Our SAVIOR, GOD the LORD JESUS CHRIST is faithful in all HIS promises. Whatever we need to accomplish HIS work, HE will provide.

    Ephesians 4:

    11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

    2 Timothy 3:

    .

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Although the work may be important, there is nothing more important than to spend a "rest time" with the LORD.

As CHRIST always had a time of rest, and prayer with HIS FATHER; let us do the same that we may be restored spiritually, physically as we await the coming of our KING of Glory, the LORD of HOST.

Ps 24:8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

    Numbers 6:

24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Happy New Year, brethren! Our redemption is near.

Merry Christmas everyone! Have a wonderful and prosperous time with family and friends.

    Numbers 6:

26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

    Luke 2:

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

    Isaiah 9:

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Let us praise and glory our KING and SAVIOR by telling others of HIS free gift of SALVATION before it is too late.

We can only know our sinfulness through scripture and prayer. GOD desires us to be spiritually clean and walking in HIS word and commandments. May we be obedient and faithful in our walk with CHRIST that the lost may see our testimony and a door be open for sharing and declaring the gospel.

May we be faithful at all seasons. Merry CHRISTMAS to all the saints. Let's be open to the urging of the HOLY SPIRIT in our worship, by declaring the gospel of the LORD JESUS CHRIST unto whom-so-ever GOD brings before us.

    Numbers 6:

24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

    Luke 2

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

    Ephesians 2:

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

    Romans 10

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I thank my Savior for showing great restraint, patience, and love for me, as I rejected HIS claims and title to my life as this chapter shows of the elders, officers, and people did. But of HIS love of HIS FATHER in heaven; and HIS desire for all to be saved - HE endured the ridicule, rejection, and humiliation and went obediently to complete the plan of SALVATION by dying on the cross, being buried, and raised on third day as written. I and any one who believes and trust in the gospel will be saved. Romans 10:9-12; Acts 4:12

Thank YOU LORD JESUS for YOUR gift to the world. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to every one on this forum.

You came to my mind while I was on my way home from errands an hour or so ago. And then the thought "Encourage" came into my mind.

I do pray daily for those on this site, but this prompting is not a common experience for me. So, I will encourage you and others on here with these words from Scripture.

The Aaronic Blessing in Numbers 6:24-26

"The Lord bless thee and keep thee; The Lord make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious to thee; The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace."

    AND

    Paul's Blessing in Ephesians 6:23-24

"Peace be to the brethren, and the love of faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity."

    AND to close,

    Paul's Blessing in 2 Corinthians 13:14

"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen"

This passage mirrors what our nation is going through. The USA was once famous for our vast fields and vineyards as Moab was. To prevent further ruin to our nation, we must return to the LORD GOD and to HIS worship in truth and in Spirit.

    John 4: 24

Let us all turn our hearts to the LORD and HIS precepts, HIS promises and glorify HIM.

Only the true GOD can and will bring to pass what HE promised as HE has spoken. The ruin of our nation is at hand and there is no escape except through submission unto the LORD JESUS CHRIST. 1 Timothy 2:1-3; 2 Chronicles 7:14, 15; 2 Peter 3:9; Romans 10: 9-12; 12:1,2

    Numbers Chapter 6

    The Benediction

In Numbers 6, God instituted a way for leaders to bless the people with a prayer of benediction.

We see this patterned by Paul, Peter, and Jude also gave benedictions at the end of there letters to the churches. I recommend to those reading this that we each read these benedictions from the writers of Scriptures as these are inspired by God, just as the Aaronic blessing came from God, too.

One of my favorite part of church service is receiving the benediction from the pastor. I hold out my hands palms up to receive it for myself. How good it is to be blessed of God through the pastor God has put over me. The benediction binds the body together in a common blessing until they meet together once again. These "parting words" are valuable and endearing to me.

As parents, we too can impart benedictions upon our children as they grow up and even when grown. I pray for my sons daily, but I especially look forward to the time when they will be receptive of me and my husband praying over them once again.

LORD GOD, I pray once again for my sons, Brian, Rob, and Kevin, and for my daughter in law, Elfe. I ask that You will bring each of them to faith in Your Son Jesus, who is the only Savior for them. I ask that you will remove the stony hearts in them and do the miracle of giving them a softened heart that will turn to You in faith. I ask that You will remove all Islamic influences from Elfe and Brian, all the barriers erected by Satan in their lives and in the lives of Rob and Kevin. Break down all of the idolatrous altars in their minds and souls and show them the wonders of your grace and mercies in Jesus Christ the Lord of all. Father, because You know how it feels for Your children to go astray into unbelief, rebellion, and idolatry, I know that You understand my heart. I also know that Your plans are to redeem each of them in time. I look forward to that day when they will turn to You and be made secure in faith by the Spirit.

    Numbers Chapter 6

The last section of this chapter contains the prayer that God told Aaron to use as a blessing upon God's people. He was to use this often to bless the Israelites. it is very wonderful that it was God's Words that Aaron and the high priests after him used to bestow God's blessing upon God's people. These were not words composed by Moses or Aaron or any other man. So, these words are fr us as well as for the Israelites of that time, as they have been recorded in His Word for us.

"The Lord bless you and keep you

The Lord make His face shine upon you

    and be gracious to you

The Lord life up His countenance upon you and give you peace."

Then the chapter concludes with these words

"And they (the priests) shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them."

How good it is to marked as God's own children. The ancient Israelites were so marked by the name of YHWH as we are marked with the name of Jesus. YHWH is the Savior of the Israelites and Jesus is the Savior of both Jews and Gentiles. YHWH/Jesus is the Savior of all who believe, no matter if one is a Jew or Gentile, it is the one same God who saves us all.

So we can know by this Aaronic blessing that God wants to bless us: to bring us good and not curses; to keep us: to preserve us in our faith and place in Jesus until we enter heaven. He wants to have His face shine upon us: to look on us with favor and acceptance that we may reflect the light of His face to others. He wills to be gracious to us: through grace He saves us and is gracious in all of His ways to His children. He will lift up His countenance upon us: He will look upon us with love, mercy, and grace; he will give us His attention; and He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will give us peace: Jesus is our peace, the Prince of Peace. In Him we have the peace of knowing Him and knowing that our sins are forgiven and that we can have the peace that passes understanding.

What a beautiful blessing (benediction)! cont.

    Num. Chap. 6 continued

So, perhaps Paul took this vow during a time of great trials and sufferings to receive strength from the Lord to endure and stay true to his calling.

For us, there are times when we can be so distracted by the cares and trials of the world that we pull away from God than towards Him. These are times when we can remind ourselves of the value of the Nazarite vow (not that we follow the rules set forth in numbers 6, but we can set a specified time period aside for the Lord to work in us. It could be a retreat, a sabbatical, a leave from work, or other type of block of time where we pointedly seek the Lord for strength and guidance, renewal and rededication.

Sometimes we just go and go and go and do not slow down because of pressures of job and life. Jesus would often take leave of the crowd and the company of the disciples and go away by Himself to a mountain or wilderness place to "be" with His Father in prayer and fellowship without the distractions of the world who needed Him.

So, in keeping with the spirit of the vow of the Nazarite and not the letter of the Law, we can learn from this and apply it in Spirit-led ways to our lives to seek the Lord for many things that require a time of separation from the world and others and for the development of spiritual habits that help us grow and serve the Lord more steadfastly and sincerely.

Perhaps John the Baptist also was one who lived the lifestyle of a Nazarite. He spent much of his time in the wilderness areas. He had a short intense time of ministry following all of that time in the wilderness. It seems that he did not know much of His cousin, Jesus, as He did not seem to know Him or know that He was the Messiah until God showed him. John said that He should be baptized by Jesus and not the other way around. But God had revealed to John how He would know the Messiah and this was indeed confirmed to John by the alightment of the Spirit of God upon Jesus after He was baptized.

    Num. Chap. 6

There are two sections to this chapter:

-Regulations for those who take a Nazarite vow

    -The Aaronic Blessing

As to the first, the Bible does not explain the origin of the Nazarite vow, but it seems to imply that it was already practiced in some way. These regulations codify the terms of such a vow.

The one who takes the vow is not to drink wine/strong drink, or eat anything from the vines grapes.

He was to let his hair grow long into locks and not trim or cut it as long as he is under the time-frame of the vow.

He is not to come in contact with any dead thing, even if members of his family die.

When the time frame for his vow comes to an end, he will go to the tent of meeting, have his hair cut, bring all of the specified animals for the burnt offering, sin offering, peace offering as designated in Leviticus Chapters 1-6. His cut hair is to be placed under all of the offerings and burned with these.

The text does not say why someone would make such a vow. But it is probably to set himself apart for a time for the Lord.

Samson was on who was Nazarite from birth. This vow and lifestyle afforded him exceptional strength from the Lord. He was also a judge over the Israelites. But even so, he was easily taken by foreign women (Philistines) and this weakness caused his demise, as he was seduced into telling the secret of his strength and when asleep, Delilah cut his hair and he became weak. His eyes were gouged out. But as his hair grew back, so the Lord returned to Samson great strength.

Samuel also was dedicated for life with this vow. 1Sam.1:11

The apostle Paul as several of his companion took a Nazarite vow also ( Acts 18) and they went to Jerusalem to the temple to fulfill the rites that were to be done at the conclusion of the time of the vow. We are not told why Paul and companions took this vow. But, if Samson's story is given as an example, it may have something to do with strengthening a person for the work God has ahead for the person.

Praise the LORD for all the comforting words of wisdom declared and shared on this forum. It is good to know that brethren exist and are active in every avenue of worship and praise unto the LORD JESUS CHRIST. It is like traveling- no matter where I go I can be assured there will be body of believers singing the praises of the LORD; preaching the Word of GOD; and I will comforted and allowed to be amongst them.

Let us extend our faith and knowledge of the LORD by praying and calling on GOD for HIS hand upon our current leadership in Washington. Our trust in Scripture and obedience to the same will bring about change as GOD, the LORD JESUS CHRIST see best for our times. May we lay aside every weight, especially the sin before us, and "let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto JESUS the author and finisher of our faith;..." Hebrews 12: 1b, 2a

So much before us to pray for and be active in; there is much we can do in HIS name. Let us start from the beginning: Romans 10: 9, 10; Ephesians 2: 8-10; Matthew 28: 18-20; 2 Chronicles 7:14, 15; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2: 1-5; 2 Peter 1: 1-8. Many more passages, I'm sure you can add to the list, Amen!

GOD bless everyone on this forum, and may the LORD GOD meet all your needs. "Who shall separate us from the love of CHRIST? ... Nay, in all things we are more than conquerors through HIM that loved us." Romans 8: 35, 37, 38, 39

As I proclaim my walk and relationship in CHRIST, it is not to defend myself or my way of life, but rather to simply declare the truth about JESUS in a way people could understand. Stephen did the same when he stood before the council.

I am not called to make you understand nor called to make you accept the gospel of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. However, my main job is to proclaim it and pray for the seed to be planted deep. What a person does with the proclamation is their own responsibility.

Through and because of CHRIST JESUS my LORD I have a better promise than land, Jerusalem; or the temple, Solomon's or the tabernacle.

I am endowed with the HOLY SPIRIT, a promised mansion, and a most spectacular life with my SAVIOR the LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST for all eternity in heaven.

    GOD bless everyone. Numbers 6: 24- 26

'There is more Scripture objectively condemning the use of alcoholic beverages than will be found on the subjects of lying, adultery, swearing, cheating, hypocrisy, pride, or even blasphemy.

    1) Genesis 9:20-26 - Noah became drunk; the result was immorality and family trouble.

    2) Genesis 19:30-38 - Lot was so drunk he did not know what he was doing; this led to immorality

    3) Leviticus 10:9-11 - God commanded priests not to drink so that they could tell the difference between the holy and the unholy.

    5) Deuteronomy 21:20 - A drunken son was stubborn and rebellious.

    6) Deuteronomy 29:5-6 - God gave no grape juice to Israel nor did they have intoxicating drink in the wilderness.

    7) Deuteronomy 32:33 - Intoxicating wine is like the poison of serpents, the cruel venom of asps.

    8) Judges 13:4, 7, 14 - Samson was to be a Nazarite for life. His mother was told not to drink wine or strong drink.

We are in a "siege" our selves. Regardless of which group in the city we are in, we all suffer. There seems to be no end in sight, however the right path for us to choose is in our Savior and Lord God Jesus Christ. Scripture and our own history reminds us of the grace and mercies from the Lord. Let there be no doubt in the loving hand of our God. Job 13:15 "Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him." Ephesians 2:4 "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us..."

We must not despair for the promises of GOD are before us. Even the king of Israel tried to kill Elisha, blaming the prophet. The one counselor of the king doubted the Word of the LORD and paid for it with his life.

Let us "trust in the Lord and lean not onto our own understanding."

Look up for our redemption is nigh. The prayers of the saints are powerful and most needed; and our God is faithful and righteous in all His ways.

    Numbers 6: 24 - 27

This is a fascinating thing. I heard a sermon one time saying the words spoken about "if someone sees the face of GOD they cannot live" he said "they cannot live, the same" Is this the question you're looking deeper into? Genesis 32:20,30, Exodus 33:11, Exodus 34:28-30,35,

    It would be very interesting to do a study on the words. Exodus 3:6, Exodus 33:20,23, Numbers 6:25, Deuteronomy 5:1-5, Deuteronomy 31:17,18, Deuteronomy 32:20, Deuteronomy 34:10, Judges 6:22, 1Kings 13:6, 1Chronicles 16:11, 2Chronicles 7:14, 2Chronicles 30:9, Psalms 13:1, Psalms 17:5, Psalms 22:24, Psalms 105:4, Isaiah 54:8, Isaiah 59:2, Jeremiah 21:10, Ezekiel 20:35,

Perhaps it's the word "man" that the emphasise is. Romans 8:14, Galatians 4:6, Hebrews 12:7, John 1:12, Philippians 2:15, 1John 3:1,2 , 1John 4:15, How sad it is when a living father says "see his face no more" or turns his face.

Genesis 3:8-10, interestingly, in this translation it says they heard "the voice of the LORD" they "hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God"

What's amazing is: Genesis 4:16, it appears even though they were cast out of the garden GOD's presence was still with them.

    Psalms 139, Job 4:15,

    Hopefully this is helpful

Hello Steven. To first state, a Nazarite & a Nazarene are two different words & meanings, as some folk mix up. Jesus was said to be a Nazarene ( Matthew 2:23) since His 'parents' returned back to Israel from Egypt & dwelt in the city of Nazareth.

But the term 'Nazarite', denoted those of Israel who took on a special vow as prescribed in Numbers 6:2-21. The word means generally a person who is separated from others and consecrated to God. The vow of a Nazarite involved three things: abstinence from wine and strong drink, refraining from cutting the hair off the head during the whole period of the vow, & the avoidance of contact with a dead body.

When the duration of the vow came to an end, the Nazarite had to present himself at the door of the sanctuary with a "he lamb of the first year for a burnt-offering", "a ewe lamb of the first year for a sin-offering, & "a ram for a peace-offering" (all blemish-free). After these sacrifices were offered by the priest, the Nazarite cut off his hair at the door and threw it into the fire which was under the peace-offerings. In the New Testament, we see the Apostle Paul being under this Nazarite vow ( Acts 18:18) & then again in Acts 21:23-26. This last one was done because of a matter with the Jews under the vow, but it was clearly stated that this Nazarite vow, or any Jewish custom, was not required of Gentiles.

Jesus Likely Had Black Hair and a Beard.

Jesus told his followers, "And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black" ( Matthew 5:36).

Jesus probably had a beard and short curly hair with long sideburns or "payot." Jesus followed the law in Leviticus 19:27 which said, "You shall not round off the hair on your temples or mar the edges of your beard." Even today, Orthodox Jewish men grow long hair on the sides of their heads.

Shorter hair was considered the norm for Jewish men and for Romans. Paul explains to early Christians in Corinth, "Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, 1 Corinthians 11:14-15; Numbers 6:1-8

For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed." ( Isaiah 53: 2-3, 5)

The greatness of my God, the Lord Jesus Christ is His understanding of each of us. Each Saint, even the lost are different. The salvation for each person is the same- the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. However the path of our relationship with the Lord God is different for every Saint.

We are to be encouragers in our walk with others. Having an internet connection is not automatically evil or a dereliction of my faith. With my internet connection I am able to support 8 different ministries around the world. I am able to pray for situations I would not have otherwise known with out my internet connection. My connection allows me to hear and study the Word of God through platforms such as this one. I can hear and sing along with Godly music that lifts my soul. With my internet connection I can earn a little bit to supplement my meager social security benefits and still give to the church and missions as the Lord God leads me.

I don't want to get long on this, so I'll close with this. I'm a retired Christian school teacher, administrator, pastor, Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. I have 5 adult children, of which 4 are in Christian ministry work with their families. (sorry for bragging in Christ name) I have been using the internet for God's work for about 20 years.

I am physically unable to get around as I used too. I currently live with my youngest son who is wheel chair bound. Since the lock downs and such, with out the God given internet I would have a difficult time "worshipping" my God. The Bible tells me that every thing is good, and blessed by the Lord. We are the ones who mess it up, and make it a "dereliction." One of my life's verse is Galatians 5:16 "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." One of my visiting preacher friends said after preaching "if I've stepped on some toes- good! Live with it!"

God bless you all on this forum. Numbers 6: 24-27. March 2, 2022
