I'm like you Gerald, I wouldn't know a Greek salad if I ate it, but I do study or verify Greek words with the Strongs concordance. It's been very profitable. I have gotten help from other brothers and it didn't often give new revelation but gave deeper and enhanced meaning. for example In Matthew 4:1-11 one word translated makes all the world the difference but it didn't give me new revelation because there is other scriptures that painted the same picture but the Greek or Hebrew gave more light.

    Here's is the verse;

"And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread."

In the Greek the verse reads "SINCE" thou be the Son of God. The devil knew exactly who Jesus was.

In fact the demons knew who he was through out the Gospels.

This cause us to look at the word tempted a little closer in the Greek.

The Holyspirit is who drove Christ in the wilderness to be tempted/proven. "or to confirm Jesus is who the scriptures says he is".

You see an example of this in Luke 14:19. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

This test is not to see if he would fail or not it's to show that he won't.

It's getting late, Perhaps others can elaborate more.

    God bless.

Dear Christina, This is something all born-again believer goes up against. 2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) God has given us His Word to combat the arrows of the devil and his demons. Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. What is the whole armour of God. Ephesians 6:14-18

    14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

    15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

    18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Don't argue with him. Do what Jesus did when He was tempted in the wilderness. For example:

Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

See? Don't argue with him. Memorize scriptures that guide you against whatever things you are tempted to do, and quote them as Jesus did. James 4:7 Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

    God bless!

Hi karla. That's a good question & to add to the confusion, I'll throw in Numbers 10:29.

In Exodus 2:18, we read his name as Reuel & this means "friend of El (God)". This was very likely his given name.

In Exodus 3:1, Jethro (or, Yithro) is from the word, 'Yether', meaning 'his excellence'. So it seems that Jethro is the same person as Reuel, but Reuel was his given name & Jethro may have been a secondary name or honorific title that others might have called him by. As an example from the New Testament, we read of Simon who was also known as Peter ( Matthew 4:18); again known by two names (Simon, Luke 22:31; Peter, Matthew 8:14; Simon Peter, John 13:6).

Then in Numbers 10:29, some believe that Hobab is yet another name for Reuel/Jethro, adding to the confusion, and so several opinions have been given to interpret that 'anomaly'. However, I see it simply as: that Hobab was Reuel's (or Raguel's) son, as Raguel (Reuel) was Moses' father-in-law. This type of family tree descriptions can also be found in many other passages, including 1 Chronicles 5:14, Nehemiah 11:7.

Ezekiel 44, Ezekiel 44:2-3, possibly the prophecy for Luke 19:28-48, Luke 21, notice Luke 21:37, Matthew 21, Mark 11, Notice Mark 11:16, Mark 12 Jesus still in the Temple Mark 13, notice Mark 13:1,3, as noted Jesus went & left, the same direction. John 10:23,

    Ezekiel 44:16,17, Revelation 7 note Revelation 7:14,15,

Ezekiel 47:1-10, healing living water, John 7:38, John 4:11,13,14, Matthew 9:35, Fishers, Ezekiel 47:9,10, Jeremiah 16:16, Matthew 4:19, Mark 1:17,

If you look at Ezekiel 1:1,2,3, they were already going into captivity as Prophesied by Isaiah 39:1-7, 2Kings 24:15, Jeremiah 52:31, before Daniel, Ezra & Nehemiah before the return & rebuilding, Ezekiel 48 - end; might have been the divine blueprint for the temple that was rebuilt before Jesus was born

Fortunately God gave us this test to determine if spirits (including voices) are from God or not:

    1 John 4:1-3

Also God says do not fear the enemy/satan. He holds no power over us:

    Matthew 10:28

He can only tempt, but we can resist and he will flee. We always have a way out if we look for it.

    1 Corinthians 10:13

So, you do not need to worry or have any fear about these. If you rebuke the evil spirits in the name of Jesus they will go away.

    Matthew 4:10

    Mark 9:28-29 Prayer

I am praying for you now. God bless you in the name of Jesus. I would do absolutely everything to dedicate your life to following Jesus, including fasting, reading the word, prayer, praise. Get rid of any filth you can and replace it with God's purity. Don't hang on to any of it. End times are near. Also, watch out for false prophets. They may lurk anywhere, even in this forum. Rely on God's truth, not on man's itching ears who love to spread lies from satan.

    Hi Dr Lyle Lee.

I agree with you on the two Gospels being preached. Where some get confused is they think that means there's 2 means to salvation. But that's not so.

HERE'S A ARTICLE FROM J VERNON MCGEE ON THIS.

( This may take several posts)

    Part 1.

The gospel of the kingdom is the preaching of John the Baptist: "The kingdom of heaven is at hand" ( Matthew 3:2). We do not preach that gospel today. The Lord Jesus preached it when He first began (see Matthew 4:17), and He sent His disciples out, saying, "Goto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand" ( Matthew 10:6,7). These men went out and preached that, but the day came when that changed. After His death and resurrection He said, "Don't just go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, but go now to the world" (see Mark 16:15). And to the world was to be preached the gospel of Christ. Paul mentions in Romans 15:19, "I have fully preached the gospel of Christ." Read his epistles and you'll find that the gospel he preached was that of the death and resurrection of Christ. He wrote to the Corinthians and said, "I delivered unto you first of all the gospel. And the gospel I preach is the one that you believed in, the one that saved you." Well, what is it, Paul? It's "that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" ( 1 Corinthians 15:3). That's the gospel, it's nothing but the gospel, and nothing else is the gospel. Even if an angel from heaven appears to you and preaches any other gospel, Paul says let him be accursed! (See Galatians 1:8.) Because there's only one gospel that we are to preach today. We do not preach the gospel of the kingdom. I wish we could get that through today to a great many who are talking about the gospel of the kingdom.

    See part 2.

During Paul's lifetime, sometime after Jesus rose from the grave, Acts 1, Acts 9, because Paul was preaching with those who where close with Jesus. Galatians 1:18, Acts 10, Acts 11, Galatians 2:1,7,8,11,14, Matthew 4:18,

Hi Alex. In Matthew 4:8-10, we read, "Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve."

In this specific test that Satan placed before Jesus, we note that Jesus didn't oppose Satan on the point of "All these things will I give thee", but on the point of 'falling down & worshipping him (Satan)'. Even though God is the Creator & Sustainer of the World & will always have full authority over all His Creation, the advent of sin into mankind which also affects the rest of creation, Satan is now in the seat of control over the hearts & minds of men ( 2 Timothy 2:26; 1 John 5:19). He has captivated our hearts by the deceitfulness of sin, men given over wholly to him, and only by the presentation of the Life-giving Gospel can those same sinners have a spark of Holy Light enter in that can upset Satan's plans & strong grip.

So, presently the World is under Satan's control & deception, as he blinds hearts & minds to the Truth of the Gospel, but God still has the final say & of course the ultimate victory when Satan will one day be bound & destined to that eternal flame and the new heavens & earth arrive, without the stain of corruption ( Revelation 20:10-15; Revelation 21:1-3).

    Could Christ have sinned?

    I don't think so.

We're not sinners because we sinned.

    We sin because we're sinners.

The sin nature don't enter you once you sin.

Psalms 51:5. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Our sinful nature comes from the natural man. We inherited that nature NOT because we sinned! WE INHERITED THE NATURE TO SIN!

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:45-47.

Jesus was a life giving spirit from heaven.

Adam was made a living soul out of the dust of the ground.

If Adam would have never sinned he couldn't have given everlasting life.

Romans 5:14. Nevertheless DEATH REIGNED FROM ADAM TO MOSES, EVEN OVER THEM THAT HAD NOT SINNED AFTER THE SIMILITUDE OF ADAM'S TRANSGRESSION, who is the figure of him that was to come.

( WHO IS THE FIGURE OF HIM THAT WAS TO COME.) Jesus was to come into the world even before Adam sinned. Adam wasn't capable of living a sinless life.

When was Jesus the Lamb of God to take away the sins of the whole world? When he died on the cross?

    BEFORE THE CROSS!

1 Peter 1:19-20. But with the precious blood of Christ, as of A LAMB WITHOUT BLEMISH AND WITHOUT SPOT:

Who verily WAS FOREORDAINED BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD,....( BUT WAS MANIFEST IN THESE LAST TIMES FOR YOU,)

Matthew 4:1 THEN WAS JESUS LED UP OF THE SPIRIT into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

Do you notice Satan didn't hunt down Jesus? Jesus was led by the Spirit to Satan. This was to prove he was the son of God and ONLY the son of God cannot sin because he is God. Here Satan is just used as an instrument.

    1 John 3:9.

    God bless.

    Hi Joyce.

Yes we are tempted or better yet enticed by Satan. He dont have to work overtime to do that, In the flesh we desire what he has to offer.

    Satan mission is to deceive,

He put tares amongst us to hinder Christ work in us.

Concerning Christ the word tempted is used differently.

Matthew 4:1. Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be TEMPTED of the devil.

Look who's in arranging this. "Then was Jesus led up of THE SPIRIT into the wilderness.

The word tempted here is tested or better yet proven.

Jesus was led by the Spirit to be proven. Look at verse Matthew 4:3.

"And when the tempter came to him, he said, (IF) thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread."

Here's what I recently learned from one of our dear brothers from this site. The word iF in this verse should be read "SINCE" It actually reads ( SINCE thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread." ) The Devil knew exactly who he was!

Notice here what Satan is offering.

    Matthew 4:8-9 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

These kingdoms was already ordained for the Lord by way of the unblemished lamb on the cross. Something only the son of God can accomplish.

Psalms 2:8-9. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: AND THE GOVERNMENT SHALL BE UPON HIS SHOULDER: and his name shall be called Wonderful, COUNSELLOR, THE MIGHTY GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

    Isaiah 9:6

This is what the Spirit sent Jesus in the wilderness to prove.

    God bless.

Dear Canada, we aren't God's robots, He gave us the freedom to choose our own path. We can choose to fall into temptation or to resist as it says in James 4:7 "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, he didn't argue with the devil, he quoted scripture as in Matthew 4:10 "...for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." I advise you to search the internet for a verse in the Bible that tells us not to do whatever you are being tempted to do and quote it with the temptation arises. Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you. Start having daily devotions. Always confess your sins. If you are a born-again believer, He is always with you and willing to rescue you. Just ask. Mark 10:51 "And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?..."

    God bless and keep you!

Water baptism or not has nothing to do with sin or salvation. Baptism was a ritual first performed in the Old Testament to cleanse the temple priests before entering the temple. There were baths outside the temple for people to cleanse themselves before entering. John the Baptist performed baptisms for people to express their repentance for their sins before Jesus came. Jesus got baptized simply because of the Jewish rite, since He was Jewish.

We are now in Christ who baptizes us in His Spirit, and water baptism does nothing but get you wet, and show attendees you have repented of your sins, and Jesus is now your savior.

The unpardonable sin was when the temple leaders accused Jesus of doing miracles through the power of the devil, and not through His Father. As long as you don't accuse Jesus of performing His miracles through the devil, you are safe!

Some preach fasting as a command because Jesus said "when, thou fastest" Matthew 6:16-21,

Sometimes people & Church congregations fast for closeness with GOD, to feel HIS presence, & clarity on direction from GOD: Matthew 9:15, Mark 2:19,20, Luke 5:34,35, Ezra 8:21,23, Nehemiah 1:4, Nehemiah 1, (in context.), Daniel 9:2-3, 2Corinthians 6:4,5

Fasting & prayer to help deliver people from sin, addiction, mental illness, demonic oppression, Matthew 17:21, (context) Matthew 17:14-21, Mark 9:17-29,

    1Samuel 7:3

    1Corinthians 7:3-5,

    Fasting for deliverance: 2Chronicles 20:1-30, Esther 4:3,16, in context: Esther 3:8-15, - Esther 4, Daniel 6:12-23, Joel 1:14, Joel 2:12,

Fasting in repentance, sometimes even after GOD's judgement : 1Samuel 7:2-17, 2Samuel 12:7-23, (do you think it was easier to except it because he was fasting? While others were perplexed?) 1Kings 21, note 1Kings 21:27-29, Jonah 3:5-10, Joel 2:15,

    Also Isaiah 58,

Jesus fasted an extreme fast: Matthew 4:2,

When it says in: Matthew 10:8, Luke 10:9, Mark 16:17-18, can we do these things without fasting?

I believe there are too many scriptures about power in fasting, direction, deliverance & repentance to think lightly of.

Fasting is submission, Romans 13:7, Luke 20:25, Matthew 17:25-26,

    Hopefully these are helpful

If you examine the context of "blasphemy of the Holy Spirit" the term is used after Jesus, doing only the perfect willvof the Father, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is accused of casting out demons through the power of Satan. Example Mat. 12:24-32, Mark 3:22-29, Luke 11:15-12:10. In all cases, in the very presence of Christ Himself, doing PERFECTLY, the will of the Father, through the perfect power of the Holy Spirit, they call the entire Godhead Satan. If you are physically in the presence of Christ doing the perfect willvof the Father through the power of the Spirit, and attribute Gods works to Satan, there is no hope for you. That's the only context for this sin. Every other sin is forgettable till the day we die. But Christ is not here on earth right now... Which is why you never see blasphemy of the Holy Spirit mentioned after He ascended.

Dear Linda, I don't really get what the problem is. Is it that you are questioning baptism in water or totally submersion in water in baptism? If you are questioning the former, the answer is that if one isn't baptised in water, while he can do it, then he cannot be saved. If you are questioning total submersion in water, then yes this is the proper method of baptism. Why wouldn't you want to do this? Are you afraid, is there a health problem or something else that makes you not to want to do that? If there is a specific problem you can discuss about it with your pastor and come out with a solution. If you just don't want to do it without having an important reason, then it is considered disobedience to God's commandment and this is something very important, you should think carefully about it.

The lack of Baptism submersion, doesn't appear to be an unpardonable sin.

Let's address why wouldn't someone want to be Baptized? Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:2-7, Romans 6:3-13,

Is it fear that keeps one from baptism? 1John 4:18, trust? Psalms 56:11, that person may possibly be about to ask another gentle close friend in the Body of Christ to be the person submersing with people of close relation in there nearby or helping, while the Church leader prays or recites scripture. I've seen many believers like youth outreach baptize with Pastor helping. Depending on the fellowship. Matthew 28:18-20,

If the reason is medical, or because of very difficult situation. Luke 23:38-46,

Fear and Accusations are evil spirits assigned to you by satan; to slow down your walk with Jesus. In Ephesians 6, shows us that the spirits are invisible.

We know they're stalking us, by their FRUITS. Fear, hath torments (which are evil spirits). Knowledge of the Word of God sets us free. You must be born again as in John 3. If you are born again, you have LEGAL RIGHTS as a child of God.

I'm saying this for the benefit of others who have, or are going through it. Jesus cleans and clears out our physical and spiritual house. The Holy Spirit is inside of us. He teaches the Bible to us; as we read the Bible. We are GARNISHING our spiritual house. If we fail to read the Bible, the armor of God, is UNUSED. Ephesians 6.

    MATTHEW 12:43-45 and Matthew 13:3-12

We cannot be invaded again, IF we garnish our spiritual house with scripture.

    Matthew 4:

1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the DEVIL,

2 And when JESUS had fasted 40 days & 40nights, he was afterward hungry.

3 And when the TEMPTER came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

We must form a strong resolve to follow Jesus as a disciple. We are fighting off INVISIBLE enemies. Ephesians 6.

I've been praying over this some days. SATAN was an archangel. He was CREATED as like an angel; just bigger and more powerful; in charge of praise and worship of God. He coveted the praise all of the angels gave to God.

Coveting is a sin. He led a rebellion against God. Satan and 1/3 of the angels who followed Satans rebellion, were hurled into the earth.

Most or questions about sin, can be answered by the Ten Commandments, Book of Leviticus and Deuteronomy.

Do the do's, and refuse the dont's. Receive Jesus as Savior, Be baptized. Attend Church. Ask Holy Spirit to teach you.

    GARNISH your "house"

See Acts 19:19, you may need to rid your home of "idols".

His new mission was to hurt all of the people on earth__especially the ones that loved God, and followed Gods known Will for them. Later they were given the Ten Commandments written with the finger of God, to Moses.

Most or questions about sin, can be answered by the Ten Commandments., Book of Leviticus and Deuteronomy. It's easily understood how God expects His believers to follow Him, and not our sinful desires. Twisting truth to accommodate having what we want.

Do the do's, and refuse the dont's. Life gets easier.

    Receive Jesus as Your Savior.

Dear John, in peace, think of everything eval we humans can do. But when we talk about the evil one, we know that he exalted himself and wanted to be God. Ezekiel 28:12-16 Why the Lord has given us satan as an image: Will probably come from the fact that we shall not believe that we are anything other than what we are, gems refined and taught by the Holy Spirit. Who dares and questions the Lord? Then put on your humble garment, as you want the Lord to teach you. Immerse yourself in the scriptures to be Responsive. It is God who is perfect, remember that we are, like ants Isaiah 66:1. But many of David's hymns say how energetic and happy the singer is to belong to the Lord. Example: Psalms 29 There is a lot of good warrior power in the hymns. Psalms 28. Praise, prayer, and thanksgiving are a great start.

It is a joy to belong to the Lord, He has already found a way out for us. So that All who believe in His Name will be saved.

1 Corintihans 10:13 The Word of God is the only weapon we have against the evil one. Jesus himself had to use the word against him in Matthew 4:1-11 My Bible is not hiding in a drawer and is not hidden away.

For me, this was a turning point. For i understood quite quickly that here it was spirit powers that would prevent / bind me into shame / bondage. Where i am, the Word of God is with, you do not know right when you meet a person who ponders something about the Lord :) It is also openly located on the kitchen table or in the living room. The Bible is my favorite, Number One, it's where we get to know the Lord, Each and every one of us Jesus believers must find out what is best for ourselves.

1 John 2:20-27 And do all things to the glory of God with a clear conscience. But never be ashamed, you have the Living God with you and He has all power in Heaven and on Earth! All we have to do is believe in Jesus Christ.

Then everything else comes into place as we go. Learn by heart scriptures that strike back. Romans 1:16-17 Ephesians 6:10-20 GB

    Hi again Gigi.

They say that flesh carries man's sinful nature. Which is true. They use this verse to validate their belief that Hell is a symbol of the refining fire and man must die and brought through that fire to enter the kingdom.

    Here's the verse.

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 1 Corinthians 15:50.

But they leave these verses out.

1 Corinthians 15:51-54. Behold, I shew you a mystery;... WE SHALL NOT ALL SLEEP,...BUT WE SHALL ALL BE CHANGED,

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, AND WE SHALL BE CHANGED.

For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

We know this as the rapture.

But did you notice what's missing in those being raptured? No Death! and No fire! They shall forever be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:17.

Now let's go back and look at another hole in their theology concerning Kingdom.

They say the Kingdom of God started 2000 years ago. They use this verse to make their point.

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

But when preaching about Hell they use this verse. 1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood CANNOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Expect some more spiritualizing to cover up the errors.

    God bless.
