And you and I or anyone else will reach perfection except Jesus. Jesus was and is the only one that did not sin in anyway.
  • Stanjett - In Reply on Matthew 3:2 - 4 years ago
Repenting from your sins and accepting Jesus as your savour is the first step step. Living for Him from now on is your duty to Him. It don't mean we will not mess up now and then. When you do, confess that sin and try, try again.

Baptism doth now save us. I like to believe that in baptism our body is literally buried in death with Jesus Christ. Likewise, when we rise out of the water that we are raised a new creature ,raised in the life of Christ. putting on Christ. The sacrament also being the literal body and blood of Jesus. That we remember what he has done, and pray his body and blood will sanctify and cleanse us from all unrighteous. Doing this as often as we need to. Especially, in times of temptation and when men will fall away from the faith.
  • Bendito Palavra - In Reply on Matthew 3:2 - 4 years ago
Repentance is essentially about changing our way of thinking and agreeing with God in regard to our sin and our need of Jesus Christ. It is the LORD's work to perfect us as we persist in walking daily with him:

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. ( Jude 24-25)

Salvation is a free gift from God through Jesus Christ whose perfect righteousness is credited to us when we trust him as our Savior. Salvation was purchased by Jesus' blood shed on the cross, and made certain by his resurrection from the dead.

Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. ( Romans 5:18)

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. ( Romans 10:8-13)

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. ( Ephesians 2:8-9)

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, ( 2 Timothy 1:9)

To understand Acts 10:38, we need to look at the event it refers to, i.e. Matthew 3:13-17.

Three Questions: Why was Jesus baptized? Why did the Holy Spirit come upon Him? Why did God speak from Heaven?

    1. Jesus didn't need water baptism ( Mt 3:15) as that baptism by John was for a demonstration of one's acknowledgement & repentance for sins (not like Believers' Baptism today which is identification with the death & resurrection of Christ). John himself said that it was he that needed Jesus's baptism, which was not a water baptism but a spiritual one ( Mt 3:11).

    2. Jesus didn't need the Holy Spirit to come upon Him or in Him - he was sinless, filled with the Divine in the womb, birthed from God's Seed without human contribution & using Mary as the vehicle to bring His Son into the world with flesh & blood. Jesus was later tempted by Satan to sin & to receive a sin nature but He withstood him with the Word of God, His Own Authority.

    3. God could have remained silent during this time, but He chose to speak from Heaven.

What do these events tell us? It was the inauguration of Jesus' Ministry on Earth taking Him all the way to the Cross. His baptism identified Him in His priestly role ( Exodus 29:4, Leviticus 8:6) through priestly washing & also pointed in a faint manner, His prophesied death & resurrection, to which all who put their trust in Him would replicate by identification.

Then two more confirmations from Heaven for the benefit of those around to Jesus' Life & Work: the Spirit descended upon Him confirming His priestly position through an anointing ( Exodus 29:7, Leviticus 8:12) & God's verbal confirmation of Who Jesus is & acceptance of His position & work, as was in the days of Moses & Aaron ( Exodus 29:42-46).

Jesus came to fulfil a high priestly role that no earthly high priest could fulfil ( Hebrews 7:11-28) & all that took place at the Jordan, pointed to Jesus as sent from Heaven to make full payment for sin - no priest could ever do that.

So here we a 1 recorded witness of God and there are others they all say the same , This is His Son .

Where does God say by witness anything other than this is His Son ?

Attempt all you want you will never find it unless you can not hear the truth , I do understand some will never truth because they don't have ears to hear . Like the Pharisees they are still among us .

Matthew 3 is a conscious altering dialogue, which speaks to the total of the Gospel.

The Chapter begins with the appearance of John, in the wilderness and introduces Jesus, in need of Baptism. The doctrine of John preached was that of repentance. It could be said that repentance calls for a reversal and correction of social and spiritual behaviors. Though preaching John was able to reach the hearer of the Word, in the wilderness of Judea. John concludes, "Repent ye, the Kingdom of God is at hand. John states to Jesus, " I have need to be baptized unto thee and comest thou to me?." Jesus responded, " suffer it be so now for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness.

My best study times are done with the Holy Spirit. He always has time for us. I read out loud and ask questions. When He reveals the answer, it's like I hear His voice in my chest or next to my right ear.

I have to turn off the media. I hear him better sitting in the floor. Sometimes He sings a song that I know and it gives me tears of joy, really. I try to sing back and sound not so much like a frog. I'm glad there will be big choirs so I can croak with power. :)

If we work on our relationship with Him, he will help us with our other relationships. I went through a couple of years forgiving others, forgiving myself often. He had to help me untangle the webs we weave in self deception.

If we will read His Word slowly and read all the center of each page reference columns (that match the tiny alphabet letters); you will be amazed at how so it opens up the total picture of what you are studying. I call it "seek and you will find", studying. I take a ton of notes; and date anything the Holy Spirit speaks.

Next week I'll be in the Prayer Request room, 'cause people get sad during holidays. Maybe this year we can forsake Halloween and celebrate the LORD of the Harvest?? Well I haven't done Halloween for 36 years. It doesn't compute in my heart.

Wonder how fast Chick Tracts can send a bunch of tracts on "what Halloween is?" (The little comic like Bible Tracts all the children love to get :). All my neighbors are ancient like me lol. I can ring their doorbell and give them a comic book tract. Sounds fun.

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

6This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

Does anyone know of any church that uses the 66 books of the Bible to teach from? Many claim to, but...

Also I prefer the KJV(1611) Bible as most other translations use different words or interpretations. I believe the Word of God should only be changed by God. I have faith the Holy Spirit will reveal, teach and/or guide.

I am also a Protestant. I have many Catholic friends and family that I pray for, but personally cannot align their beliefs with scripture.

I am not picking on anyone, or judging anyone, fot that is not my place. That is Jesus's domain. He claims to have many flocks and His offer is open to all who accept His grace, hear His voice, and follow His testimony.

My fear is not only are we loving in the Latter Days, but that we are living in the days when "they will search for the Word and shall not find it."

    Am I alone?

I do not believe the Old Testament was "Nailed to the Cross". As previously mentioned, I believe in the Bible. The OT is full of prophecies that have not occurred.

I am seeking edification and seem to be outside of most church denomination "circles" now-a-days.

I love the Lord and spend countless hours studying and researching His word. But with the amount of knowledge doubling every 4 years, it is very hard to discern truth from fable.

I pray that I have not offended anyone, and if so, humbly ask for your forgiveness.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Blessings and Prayers.

Mishael, the Spirit grace us with his words, the beast and the false prophet are cast into the lake of fire ( Heb 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire) before Satan. Revelation 19 is describing those that are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb, one cannot be the bride of Christ without partaking of the marriage supper of the Lamb. Being invited to the Lamb's supper means one partakes of the lake of fire (for our God is a consuming fire). Luke 12:49 I (Spirit of God, in flesh) am come to send fire upon the earth (mankind); and what will I (the Spirit of God be) if it (fire) be already kindled? (vs) 50 But I (Spirit of God,in flesh) have a baptism (of fire) to be baptized with, and how am I (Spirit of God) straitened till it (baptism of fire) be accomplished! Matthew 3:11 ....he (Spirit of God) shall baptize you (children of Satan, everyone is a child of this world before they are born of the seed of the Spirit) with the Holy Ghost and with fire (our God is a consuming fire). Since the Spirit is eternal the fire is eternal. Revelation 21:8 But the fearful (were you once fearful), and unbelieving (were you once unbelieving), and murders (did you once hate you brothers) ....all liars (did you once lie). The Spirit graces us with the lake of fire Malachi 3:1 ....and the Lord whom ye seek, shall suddenly appear (at your rebirth) in his temple (you, the Spirits throne, heaven), (vs) 2 But who may abide the day of his coming? for he (the Spirit of truth) is like a refiners fire and fullers soap. Isaiah 4:4 When the Lord (Spirit) shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion.....by the spirit of judgement, and by the spirit of burning. (vs) 5 And the Lord (Spirit) will create (new birth) upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud (like the cloud over the tabernacle in Moses day) by day , and the shining of a flaming fire by night...(and when the cloud moved the people moved and when cloud stood still the people stood still)

Matthew 3:1-3 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea. (vs) 2 And saying, repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (vs) 3 For this is he (Elijah) that was spoken of by the prophet E-sai-as (Isaiah), Isaiah 40:3 saying, the voice of one (John) crying in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the Lord (Jesus), make his (Jesus') paths straight. May the Spirit grace you with his understanding.
  • Prophesies DO NOT Lie - In Reply on Matthew 26 - 4 years ago
I believe Jesus because of what he said in Matthew 3:15-17. "That all righteousness must be fulfilled."

Even John the Baptist was born to fulfill prophesy. A voice crying in the wilderness.

It was even a prophesy as to where the donkey and colt was that He would ride into Jerusalem on.

I have this great chart of all the prophesies that would be fulfilled in Jesus ministry, right up to the Cross.

The one thing that made Him stay awake all evening when He was going to be betrayed and arrested, was when he would be separated from His Father while on the Cross: taking upon himself the sins of all the world, for all time.

All you can say, truly He is the Son of God.

All things were provided, so I know a basket of bread and some bottles of wine were a small detail. Let's search for Bread. Maybe it's on that list, I hope. Or in Isaiah? Joseph of Aramatheia (who provided the tomb) ?

The odds of all the prophesies being fulfilled have to be more than all the stars in our galaxy. How really can anyone doubt He is who he said He is.

I know it's natural to want to prove everything; but I believe what Jesus said: unless we become as this little child...in our faith; we cannot please God.

When we are caught up in the clouds to Jesus, the election will return the Jews again. Romans 11: 25-27

Scales will fall from eyes; ears will open!

The Dispersed Jews are returning by plane loads, every day. The Land is blooming, producing. Someone said there are wheat fields in Israel; water, oil. The Jews love for their land abounds. But they must turn their LOVE on the Lord, Messiah; who loves them again.

Don't doubt. Keep your full expectation on God to fulfill every thing that has been written and recorded. Ignore the NAYSAYERS. Jesus is impressed with our faith in Him. Preach that. Like John the Baptist.

Regarding your views on Water Baptism it cannot save a person. Please read Hebrews 6:1,2. It was one of the rites of of the Jewish Religion ( Numbers 19:7, Hebrews 9:10). Like circumcision, it was strictly an act of faith, and as Peter explains it is an a pledge of good conscience towards God.

For a better understanding and the 'spiritual truth' of what it means to repent, and learn how and by whom mankind has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9) and what people must do to be reunited with the true and living God, we invite you to seek Him according to the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive ( Matthew 7:7; John 14:17).

Repentance is the key principle of all the teachings of Jesus Christ and the axiom (basis) of the Word of God and a prerequisite and primary requirement for the salvation of mankind. It actually means the changing of spirits - to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).

You need not that any man teach you ( Isaiah 54:13; 6:45; 1 John 2:27), as mankind follows after an image of a false god and a false Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Rev. 12:9).

It is only by revelation of God that people will come to know the true Christ ( Daniel 12:4,9; Amos 3:7; Matthew 16:17; Luke 2:26; Romans 16:25; 1 Cor. 2:10; Gal. 1:16; Eph. 3:3,5; Rev. 1:1), and only then will you be able to overcome the spirit of this world ( 1 John 5:4; Rev. 3:21) and learn what 'True Repentance' means, and how this whole world has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9). It should also be remembered that it is a narrow way that leadeth unto 'Life', and few there be that find it ( Matthew 7:14; Luke 13:23).

LUKE 15:10. LIKEWISE, I SAY UNTO YOU, THERE IS JOY IN THE PRESENCE OF THE ANGELS OF GOD OVER ONE SINNER THAT REPENTETH.

Seek, and ye shall find ( Matthew 7:7).

    In His Service.

The priest wd have to take 2 turtle doves and wash them by running water but 1 wd have to be a sacrificial dove and be killed and his blood sprinkled on the living bird which is the Church,Christ was our sacrificial dove thats y the dove descended on Jesus.Turtle doves are lovers just like Christ and the CHURCH are lovers.Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it ( the sacrificial dove ) . In Song of Solomon the 2 lovers are Christ and the Church but they refer to each other as having Doves EYES,Christ and his disciples answer to the 2 turtle doves that had to be washed by running water th Jordan was running water,John th bap. answers to the Hi Priest that was of the tribe of Levi, he did the baptism th washing. Song of solomon says while the king sits at his table my spicknard sends for as sweet smell, We are all in the house of Simon the leper we all are unclean but jESUS answers to the sacrificial dove that wd have to be killed and his blood sprinkled on the living bird th Church. Thats y JESUS was water baptised he answers to the sacrificial dove, thats y that dove descended on JESUS, AS TH SACRIFICIAL DOVE HE HAD TO BE WASHED BY RUNNING WATER, THE JORDAN WAS RUNNING WATER.All the disciples answer to the CHURCH THE LIVING BIRD THAT WAS SET FREE,Whom the son sets free is free indeed. But Jesus knew that they had all been water baptised But he tells them if i WASH thee not you will have no part with me which speaks volumes of a greater baptism coming with his blood the CROSS,you are made clean by the WORD i have spoken unto you. He tells his own disciples that had been water baptised, If I wash thee not you will have NO part with me. Which is H.G. BAPTISM, Even in the time of Moses without the shedding of blood there can be no remission Sin. Th Cross

    Matthew 3:13-17

This was prophesy being fulfilled From the Old Testament.

Jesus was saying: let all righteousness be fulfilled.

13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

In the New Testament, they didn't always have water around to baptize new believers.

Some were water baptized, and others were not.

For some people it's a church and family celebration when someone is saved and wants to be baptized with their family around.

I came out of the occult and was born again. I had so much persecution by demonic spirits that tried to discourage me in mean ways. I went into a church and requested to be baptized to show Jesus I was serious about following Him only; and to show the demons that I had made my choice!!

If you don't furnish your spiritual house with the Bible every day... the demons come back to see if you're vulnerable.

Some of us need kindness and assurance that we are accepted into the family of faith.

A little Baptist woman held my hand and told me about 50 times, I was forgiven.

    Don't judge.
