Discuss Proverbs 15

    Why do men hate God?

When attempting to bring attention to man's deplorable state of heart Wh( Jeremiah 17:9) I have found in my own self examination that it is best to evaluate all that we consider what Phillipians 4:8 states and then look at our own heart and soul carefully.

When we seek all that men may say is kind; benevolent; compassionate; etc. and try to find pleasure in life apart from God of course we look to other religions and usually end up in a humanistic mentality. We ascribe to others as well who seem to portray such attributes as somehow "enlightened". I can only speak for myself as a man here; but how much of the flesh is appealed to in today's "Christian" music industry? If someone is young; thin and attractive does it move us as much as someone who is a bit overweight and unattractive who performs on stage? Do we favor those in our own social circles or families above others? What are our motives when we serve others?

Such logic of course often results in men not appreciating what God does provide such as a wife mentioned in Proverbs 18:22.

To find the "grass greener on the other side of the field" people think it worthwhile to get a new model and get rid of the spouse that they have been granted by covenant; something Malachi 2:15 says we should not do (also see Proverbs 15:18-20). Interestingly Proverbs 15:8 just before that talks about the sacrifice of the wicked being detestable as contrasted to prayers of the righteous.

Of course many hate God outright; at least being honest about their intentions; accusing God often of being a "killjoy" and sometimes being an admitted Satanist "do as thou wilt" mentality. Of course we have to look at men's obvious evil acts; so we have laws God has set forth to keep order. With all the self professed benefits of "freedom" we see the end result in the fruits of violence and discord in society that many possess or develop as the cultish mentality comes out. Mark 7:21 is the end result.

    Proverbs 15:3

    King James Version

3The eyes of theLordare in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

    Psalm 37:23

    King James Version

23The steps of a good man are ordered by theLord: and he delighteth in his way.

    Psalm 37:4-5

    King James Version

4Delight thyself also in theLord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5Commit thy way unto theLord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

    Psalm 72:14

    King James Version

14He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.

I have faith as currently as a Private Example holding faith that this will come to pass for me believing that this word must be done every second minute hour and day for me. That being a good man towards all will come back to me.

Hello Jordyn, I agree that we should quote your words, and S. Spencer has done not just once but many times. Debating others here is not always the best approach, but being open for correction is always appropriate.

Proverbs 10:17 "Whoever ignores correction leads others astray." NIV

"He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth." KJV

Proverbs 15:32 "He that refuseth instruction despises his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding."

Jordyn, it is not easy for any of us to her the words of one who doesn't follow our own ideas. But it is wise to read or hear them and to check our souls asking the Holy Spirit to show us if the criticism is true of us or not.

I won't speak for S. Spencer here. But I will say that your postings sound very much like those of Earl Bowman who has given the impression of having left this site only to come back 3-4 times with different screen names. So, it would be helpful to us if you will answer this question. Have you been on this forum in the past as Earl Bowman?

Please know that I pray for you and others on this site every day. I will continue to do so because, since God has brought us together on this forum, we ought to care for one another, be willing to pray for each other, be willing to listen to what others say and prayerfully respond, not to contend, challenge, or debate others, but to express ones own belief, stand firm on our own beliefs if need be, and always have a willingness to admit to oneself that we may be wrong in our views and need to eliminate certain aspects of our beliefs to align with Scripture. We should be gracious to one another, not combative, not eager to have a "come back" for what someone else posts to us.

At times, participants on this forum do cross the line and say things they ought not have said. Apologies area always in order and should be warmly accepted. Some times it is best to exit a thread for the sake of peace.

I thought I'd clarify a couple things. I am only aware of one situation where I rebuked someone at least gave exhortation; it was a roommate I had for about 9 months and there were things he admitted himself that he was struggling with-in this case it was in regard to drinking and some offensive language which wasn't befitting him. In my life I have been rebuked; in the case of a Christian counselor it was appreciated as I knew he was working on my anger issues going through my divorce. Another individual was very harsh and I realized later stuff he was going through; but his comment on always trying to say something edifying will be something I'll keep in mind. I made a very hard decision not to attempt to meet up on my trip out of town a while back because of several other times he was very agitated; he still sends me Bible verses nonetheless.

In the case of my counselor; he had me memorize a verse in Psalms very similar to Proverbs 15:1. The Word should be our instruction manual; sadly many are starved for rhe Word of God today ( Amos 8:11). In my own situation I still have scars from the divorce and I certainly can relate to the stages of grief someone goes through in that situation. Compassion is something the Lord has given me and a more tender heart; since it is not a spiritual gift that I tend to excel in.

(Don't forge I mentioned encouragement also). Those who are in need for encouragement aren't going to be those in the limelight the vast majority of the time.

Thanks for your encouragement and responses...

    Rick Paulette,

I believe the LORD is working in your soul. You're feeling the need to ask help for the injuries of others, you're acknowledging you've caused. That's turning you're heart to repentance. That's a good step in the right direction. I referenced the scripture Matthew 25:31-46. However today I felt led to lead you towards salvation. The justification you've given doesn't fix the guilt, nor pain. Deuteronomy 23:18,

The scripture says 1John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." reading in context, please read 1John 1, 1John 2, whole chapters. It starts with acknowledging Jesus came in the flesh, as the Christ, (Messiah, promised redeemer) savior John 3:16-21, speaking to GOD yourself, in prayer. Matthew 6, Matthew 26:41, Luke 18:9-14,

    Luke 19:1-10, Proverbs 16:8, Psalms 37:16, notice Psalms 37 entire chapter. Proverbs 15:16, Luke 17:1,2, James 4, Romans 10:17,

Hopefully you will ask for a better way of life, Paul once named Saul had a mighty calling after Jesus encountered him. Acts 22,

Hopefully these help for new decisions 2Corinthians 5:17

How to determine God's will in life.

There needs to be a trust in God with people in your life; whether saved or unsaved to bring insight based on how well they understand you when it comes to particular career choices. Ultimately an unsaved friend or family member may not be the one to determine when you should step out in faith if they have selfish reasoning or are against proselyting. Whatever decisions we make we should take time first to invest time in a local church Body as Proverbs 15:22 states it is wise to have the "counsel of many". Knowing our weaknesses is probably as important as knowing our strengths; both spiritually and with our natural talents. If we are NOT in a fellowship that is actively exhorting growth by those who are ministering effectively in both leadership and among laypersons who are personally investing in the lives of others and actively pursuing fulfillment of the Great Commission in some capacity then of course difficult to consider any mission opportunities locally or within that denomination. Whether that means you need to go elsewhere is not the main focus of this discussion; but such relationships make it easier to maintain communication when moving to a foreign country or just to another city to maintain accountability partners at least until we are established in a new location. At the very least we should seek out brothers to pray with (or sisters in the case of women) before making any major life changes as I did before moving back with my aging parents.

Marriage; of course should be something which allows not only personal needs to be met; but it should be something that benefits the local Body in Christ in particular. Any relationships that tend to pull either or both party away from regular church attendance and close friendships with believers in general is fated for disaster. Such was the case of my own situation when first married. I am certainly not absolving my own faults; but warning others.

    Hi Verleen innis,

    I will give my understanding,

Your first question; is there anywhere in the heavens or the earth that God cannot be, Psalm 139:7-10 Proverbs 15:3 Jeremiah 23:23-24 Hebrews 4:13 Isaiah 6:3. But is the universe, the earth, and everything on the earth a manifestation of God? NO that is Pantheism and is forbidden in the Bible as idol worship, if everything is God it can be worshiped.

His dwelling place is in heaven that is above heaven (universe) and earth, beyond and outside of the physical universe, 1 Kings 8:30 1 Kings 8:43 2 Chr. 20:6 Psalm 11:4 Daniel 2:28 Matt. 5:16 Matt. 6:9. God gave His only begotten Son to die for us, John 3:16 God by the Holy Spirit can dwell in us if we accept Jesus as our savior we are cleansed by His blood, Romans 8:9-11 1 Cor. 3:16

God can see everything and take action anywhere, Prov. 15:3 Heb. 4:13 but God is everywhere at once? He is in that he is aware of everything in the physical universe both past, present, and future, and he can turn his attention to anyone or anything at any time.

Has anyone seen God? Moses came the closest, God showed him His backside, Exodus 33:12-23. No man in the flesh can see God's face and live, John 1:18 John 4:12 1 Tim. 6:16. We will see His face after the resurrection in our immortal and incorruptible body, Rev 22:4.

How can one Know that God exists? The Bible: He has revealed things to us, and the evidence is convincing if anyone is willing to consider the evidence. History also confirms many things that were prophesied in the Bible long before they happened. The word of God is the truth, and the Holy Spirit will reveal it to those with an open mind and open heart who honestly want the truth.

This is my understanding in love may it help, search and pray for yours.

    God bless,

    RLW

There is much said about the marriage relationship.

Confiding in another can be varied from another seeking opinions: Proverbs 15:22, Proverbs 11:14, which is wisdom, or "confiding in", do you mean adultery? Which is defined as clearly wrong.

Ephesians 5:25 "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church, and gave himself for it:''

If you're suspecting evil pray for wisdom James 1:5,

Hebrews 11:6 - But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Matthew 21:21 - Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

    Proverbs 15:29

"The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous."

Wes gave a wise answer on Christmas. Exodus 23:8, Deuteronomy 16:19, Ecclesiastes 7:7, may The HOLY Spirit teach us. John 14:26

I love to celebrate Christmas, I really enjoy the lights, the focus on our Savior. The generosity in the season. Christmas is a time of year, people remember more their fellow man, needs & wants of others. Christmas time reminds us of the joys of giving & putting smiles on others faces, teaching by love & kindnesses. Surprising a person with anonymous unexpected gifts, giving hope to people in desperation, food, clothing, volunteering, etc. warms their hearts, body & soul & sometimes gives them hope for a better ' tomorrow '. Christmas is the time of year people are more willing to receive from a Christian.....

We as Believers have an open door at Christmas unlike any other time of the year, to show the World who Jesus is, who the Church is.

When we remember those most "forgotten by others" showing them, they are not forgotten by GOD, it's amazing how even those around them are affected.

    Deuteronomy 15:7, Job 5:16, Proverbs 19:4, Psalms 69:33, Proverbs 14:21, 2Corinthians 9:9, Psalms 68:10, Galatians 2:10, Romans 15:26, Psalms 40:17, Proverbs 22:2, Psalms 41:1, Luke 14:13, Psalms 74:21, Proverbs 29:7, Proverbs 28:27, Psalms 112:9, Psalms 82:3, Daniel 4:27, Proverbs 21:13, Proverbs 31:10,20, context Proverbs 31, Proverbs 19:17, Proverbs 19:7, Luke 4:18, Matthew 11:5, Mark 10:21,

    Proverbs 19:6, Esther 9:22, James 1:27,

This Christmas season we really have a moment to help comfort, our nations with love, giving hope through the WORD, to poor in spirit & helping heal wounds. There is much we can give this year, for those in need. I pray GOD lead us even now, to start the giving season early. Romans 6:23, 2Corinthians 1:4, Proverbs 15:23,

    Psalms 31:24, Ecclesiastes 3:1,

    Noah

continued for our sins and sent to hell. Jesus' work of a sinless life, dying in our place on the cross, and resurrection from the death overcame all of the results of sin entering into humanity since the very beginning of time with Adam and Eve. He overcame death, hell, the grave, sin, the devil, and the corruption of sin for us.

Salvation also saves us to having eternal life after we die. It saves us to come to know God in a loving relationship that lasts forever. It saves us to a life filled with grace that empowers us to believe these things about Jesus and in Him and gives us the strength to live a godly life instead of always giving into sin because our human nature is so severely weakened by sin that we were enslaved to sin. Salvation breaks the hold of sin on us and causes us to no longer serve sin in our lives, but to instead love righteousness and what is godly, desiring to live obediently to God out of love and faith in Him. Salvation saves us to be in communion with the Godhead-which is the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirt, through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in each person who believes the Gospel of what Jesus did and Who He is.

The Holy Spirit brings to each believer the grace to believe the Gospel message concerning Jesus, causes one to be born anew in a spiritual way that enlivens the spirit within us that was dead due to sin. The Holy Spirit sanctifies us by cleansing us from sin because Jesus shed His blood to allow us to be cleansed by the Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides us and He helps us overcome temptation to sin. His presence in believers means that God is always with us all the time, never leaving us nor forsaking us.

So, Noah, if you come to believe all of this then know that God has saved you! We do not save ourselves. It is the work of God from start to finish. It is by grace, not by works we do. It is a gift we accept without earning it in any way. We just receive it when we believe the Gospel message of Jesus.

    Hi Noah,

So glad you are desiring to be saved. Please go to the link that Adam posted on his post. That should help you in finding the way of salvation in Jesus Christ.

As humans, we are all sinful, being disobedient towards God. Sin separates us from God who is totally holy and pure. If one desires to be reconciled to God, then their sins need to be removed somehow so that we can have fellowship with God, Who is our Maker and is sovereign over each of us and all things. Humans are unable to remove their own sins nor the sins of others because none of us are free from sin, thus being impure.

But, praise be to God, He has secured our salvation and the removal of our sins through sending the Son of God to us by taking upon Himself humanity while still remaining fully God. Thus the Son, Jesus, lived a perfect life without sinning ever. He came to bear the sins of the world on Himself and be put to death for all of our sins on the cross. In doing this, He brought forgiveness of sins because He paid the just penalty for all of the sins of the world (which was God's wrath upon Him unto death).

After dying, Jesus was put in a tomb and was dead for three days. Then, on the morning of the third day, He arose from the dead, just as He had said He would. His rising from the dead brought justification for all of us so that God the Father would see us as righteous and sinless as Jesus was in His earthly life. We receive His righteousness from Him. This is the only way anyone can be made right with God and have eternal life with Him. This is what salvation is all about, being saved from the just punishment for our own sins, being forgiven of these sins so that we will not longer be held accountable for any of them. Salvation through Jesus Christ saves us from the evil works of the devil and from the hold of death. We will live again after we die and the devil cannot claim us for deserving hell because we are completely forgiven and redeemed (bought back) from being judged

Thessalonians and the gospels but your choice it's all God's Word.
