Hi Dense In Mathew 1:16 Scripture state and Jacob begat joseph the husband of mary of whom was born Jesus who was born Christ. Jesus Christ had sinless blood because the seed was from God Luke 1:30-35 the human side was mary, human prodigy is passed on through the father I.E. His seed. In leviticus 17: 11 The life of the flesh is in the blood jesus Christ has sinless blood that's genealogy. Prayerfully this helped God Bless

Hi , I believe that Mary was also descended from king David , she is a descendant of Nathan who was one of David's sons , David had quite a few sons .
  • Dense on Matthew 1 - 3 years ago
It is confusing to me that Jesus's linage is assigned to David when Joseph was not his father and no part of Jesus has the DNA of Joseph. It is Mary's line from which he arose and that is never mentioned or explained in the bible. By the way I am not a feminist so that is not the root of this question.

    Thanks

Brother Glenn, you are right, in this flesh NO ONE is equal to God; but when we depart this flesh the ONLY thing that remains is SPIRIT.

    John 4:14 God is Spirit.....

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY, and ONE SPIRIT ....

Christ died for us; WE (ourselves, flesh) have to die (be destroyed) for Christ (Spirit).

1 Corinthians 5:4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, and the POWER of our Lord Jesus Christ,

1 Corinthians 5:5 To deliver such a one (flesh) unto Satan for the DESTRUCTION of the flesh, that the SPIRIT MIGHT BE SAVED in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Isaiah 9:20 An he (flesh) shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he (flesh) shall eat on the left hand, and they (flesh) shall not be satisfied: they (flesh) shall eat every man the flesh of their own right hand.

Isaiah 49:26 And I (Spirit) will feed them with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and ALL FLESH shall know that I the Lord (Spirit) am thy SAVIOUR and thy REDEEMER, the mighty one of Jacob.

Ecclesiastes 4:5 The fool foldeth his hands together, and eateth his on flesh.

2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the ABUNDANCE OF the REVELATIONS, there was given me a THORN IN THE FLESH, (which is) the messenger of Satan (flesh) to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.

Sister Dianne, thank you, I do agree we have to have our mind renewed by the word of God. I agree it is a life long process, also.
  • Dianne - In Reply on Matthew 1 - 3 years ago
Earl In your one commentary about having the mind of Christ you never mentioned about renewed mind or we have to put on the word to do that, important little detail. That is not something to be assumed Other wise I agree with what you say. God Bless

Sister Dianne, I didn't say it was instant. Being sanctified by the words of God take our physical lifetime; but we can know TRUTH NOW of what is to come.
  • Dianne - In Reply on Matthew 1 - 3 years ago
Earl I do understand your scripture but you are saying that when we get born again we instantly think like Christ then why do we still sin, because if we had perfect spiritual minds we would have perfect spiritual thoughts and walk by the spirit perfectly, then why does it say in Romans 12:2 Renew your mind, also your Right it says let this mind be in you it doesn't say it's instant, also 2 Corinthians 10:5 bring every thought to the obedience of Christ. The apostle Paul wrote about it in Romans 7:15-23 in verse 23 he says warring against the law of my mind. There's an old saying ideas capture men not weapons. Our weapon is the word retained in our minds which is developed as we walk on the word the spirit is perfect. We still battle with the old man nature or human reasoning it must be brought to obedience by us putting on the Love of God in Christ. If this is what your saying. okay God Bless

Amen Bro. Earl Bowman i enjoy reading your post. We gotta keep the new birth in mind from that heavenly Seed . which is a Hint that we are gona birth a baby Christ which is the H.G. GOD The CHILD OF Promise ,unless ya receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in. In both case Psalms 82 and Matthew 13 he is saying something to us that is gonna result in a birth making us Gods. His words ( conversation ) are gonna initiate a BIRTH OF Christ in us which is the H.G. THE Child of Promise and the H.G is truly God. ( Emamuel ) God with us. I will KNOW them all from the least to the greatest which is an intimacy that is gonna result in a birth of Christ in us. Whosoever receiveth one such Child in my name Receiveth me . The very fact that Jesus tells us the Kingdom of God is gonna be with in US Proves we are gonna be Gods . The Kingdom of God in all its GLORY IS NOTHIN LESS THEN GOD. PERIOD. The Marriage supper of the Lamb is gonna gonna make us 1 with our God which is the H.G. Emanuel God with us.

Earl with all due respect we will never be equal with God, we have his spirit now which is perfect but we still have corrupt bodies, we will not be made perfect until we are resurrected from then this mortal will put on immortality if that's what you are saying okee dokee. If not that's okay its your privilege. God Bless

    Sister Dianne:

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be IN YOU, which was ALSO IN Christ Jesus:

Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be EQUAL with God.

Romans 8:7 But the carnal mind is enmity against God .....

1 Corinthians 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that we may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
  • Earl Bowman - In Reply on Matthew 1 - 3 years ago
Sister dianne, nothing is out of context. i quoted 1 timothy 5:16 and 1 corinthians 15:38. that is the resurrected body.

1 timothy 6:16 who (christ) only hath immortality (life with no end).....

1 corinthians 15:38 but god giveth it (the elect) a body.....and to every (elect) his (christ) own body.

you are the body of christ.

    he is the resurrection.

    Saints equal with God?

I am curious to know where you encountered this concept.

To be equal with God we must first judge God's value and merit.

One quick response is that the Jews sought to stone Jesus when they perceived His claim of equality with God, as in John 5:18.

    Also look at

I John 3:20 - God is greater than our hearts

Psalm 61:2 - God is higher than us

Psalm 89:27 - God will make Christ higher than the kings of the Earth

Ecclesiastes 5:8 - God is higher than the highest

    If you will know them by their fruits, let's look to our ways;

Isaiah 55:9 - God's ways are infinitely higher than ours

Job 15:6 - We are unclean

Isaiah 64:6 - NOTHING we do could measure up to God's righteousness

That is a very big and significant thing to say, to claim anyone as an equal with God.

As a comparison, there is one very heretical sect which believes we will judge God.

Clearly, just based upon the references I have listed, their claim is not the least bit credible.

Such statements cannot stand of their own merit nor of that of their speaker.

Equality with God or standing in judgment of God would be enormous claims requiring substance to back them up.

Big claims are either big truths or big falsehoods. Not everyone can determine the difference.

You may or may not be a great theologian or an academic authority.

Even such titles wouldn't be enough for a common joe like me.

Being that this is a Biblical site, answers of that magnitude carry credibility only when they are backed by Scriptural reference.

    Otherwise;

If I wanted to debate you, it would be difficult because I don't see here where your basis is or how to clarify a dissent.

If I wanted to agree with you, well, again, your basis is not shown, so I would be at some degree of loss in composing a reply.

On any subject, but especially such a profound claim, let authority be Sola Scriptura and let Scripture interpret Scripture.
  • Dianne - In Reply on Matthew 1 - 3 years ago
Earl we are going to judge the world at the end with Christ in a resurrected body, not our current bodies, with all due respect there's a few things pulled out of context of usage. That being said it's your privilege to believe what you choose. God Bless
  • Earl Bowman - In Reply on Matthew 1 - 3 years ago
Vernard, when Christ (the SPIRIT) has COMPLETED his WORK in us we will be equal to God (SPIRIT). NOT being God the Father or Christ the Lord; but equal in all that they are. The SAME AND EQUAL in love, mercy, truth, wisdom, understanding, judgement; everything they are, we WILL BE.

The Saints are going to JUDGE the world with Christ; how can they judge righteous judgements without being EXACTLY like Christ in all attributes. We will be gods in respect to being EQUAL in all ways; But not Being God the Father or Christ the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:38 But God GIVETH it (the SEED) a body as it hath pleased him, and to every SEED his (CHRIST) own body.

1 Timothy 6:16 Who ONLY hath immortality (LIFE without end), Dwelling in the light which not man can approach unto (without HIM), whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
  • Dianne - In Reply on Matthew 1 - 3 years ago
Hi Vernard The word saint in the church epistles is the word hagios which means holy seperate or set apart, it applies to primarily to people who God set apart spiritually, in all the church epistles in the first few verses you will notice called to be saints or to the saints it applies to us who God has separated from the darkness of this world Believing Romans 10:9+10 born again. In regards to equal with God have no idea where that's coming from. God Bless

There's plenty of scriptures to make what you said powerful. Bless you.

The Scriptures about the Godhead. Sometimes called "Let Us..." in some passages. These scriptures are evidence of all 3 persons of the Godhead speaking to each other.

    Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7

    Isaiah 6:8

    Romans 1:20

    Colossians 2:9

    Acts 17:27-30

    1 John 5:7

    John 10:30

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and GODHEAD so that they are without excuse:"

    Genesis 1:1

    The Father purposes

The Word (Jesus) speaks. ( John 1:1)

The Spirit (Holy Spirit) executes the spoken word. Action.

All working together. Jesus came to show us the Father, as Emmanuel.

    Matthew 1:23

"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

Jesus came to bring to each born again believer; the baptism and the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit.

    [ Genesis 1:2, John 3:6, Acts 2:1-3, John 16: 7-15]

I scribbled all the scripture references inside my Bible cover.
  • Chris - In Reply on Isaiah 7 - 3 years ago
Hello Eric. We're so pleased to see the progress you're making with your systematic Bible reading. And you've now reached this great portion of Scripture in Isaiah.

Isaiah 7:14: "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." It is true, that Immanuel is a Proper Name, but as I understand the significance of this prophecy, it was given as a sign to King Ahaz of Judah that before this Child (Immanuel) would be a little boy, the land & people who conspired to attack Judah would be made desolate & destroyed.

So the impact of this sign to Ahaz was that firstly, God would enable a virgin to conceive, & secondly, that the Child's Name would signify that this was no ordinary babe that has arrived by no ordinary birth. His coming would be that 'God is now with us', or in the Hebrew, "with us, is God". So, I don't believe that the name Immanuel was to become Jesus' Name, but that by inference, the Name would signify the Presence of God now with His people. For example, one could exclaim: this is Jesus Christ, our Immanuel!

In Matthew 1:21-25, we see the fulfillment of this prophecy, as the angel proclaimed to Joseph that this Babe will be named Jesus, fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah of Immanuel's coming, i.e. the arrival of God in human form. To give this meaning further support, we could consider Isaiah 9:6, where we read that this coming One would be called, "Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace". See also Jeremiah 23:5,6 (a righteous Branch, The Lord our Righteousness). In very Truth, Jesus was the embodiment of all these Divine attributes, but no one in Israel ever called Him by any of those names. So these names, as also Immanuel, can be understood to be representative of Who this Jesus is: truly God & now called Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God in His incarnation. The Lord bless you in your reading & understanding of His Word.

Hello Nelvan. From the Bible, we understand that before Jesus came to Earth as a Man, He was in Heaven, within the Godhead, as the Word of God (see John 1:1-4,14). God has chosen to express Himself to us as the Almighty God from Whom proceeds His Word & His Spirit - just one God in His Fulness ( 1 John 5:7).

"Can God die?" No, God is Spirit, He cannot die and none in the spirit realm can die since no physical body is present. One day we will die because our aging bodies must perish. But our spirits which cannot die, will return to God ( Ecclesiastes 12:7).

But Jesus died, because God chose to send forth His Word to us a sinful people. And that Word became flesh ( John 1:14) & He was named Jesus ( Matthew 1:21-25), so that the people not only had God's final Word to them coming in human form ( John 8:42,43), but He also came as a man for the "suffering of death" ( Hebrews 2:9), that He should "taste death for every man". And this, Jesus did for us, so that when we believe on Him, confessing our sins, God will forgive us & accept us, only because He accepted His Son's death as a full & complete payment for our sins ( John 3:16-18).

So God Who is Spirit cannot die, but when He sent His Word to become a man, then yes, God did give us His life for us. But as you may know, the account doesn't end there: Jesus arose from death & the grave, ascended to Heaven in His glorified body & is seated now at God's right Hand where His Testimony is ever present before all in Heaven & Earth ( Hebrews 10:12; 7:25) - God's sacrificial Lamb Who was once slain and is now the only reason for our acceptance by God.

Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 1:26-38 explain this very well, Mary (a virgin) was found with child of the Holy Ghost before Joseph knew her. I hope this helps.

Matthew 1:18 "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost." 19 "Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily." 20 "But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost."

Matthew 1:25 "And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS."

Luke 1:35 "And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God."
