    Kenneth:

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY, and ONE SPIRIT ....

Ephesians 4:6 ONE GOD, and FATHER OF ALL .....

Every man has his being in this ONE SPIRIT, although most haven't come to this TRUTH, YET

    Spirit is Life and Truth.

John was not the reincarnation of Elijah, but did the WORKS OF GOD through this One Spirit, this One Power, just as Elijah did; John came in the Spirit of Elijah, but that Spirit is God.

You have you being in this One Spirit, and when this One Spirit wants you to do something, you also will be like Elijah and John and everyone else BORN OF TRUTH.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (Spirit) that worketh IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO his pleasure.

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY, and ONE SPIRIT ......

Ephesians 4:6 ONE GOD and FATHER OF ALL ......

God is Spirit, Spirit is God, no one can see Spirit, therefore no one can see God.

God (Spirit) is all things that can't be seen: life, faith, love, truth, wisdom, counsel, understanding, mercy, obedience, light (not physical light), ETC.

God wanted all these things to be seen, so he created a BODY, and he placed the FULLNESS of himself in that BODY.

That BODY is CHRIST; that holds the FULLNESS of SPIRIT (God), all of GOD, life, love, faith, truth, ETC. can be seen in Christ. Christ said if you have seen me you have seen my Father.

Christ, is ONLY THE BODY, for he said, the words you hear are not my words, but my Father's words, the work's you see are not my work's but my Father's works, of MYSELF I (the body) can do NOTHING.

We were given that same BODY at Christ resurrection; therefore we must say the same thing as Christ, its not my words you hear but my Father's words, it's not my works you see but my Father's works; of myself I (the body) can DO NOTHING.

Philippians 2:12 For it is God (Spirit) that worketh IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

He does the same thing in Christ. It's just that Christ knows this TRUTH, therefore he was without sin.

Ezekiel 36:27 And I (Spirit) will put my Spirit IN YOU (Christ), and cause you (Christ) to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgements and DO THEM.

Through TRUTH we are being created in to the exactness of Christ, (A BODY) that holds the FULLNES OF SPIRIT.

    DEAR RICK

Your question made me think of the passage in Philippians 2:5-8 stating "Let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross." (NIV)

And Philippians 4:8 which says, "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things."

I am sure that others will have something to add.

Here's a scripture that to add to what Gigi has said.

Philippians 2:5-7. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

WHO, BEING IN THE FORM OF God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

    God bless.

    Fred, Chris & Tom,

    While reading your comments, I'm reminded of Saul. 1Samuel 10:1-12, 1Samuel 10:26, 1Samuel 11:6, even 1Samuel 19:19-24,

    1Samuel 18:12

I guess that's where "we work out our own Salvation with fear & trembling" comes in. Philippians 2:2, Paul writing these also while in bonds Philippians 1, Philippians 4:23,

    Even, Solomon 1Kings 11:9,

You asked "how" to find Philippians 4:13, it should link you to this verse on the website. Also on the site top it has tabs for KJV version & 1611, if you click either, you can search Books, either in Table of Contents page, or by name, in search bar on right under header/heading on page.

If you're asking how to find how, [To do all things through CHRIST who strengthens me.]

1st, please read the verses prior in Philippians 1, note Philippians 1:6,9,10,11, &

2nd, Philippians 4:4 "Rejoice in the LORD always, again I say rejoice." meaning we can "rejoice" cheer up, (hail) enthusiasticly acknowledge The LORD's accomplishments. Knowing His Power, Truth, Love & compassion & purposes for us. If we Believe & have Faith in HIM & The WORD. For HE has a will & purpose for us all, Philippians 2:13, Philippians 3:21,

Philippians 4:6,7,8,9 are all actions we are to take. Philippians 1:11, Philippians 2:4,14,15, Philippians 3:13,14,

3rd Paul in bonds in Rome it appears, Philippians 1:12,13,14, Philippians 4:23,24, & in context of what he's saying in Chptr 4, verse 13. He says "I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound, every where and in all things. ...." in Philippians 4:11,12,13,

    Note Philippians 1:19,20,21,23,24,

He's speaking I believe; the ability to endure even the worst of circumstances. Paul being an example of this: Philippians 1:29, following Jesus' example: Philippians 2:5-8, Philippians 3:8,10,

Hopefully these are helpful to endure any & every thing you have to face

Wendy, you find it by finding what TRUTH is.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Wendy, you are a new creation in Christ.

Christ came as sinful flesh (you were that sinful flesh) and DIED, Wendy, you, sinful flesh died on that cross, and as you died with Christ, you also arose with Christ, a new creation.

    Colossians 1:27 ....that mystery....Christ in you ....

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (Spirit)(Christ in you) that WORKETH (Spirit)(Christ, not you, you died) in you both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Ezekiel 36:27 And I (Christ) will put my spirit within you, and CAUSE YOU to walk in my statues, and ye shall keep my judgements, and DO THEM.

And truth shall set you free.

Philippians 4:13 I (Wendy, the new creation) can do all things THROUGH Christ which strengeneth me.

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the (works of) the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us that are saved it (the workings of the cross) is the POWER OF GOD.

    How do I find philippians 4:13 ?
  • ELB - In Reply on Genesis 1 - 2 years ago
Rich, you don't pray to the Holy Spirit, but you pray THROUGH the Holy SPIRIT.

When Christ came as sinful flesh and DIED, sinful flesh (YOU) died, and were raise (with CHRIST) a new creation.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (SPIRIT, LIFE and TRUTH) that WORKETH IN YOU (Christ has replaced sinful flesh (you) with himself (SPIRIT), and everything that he is, is now IN YOU) TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

We don't know what to pray for, but Christ as the mediator between Father and Son(s) does know. So what ever you pray for is being caused by the LIFE, now in you.

Christ is the ROOT (LIFE), we are the branches, without THE ROOT (LIFE AND TRUTH) the branches would wither and die), of ourselves WE CAN DO NOTHING.

Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put MY SPIRIT within you, and CAUSE YOU to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgements, and DO THEM.

1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of GOD (truth and life) doth not commit sin; for his seed (truth and life) remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of GOD (Spirit, Truth and Life).

Proverbs 16:6 By TRUTH and MERCY (which are GOD) iniquity is purged ....

    Hi Free.

    Thanks for your reply.

I believe we are given the Holyspirit is given to every believer.

What ever we do for the Lord it is he that does it through us.

    Philippians 2:13.

But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

    1 Corinthians 12:11.

This goes for spiritual fruit as well as spiritual gifts.

When we are born again we are a empty vessel and have nothing to offer. All our fleshly talents is insignificant.

It seems in the scripture we are confirmed by our fruit, "Not our gifts." Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

WHEREFORE BY THEIR FRUITS YE SHALL KNOW THEM. Matthew 7:15-20.

    Also:

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: FOR WITHOUT ME YE CAN DO NOTHING.

If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. John 15:4-8.

All this is inward. Filling an empty vessel.

    God bless.

PJ, the blood of Christ covers all sin, but what's the one sin that has separated man for God; not believing what God says.

The shadow is the first children of Israel. They believed that God was God, but they didn't believe what God said.

The same is true today, the second children of Israel (Christ's children) believe God is God, but they don't believe what God says.

They believe that God is the WORD, but they don't believe his words.

Hebrews 3:17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? Was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

Hebrews 3:18 And to whom swear he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

Hebrews 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief (that's the one sin that keeps man from being ONE WITH CHRIST).

Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into THAT REST, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Hebrews 4:10 For he that hath entered into HIS REST, he also has ceased from HIS OWN WORKS, as did God from his.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (CHRIST IN YOU) that WORKETH in you both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Most haven't ceased from THEIR OWN WORKS and BELIEVED that it is the WORKS OF THE HOLY GHOST (CHRIST IN YOU)

Psalms 12:4 Who have said, With our tongue we shall prevail, OUR LIPS ARE OUR OWN: who is Lord over us.

They don't believe WITHOUT ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING.

! Corinthians 3:7 For who maketh thee to differ from another, and what do you have that you DID NOT RECEIVE? now if thou received it, why dost thou glory, as if thou RECEIVED IT NOT.

Proverbs 16:6 By truth and mercy iniquity is purged ....

Hi Jim, just noticed your comment about denying Jesus's divinity. People try to do that from time to time, but in order to do so requires cherry picking one verse, twisting it, then ignoring the mountain of other verses in the Bible. In this case you're conflating God's son with the phrase 'sons of God' which was used in a general sense. The same unsound logic can be applied to twist anything else into what you want it to mean. It's pretty hard to deny verses like John 1:1 that clearly say Jesus is God though. It takes mental gymnastics to escape the truth of such verses. Jesus in Isaiah 7:14 is called Immanuel which literally means "God with us" but its up to each person whether they want to accept Jesus or deny Him. 1 John 2:22-24

Do you consider yourself a Christian? To be a Christian means you follow Jesus Christ and if you don't believe Jesus is Lord then that is similar to what nonbelievers think. Some even admit who Jesus is, but still stubbornly won't accept Him. It's a spiritual battle. Matthew 7:21

John 14:6 - No one comes to the Father (also God) but through Jesus.

1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

John 10:30 "I and my Father are one."

John 8:19 "if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also."

Philippians 2:5 - 2:8 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:"

2 Corinthians 5:19 "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."

John 1:3 - All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

    John 20:28

Pretty hard to disregard all these Biblical truths about Jesus. He became flesh and died for you. Have you tried praying and asking who Jesus is and to reveal that to you?

Kay, is it your faith, or Christ faith: that has been given to you. If it's is his faith then it has to be HIS WORKS also.

Psalms 92:4 For thou Lord, has made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

Psalms 92:3 O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

Revelation 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth MY WORKS unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations.

Revelation 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

Kay, we died on the cross, the life now in us is Christ.

Colossians 1:27 .... this mystery.... CHRIST IN YOU....

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (CHRIST IN YOU) that WORKETH IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Ray, man is a BODY made from dust.

God is LIFE, God is SPIRIT, therefore Spirit is life.

    Job 34:14 If he (SPIRIT) set his (Spirit's) heart upon man, if he (Spirit) gather unto himself his (God's) spirit and his (God's) breath;

Job 34:15 ALL FLESH shall perish together, and man shall turn again into dust.

Acts 17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that the Lord is God of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands,

    Acts 17:25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he GIVETH TO ALL life, and breath, and ALL THINGS;

Acts 17:26 And hath made of one blood all nations to dwell on the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation.

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY (the vessel that holds life) and one Spirit (the life in the vessel)....

Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father OF ALL, who is above ALL, and through ALL, and IN YOU ALL.

Hebrews 12:23 ... and to the spirits of just men MADE PERFECT,

Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD (LIFE, TRUTH) that worketh IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

We are just the vessel that holds God (Life, Truth). Life and Truth cannot die, so when this body of flesh dies Christ gives us HIS BODY. We are joined in union with Christ.

John, God is no respector of persons, he does NOTHING because of who we are, he does EVERYTHING because of who HE IS.

Casting lots is simply so we can understand that it's God's work and God's appointed timing. We receive these benefits of mercy and truth at God's appointed time and by HIS WORKS.

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which you have received of him ABIDETH IN YOU, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it (the anointing) has taught you, you shall abide in him.

Colossians 1:27 ....this mystery....CHRIST IN YOU.....

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (CHRIST IN YOU) that WORKETH IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

You are THE BODY OF CHRIST, the new BIRTH.

Luke 3:23 is the clearest reference to Christ's age when He began public ministry. That was the age; traditionally when according to 2 Samuel 5:4 David began to reign. We need to remember that Christ in all ways had to be as we were; but without sin. Obedience to parents meant that He grew in "wisdom and stature". He also "learned obedience" according to some other verses. How the incarnate Son of God became of "no reputation" in order to stand in and be our Redeemer may be beyond our comprehension; but it is so.

Christ would be of "no reputation" ( Philippians 2:7 etal). To be truly a Rabbi; He also was fulfilling an age requirement; as He was Prophet; King and Priest. When the Spirit came down on Him as a dove; and He went out thenceforth to be tempted of the Devil ( Matthew 4:1) then He began the inevitable course of ministry leading Him to the cross. This shows also the value of His family; as we can see when basically He told John to take care of His mother at the crucifixion. Nonetheless; at 12 years old He showed who He would become. It is certain that as John also indicated; that if everything were to be told of Him all the world's books couldn't contain it. It is also true that much spurious material of the sol called "missing years" were allowed by God so that only those who truly hear His voice would respond; and also foreknew the 66 books that would result in the accepted Canon. It doesn't deny that some truths exist that are pieces of the original text from Enoch's prophecy; for instance, nor make all of Satan's statements something we should follow; but ensures that they have been faithfully recorded.

We also have the Apostle Paul and what Christ said to him; as well as John at Patmos (not to mention Pentecost before He rose from the dead). There is also the "Cristophone" occuring with the Angel of God in the O.T. He is eternal; and now risen!

    Amen.

    Jesus Christ is God:

Deity is the only explanation for all that He was and all that He did.

    (1) He was pre-existent with the Father. "The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made" ( John 1:2, 3, KJV). (Also see John 17:5 and Colossians 1:17.)

    (2) He is the Son of God.

His enemies admitted: "He...said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God" ( John 5:18, KJV).

Peter confessed: "And we believe and are sure that thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God" ( John 6:69, KJV).

Jesus affirmed: "I and my Father are one" ( John 10:30, NIV).

    (3) He was sinless, as only God can be.

Jesus challenged His enemies: "Which of you convinceth me of sin?" ( John 8:46, KJV).

Peter testified: "...Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example that ye should follow his steps: who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth" ( 1 Peter 2:21, 22, KJV).

Paul stated: "For he...made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" ( 2 Corinthians 5:21, KJV).

    (4) He forgives sin, as only God can.

The Scribes said: "Who can forgive sins but God only?" ( Mark 2:7, KJV).

Jesus said: "But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins..." ( Matthew 9:6, KJV). (Also see John 8:11.)

Peter wrote: "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed" ( 1 Peter 2:24, KJV).

    (5) He performed miraculous works.

He healed the sick: Matthew 8:9-13; Luke 4:31-44; 5:12-15; John 4:43 to 5:16; and other references.

He fed the hungry: John 6; Mark 8, etc.

He raised the dead: Luke 7:11-18; John 11:1-46.

    Jesus Christ Became Man:

"And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us...full of grace and truth" ( John 1:14, KJV). (See also Philippians 2:7, 8.)

Dear "Lyda Bonfd" i'm really sorry for all the injustice you've experienced. I will try to comfort u, you are a Christian with all your heart. What was the Lord promising those who follow Him?

Mark 10:28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.

29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,

30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

So if you read and understand, you should love knowing that Jesus will reward you with much more than what you have lost.

God hates all injustice. And He lover those who Love Him in Jesus Name. Or He tries to tell you something more, do not give up dear sister. Search for what He wants to tell you! You can try and seek the Lord for what He says about Tithing. It may give you some Aha experiences. You can seek Him at any time, He will listen to you. He will let you understand, so remember that you must be responsive as well. God bless us all in Jesus name too understand what His will are. Fill yourself with the love of God so that you can forgive, for your own sake. Pray for and receive a forgiven heart.

Philippians 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

    15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Amen in Jesus Christ holy Name above all other names. Love u in Christ

    Hello Mishael,

My thinking on this goes along with what Jesus said to His disciples in Mt. 28:18

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth." God created the universe and all creatures, He has the dominion and authority ( Dan. 4:34-35, Jude 25) over all. He is the Only True Wise Sovereign. When Jesus was incarnated, He still possessed all of His divine nature and attributes. He was still sovereign. Yet, in Philippians 2:5-6 we are told that He emptied Himself. He did not empty Himself of His divinity because that is impossible (God does not change in His nature) but it means that He lay aside His manifested glory and submitted to the Father in all things, though He is equal in all things to the Father. While living in on earth, Jesus did not exercise all of His inherent qualities in order that His mission of salvation would be fulfilled. If He exercised these inherent qualities on earth, no one could have done any harm to Him. But He allowed this to occur and chose the scourging and the cross and death. During His death and after His resurrection, He went into hell to disarm the powers there, triumphing over them and went to heaven to receive the Father's permission to once again express His power, authority and dominion as it was before He was incarnated.

Therefore, when He said this to His disciples in Matthew 28, He was letting them know where all of their authority and dominion comes from-Jesus-not themselves. So, I do not believe that believers have been given authority nor dominion because Jesus said that ALL authority belongs to Him. We can have dominion and authority through Jesus only, in His name, but we do not inherently possess it like Jesus. It is borrowed from Him. So, in our standing as children of God, we can stand against the Satan and his fallen ones by the authority of Jesus only. We can, In Jesus' name send demons and their influences away from our lives and the lives of our loved ones and we can ask and receive help and healing

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Philippians 2:9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given him name which is above every name: that at the name of JESUS every knee should bow of things in heaven, and things on earth, and things under the earth: and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

First of all, I believe the trinity. Yahweh or adonai or whatever nonsense that is, is not found in the king james bible. If people do not get the saviours name right, I doubt their salvation. Every person I know that uses the name yeshua does not believe in eternal life. The devil attacks the name of Jesus more so than any name and has put all these other false names out there to confuse people. God is not the author of confusion.

I believe we should give much attention & concern to the present Russian-Ukraine situation which could escalate to heights that will not only affect neighbouring countries, but can even be more far-reaching. Just as we would show concern for countries experiencing famine, civil war, & other atrocities, it is our duty to be informed, give whatever support we can, & most of all be in much prayer to the Lord Who has the final word & action.

If you're thinking of this aggressive act by Russia extending southwards, with the Middle East not being far away, then this can always be a possibility as other countries might take courage in pursuing acts of aggression in league with the dominant ones. We pray that Russia will come to its senses & withdraw, even as we know Putin to be of a particular bent who may get more stirred up because of any adverse responses to him. But as in all matters, personal & worldly, our hope & trust are cast upon the Lord Who superintends all things, that His Perfect Will may be realized. I think that to be unconcerned & blas about matters that might not directly affect us for the time-being, is not demonstrating a compassionate, concerned spirit to the suffering of others & the advancement of wickedness. Philippians 2:4; Philippians 4:6,7.

    Hi again Brother Dan.

Philippians 2:12. This verse speaks of ongoing obedience for those already saved. It's crucial to note that Paul is not telling them to work for their salvation. This statement implies a need to live out-to practice, demonstrate, and exhibit-the salvation which believers have in Christ.

The Greek word for "work out" is katergazomai and it can mean "to perform, it is a present tense command. so if you take that and verse 13, You are to "present that which is being worked in you."

Here's how it reads, It's one sentence. And verse 13 is very important!

"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Vs 13)- FOR IT IS GOD WHICH WORKETH IN YOU BOTH TO WILL AND TO DO OF HIS GOOD PLEASURE."

You have to have salvation IN you to work it OUT you.

Anytime we add anything to the finish work on the cross we fall from Grace!

Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

    Galatians 5:4.

You and I agree on some things but where we are divided is one word.

"Requirement" I hold the view that the keeping of the law is not required for salvation. It's the Spirit in us that urges us to put forward the effort of obedience.

With the mindset that one would have to keep the law for salvation contradicts the sabbath rest they're trying to keep when we examine what that rest is.

    God bless.

    Hi Brother Spencer,

Always nice to hear from you.

You stated: Christ didn't come to keep being crucified every time we break one because we can't keep them perfectly.

I agree, Christ died once for us. Because of this, we now have the ability to receive forgiveness for sins from God thru the sacrifice of his Son Jesus. Herein lies the problem; Many people today mistakenly think that WE have no other responsibility for our salvation! They say Jesus did it all - and now we can live our worldly lives and still receive salvation. But all of the scripture tells us otherwise. Even Paul states that we must strive to work out our salvation. Philippians 2:12 "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."

Jesus tells us throughout the bible we must try to keep his commandments, and strive to be sin free. Jesus heals the invalid and then tells him - to sin no more! John 5:14 "Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee."

In summary, we must follow Jesus/God's commands (10 Commandments) and work out our own salvation - if we expect to receive his favorable judgement.

    God Bless.

Hi Karen. I love those verses in Philippians 2:12,13. In my heart, they are very rich in meaning. You're correct that salvation is a free gift - in entirety - we can contribute nothing at all to make our salvation anymore secure or special - in Christ Jesus, God has had His demands for our redemption fully realized & nothing more could be done by Him, & certainly, not by us.

If then salvation is offered freely to all when the sinner comes in repentance & faith, why the need to work out our salvation with fear & trembling? I realize that many 'Christians' have been taught, or they may have come to a wrong understanding, that if salvation is a free gift & secures them entirely, then whatever sin they commit & whatever amount of sin they engage in, will not negate that free gift. But this is a grossly false understanding from Satan, which might even show that an unregenerated spirit still exists within. When that gift is given, the forgiven sinner is so thankful for the burden & consequences of sin being removed. And that forgiven sinner also receives the Promise of the Father, the Gift of the Holy Spirit Who will indwell the child of God ( John 14:17; Romans 8:9). So, now we have a new person; outwardly without change, but inwardly completely renewed by God.

But Satan is never far away to divert our hearts from God, to look to the world & its offerings, & to become less focussed upon the Lord Who saved us & to any emerging sin within. That's why the Apostle Paul & the other apostles, had to continually remind & teach believers of who they are in Christ ( 1 Corinthians 6:19,20) & not lose their focus, becoming distracted. Every believer with God's Spirit in residence will seek to please God in every way & will do so with the power He gives us. As God is in us accomplishing His Purposes in our lives (v13), so then we too must be sensitive to God, bringing forth the fruits of our salvation (i.e. v12: exercising them carefully) to the praise of God & witness to all.

There are 27 scriptures that say it was a cross. Only 2 say Pole

    1 Corinthians 1:18

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

    Galatians 5:11

And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.

    Galatians 6:14

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

    Ephesians 2:16

And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

    Philippians 2:8

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

    Philippians 3:18

(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

    Colossians 1:20

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

    Colossians 2:14

    Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

    Hebrews 12:2

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

*Next 2 verses referring to Jesus

    Numbers 21:8

And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a POLE: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, SHALL LIVE.

    Numbers 21:9

And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, HE LIVED.

Thank You Jesus for all those You have saved this day.

By Your grace. For Your glory. Alleluia!

Matthew 1:21: Kjv: And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call

his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Philippians 2:8-11: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled

himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name

which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should

bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth:

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the

    glory of God the Father.

Matthew 4:17: From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent:

for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

    Great reply Ronald.

I believe all through the scripture it supports the view the Holyspirit empowers the believer and as the scriptures you pointed out it took the dwelling of the Holyspirit to perform in them to minister under this new covenant. You see it in the life of Peter here in Luke 22:32. When was Peter strengthened and start to perform? It's obvious in scripture after he was empowered. Christ was preaching his death and resurrection, but they couldn't receive it. In Luke 18:31-34. he declared to them what the Prophets has written, and they still couldn't grasp it because it hidden from them.

Also, in John 16:12-14. seems to suggest the same thing. The preaching of the Cross was hidden from their eyes, and it seems Paul is mentioning the same thing throughout his epistles speaking of the natural man. 1 Corinthians 2:7-14.

The Holyspirirt is essential for understand and walk. Once he reveals his truth to us they're written on our hearts it takes him to exercise those truths in us and perfect our walk. we respond to the truth by the power of the Holyspirit, likewise the Apostles.

For it is God which worketh in you both to "will" and to do of his good pleasure. Philippians 2:13.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63.

The bible is not like our textbooks in school, what we have here has to be revealed to you, 1 Corinthians 1:18-21.

    Also: 1 Corinthians 1:26-31.

You see the Holyspirits power over the flesh in Romans 8:1-14.

You see the Holyspirirt working in us through baptism given us power to cease from sin in Romans 6:1-18.

You see the contrast of the two natures in Romans 7:1-6. and so on. Here we see the contrast of what we had when we were under the law compared to what we have in Christ.

    God bless.
