Jesus was being tempted of the devil here : Jesus was hungry : the tempter knew that : So with me us : The devil sees in me what I lack and tempts me to turn things around to his way of thinking and act on something that may be very harmful to me : Jesus was in the wilderness to be tempted of the devil : the Spirit of God led Him there , every temptation that Jesus faced was for my our sakes , as Jesus overcome so we can and do overcome : A temptation is a thing that you have a strong desire for : a fleshly desire. Is my hunger greater than to do what God says !!!!

Matt. 4 is telling us that god calls us; we don't decide one day we are going to follow him; there are many MANY people out there who have decided to follow him, but - Jesus didn't call them. These are the ones who are truly called are to - watch out for, 1 Jn. 4:1; 2 Jn. 1:7

When the diciples followed Christ, their fisher nets were always full. Without Christ leading our lives we cannot operate in the fullness thereof. We are reminded in this passage that we can do all things through Christ Jesus therefore, all we need do is cast the net, and he will fill it!

I think most people could derive all sorts of life lessons, a parables based on this verse. But for me, it's simply when Jesus called out to Simon Peter and Andrew his brother and said, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." I think much of the worlds problems today is that some people take verses and come up with a plethora of their own thoughts or opinions about that verse and in some cases derive their own doctrine from it.

Matthew4shows us that the Lord resisted Satan's temptations and Satan left him. The Lord preached repentance for the forgiveness of sins.People believed in his healing power and brought the sick and lame to him.True believers that have the armor of righteousness will be able to fight the good fight; God grants repentance according to his will;He said many times"your faith has healed you"

As I go on to know the Lord in my walk with Him , He is teaching me to reel in those that are lost : Sorry to say but I am lax in this : I do not specifically go and try to find someone to tell them of Jesus. I do though talk of my Lord Jesus to those that I come in contact with in my every day walk of life. As I go , I will learn to submit to my Lord God more and be a better witness for Him !!!!

I think it's a powerful text from God inviting men to follow his ways with all your might and heart, thereby causing his Glory to shine through you so that all men would want to know your God! his Glory will shine through causing men to want to know your God.

So true this is a good way to show people how God wants us to server him. Being a fisherman of souls shows you the importants of people. It is important for a fisherman to fish so he may eat. It is also important for us to seek out souls so the may live. God is good.

  • Gamaliel on Matthew 4 - 8 years ago
It is obvious from the message Jesus preached is that God did not send Him to start a religion, but to give us a Kingdom to access now. Saying the Kingdom of heaven is at hand He was telling them that whatever they wanted in heaven is here now. Seeking the Kingdom was the next thing necessary to do, but because we live in a democratic government little is known and therefore misunderstood.

Satan was tempting Jesus to jump off the highest point of the temple.Satan tried the suicide tatic with Jesus ,but as we can see Jesus gave him the word of God.I don't know who this is for,but Im here to tell you Jesus has showed us a way of escape through every obstacles that comes our way.Suicide as we can see here is not of God,but of the devil.Don't allow anything that's temproal destroy what plans God has for you.In Proverbs 3:5 it tells us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not to our on understanding.See if Satan can get us focus on the problem instead of us going to the problem solver which is Jesus and then he has you.Satan tried it with Jesus but as we can see it didn't work.Jesus was tempted in every way but yet He was without sin.To whom this is for please Im begging you please give God a chance because He has something just for you.Be Blessed!!

On one of the trivia questions the question is how many days was Jesus tempted in the desert?
I answered 40. The correct answer was Jesus was tempted 3 times, but that was not the question. Jesus was there 40 days fasting and then satin came and tempted Jesus 3 times.
  • Kanakasusheela on Matthew 4 - 9 years ago
In this chapter Jesus tells us about the importance of God's word.If we read and follow the God's word and understand it deeply ,Then satan can not tempt us easily ,and all the satan efforts of tempting a godly man or a spiritual man are in vain. Because God's power is with that spiritual man. and if we are fasting and praying we re very close to God , and we are blessed with more spiritual power ,and scientifically fasting is good for health.

they left whatever they where doing and followed him, sometime we went to set time for God when he called us to do his work, God have mercy on us
  • Rev. James on Matthew 4 - 9 years ago
The temptation of Jesus shows three major areas of life which the devil will tempt us in: 1 Eating too much. If we are eating all the time then we cannot hear from heaven because it dulls our spiritual senses. 2 Satan is always luring us to kill ourselves to commit suicide particularly, around the holidays when we are lonely. Satan tempts us to commit suicide, but pray for strenght and power over the loneliness because the Lord loves you. Satan tempts us to worship him and the kingdoms of this world because he is jealous over God. Read Isaiah 14: 12-15. Also, Read Ezekiel 28: 14:17. It is Satan's desire to be like God and to be worshipped as God. Remain true to the one God our Savior Jesus Christ whom the Father sent to save you, delivered you and sustain you. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Love.

  • Stephende on Matthew 4 - 9 years ago
All of the prophets that God has sent will argue that first we must turn from living as if by our own power we exist in this world and our knowledge is gotten from our ego-heart. This is not so, for believers look to God for knowledge and guidance. And where is the word of God found but in his Scriptures. And what do the prophets beckon us to but to turn to God as our Lord and away from trusting in ourselves when it comes to the truth. This is repentance, to turn to God for guidance and understand his word in the Bible. Otherwise Satan will appear trying to talk you out of it.
