The translation that quotes Proverbs 14:30, the way you quoted is within some translations of the "New International Version" Bible.

The Jerusalem Bible 1970 translation says"The life of the body is a tranquil heart,"

Hopefully these scriptures will also help. James 3:18, Proverbs 12:20, Isaiah 26:3, inside this translation

I had seen the scripture Proverbs 14:30 as a quote saying, " a heart at peace gives life'. I always like to ready the chapter to know more of what is said... God is so good! God bless you

{Part 1} I asked this question to test how many believers would be able to show and convince someone who's looking for logical proof of the existence of God. I must say it is a little disappointing to see people get increasingly hostile when I replied with typical athiest/agnostic responses to test whether anyone would be able to appropriately respond to them. I came up with this challenge to strengthen your faith and knowledge, and increase your wisdom. Few of you even believe it possible to logically prove to someone that God exists. I believe these verses apply here: Proverbs 9:8, Proverbs 9:9, Proverbs 17:10.

If your faith is rooted in mere feelings, what makes your faith more real than that of anyone else's "religion"? I struggled with this for some time as I had never as far as I know encountered an obvious miracle such as having an encounter with God regardless of how I prayed for it. What was I left with? Inside I knew I was right, but I also wondered whether my "knowing" was something supernatural or does Proverbs 14:16 apply. Am I a confident fool or spiritually guided? Maybe both? Seeing how people know so little about the spirit, I didn't believe it to be reasonable to base the most important decision of my existence, which God is the Highest, on feelings.

Basically, is it possible to logically prove the existence of God? What about evolution, doesn't that hamper the proof of God? Is there a way to disprove evolution? Is there anyone so well learned that can show me this proof? Many people who mean well say "you can't prove the existence of God, but..." however that's absolutely false. God did not leave us without evidence to prove His own existence.

In part 2 I will show some of this evidence.

2 Timothy 3:13-17. Does this relate to things like 'Christian' psychologists or psychology in general? Things like the DSM or personality disorders, etc. Isn't God's word sufficient? Psychology is rooted in the wisdom of man (and from those who denied Christ no less like Freud and Jung) so why should we listen to them when we have the word of God? 1 Corinthians 2:5, Proverbs 14:12, Proverbs 16:25, 2 Timothy 4:1-4, 1 John 2:15-17, Hebrews 4:12. Are these not related to 2 Timothy 3:13-17? Do we need to be 'diagnosed'? Are psychology and God's word compatible? If they are I would like to see some scripture that points to this (I know the Bible will not say 'psychology' specifically). This is important to me and my family as it is seeping in at the moment and I want to approach this biblically.

We only fool ourselves when we bend the bible scripture to make it comply with "Our Worldly Lifestyle".

    "saved by Grace THROUGH FAITH"

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8&9

You cut short that verse to construe it to your purposes. "and that(the faith)not of yourselves; it is the gift of God"

Faith in God is a gracious gift of God.

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith" Hebrews 12:2 I believe that if you or I were the author of our faith it will finish badly.

"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." Proverbs 14:12 & 16:25

Saved is not a condition whereby you are clinging to God, but he with you in his grasp.
  • Mild Bill - In Reply on Ephesians 2 - 3 years ago
    Connie,

"I am also a truth seeker. I am not one to declare myself wise to say that there is a right way to salvation."

So instead of the "straw people of faith" that you oppose, you see yourself "wise" in having no declaration of how and who God saves. You even quote another writer in the expectation that you are thereby justified. In fact, you have established your own idol/feeling that you take comfort in. Your description of where you stand implys that you have the truth, despite any question put to you about what it is you have. Effectively, you have, sadly, stopped seeking.

So here you are on the KJV website and when other people describe what they see from scripture on the truth of how and who God saves, you don't have to consider those words.

"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." Proverbs 14:12 and Proverbs 18:17 Stated twice in God's word to make it clear that the "right way" is important to God and to everyone who cares to hear what he has written, of course, except you. Blind faith is, blindness.

Connie, Are you saved of God and how has he done this for you? "be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you" 1Peter 3:15

David, as a 14 year old, you're certainly dealing with a lot of internal strife & challenges, & this demonstrates quite an advanced mental & spiritual development in you.

Without knowing all your facts, what I do detect is that you have a strong Will & direction for your life, & when things are not going according to plan, you become troubled & amazed. Though you did state that you're finding out that God has been helping through your problems. However, I don't think you will ultimately be successful by doing things in your wisdom & strength.

For the Christian, it takes a lot of faith in God, to be able to step back & let God lead us, direct us & help us through our difficulties. The natural man says, "I can do it on my own", because that is something inbuilt in us to bring out the "self will & self confidence" we have to know everything & accomplish everything. But as you've found out, there's limitations to what you can do & that your efforts don't always turn out as you would like. It's true that God does expect us to use the wisdom & knowledge He gives us to deal with life's matters, but He also expects us that we know from where this knowledge comes from & to Whom we need to run to when our resources are exhausted. I sense, you are learning this important Truth.

Proverbs 14:12 says, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." This tells us, at least in respect of the course & end of one's life, that man will always determine how his fate will end. But his 'wisdom' is actually folly because he simply cannot know from within himself something that only God knows & determines for man.

Rather, we must cast ourselves upon the Lord completely. Proverbs 3:5-7, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil." As Christians, we must fully trust Him.

How do you teach younger people the longer you live and grow with God life is easier but how to explain how to love God fully?
  • Chris - In Reply on Luke 11 - 4 years ago
Dylan, you've touched on several aspects of God's dealing with us.

Firstly, when the Bible speaks of 'election' it means that God had in the distant past selected those that would be His children, receive His favour & partake of His Kingdom. Israel is said to be His elect (e.g. Isaiah 45:4) & now those also who have now come to Him for salvation through Jesus Christ His Son (e.g. Colossians 3:12). So if a person does not fall into those categories (i.e. Israel & those born again of God's Spirit), they are not classified as the Elect of God. If a person leads a good life & is generous with his goods to others, this still does not make him acceptable to God, since not one person, bar Christ, was ever good enough to please God ( Romans 3:10, 23).

Now, there's another word similar in meaning to 'election', & that is 'predestination'. These words are almost interchangeable except 'predestination' is used exclusively to born again believers who have been predestined (again, we were appointed before time), to partake in the adoption process. That is, believers might have been elected to be partakers of Kingdom Life, but we have also been appointed to go through the adoption process whereby God, in Love & Mercy, takes someone not in His original family & brings him into His family because of his faith in Jesus Christ. (see Ephesians 1:5, 11). So as a result of our adoption, our predestination into God's Family includes that we don't have Hell as our destiny, but Heaven.

The Bible doesn't speak of any other place where people who die can go to, except Heaven or Hell. Some religions teach falsely of an intermediary place (e.g. purgatory), for a period of further cleansing so as to enter Heaven, but Jesus always taught that there are only two places ( Matthew 18:1-11, for an example of either entering Heaven or Hell). And the decision we make on Earth now determines where our eventual destiny will be. Some mistakenly believe they are on the right way but..for Proverbs 14:12.

U know what i realized? is that Ezekiel 3:1 -3 said" 1 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll[What speaketh the Lord], and go speak unto the house of Israel.

2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.

3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness."

And Proverbs 24:13 is like a prophetic word!

"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." In this simple verse, we see established a rule, or standard, composed of two alternatives.

There is no middle ground. There are two factors, each with its own effect.

The target of this phrase is no specific nation, but its meaning clearly applies to all nations, and that includes Nigeria. Therefore, it is important for us, as Nigerians, to measure ourselves, especially in these challenging times. We should ask ourselves which of these two factors we now embrace, whether righteousness or sin.

Notice in the verse that this is not a past or future condition, but it is a current evaluation of our plight. The verse does not say that our past righteousness will exalt us today or tomorrow, nor does it say that our current sin will one day in the distant future be a reproach. No, the tense is clear that the righteousness of a nation exalts now, and likewise the sin of a nation is a reproach now. And we are not given a middle ground. Each nation is either one or the other, but not both. We can choose our own way or God's, but not both. We can ascend into the mountain of God or stay in the valley, but not both.

And this leaves us with an implied choice that any nation, no matter what era they are birthed, or mythos of origin, or how many bloodstained battlefields for righteous facts, raises or falls by who it is today.

In the mind of a man or a woman, it may seem right to do. But if its not God way it can lead to death. That's why we have to put him first, seek his face study his word praise and worship him. Beacuse without doing this our way will send us to hell. What would we do without the Father the Son and the Holy spirit the triune God.

A piece of the Demons name List. There's one named Mammon. He's got some rank.

It's like Chihuahua barking at a Bigfoot (which is a myth)

    **************************

Lucifuge, Lucifuge Rofocale - (Roman) devil.

Malphas - (Unk) Grand president of the infernal regions. Appears as a crow.

Mammon - (Aramaic) god of wealth & profit.

Mandragoras - (Unk) Familiar demons. They are attributed to the mandrake root and considered gifts from Satan to the sorcerer who conjures them.

Mania - (Etruscan) goddess of Hell.

Mantus - (Etruscan) god of hell.

I found this list by accident a week ago. It's huge. I call out their fruit which is how the Holy Spirit taught me. I don't mean oranges & apples either. They all are unclean.
