It's obvious that all Christians are saved by belief in CHRIST JESUS. When we read Matthew 22 and 23, the MASTER CHRIST JESUS lets us see that right, because doing good works in the name of the LORD doesn't mean one believes in CHRIST JESUS.

    @Munalula,
Jesus Christ gave but 1 test ; He said : ‘’Ye shall know them by their fruits.’’ Matthew 7:15-29.
The word also says in 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 ‘’ Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.’’ So we have to scan everything in the light of the word of God.
And as we have soft and obedient hearts, the holy spirit shall always lead us in that task.
    God bless you.

I got from this passage is that Jesus Christ is the only way to God and he alone came save us and all he is asking that we walk in truth him and go to him for everything we need .

That day is prophetic for an appointed time in future. Like at an appointed time, an event sure to come, as Jesus said it will.

I believe charity is a bad interpretation and that love is correct but also misinterpreted as works why john 14:21 Jesus says He that has my commandments and keepeth them he it is that loveth me and he that loveth me shall be loved of my father and I will love him . the person who has love keeps his commandments.. John 15:9-10 As the Father has loved me so have I loved you continue ye in my love if you keep my commandments you shall abide in my love as I have kept my fathers commandments and abide in his love .....1 John3:23 And this is his commandment that we should believe on the name of his son Jesus Christ ....And love one another as he gave commandment all religions can have charity but they can not have love because they deny that Jesus is the SON OF GOD. As the Word of God HE gives you the Fathers Commandment then he gives you his commandment to love one another thinking that good works are what were talking about is wrong also Matthew 7:21 Not every one that says onto me Lord Lord shall enter into the Kingdom of heaven but he that doeth the will of my father which is in heaven John6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me that all that seeth the Son and believeth on him may have everlasting life and I will raise him up again at the last day...in that day many will say onto me Lord Lord have we not prophisized in thy name cast out demons in thy name and in thy name done many wonderfull works Romans 4:5-6 Now to him that worketh is the reward not recond of grace but of debt But to him that worketh not but believeth on him that justfieth the ungodly his faith is counted for rightsness Ephesians 2:8-9 for by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast then Jesus says to them depart from me ye workers of iniguity I never Knew you 1John2:3 hereby we do know that we know him if we keep his Commandments 1John3:23

I believe Matthew 7:7 clearly specifies the intensity of a Christian's prayer with regard to one's needs. As the words ask, seek and knock show a substantial increase in aggressive ascending order, so are we directed here to attach a specific kind of approach to every prayer request we make.
  • Yochanan on John 1 - 12 years ago
Bebopp. Surely your words are of none else but of someone who never believed in or even understood the faith contained in the bible. I never liked the church much myself either. But if you read the bible where is the churched ever mentioned as an institution of gods law? Where does it say that you should act like or listen to priests? The bible surely is of god but the church surely is not. Some churches might be lead by men and women of faith, some congregations surely have faithful men and women in them. But some or even many might not have a true faithful soul in them. Just cause you go to church doesn't make you free from sin. Anyone who sins knows this. But true faith leads away from sin. Read 1john2 1john2 and 1john3 and understand the message. Understand that truth and gods command only can be found in your own heart. You shouldn't listen to the world, but to your heart, your soul, the spirit god has given you. Your heart knows whats right, so feel it. And only people that are of strong will and righteous character can be people of real faith. Read the following verses. Matthew 24:5, Matthew 7:22-23. Luke 21:8 Mark 13:6. Who do you think they speak of? What does your heart tell you in this matter? So follow your heart in truth and righteousness.

Matthew 7:22,23 Many are the Christians in this world who are falling into this category. Thinking that the things they do in the name of Christ will get them into Heaven. The fact is that we must be broken completely and reborn in Christ to be counted in the rolls of everlasting life. Only when we understand that the "way" to God is through the "way" that Jesus was teaching us to live.

What does the word perfect mean in scripture? But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--he will be blessed in what he does.( James 1:25). Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." ( Matthew 19:21) Does the perfect here means something different than the perfect used in 1st Corinthians 13:10? What is the perfect law of liberty? What was Jesus referencing when he told the rich young ruler if thou would be perfect go sell all that you have and come follow me. Could perfect mean complete? I'm just saying! Sometimes we make things more difficult than they should be! My feeling or my opinion is fruitless when it comes to the word of God. Solomon said in Proverbs 16:25 "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." In Matthew 7:24 Jesus said these words "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock." The Hebrew writer said in Hebrews 5:8-9 Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,

Hear ( Mt 7:24), believe ( Jn 8:24) repent ( Lk 13:3,5) confess ( Acts 8:37) and be baptized for the remission of your sins, ( Acts 2:38, 8:12, acts 22:16)

the key word is gate. And the gate is Jesus Christ. The narrow road is doing the things of God and the wide road is doing the things of satan, and that road lead you to disstruction.I would rather stay on the narrow road and go with Jesus Christ.
  • Bdazzle on Matthew 7:13 - 12 years ago
Very enlightening scripture! I see it so many times at work and in life, where you have people trying to take the short cut to their career. They avoid the hard way.

They want things to come easy. They refuse to go to college so they get a job. Some get a job and skip very important steps in an effort to get done faster. They don't want to wait on their wives for sex, rather than, they have adulterous affairs. This way has been done so much that it seem like the only way to go. But, I challange everyone who read this to avoid the wide road to destruction.

It is wide indeed because so many people is on it. Not many are on the narrow road. That is why it is narrow. Just like the a smaller class compared to the larger class, you get more individual attention which leads to a better education.

KNOCK, AND IT SHALL BE OPENED UNTO YOU
One man said: “I don’t believe in God , I know that God exists.”
Few hours ago I was standing in my room with two unsolvable problems (in the last 48 hours I put only 1 l of milk in my mouth). In the total desperation I said loud: ”I seek for your kingdom and your justice, and please help me God if You want”. About an hour later they called from the hospital, one problem was solved totally, and the other may be not the problem at all, I only have to bare a pain for some time and it will pass. If it is a real problem I entered a routine for solving it.
So God please help somebody else like You did today to me, to easy me spreading Your word.
    THANK YOU GOD.
P.S. Greetings for Judy Hoover. You have such a pure heart and soul. I read your comments and maybe I do not agree with you in total but please go on just the way you are. GOD BLESS YOU.

On what are you basing your thoughts that Obama might be the false prophet? Has the Holy Spirit given you an unction that this might be the case or are these random thoughts? "By their fruits you shall know them...." Where is your knowledge coming from?
  • Christine on Matthew 7:15 - 13 years ago
Penny - you're not the only one thinking that, quite a few of my "tuned in" friends, (Christian, political and those that are both), are saying/thinking the same thing!
  • Susan Dalton on Matthew 7:1 - 13 years ago
Veterans Day, I was sitting at the mall in the food court. I noticed three or four young, uniformed men. They were standing in the middle of the food court. Some people would walk up to them and shake their hand; others would speak to them for a few minutes.

I noticed one young man walk over to a table and extend his hand to an elderly man and woman. The elderly man shook his head no and did not extend his hand. The woman shook her head no also. The young soldier walked away.

How could someone refuse an outstretched hand? What if you differ with someone else's view, can you still honor the other person? Can you esteem the person without rejection? Or will you be filled with animosity and contumacious against love? Will you disdain the outstretched hand?

As I sat and watched, I saw one young, uniformed soldier walk over to a table and take the cup of someone seated and take it to Chic-Fil-A and have it refilled. He walked it back to the table and gave it to the seated man.

As I thought on this, I remembered the elderly man shaking his head no to the outstetched hand. Was the soldier extending his hand to the elderly man asking him did he want his cup refilled? Or was the young soldier extending his hand to the elderly man in acquaintance? I cannot tell for sure.

Many times we can judge what we see with our eye without seeing perfectly clear.

Jesus said, "Judge not..." ( Matthew 7:1)

We all should be careful in our judgment.

Faith alone your Soul cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven. Eph. 2:8&9 , you cannot read the word Soul that through faith, this Soul can enter into heaven. Obeying the Ten Commandments or the Law of Moses also cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven. To enter into the kingdom of Heaven is to obey/follow the Commandments of Jesus Christ or His words equal Salvation of our Soul.

You are saved by grace..NOT by the law...it is impossible for us to fulfill the law becdause of our sinful nature. That's why Jesus said even to think evil we have committed that sin already. The law was only our schoolmaster to bring us to grace. No one can fulfill the law...only Christ did fulfill the law..see Ephesians 2:8 and 9.

I thought of This scripture my self to answer your questions will point to more scriptues your right it is the duty of a Christian to save people Jesus sits with sinners to set an example to us but the scripture also says Matthew 7:6
    New Living Translation (©2007)
"Don't waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don't throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you.
Not every sinner can be saved we live in a world that what we say can be used against us for controversy anger and discouragement in ones beliefs it is important to pray for those who are lost to be saved and to ask from the holy spirit to guide you to lead u in those that the lord has chosen does not mean you will not encounter forces against you but you filled with the spirit will overcome
  • Theodore A. Jones on Matthew 7:14 - 13 years ago
"It is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous." Rom. 2:13 The small narrow gate into God's kingdom is actually law that has been added to the law by Jesus' crucifixion. Salvation from the penalty of sin is predicated upon the faith to obey this added law. The gospel of God explains the Way to obey this law, but no contemporary church's gospel is the gospel of God. That is why only a few find the gate.

The time of his coming is so close I see this scripture beung fullfilled daily I see those that use to be on fire for God slip away and go thru motions they are crying Lord Lord and living the life of a sinner though their sins are'nt big sins it is still sin will keep them from the face of God.
  • Stephen on Matthew 7:21 - 13 years ago
Matthew 7:21.Many cry,Lord,Lord today.Satan as a angel of light cries Lord,Lord. His false minsters also cry Lord,Lord.Satan beceives millions of souls today by crying Lord,Lord, from some pulpit.Thats why Jesus said not every one that cries Lord,Lord. Now give me ten % of your wages.Satan and his minsters are very cunning, but Christ no those who are his.

Indeed God is true to all his scripture as it is writtren in 2Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. To GOD be all the glory and honor!
