  • Kelvin on Matthew 4 - 11 years ago
We should take Jesus as our example of OBEDIENCE to God , he did not follow what devil was telling him because he held word in his heart( psalm 119: 11)
  • Franco on Isaiah 44:20 - 11 years ago
He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand? ( Isaiah 44:20 KJV) the. Same wood used for fuel or to cook with is turned into an idol. What an abomination , instead of feeding on the bread of heaven we feed on near ashes, worshiping creation; the work of our hands rather than the Creator: "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened". Romans 1:21. Let's turn our eyes on Jesus and follow His example when He was tempted: And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Matthew 4:9, 10

was the Holy City consider to be that satan was offering Christ the (CHURCH)?
  • BRITTANY HANCOCK on Matthew 4 - 11 years ago
I agree with all the comments.. We do have to be careful because satan is everywhere. He will try to run in your life at your weakest moments but we must pray an be strong. We cant give him an inch of power to control us because we are all God's children. He thought he was going to get Jesus but Jesus showed him that he is the son of the truth, light, and holy spirit. We should all be like Jesus tell that devil depart from thence I am an child of God no weapon shall form against me.

Satan is a liar. we christian should not fear him as we are children of God. we are not allowed to be tempted. Jesus is our way.
  • Alijent banda on Matthew 4 - 11 years ago
I have learnt from this chapter.
Satan know everything. The goodness of worshiping God.
Satan know that in the word of God,there is life. This is why he tried to convince Jesus to step down from this belief in verse4.

Satan knows that in worshiping there is a grate reward. This is why we see him commanding Jesus to worship him in exchange of the world in verse9.

In verse6,Satan manifest him self that He knows how caring God is to us. He knows that He will not allow us to slip down,He will not watch us being tortured and any harm to us. As it is written that He will "command" the angels to come for our aid.

Do not be mislead by him,as he comes like the promised prophet and give a biblical prophecy. He knows that in Lord Jesus we have everything.

Let us focus on Jesus a lone.

Christ was tempted as the Son of God...it would not have helped us at all if He came as God
  • Dora on Matthew 4 - 11 years ago
In this life we really need to be careful as to who is quoting the word of God into our lives and under what circumstances . Matt: 4:6, satan took a bold step in what he taught was Jesus' weakest hour to quote the word. But what he did not realized is that Jesus is THE WORD. Acct.to John1: Then also His strength is made perfect in my weakness.

  • Hanireck on Matthew 4 - 11 years ago
When we start the journey of following Jesus we have to know that we have entered into the battle field with the devil and temptations are part and parcel of this journey so if you haven't yet facing trials know that you haven't started your journey.
  • Lords body on Matthew 4:4 - 11 years ago
He said: "It is written:" A reader should look to the Old Testament to discover what words came out of the mouth of God. God as the speaker is what is referred to.
  • Igene Orhen on Matthew 4 - 11 years ago
...nobody is exempted for temptations it is how firm you are to where you stand or what do you believe. Since I am redeemed by the blood of the lamb holy spirit's voice pat my mind to hear its voice and yield not.
  • Angelus on Matthew 4 - 11 years ago
God has give all of men the freedom to do as they will(free will) the whole bible of what I remember that has been taught to me preaches this freedom to do what you will (freedom of will) In the beginning Adam was given the a choice, Ahbraham given a choice, Moses was given a choice. God asked everyone, God never ordered them to do anything, they chose to follow; just as the the 12 aposels were asked. You and I are given a choice of FREE WILL, and this is the choice we have to give to everyone else when we are teaching others the Words of our Lord. My God be with you in Jesus name. Amen

    @Peace,
There are many scriptures that speak of the Grace of God, but a couple of my favourites ones are:
    - John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.
    - Isaiah 53:4-5; 4 “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.” 5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
    - Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
  • Abraham on Matthew 4:5 - 11 years ago
The temptation by evil is not a plan of God but a plan of Evil. So it could be an attempt to physically eliminate or weaken Jesus, especially when Jesus was physically weak after 40 days of fasting, so that the plan of God Almighty about Jesus is nip in the bud itself. Knowing the plan of evil, Jesus willingly (bodily) climbed to the pinnacle of temple when asked by evil so as to win over evil.

I believe we are sinners. And we need to get out there to other people and let them know what Christ has done for us. And thank God every day for sending his ONLY SON to be murder by the hands of us So God turned his back on his ONLY SON so we could have EVERY LASTING LIFE. Through Christ our Lord and SAVIOR.

I BELIEVE THAT WHEN ARE LIVING IN DARKNESS AND WE DECIDE TO FOLLOW JESUS IT PUT US IN A BETTER PLACE THE WORD SAYS THE EARTH IS THE LORDS AND THE FULLNESS THERE OF AND ALL THAT DWELLS THERE IN LET US KEEP IN THE WORD SO WE MAY OVER COME TEMPTATIONS

Jesus is the son of God. He is the answer to the world today, and he is the only solution. I love Jesus.
  • Jessica on Matthew 4 - 11 years ago
It’s up to you who you'll choose; but for me it is God who only has a place or a Kingdom in my heart God. Not Satan (devil).
  • Ernie Binay on Galatians 1:4 - 11 years ago
The world is the kingdom of Satan, the evil world. That’s the reason God sent Jesus Christ to deliver the sinners through His blood from this evil place to the Holy Kingdom of God which is heaven the. In Matthew 4:8, 9, Satan offers his Kingdom to Jesus Christ if Jesus will worship him. But, no way.
  • DAVID on Proverbs 1 - 11 years ago
What strikes or hits me is that, this word is real! Do what it say, and watch God do what he says! Verse 30, for example, they would none of my counsel, they despised all my reproofs. But do this and listen to God’s word, then watch your owns ways change. But you have to do this with your heart! Because this is what God looks at, and takes seriously. Verse 31, therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own wickedness! Verse 23, thus saith God, turn you at my reproof (counsel)! Behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you! Do this, and see God really lead you and guide you and tell you more than what the people go to church or worship building know. Because you are his people and he is your God through Jesus Christ! If your heart troubles you, God is greater than our heart and knows all things, but there is no man, stepping up then goes back, such an one is not fit for the kingdom of God ( Luke 9:62)! Or if any man draws back, God's soul have no more pleasure in him ( Hebrews 10:38). I know people think we should try to live the bible as best we can, but God said, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds or comes forth out of the mouth of God ( Deuteronomy 8:3, Mark 4:4, Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4). God is not playing with us when he came through Jesus Christ! God is with us for truth and righteousness, and to heal and raise us from the dead. Because his enemies are real, God through Jesus Christ also is real! But there are more of the enemy then of the truth or spirit of God! Because the enemy deceives us with the fancy, glittery things, and the things that are pleasing to the eyes, to trick us, and this he does well, but for destruction and hell! God sent his son servant here to deliver us from the fallen spirits, and to raise us up with truth and healing and strength. But many despise God’s wisdom, and rather believe the or a lie ( Romans 1:23), but while we stop and believe the lie, God keeps moving and leaves us behind, and says; unless you repent, you shall likewise perish ( Luke 13:3). My name is David Brown I'm living true witness, because Jesus Christ made me so, and to expose the lie and lay the truth, even if no-one wants to hear it!
  • Nich on Matthew 4 - 11 years ago
We must live in this world but be exempt of this world, Jesus is the way, trust and believe that Jesus is able, the devil is a liar, indeed, i struggle daily with his lies. I'm a strong believer of The Creator of Heaven and Earth, thanks be to Jesus that died for me.
  • Jay on Matthew 4:8 - 12 years ago
    @Kelley,
Who really rules this world? If you have read anything about Satan; please know that he's a liar and a deceiver. So it’s to you to choose.
  • Jay on Matthew 4 - 12 years ago
As we observe the tempting of Jesus Christ (the anointed one of god) in the wilderness we are witnessing the same temptations that the serpent presented to Eve in the Garden of Eden. 1. lust of the flesh 2. the pride of life 3. lust of the eyes.
  • Jay on Matthew 8 - 12 years ago
The gift of healing was given as a sign to the Jews directly ( I Corinthians 1:22), but that was not the main purpose for Jesus’ ministry and probably not to interested in having those have been healed by Jesus to go out and spread the word to the multitude. The main ministry at this time in history for Jesus is to preach to the Jews that kingdom of heaven is at hand ( Matthew 4:17).
