When did Jesus say "For where two or three are gathered together in my Name, there am I in the midst of them", i.e. how many years ago.

Debra Miller - your concerns are well founded. Per those pastors of the C of C then I suppose all the people who died before they were created in the 1800's were never saved. You will also find the Seventh Day Adventists and the Jehovah's Witnesses had roots in the Millerite movement. Individuals inside these groups may be very faithful to Christ, but my experience with any large organization is not positive. Personally I believe small home churches are the future of the true church of the Lord.

Jesus said: Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Isn't there somewhere in the Bible that says we each have our own personal guardian angel? The only place I can find that would come close to a personal guardian angel would be in Matthew 18:10. I was raised Southern Baptist but later became Independent Baptist and was always taught that as a young girl.

I agree with you. Matthew 18:20
Again I say to you, that if two of you shall AGREE on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

Lord please bless this fathers faith and speedily give your answer. You know all the days of our life. They are recorded in your book. Bless the prayers of this whole family may their church stand alongside & bear them up in prayer. In Jesus name.

My friend, come now, let us reason together, saith the Lord. For God is not willing that any should perish, Matthew 18:11, John 3:16 Of his Son it is said the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised," "To preach the acceptable year of the Lord." The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9; Luke 4:18

God is a fair judge. People who die without being exposed to the truth will be judged fairly. Young children who die will be judged fairly ( Matthew 18:3). People who were murderers committing massive evil acts for 99% of their life then accept Christ right before death will be judged fairly ( Romans 14:12). There is no reason to believe God will be unfair in judging anyone under every situation ( Psalms 7:11).

Veres 15 -17 If we a person doing something that is wrong, you need to go to them, if they do not hear you, go and bring one or two witnesses, and if they don't hear them take them before the Church, and if they don't hear cast them out has a heathen. We could stop a lot of foolish things that go on in our Churches if we do it like the bible say do it, causes people don't want to come in front of the Church and get embarrassed.
  • Adam - In Reply - 5 years ago
In that case, Matthew 18:3 is one that shows children are innocent. Isaiah 7:15 is a vague mention of children coming to age of knowing right wrong.
  • Adam - In Reply - 5 years ago
Hello, check out Matthew 18:3. Children up to a certain age of mental development are considered innocent and blameless. I believe those who die will go to heaven. God forgives us of sin with no limit on frequency or severity if we are genuinely following Jesus. 70x7 and far beyond. Heb 10:17. Note that many think they're Christians following Jesus, but are not. Matthew 7:21-23. God bless.

Verily I say unto you, Except YE BE CONVERTED, and become as little children, YE SHALL NOT enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall HUMBLE himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Amen

Then the Lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took HIM by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. Should not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his LORD was wroth:

the text is very clear that God's presence is in those who gather in His name regardless of number. It shows that God is not after the number of people in a gathering because of His name like bible studies, prayer meeting, etc. And He did not say that if you are alone praying He is not with...

How is it that you boast of yourself, saying, By my own sight I did much! and, By my own hand I obtained much! Yet ye ignore the grace of God then, and confess not your own sins now: saying, God is all powerful and no man can resist his will, so why should I repent? Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Tsk tsk... Those of you pushing denominational worship and "rule of the church" are actually WRONG... Many times over the Holy Bible warns of "the sects" and being "decieved by false teachings"... I mean according to each denomination, everyone else is doomed to the lake of fire... Nowhere in the Bible does it state that we must report to a designated building to worship him...

Jesus teaches us in this chapter to cut of anything or anyone who tempts us in life. But also a few verses down He teaches that if he is our brother or sister in Christ, before we cut them of there are steps of trying to help them. If those steps don't work, only then cut them off. Praise God for this wisdom!

Verse 8~If something or someone is making us stumble spiritually we may need to take strong action and get away from that person or thing and draw close to Jehovah God.
