thank you for sending me this I really thank you and I was thinking about becoming a mother when I get older I'm only 16 now but I was watching a guy named young don where he talked a lot about Christianity and his journey of being a Christian man and he was the person who really inspired me to start reading the bible and praying the lord daily and also not only that but growing a powerful connection with god and a very strong bond with Jesus. And just thank the lord daily and ask him to forgive me for my sins not only that but I really think about all the evil things that I did in the past and how messed up I was as a human being and as a child of god now I realized how blinded I was to the world and how I always ran from god himself but I now I realized that I will no longer do such a thing and instead I will praise him and thank Jesus every single minute of the day for keeping me alive and well and also healthy and also protecting my family and me as well.

    Hi Savanah.

    I concur with Sammi.

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 1Peter 2:2.

    God bless you.

    Repenting.

First of all, you need to repent and believe in the lord Jesus Christ.

then seek him with all your heart and mind by prayer and fasting.

    Acts 16:25-40

31 And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."

The grace of God and our Lord Jesus Christ be with you amen

To change your ways you need a change of heart . Read your Bible . Learn who your God is , learn who Jesus is . Allow God and Jesus into your heart and mind and let them take you over . This won't happen over night . You are at the start of a very personal journey that will take the rest of your life . The Bible is the best place to start .

Hi Mark. My understanding of Matthew 1:18-23, is that the angel, in a dream, told Joseph that he should take Mary to be his wife and the child that will be born from her is to be named "Jesus". So, the angel didn't give the name 'Emmanuel' to Joseph.

Then Matthew confirms that this would happen because of the prophecy that went before Jesus (i.e. in Isaiah 7:14), that His Name will be called, Immanuel. So, it seems that Matthew is giving further proof from prophecy that what the Holy Spirit was about to do was entirely from God and not man - i.e. Jesus would be Immanuel, God with us. So, Jesus is His Name, but Immanuel explains His Origin and Coming to the World.

    Hey Mark.

Matthew 1:23 is a quote from Isaiah 7:14 a prophecy of the coming of the Messiah. In Matthew 1:25 we see Joseph named Him JESUS. The Hebrew name is Yehoshua the shorter Yeshua, a Greek form of Joshua a derivative of the word Hoshea meaning Yahweh saves.

His name became Iesous in Greek because of the Greek alphabet and from there to Latin, so the modern name Jesus comes from the Latin word Iesus which does not mean hail Zeus. If we call and pray in the name of the English word Jesus, I think God understands what we are saying. I am sure in all the other languages in the world there are many names for our savior.

Some things have entered into traditions and interpretations, but this is not one of them.

    Hope this helps.

    God bless,

    RLW

    Hello Gigivi80

I will encourage you to trust in what the Scriptures say about salvation in Jesus Christ and also warn you not to trust in dreams as a source of divine revelation. Duncan has spoken well to you, also.

If you have not placed your faith in Jesus and His death and resurrection, I will urge you to do so immediately. There is a link on this site "How To Become a Christian" which will lead you to Scripture verses related to receiving the salvation we can have through Jesus. You could also go to the site "Got Questions" and ask "What does the Scriptures about salvation." This is a good site that gives solid biblical information.

I will pray for you tonight, Gigivi80. Let me know more about you, so I can pray more for you.

Dear Heavenly Father, we come in the name of Jesus, Your Son and our Savior. We ask that You will draw Gigvi80 to You through the work of Your Holy Spirit and help Gigivi80 to come to know You through your Son, Jesus. Amen.

    Hi Giannis,

    Thank you for your reply.

What I was wandering, is that Mary was a virgin and didn't have a human father.

I guess that no one knew at that time that she was a virgin.

Then Joseph kind of Adopted Jesus so prophecy would be fulfilled.
  • Giannis - In Reply on Matthew 1 - 2 years ago
Although Mary was linked to Jesus by blood, her children belong to Joseph's tribe. Example, if a father is from the tribe of Levi and a mother from Judah, children belong to the tribe of father, that is Levi. So genealogy always goes through the tribe of father, not mother.
  • Kh4800 on Matthew 1 - 2 years ago
Shows genealogy of Joseph who was not the blood father of Jesus.

I don't know why this is mentioned.

Why did it not do the same for Mary , who is linked to Jesus by blood.

Ezekiel 44, Ezekiel 44:2-3, possibly the prophecy for Luke 19:28-48, Luke 21, notice Luke 21:37, Matthew 21, Mark 11, Notice Mark 11:16, Mark 12 Jesus still in the Temple Mark 13, notice Mark 13:1,3, as noted Jesus went & left, the same direction. John 10:23,

    Ezekiel 44:16,17, Revelation 7 note Revelation 7:14,15,

Ezekiel 47:1-10, healing living water, John 7:38, John 4:11,13,14, Matthew 9:35, Fishers, Ezekiel 47:9,10, Jeremiah 16:16, Matthew 4:19, Mark 1:17,

If you look at Ezekiel 1:1,2,3, they were already going into captivity as Prophesied by Isaiah 39:1-7, 2Kings 24:15, Jeremiah 52:31, before Daniel, Ezra & Nehemiah before the return & rebuilding, Ezekiel 48 - end; might have been the divine blueprint for the temple that was rebuilt before Jesus was born

    Matthew 1:17

    Re Matthew

3batches of 14 generations=42 generations, with Jesus being number 42(implied). But counting the generators puts Jesus as no. 41 NOT. 42(count the generators and see Jesus as no.41)

THERE'S a MISSING GENERATOR!Who is the missing generator?

My claim is that, because each member of the church is directed to REACH ONE TO ADD TO THE BODY OF CHRIST.WE ARE THE MISSING GENERATION!..Each one REACH ONE.This makes sense further since many single believers can't be a generator due to their singleness!

What say you to this missing generator must be included to get the 42 generators?

Well it does not. But Jesus told us to render unto Caesar what is his. Paul said submit to the Govt..

So unless the Law contradicts the Bible we must follow it or its sin to disobey it.

Genesis 3:14,15, just like then, the trick & deception was within twisting the WORDs. Genesis 3:1-4,

    Woman's seed = Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:26-37,

    Son of wickedness = 1Samuel 25:17, John 8, Luke 22:3, John 13:2,

    Matthew 4, Matthew 9:32-33, Matthew 23:25-39,

    Don't be in fear. 1John 4:18, Luke 12:5, Psalms 34:9, Exodus 20:20, James 4:7,

The enmity Jesus faced: John 19:6,

    * Matthew 12,

Events seem to be GOD's timing = Noah Genesis 6,7, Abraham 14 generations, to David as references in Matthew 1:17, including within those 400+ years in Egypt, Abraham himself being old before birth of Isaac. & Genesis 15:16.

    Revelation 6:9,10,11, Revelation 17:14-17, James 5:7,

it appears to me that the final martyr of GOD's beloved, will ignite. Like the other events in the written Word.

    Hebrews 1:13, Matthew 24, Mark 13,

As a loving Father, HE appears to be balancing the mercy of HIS will, that none should perish of the people; Matthew 18:14, 2Peter 3:1-18, & mercy for HIS children, Hebrews 11:6-40,

    Hi Maxine.

Isaiah 7:14. Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Also Matthew 1:20-23. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

    I hope this helps.

    God bless.

  • T. Levis - In Reply - 2 years ago
I haven't found any scripture saying that either were teens, in my study for the answer of your question. I believe that idea comes from the idea a girl, woman or man, not being a virgin at older age. Please look at today's young people there are many keeping themselves pure & Virgins going into 30's.

Actually it may have been more biblical to say 40, Genesis 25:20, Genesis 26:34, Jacob even older. It would also prove they were a purer couple if they were older, otherwise what other proof would there be of their purity, self contol, chastity? If they were only teens? Also the trust of the Church isn't given to a novice: 1Timothy 3:1-7,

Scripture to look to: Luke 1, Luke 2,

Joseph's lineage length differs also giving us a key he seems to be older, Matthew 1, Luke 3:23-34, continues Luke 3:34-38, Matthew 1:17,

If someone has other scripture to verify otherwise. Please include I've tried finding a statement of Mary being young, youth etc.

    Hopefully helpful

    Hi Adam

    You asked,

Why can't both verses be true?

I do believe both verses are true.

I appreciate very much your input.

    I am struggling to understand,

Are you saying we are saved by both works and grace?

I did say I do believe we are saved by both.

But as far as Bible contradictions, they do exist.

And to say Paul and James contradict would not be an issue.

The Bible contradicts itself quite often.

    It is not uncommon.

Nevertheless, it does not shake my faith in the Bible.

    For example,

Matthew records Christ came through David's son Solomon ( Matthew 1:6)

But Luke records Christ came through David's son Nathan ( Luke 3:31)

Exodus 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

Exodus 33:11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.

And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah. ( 2 Samuel 24:1)

And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel. ( 1 Chronicles 21:1)

Who provoked David, God or Satan?

Is Judah or Dan are a lion's whelp?

And of Dan he said, Dan is a lion's whelp: he shall leap from Bashan. ( Deuteronomy 33:22)

Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? ( Genesis 49:9)

And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. ( Exodus 32:14)

And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent. ( 1 Samuel 15:9)
