'Who being in the form of God '- "In the beginning was the word, the word was with God and the word was God.All things were made through him, and without HIM, nothing was made that was made " John1:1-3.... Jesus was in the same spirit form as God HIMSELF, He is the Son of God. He was not an afterthought of creation. The difference here is that Satan was also in spirit form, but he wanted to be like God. In fact, he aspired, and thought with pride in his heart that he could be God. "No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known. " John1:18 "Thought it not robbery to be equal with God " "You heard me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you. ' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. John14:28 But Jesus, in that form of God, never thought he was being reduced to nothing, when he took the form of man. there was no pride, no injustice, rather a calm acceptance of what God, His father, wanted him to do on earth. And when He was done, He asked His father to glorify him. "I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do. "Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was " John17:4-5

My thoughts on this verse are that it speaks literally to the fact that one of the Sons of God would be none other than a God, scripture speaks a lot of this. In the book if Revelation Jesus says God, even my God shall give you a new name. The sad fact is that as Christians today our education today is often what we here on Sunday expounded from the pulpit and we never bother to read for ourselves, how many everyday Christians read scripture faithfully and actually seek Gods wisdom, study to show thy self an approved workman rightly dividing the word of God. People want to make everything about their beliefs on the trinity, and unless you have truly studied and know when and how it started and what is scriptural and what is just man professing to be God you should be very careful and guard and protect yourself. No man has seen the face of God save Him that came from the Fathers Bosoom who thought it not robbery to be equal to God.

Jesus is the only Jehovah who never leave us comfortless. He is the only loving Father to us who always saves us and never fail us. Therefore we must obey his commandments wether his Holy presence is not with us on earth but by faith, we must walk with Jesus by faith and not by sight, and love Jesus with all our hearts for He is the only perfect obedience to God. Jesus loves us and he wants us to understand his love, mercy and grace.

When people think about Jesus, they remember he died on the cross for us. People in general do not stop to really consider all of what he really did for us in so much depth. He had a vision and a mission far beyond our human comprehension. This passage has the intensity and depth to reach hearts. It is a passage to meditate on and soak in. As we bring the good news of the Gospel to others, it needs to be mentioned for the word of God traverses unto hearts.

Deception comes when we flatter ourselves on thing done through the grace of God, hereby resulting into the severity of God, whose architech is pride.
  • Elijah on Matthew 10 - 11 years ago
"And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. " Taking up a cross is for crucifying the flesh. Paul has said "O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? " He was talking about the struggle he and all born again believers deal with when it comes to wanting to do God 's will, but our flesh wants to fulfill the lusts of the old us that we are to deny daily. Things such as lasciviousness, pride, covetousness, rage, etc. To take up your cross is to seek and fulfill God 's will and not your own. To go without for righteousness sake, to make of yourself of no reputation, to keep God 's commandments instead of giving into sinful pleasure, to keep yourself from being corrupted by the things and people of this present evil generation. Christ lived a life of self denial, lowliness, affliction, temptation, living for others and bearing their burdens. He lived for the glory and approval of God and not of man. We are to do the same. It is by no means easy, but rely on his strength and take heart, for he that is in you is greater and has overcome the world. 2 Timothy 2:12 says "If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: " Those that are disciples inwardly and not just outwardly are the ones that are approved of God. Bible holds so much practical value. This scripture is beneficial in the relationship we have with our fellow humans. This would be a nice point to teach children in order to help them make friends. Also, a good reminder for teenagers as they have more opportunities to volunteer, or help with relationships with their parents or grandparents. For adults, definitely giving back to the community and especially at work. This one scripture is beneficial to all to help them go through life a little easier.

Trinitarian Alert Look at all the explanation of this verse. Not one of them addresses what Gods form was. God has always been spirit. This was written after Jesus ascended to heaven. So Jesus who now is in Gods form, spirit, thought it robbery to be equal to God, not. RemembeR this is the old English

When one has a teacher teaching them to do mathematics they are later tested ,where they are given some sums to work them out. They have to follow the procedure that the teacher taught them in class or else they will fail and hence be disqualified to continue with the class. The same is in salvation. When we believed Jesus as savior we have to make our faith grow according to the word of God which is the procedure that tests us .Faith come by hearing and by hearing by the word of God. .Salvation is not a one day thing but you have to work it out daily.Growth is a process that takes time. "Who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a time, if necessary, you may have to suffer griefs through many trials, So that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tried with fire, might result in praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. Though you have not seen him, you love him though you do not see him now, but believe in him, you rejoice with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory, Receiving the end of your faith the salvation of your souls ". 1 Pet 1 5 9.

The small death we all suffer from murmurings is borne by our reputation. We lose the brightness of His love when we murmur. Jesus knew the burden of the cross. He shared His ache with His Father. Yet, silently, He bore marks. We do not honor The LORD when we are found murmuring.

God s Son emptied himself and took a slave s form and came to be in the likeness of men. He willingly relinquished all his personal advantages by becoming a human and offering his life as a ransom in order to undo the harm caused by Satan. Genesis 3 1 7 Mark 10 45 That meant coming to live among sinful mankind in a world lying in the power of Satan the Devil. 1 John 5 19 It also meant putting up with personal discomfort and inconvenience. Whatever it cost him, however, Jesus Christ was determined to do his Father s will

It is God that gives good gifts to men, and by His will we by faith seek to do all He has called us into, that by His grace we will work out our salvation experience with the hope set before us! For it is Him who gives us the both ,to will and to do! Out of His good pleasure.
