Sometime we as Christians get caught up on the small details of the bible which satin loves, the focus here should be the son of god who had been preordained to come into this world to be a narrow gate to salvation for those that believe he is the son of god had come to pass just as the before this time profits had prophesied

The Bible doesn't say the number of wise men. This is accurate. But, it was the shepherds who first saw the baby Jesus. By the time the wise men saw the child, He was not an infant but a small child.

JESUS is the Star of David me. HE is what guides by HIS Word, HE is the star Light of my life. That Star as becomes a HEro represents JESUS. The Eastern Star as HE ascended in the Eastern sky HE is returning back in that same Eastern sky will outshine that star because HE is the True Star of us True Sheeps Life. Bless Love all through the creator of the stars universe. HE's coming soon.

We assume that there were three wise men because of the three gifts that were given: gold, incense, and myrrh Matthew 2:11 . However, the Bible does not say there were only three wise men. There could have been many more. Tradition says that there were three and that their names were Gaspar Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar Balthazar.

Andrew - the spiritual lesson here is that God provided a guide - no doubt about that! Be it a star or something else in the sky over 2000 years ago is not the fundamental point. Yes, I believe God can do anything - and my belief is not governed by physical world universe limitations otherwise I would not believe that Jesus performed his many healings. May God be with you.

Don't forget, the Lord can do all things...what would prevent the Maker of the stars from moving one to guide the wise men to His Son's birth, worship and celebration. "With God, all things are possible."

All that was prophesied by God will come to pass. And HE is still fulfilling HIS word till all HIS promises are fulfilled in us.

God said it and i believe it but even if i don't want to or i can't understand it, god said it so that settles it. - 2 timothy3:16-17 his truth will set us free now and eternally.

Did God say it? Or rather the wise men did? Everybody knows that if a star is close enough to be followed, everyone around would be burnt completely. I'm Christian, but I doesn't mean I lost my intelligence. When you read Jesus teachings and its wisdom, that's God's word. However the Gospel has some stories anecdotes. For instance, the story of Herod killing John, is God's word? Or just an story?

Andrew, if God says in Matthew chapter 2, that the wise men were guided by the star, I believe God's word. I would be very careful in how you don't believe God's word. Very dangerous.

Notice how you said, " I don't think". This isn't about what WE think my brother. This is about what God's word says. God's word is above YOU. YOU are NOT above IT. It is above me, and it is above all of us. It was a star that guided them because God said it was a star. Mercy, peace and love be multiplied to you in the name of our Lord Christ Jesus. Shalom.
  • Andrew on Matthew 2 - 5 years ago
I don't think the wise men were guided by a star. Maybe an alien craft? Stars are not moving around to guide travelers and just stop above where Jesus was. Something else was guiding the wise men towards Jesus.

Verse 12 Many believe that God sent the start but in this verse we see that Jehovah God is not directing the men to Herod as the star originally had done.

umm...go back and look at Gen.3:15..these are the words of the Father of Jesus also Adam and Eve to the Serpent. The Father would bring about enmity rivalry between Satan who was behind the serpent , and Jesus...Then the Father goes further to state that although Satan would be allowed to bruise Jesus in the heel a death from which he has been resurrected Jesus causes the end of Satan.

Wise men come from the east to worship Christ, Matthew 2:1, Matthew 2:2. Herod, hearing of the birth of our Lord, is greatly troubled, Matthew 2:3; and makes inquiry of the chief priests and scribes, where the Christ should be born, Matthew 2:4. They inform him of the prophecy relative to Bethlehem, Matthew 2:5, Matthew 2:6. The wise men, going to Bethlehem, are desired by Herod to bring him word
