consider it very important to "have a heart of love towards others as brothers and sisters" as you said in your reply. But it is important to highlight also this desirable behavior only exists and happens when the Truth is spoken, GOD is the Truth; Then, when someone speaks out having a heart of love as Peter in Matthew 16:22-23(take a look), that kind of "love" manifestation actually is a stumbling block, and it creates a deadly environment, as can be seen in Genesis 3:1&5.
That said, it is essential to discern the spirit(s) as JESUS discerned in- Matthew 16:22-23- , in order not to fall into the Devil's trap.
Be careful or then get ready
On the other hand, I don't bellit people, neither I feel superior, as you suggest in your reply, and who Judges is the Word of GOD, not me, the Word is GOD, understand? By the way, the Word of GOD is quick -the Word is GOD- , and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged Sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a DISCERNER of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we must give an account.
By the way, my Lord JESUS left very clear, saying: "out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, false witness, blasphemies, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts: These are the things which defile a man- Matthew 15:19-20
1 Corinthians 6:2-3
2 Do ye not know that the saints shall Judge the world?
3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? (angels of the Churches)
My name is Oseas, in English language Hosea, in Hebrew Hoshea, or even Joshua- Numbers 13:16.
You should remember that the Word of GOD reveals(the Word is GOD,self-executing)that"The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron- 1 Timothy 4:1-2.
You are "asking for prayer for the world" because(as you said) "there's so much going on right now", but remember: What is happening it is the LITERAL fulfillment of the prophetic Word of GOD, so the most important is to be focused in the fulfillment of Scriptures as is written:"Woe to the earth(Israel)and the sea(Gentile nations), because the Devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short."
There is no prayer that can change the course of the fulfillment of prophecies, see what happened to Peter when he suggested something contrary to the Scriptures- Matthew 16:22-23.
1John 5:18-20:-->18 We know that whosoever is born of GOD sinneth not; but he that is begotten of GOD keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
19And we know that we are of GOD, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
20And we know that the Son of GOD is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true, and we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true GOD, and eternal life.
Also remember:To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:A time to be born, and a time to die;a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;A time to get,and a time to lose;a time to keep, and a time to cast away;a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;a time of war, and a time of peace, and so on-Eccl.3:1-8.
For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry-Heb.10:37.
Here's my take on "binding and loosing. Matthew 16:19 says, "and I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven:" Here it's singular. In Chapter 18 it's plural, so it's not just Peter, but all of them!
Keys is a Hebrew symbol of authority. A person that had the keys was in charge. He says I'll give you the keys, the authority. We know keys unlock things for entrance.
Literal translation of Matthew 16:19:
"And whatsoever thou shall bind on earth shall (have been) bound in heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, shall (have been) loosed in heaven."
The Perfect Tense verbs in the Greek text tell me that Jesus is not giving them or the church the authority to go around binding and loosing. In Chapter 18, Matthew tells us that it has do with sin.
In 1 John 3:8, the word "loosed" is used for how Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.
When a person gets saved, they are loosed from Satan. So the church has authority to either bind someone to their sins or loose them from their sins. What gives us that authority? It's something that has already been established in heaven.
Thou shalt bind that which has been bound already in heaven. It's a condition. And thou shall loose on earth things that shall have been loosed in heaven already. The church is here to declare that which has already been determined in heaven. We're only proclaimers!
What right do I have to tell anybody that they need to receive Christ and His death for them on the cross to be saved? I have the authority to tell people that we've got the key. We (Christians) have got the key that unlocks the door. His name is Jesus!
If you receive Him, I have the authority to tell you that you have been loosed from your sins. If you refuse Him, I have the authority to tell you that if you continue to reject Him throughout your whole life, you'll be bound to your sins and you will die in your sins.
Back to the discussion we were having. My thoughts about that and what I have been tought are:
In Matthew 16:19 and John 20:21-23, Jesus gives the apostles the right to forgive sins. So what does that mean? That they can take God's right to forgive or not? Well this doesn't sound right, does it?
I will go to that incident in Corinth whre a brother was having an affair with his father's wife. Paul suggests the members of that church to ( 1 Cor 5:4-5) " 4In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,5To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus."
A similar case is described in Matthew 18:15-18. It is the case that a brother sins to another brother and dispite the church telling him to repent he wouldn't repent, so Jesus said "17And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.18Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
The above are cases that the church has the right to bind and free, forgive or not. The right of the church to exlude somebody from the congregation and deliver him to satan.
But a question may arise. What if the church is wrong and the specific brother is right. We know from history that many churches took advantage of those verses and exluded believers for all sort of reasons, even political reasons. I firmly believe that in such cases God doesn't pay any attention to such decisions, actualy He is the one who forgives or not.
But I would also like others to comment on those verse and see what they believe.
Before I turn in, here's one I meant to ask you about.
You gave your interpretation on John 20:21-23. and paralleled it with Matthew 16:19.
Here's how it went.
Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.,
You interpreted this passage of scripture as the following;
( We, the church, have the right to forgive or retain the sins of people, only that it has to be done according to God's will.)
Giannis we don't have "The right " to forgive or retain the sins of people!
I believe as ambassadors for Christ We have the Gospel to present to the lost sinner. If you win a soul by way of the Gospel, you have loosed on earth that is already loosed in Heaven.
It costs something to be a disciple of Christ. To live for Christ is to let go of all our possessions, pick up our cross, and follow Him. We no longer live for ourselves, we live for the King. If Jesus can die on the cross for our sins, the least we can do if give him our life and proclaim the gospel to the whole world. "If you have not chosen the Kingdom of God first, it will in the end make no difference what you have chosen instead. By: William Law
"If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple." Luke 14:26
Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. "For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." Matthew 16:24-25
"We have suffered from the preaching of cheap grace. Grace is free, but it is not cheap. People will take anything that is free, but they are not interested in discipleship. They will take Christ as Savior but not as Lord." By: Vance Havne
Jesse, Jesus tells us that its impossible to live a worldly life, and still follow him!
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: WHO CAN KNOW IT?
Sometimes just because it felt right doesn't mean it was right, or spirit led.
Look at Peter in Matthew 16:22-24.
Peter never knew what get behind Christ meant until the filling of the Holyspirit.
Afterwards Peter ministered boldly the rest of his life knowing his fate.
"He would die".
I believe God gave his Church ministers Teachers, Preachers, ect and instructions by Paul how to function for orderly conduct.
And I believe that's whenever, wherever and however we meet.
I so called spiritually and Holy conduct shouldn't turn up a few notches upon entering the Church buildings.
We are a called out people who should carry out our orderly and organized conduct to a visual and conflicting world.
Christ was the head of the Church and even though he came to gather the lost sheep of Israel, he conducted himself the same way outside of Jerusalem as he did inside Jerusalem.
If we stay behind Christ and his word we will be Spirit led and when we get off course it's the Spirit that will correct us.
To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I (Paul) forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
Doesn't the above remind us of the discussion Peter had with Jesus:
Matthew 16:19,
"And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
Also when Jesus appeared to his disciples after His resurrection?
John 20:21-23,
"21Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. 22And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: 23Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
We, the chuech, have the right to forgive or retain the sins of people, only that it has to be done according to God's will.
GOD bless
Adam
Agape. RP
Be careful- 2Peter 3:7&11-12 & Isaiah 33:10-14
(Part 2):
(Part 1):
BEWARE OF THE WOLVES.
God bless.
Fred, Haven't heard from you for a while. Welcome back to posting!
The Word is GOD, self-executing.
Be careful and get ready
Blessings to you both!!!
Have a blessed week.
Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.,
You interpreted this passage of scripture as the following;
Only Christ can forgive sins.
God bless and Goodnight.
GBU
God bless.
To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I (Paul) forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
