It sounds you're interpreting Matthew 6:13 as God being the one tempting you, but that isn't the case. It says 'lead us not', it doesn't say 'tempt us not'. God can lead or offer a direction for you, but its up to you using your freewill to choose it. This prayer by Jesus is asking God not to lead us down a path where Satan may tempt us. This is not a translation error as you suggest.

As with Peter, he walked on water, as long as he looked upon the Lord. But he took his eyes off the Lord and failed in himself. If we take our eyes off the Lord, we will also fail. Turn your eyes upon Jesus.

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.praying in houses of Worship no matter what it called is not allowed why refuse to Discuss it

Keep your mind on Jesus. Take no thought concerning food, drink and clothing. Concentrate on godly things and seek God's kingdom. He provides for the righteous. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Evil is rampant. Therefore, let us set our affection on things above, and God will surely add all good things to our life. God's works are wondrous and He never fails. Get joy in Jesus.

Irene, you are correct. Our eyes need to b opened to the scripture.

Numbers 15v38 teaches that the children of Israel ought to dress spiritually and not just physical, one must take the word of GOD Spiritually at all times. Spiritually speaking, Christians must always put fringe of the border a ribband of blue on their Christian life as well as on their physical life the precept and concept to this book is Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18 and 23-5. GOD Bless You.

Live today as a servant to God, don't worry about things that are petty, such as what will I eat, or what to wear tomorrow. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Worry for nothing, for worry will not add anything to your life, trust in God, walk in faith he knows our needs. What does it profit a man if he died tonight with a extra loaf of bread, nothing food for thought, God Bless

Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Chantel..the hail mary and act of contrition are "vain repetitions" after a while a person does not even think when saying them it's just by habit.. I'm not condemning but just saying..

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon 9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, but thou art rich and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

As a person no one to be somebody but to be a perfect image of our God. However, there are some circumstances which are beyond the control of anyone. In the reality of anyone's life, it needs decision whether to do or not. You must weight all the positive and negative impacts. If positives prevail, the negative will be do away, the former should stand. It refers to common good.

Verse 1 shows that we want to do good in imitation of Jehovah God and not to receive praise from men.

Maybe at that time Jesus wanted to help people but didn't want the miracles to drown out his message of salvation? Matthew 6:3-4. Perhaps humility too.

Mat. 6:33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you! What comprises of all these tings? Quick rick schemes: name it: claim it: Possibility thinking? Are these what our Lord is referring to? No! He is referring to SPIRITUAL THINGS:FIRST AND FOREMOST? Your heart has to be right with God? You have to live your neighbour as yourself?

The error of your wickedness is seen as ye contradict the very Scriptures ye speak against (that the Scripture might be fulfilled.) For the Holy Ghost, with the resurrected Son, being in the flesh this very day; rejoice in pleasing the Holy Father by praying for them given him. As it is written, I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
  • David on Matthew 6 - 5 years ago
Jesus never prayed this prayer, and it is not the Lords prayer as many refer it to be, he said when you pray not himself and forgive my debts or (sins) which he never committed any sin because he was the spotless lamb of God and God himself in flesh. He would never ask for forgiveness for sin.The Lords prayer can be found in John ch.17 read it and it should clear up a lot of confusion about this.
