Mary 's Father 's name was also Joseph so this is her lineage not her husband 's. And thru Nathan the prophet.

I dont know why we just cant take things just as they actualy are, lets just face it., Joseph had intimacy with his wife Mary, whats wrong with that? Joseph biologically fathered children with her, come on now!! we think he wasnt gonna touch his wife?

George,In my little knowledge Mary is not a virgin after Jesus birth.Even if we cannot read literally Mary 's delivered her second child. But in 2nd Cor.1 13 Paul says what you read or understand so my understanding is infavor that Mary 's is not a virgin are based of the following verses in Matt. 13 54 56, Mark 6 3 testimonies of there neighbors the brothers sisters of Jesus, John 7 1 3 his brothers said depart from here, Matt.12 46 47 someone said your mother brothers stood outside, Luk 2 7 the word first born Son could be understand that there is a second child so forth, but if the word used is begotten Son was delivered for me Mary 's is a virgin, Gal. 1 18 20 Apostle Paul testimony James the brother of Jesus, Acts 1 14 the mother brothers of Jesus. These verses infavor me that Jesus has a brothers sisters.

Satanel evil one , is under an eternal judgment, not discerning a tree of knowledge of good and evil. Adam sinned, though they were both reliant upon God to locate them in a garden. Adam though he sinned was placed on earth to till and to offer, he received his due portion, his satisfaction. The consequence of original sin is despair, distress, domination, agressive behavior one nature man against another as the son of Adam in Cain proved. Grace and peace to the people of God through Isseio, the Christ, this day and always , amen.

Verse 23 says that the child 's name should be Emmanuel but verse 25 says that he ends up being called Jesus. Please excuse my ignorance, but why is this, please? Thanks.
  • George Hartwell on Matthew 1 - 10 years ago
I had always understood that many christians believe that Mary was always a virgin. Verses 24 and 25 seem to imply that she and Joseph "came together " after Jesus was born. Could anyone clarify this point for me, please? Thanks.

I wonder why it is that we are given the genealogy that shows Joseph 's ancestors, but then we are told that Joseph is not Jesus ' father after all? Does this not make the genealogy meaningless?

Jesus Christ ordained Family, Matthew shows us he had a Family. The Gospel according to Matthew let 's us know that this is Matthews view. What Matthew saw, what he experienced and how he interpret it. This was the best ways to present Jesus ancestors to a Jewish audience of that time. Because a person 's family line proved his standing as one of Gods choose people being the Son of Abraham a descendant.

As to the blood line of Christ. I am more interested in the line of Mary, as Joseph is not the father. Where do we find the blood line of Mary? We know that Christ is of the House of David, so Mary must be too?

  • Bronwyn on Matthew 1 - 10 years ago
If Mary was known to be pregnant when Joseph married her, Jesus must have been born early in the marriage before 9 months . Would He and His family have suffered recrimination for this apparent illegitimacy? Also, would He have been able to claim through Joseph the bloodline of David, and therefore really be King of the Jews? Maybe this is why the Romans scoffed so much INRI at His crucifixion.
