Discuss Proverbs 11

    Concluding thoughts on John 16:8

    For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. ( 2 Cor. 7:10).

    Giving careful thought to the subject at hand I thought I would mention some more scripture. Romans 14:17 says:

    For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

    Understanding sin; first of all has to go beyond what we are used to in this world. Our actions are sinful; and our bodies corrupted but nothing is inherently evil about the physical part of man; indeed we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" ( Psalm 139:14). Jesus demonstrated as a perfect man that he could weep; eat; drink; and sleep as others did but set an example of serving rather than being served ( Matthew 20:28). All things are right in their place; physical intimacy in the marriage bed ( Heb. 13:4) is one good example. Killing a man in defence of a family or serving in the armed services is diametrically opposed to murdering someone out of spite.

    As believers; we should find not only repugnant the desires we once had of the world flesh and the Devil but also find that what was once the obsession of our daily lives; although we are to work diligently to serve the Lord and continue with our families whenever possible the everyday procedures are strangely dim; as it were to our heavenly hope which we have now "seated in heavenly places" ( Eph. 2:6). Our focus goes away from OURSELVES and to the Body of Christ as well as seeking to reach the lost. Proverbs 11:30 says The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

    Again; as per some of my older posts in regard to the Christian "music industry" as well as many megachurches or those supposedly exercising "manifestations" which of these exactly is causing conviction of sin to occur and is focused on God's righteousness? Finally where is the Godly fear of His wrath; that is what brings revival

    To Josiah Skiff;

    the life of youth is energetic, lively & spirited, there's much hope & aspirations towards one's future. Its appears you have much going for you. I have notices from observation of others & my own experience that wisdom was much lacking in youth vigor.

    I would ask you to consider these words, bring them to your mentors to receive a godly counsel Proverbs 11:14

    The definition of a Christian in its simplist & purest form is to be Christ-like, He's John 14:6; ask yourselve is this becoming a Navy Seal something Jesus would do? Believes follow Christ in the regeneration & are change empowering them to Luke 6:27-31;

    When the disciples want to call down thunder from heaven to destroy lives; Jesus replied Luke 9:55,56; denoting it the influence of spirit of darkness to kill & destroy lives. James 4:1,2,3,4; escape the corruption that is in this world through lust & 2Cor 6:17;

    I would encourage you to lay down your weapons Isa 2:4 & become a soldier of the Cross. 2Cor 10:14; Marry your sweet heart & live 2Cor 5:15;

    May His Light shine upon you, Blessing

    Adam we can pray for them, but the Word of God is being fulfilled everyday and the evil is taking over in this time, we are living the Lastdays now. From my understanding of the Bible it will only get worse, not better. Here's something the Holy Spirit lead me to recently. ( Proverbs 11:11) By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is (overthrown) by the (wicked). The word (overthrown) is #2040; it means to pull down or in pieces, break, destroy. The word (wicked) is #7563; it means morally wrong, an (actively) bad person, guilty, ungodly, wicked (man) that did wrong, (do or declare) wrong, violate, make trouble. The (morally wrong) (ungodly) people are in control now but not just to destroy cities but a Nation! The people in control of this County today are those spoken of in ( Eph 6:12) All who will not put on the whole armour of God will not be able to stand, they won't even see it coming. God Bless you and all who share the Truth on this site. Everyone should read, and study ( Eph 6:10-17) and get yourselves prepared!

    Follow up on humanism from last post

    There is a warning in scripture for those who are "hand in hand" in Proverbs 11:21. The evil in short will not go unpunished.

    Whenever a cause strays from Biblical guidelines of righteousness in a free and just society to hedonism and principles of satanism (do as you please) then we have the breakdown of an entire society in the end. This starts with the basic tenet of secular humanism that seemed to start with a "Christian" veneer with the folk music and peaceful demonstrations in the 60's (at least among those demonstrating even with the police violence against them). There is nothing wrong with promoting the TRUE Gospel in changing the dynamics of a society from oppressors and oppressed to a more tolerable existence if we don't get the cart before the horse. Earlier; I mentioned the Pro Lifers and the victories found recently. This has happened in a large part due to decades of prayer warriors; but we certainly should credit those who have diligently marched and spoken out on the subject for the work necessary to bring about such a change so quickly. What we can't forget is that the heart of man is basically evil. Now that there is a "bloodless" way of more than half of abortions to occur with a pill the clinics likely are becoming a thing of the past to some extent. Another concern is when the "victimization" card is used by either Pro Life or Pro Choice individuals. Men AND women are responsible for the sin they commit with relations outside of marriage. They are also generally part of a generation that doesn't want to work as much as they should or show fiscal responsibility. Of course churches need to ask if they truly support single moms and if we as a community want to take care of children whoever they are.

    Of course we can see how the desire to be free has led to promiscuity and fornication; then to homosexuality; then the other lifestyles today as society decays. The endgame is likely a merge to AI.

    There is much said about the marriage relationship.

    Confiding in another can be varied from another seeking opinions: Proverbs 15:22, Proverbs 11:14, which is wisdom, or "confiding in", do you mean adultery? Which is defined as clearly wrong.

    Ephesians 5:25 "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church, and gave himself for it:''

    If you're suspecting evil pray for wisdom James 1:5,

    Chris,

    Thank you for this post. We are a community of saints and need each other. We are to teach each other, for teachers are given to the church body for that purpose. We are to preach to one another, for pastors are given to the church body for that purpose. We are to evangelize, for evangelists are given to the church body for that purpose. We are to build each other up in the most holy faith, which involves doctrinal instruction as well as Bible reading. We are to check whatever we hear or read from others against the Scripture, but this does not mean that we only read the Bible and do not listen to or read another person expounding on the Scriptures.

    I realize that each believer is free to choose the approach to learning Scriptural truths that they believe is best. For me, I believe that God planned for us to be united together with Jesus in a common fellowship (body) where we worship, serve on another, and learn from each other communally rather than as individuals who wish to be "loners" and only use their own minds, reason, and understanding in learning Scriptural truths from the Bible. These do use something other than the Bible -their own minds, whether they will admit it or not. But, I do believe that the Bible does say in Proverbs 11:14 that "where there is no counsel, the people all; but in the multitude of counselor there is safety." This wisdom is from God and therefore good to follow. We need one another to help with our growth in knowledge of God, Jesus, and the Scriptures.

    Randy,

    A Christian since 1968, very encouraging! Especially that you're reading throughout the Bible again into study! I hope you'll keep us in your study as you go. Many of us enjoy deep study & thought in the WORD of GOD.

    There seems to be several scriptures to verify your thought, of multiple people: Genesis 1:27, let them have dominion over ._... fish, of the sea, fowl of the air, over every living thing, that moveth upon the earth.

    Genesis 4:1,2,8,13,14, Notice Genesis 4:13-17, Genesis 4:25,

    also notice by now to continue for some people to try to say "only Adam & Eve" would be to ignore all the facts of other people listed.

    Genesis 4:19,23,24,

    Genesis 5:1-2, interestingly they both male & female named "Adam"

    If you look in the Concordance by clicking on Genesis 1:27, man = mankind, human spelled English translated = the Hebrew name Adam sounds (aw-dawm)

    Please also notice Genesis 6:5,7,12,17, why would GOD destroy the whole earth if only Adam & Eve, 1 lineage which is listed in the records of Genesis were only on Earth?

    Genesis 5:3, Genesis 2:7,8,15,22, Romans 5:14, 1Corinthians 15:45, 1Chronicles 1:1, Luke 3:21-38,

    Sometimes we have to ask questions

    1st does an interpretation represent GOD's Laws, standards, examples? Leviticus 20:17, 1Corinthians 10:13, James 1:13-15, Proverbs 11:1,

    2nd What is the main points GOD is pointing us to? Romans 5:17-21,

    3rd, does it feel right, truthful, honest in our spirit? John 14:26,27, James 1:5, 1John 2:27-29,

    I believe the reason anyone has questioned outside what is written, is because false teaching: Note: 1John 2:26-29, 2Peter 2:1, 2Timothy 3:1-5,

    1John 4:1, 1Timothy 6:3-6,

    Hopefully these are all helpful in your study

    Thelma Spangler,

    I've experienced similar situations with " experienced contractors" that had really bad results. I've experienced much of that. Next time I think it may be wise for myself to inquire & require " high quality results " instead of " experienced ". I actually learned how to install my own carpet without stretching it. I had the carpet dealer cut the exact size for each room. When needed I would have it cut with extra length, for walkway, & closets, preventing seams. Then I would carefully cut those to fit as I layed it in place with a carpet knife. The " tact strip" nails alongside the walls grab carpet to lock in place. When the carpet weight is overwhelming I've had rooms clear, clean & ready to install & the carpet rolls delivered to each room. The carpet is much more manageable when opened & rolled out.

    So it seems the main question is how to handle this situation as GOD fearing believers. After a bad job has been done.?

    1st prayer, Proverbs 3:6, Proverbs 11:5,

    2nd don't withhold wages to the wage earner: Proverbs 3:27, Leviticus 19:13, Jeremiah 22:13, Malachi 3:5,

    3rd justice & judgement : Proverbs 3:27, Job 8:3, Proverbs 21:3, Ecclesiastes 5:8, Isaiah 56:1,

    Is it justice to speak up, to inform others? I ask you to seek GOD's direction & discernment on these. I'm reminded of: Matthew 5,

    Hopefully these are helpful

    Hello again John. I believe that what you did by coming to this site and praying for the people on here who posted prayer requests was the right thing to do. I was told about this site by a family member who said that she felt that I (And her too) could benefit greatly by being more mindful of the needs of others and less mindful of our own needs. God's Word says in Proverbs 11:25, "The generous man will be prosperous, And he who waters will himself be watered."

    Sometimes we can feel so 'dry' spiritually and maybe other ways as well, physically; mentally; emotionally; financially; and it could be (At times) because we have not been 'watering' others. If or when we do; God will SEE TO IT that WE get 'watered' as well. So I think it was good that you prayed for people on here John.

    And you are so right, we can get so caught up thinking, "I can't help that person; I don't have lots of money or lots of time or lots of ANYTHING...so I won't DO anything." But so often, it really IS the seemingly small things that we do for each other (IF we do them) that blesses them the most. Most of us don't NEED a million dollars; or NEED massive amounts of help, but just SOMETHING to remind us that we are not lost in the crowd; something that encourages our hearts and our spirits to keep going on. And maybe God is using your situation...NO....God IS using your situation John for SOME kind of good that you nor others might see yet. God may be teaching YOU something but He may also be teaching OTHERS something by what you are going through and HOW you go through it.

    May The Lord be lifted up and magnified and glorified through you John and through what you are going through, and the Godly way; by HIS grace; that you go through it. All glory; honor; and praise to The Lord in ALL things.

    Take care John; God bless.

    Chapter in Proverbs each day, the Word will teach you "The Way". God provided, just for all who will read and obey His Word.

    Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all things shall be added unto you.

    Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:33-34. But look at verse 25-32 and you will see What God means, but if you do not read his Word, and fellowship with God, an accept his provision, and gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Good afternoon, Kent

    I agree that the Holy Spirit is our witness to Scripture and He will guide us in our study. But I do not agree that a person does not need anyone else for Scripture says that the Holy Spirit appoints some as teachers in the body of Christ and that we are to teach one another. We are a body, we are a corporate entity, not singularly in Christ, but all believers are in Christ and are together His body. So we should remain open to learn from one another and to share our ideas about our study of Scriptures with others.

    Proverbs 11:14

    "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.

    Colossians 1:28

    "Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ."

    But there are times, also, when a person will learn straight from the Spirit. Even then every person is exhorted to not quench the Spirit...and to test all things, hold fast what is good." 1 Thessalonians 5:19-21

    1 John 4 "Be:1loved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God...."

    We all need to be yielded to the Holy Spirit, we need Him to shape our mind and understanding. We need each other, we should avoid being solitary in our day to day walk with God. We should make an effort to fellowship with others in a variety of ways and for various purposes. Studying God's Word is one of those things and purposes we should seek to do in fellowship with other believers.

    Bro Earl,

    I agree we must listen and believe God. He promises that he will Judge and punish the wicked/sinners.

    Proverbs 11:21"Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

    God tells us to love our enemies, and forgive those against us. We are to be like children, and lambs, just as Christ was our example. Matthew 18: 21-22

    "Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven." Meaning indefinitely!

    Remember Brother, this life is very short, the next one is for eternity. We can pick up our cross each day and bear it, for this short time period, because we can see our everlasting reward!

    God Bless
