Yes! Brothers & Sisters we must suffer in the flesh for the kingdom of heaven, and even if we don't feel like it; God has made us strong enough to endure, or else you could not be judged for what you could not handle; God knows because he gave you the strength, according to his purpose for your life.
So in the midst of our struggling, try your best to remember, that it is opportunity, to give God high glory; by praising & worshiping his holy name, right in, and through the pain, and the suffering; cause eternal life in Paradise, with the one who has Loved you more than anyone else, is what's to gain from your unselfish suffering. .... For everything in this life is not to be compared, to what you will receive from giving up this life, out of true love for someone else; Especially for those you don't know, or even don't like.

Philippians 1:29 I could see that righteous suffering is a gift from God. And it is somthing we christians should be aware of. The goodness of God is not only seen in good things He bestwoed on us but also in the suffering we ought to go through for Jesus-Christ sake one way or the other.
  • R. D. Mattock on Philippians 1 - 11 years ago
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
John the Baptist said John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease. Galatians 4:19 tells us until Christ be formed in you. We are becoming more like Jesus Christ everyday.

Just as Christ came and fulfilled his purpose on earth. So is God giving us the assurance that whatever purpose he God has commissioned us to do, that He will help us to finish and fulfil it just as Christ did.

It would seem, according to the Word to God, that although life can become challenging in part having difficulties to face; because God Himself has begun a work in us, it will be performed to the fullest, despite any challenge or difficulty! What shall separate us from the Love of God?
  • Demilade on Philippians 1 - 11 years ago
    hmm.....what a glorious chapter.
Paul exhibits here so much LOVE for the people that he deeply desired that they grow in knowledge of GOD and be found blameless on the last day. Phill 1:9-10.....he talks about them growing in love that they begin to focus on the important. wow!!! what the light of the word does in us. His unconditional love finds expression in us and we find ourselfs passionate and praying for other believers like Paul did.

Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ Our Lord, be strong in your Faith for I bear witness of Him who Created us. Be Steadfast and know that he is with you always and is there for those you that have Faith in him for he has come in the flesh and the kingdom of Heaven has come nigh unto you. Be joyful and let your hearts be glad that you have Him and may the Love which passes all understanding be with you always. With regard to the first chapter of the Book of by Paul and Timothy, Trust these words for indeed they will set you on the paths righteousness and bring you comfort in the sure knowledge that Christ is with us. These are not Old Words they are as new and relevant today as they were then.

A must read for every sincere Christian passing through tough times, or living in affluence in order to bring out the core of our faith in HIS faithfulness.

Just went from home going to a service for one of the Church members of my father's Church Mt. Zion Baptist, and this is the completion of this verse, when Jesus calls us home to glory. Jesus prayed that we would be with him in heaven, and at salvation, He justifies us, separates us for His service, then He calls us home to glory. Thank God death is not the end, but a transformation to glory. Praise God when we all get to heaven, what a glorious day that will be.

Reading this chapter shows how Paul was torn between going to our father where he knows things are great, or staying here on earth to continue his work. Question, what would you do?

    @ Terrance,
Yes homosexuality is a sin, acknowledging it for a sin is in fact the beginning of deliverance.
No matter what reasons people may put forward to justify it, but homosexuality is a sin. It is a deception (misconception) in its lower levels, and a possession at its higher levels.
A possession by two kinds of spirits; the spirit of self-mutilation, and that of sadism. Of course some justify it saying some people are born with that leaning, so it should be normal, but there are also people who are born with other kind of sicknesses, and we still consider them as sick people.
As we Christians need to please and honour God, God is the one to say what is good and bad ( Isaiah 5:20). And in that very category, God says it is bad, irrespective to what community says.
So the choice is ours to either please God, or relinquish to world’s fades.
Happily that you are willing to withstand. I can say to you “that he which hath begun a good work (of deliverance) in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” Philippians 1:6.
    So, DON’T GIVE UP.

Paul gives us such hope in that he was clear that in Christ, we know that we will continue to be safe and secure, knowing that a better place is waiting. He had no fear of death. Hoped to be with the Lord, but was willing to stay and do his will.

  • Timothy Wayne George on Philippians 1 - 12 years ago
Philippians 1:20 Paul's hope is that Christ will be magnified in his body by life, and by death. When we minister to people who are sick, we have to remind them that our chief end is to glorify God, and keep His commandments. Paul wanted to be with Christ which was far better, but he knew that the Lord wanted him to encourage the believers to be strong in the Lord Jesus Christ. Just before he passed to glory, my father reminded me of this verse, that it is appointed for us not only to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, but also to suffer for Him. When times get hard for us, we are not to complain, but to praise God, for all things work together for good to those who love the Lord. To live is Christ, and to die gain.

Hi; the John 14:26; John 15:26; John 16:13
John 14:26 = Jesus speaking said,
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. This clarifys the issue of the Trinity that some seem to be having trouble with. don't fall into the trap of splitting hairs. The Word became flesh, just do what He says. regards.N

God is faithful, Philippians 1 is an amazing passage that brings alot of insight on how to be happy serving the Lord even in the midst of circumstance. In this life, there are many bumbs along our way but God has given us victory and Christ made it revealed to us that He comes that our Joy be field. The secret of Paul even while he was in prison yet he found it a previledge to had an encounter with Chrit, Acts 9. The best part of it all God shows to be what He says He will. He called and He all revealed to the Saint why He called. He also arranged for the provisons. Praise God! Thank you and GOD bless you.

The truth is the most powerful words ever to be written. I read and yet never understood. Paul fears nothing and is greatful to be in prison for Jesus! He came to me and washed me in His grace!
  • Kourtney Osborne on Philippians 1 - 12 years ago
That has got to be a amazing feeling to be used by GOD in such a great way though we are nothing before the LORD yet he used brother Paul for a blessed missionary work to reach the gentile nation which desperately needed the LORD how great and awesoome our LORD is to have pity on people who walk as if he didnt exist.

I bless the 'LORD' for this day, I bless the 'LORD' for this passage of scripture, and I bless the 'LORD' for my fellow comrades in the gospel of our 'LORD and 'SAVIOR','JESUS CHRIST'. I am so grateful for the redemptive work that 'GOD' has and is yet bestowing upon the lives of his people through the word. This passage builds us up in hope, faith, and love that gives great joy to the believer that prays for his or her bretheren. my mom use to sing a song that says: Pray on my child you got a home on high. So in the trials, and tribulations, wheather her bond or free, for if we suffer, we too shall reign.

I know that every word in the bible is sent from GOD delivered by holy men of GOD to benefit the wise!
  • Tenny on Philippians 1 - 13 years ago
To me it is telling us that as ambassadors for christ we should talk the talk and walk the talk. We should never be afraid to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Christ died for us that we may live for him, we should be willing to live for him and die for him also. Jesus is coming soon, we should be ready for anything.
  • Rachel ashubwe on Philippians 1 - 13 years ago
to live is christ to die is gain
it doesnt matter what motivates people to preach be it pretence or truth as long as the word of God is preached then thats what matters
