To the question, "Who are the saints?" let me respond as follows: Saints are not some special class/group/subset of believers but are actually any who have trusted the Lord Jesus and are born again. See Philippians 1:1 for a proof text. Here you find mentioned those who makes up the church, saints, plus the two offices delineated in the New Testament for each local church; bishops and deacons.

Billy for Verse 6@ "For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things." Your/our worth is in Him and if we are true to the calling He has placed upon our/your heart He will finish that which He has started! :)

I love reading Philippians. Apostle St.Paul, is so compassionate about every word he speaks. He speaks a lot about joy and peace. He stands strong in what he believes in. I love the fact the way He reminds us of the Laws; he explains the difference in the graces and the mercies. When reading Philippians I get more and more out of it each time!!! The verses are all so powerful to me!

Let us pray to Jesus Christ, asking him to help us all. We all need His strength to be brave in the face of our enemies and to continue on the right path. Jesus, be the might in all our brothres and sisters, renewing them and helping them to carry their daily crosses with ever renewed strength. Amen.

Being strong willed, God has been longsuffering - still have a long ways to go! Thank God that God's righteousness for us is a gift through the abundance of Grace! Romans 5:17 KJV For if by one man's offence death reigned by one much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. God is working with us to Sanctify us and He will finish that work until the day of Jesus Christ! Philippians 1:6 KJV Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: What really helps is to take Romans 12:1-2 seriously everyday and to take on the challenge of letting the Holy Spirit, tempered with Scripture and Prayer, guide you every moment of every day. One may never reach that standard, but God knows your willingness and your heart and that is what Matters to Him most!

PAUL WHO WAS AGAINST THE FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST HELP PERSECUTE THE BELIEVERS IN CHRIST, HAD A HEART TRANSPLANT WHEN HE MET JESUS FOR HIMSELF! PAUL HATED WHAT HE DID NOT UNDERSTAND LIKE SO MANY DO TODAY! EVEN PEOPLE THAT GOES TO CHURCH REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND THE LOVE OF GOD! TO SAY WE HAVE GOD IN OUR HEART, WE MUST ALSO HAVE LOVE FOR OTHERS NOT HATRED! PAUL WAS HATEFUL BEFORE HE MET CHRIST, BUT AFTER CHRIST PIERCED HIS HEART LOVE TOOK OVER HIS LIFE! PAUL WAS AMAZED HOW JESUS LOVED HIM EVEN WHEN HE WAS AT HIS WORSE WHICH HUMBLED PAUL TO ASK GOD WHAT WAS HIS WILL FOR HIS LIFE! PAUL STOP LIVING FOR HIMSELF AND STARTED LIVING FOR CHRIST! PAUL REALIZED THAT EVERYTHING HE THOUGHT HE GAINED IN LIFE WAS NOTHING COMPARED TO THE LOVE OF CHRIST WHICH GAVE HIM INNER LOVE, PEACE, AND JOY! THAT'S WHY PAUL SAID TO LIVE IS CHRIST AND TO DIE IS GAIN CAUSE WE CAN NOT LOSE GIVING OUR LIFE TO CHRIST! NOT JUST ON SUNDAY BUT GIVE GOD OUR EVERYDAY LIFE! GOD IS NOT LOOKING FOR SUNDAY'S BEST, BUT HE IS LOOKING FOR SEVEN DAYS A WEEK BELIEVERS! TRUE BELIEVERS LOVES GOD WITH THEIR WHOLE HEART, MIND, BODY, AND SOUL! LIKE PAUL SAID IN ROMANS 8:39, WE CANT LET NOTHING SEPARATE US FROM TRUE LOVE I MEAN NOTHING!!! GOD'S LOVE WILL NEVER CHANGE BUT THE THINGS IN LIFE WILL! DO U WANT REAL OR FAKE??? AMEN! GLORY BE TO GOD!!!
  • Colleen on Philippians 1:21 - 9 years ago
My only desire is that I can be used by God for His great purpose. When I am no longer any use to Him, why would I want to be here? I would much rather be home with Him.
  • Arowosafe Oluwasanmi on Philippians 1:21 - 9 years ago
To live is Christ could mean that him fulfilling the will of Christ that if not for Christ he would not have anything to live for. The gospel commited to him was the only thing keeping him alive if he should live. To die is gain means that he will certainly put a permanent stop to his gospel suffering and also enable meet with Jesus whose gospel he has been defending and receive the crown of glory.

It seems that David is under the gun. He is torn with the love he has for God and the desire to be with Him, or to face life 's incredible struggles. The apostle Paul had that struggle. In Philippians 1:23, he wrote, But I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. David goes on to say, but I hope in Thy word. The believer in God knows the end of it all. He has read the end of the Book! It is God 's word and His promises that have sustained men even to be burned alive, that could simply have been avoided by renouncing their faith in God. Paul in that same chapter said, Philippians 4:21 for me to live is Christ and to die is gain.
  • Mike D on Psalms 119:74 - 9 years ago
We have a picture in the book of Philippians that best illustrates this verse. Philippians 1:14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, are waxing confident by my bonds, are more bold to speak the word without fear. When others of like faith see a brother going though a severe trial and his faith in God increases, it 's like a fire that spreads that cannot be extinguished. That person becomes a beacon for God, testifying that God can be trusted. Where there is hope there is joy right along side of it. That person brings glory to God for simply trusting God in the trial.

When we put God first into our lives. God 's goodness ands his mercy is always follow us. All things that we need will be added. God 's words are more important to meditate day and night as God is our life. Our faith comes only by hearing the word of God. Jesus did fullfilled the scriptures and he has leading us to the living water, the word of God. Thanks to Jesus for his precious blood tht shed for us. His Resurrection, his ascencion and the Holy Spirit. Everything is possible with God

I lost my wife May 15 and i was broken. While walking this verse came to me, "To die is gain and to live is Christ " so I had to look it up, the whole thing and thank the brother for the background. Christ is always calling us to Himself in all things and at all times. Lord have mercy on me a sinner. I ', Slavic and an ex-Catholic I think that is the most perfect prayer for this old broken man.
  • Let the church say Amen on Philippians 1:21 - 9 years ago
In totally agreement, these are my favorite verses! Should by death occur before the Lord 's return Rapture of the Body of Christ , I 've told my children that if they do nothing else, they absolutely have to have these verses read aloud! Each time I read these verses I 'm so thrilled I get goose-bumps! Love to all the sisters and brother in Christ. World without end.
  • Anthony Sims on Philippians 1 - 9 years ago
Paul wrote this book while in prison. While in prison Paul witnessed and shared the love of Christ with everyone around him. His jailers and other inmates came to know Christ through his words and by Paul 's complete devotion to the gospel. I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS WHO STRENGTHENS ME. No matter the circumstances we face obedience to God is the only path to a life filled with joy. This world is entering into a dark Era and christians will need the strength of Jesus to withstand persecution.
  • Dwight on Job 17 - 9 years ago
I think it is very similar to Philippians 1:6. A true believer who knows that he is eternally secure realizes that no matter what takes place in his life that includes good things and will certainly include bad and tragic things, the Holy Spirit will continue to work in his life to conform him to the image of Jesus Christ.
