This is a verse less commonly known relating to Predestination. There are verses in the N.T. on different "vessels" to fulfill God's purposes; at any rate God recieves the glory no matter what (my computer data is compromised so I am not as readily able to give these cross references). This comment brings to mind the concept of "irresistible grace". I prefer the term "effectual calling". We have the verses such as Thessalonians (again you can look up the reference) of those who don't LOVE the truth and believe "the Lie" which essentially means worship of Antichrist and rejection of Christ after the Rapture. There are very few who outwardly blaspheme the Holy Spirit such as the Pharisees who accused Christ of doing things in the power of "Beelzebub" or basically the Devil. This certainly demonstrates that they were aware there is a spirit in Christ; and none of the healings were ever criticized as to their veracity. The case of Spurgeon wo basically stated that we should bend over backwards to keep people from glibly going to their destruction in hell; or Whitfield that despite believing in Election would pray weeping for hours before preaching show that despite such knowledge of the fate of the wicked we should certainly preach fervantly (if anything not knowing who eventually will heed the call). We also need to remember that even with Judas Iscariot who was prophesied and known to Christ despite his selection for him to be a Disciple to be the "son of perdition"; Jesus dipped the sop before the betrayal; signifying that indeed he was betrayed by his friend.

The bigger concern is those who appear to be sheep but are in reality goats. You shall "know them by their fruits" and those who are not His sheep don't seem to struggle with sin; and/or their true desires are clearly with the world. (A "form of godliness but denying the power thereof-we are told to AVOID such people). Cristian media and megachurches like to deny the wrath side of God.

"The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil." Just think. If there was no sin there would be no need for a savior! I believe that only those who respond to the Spirit of God and believe the Gospel and repent will be saved. Link

Hello, thank you for this reply! it really helped me understand some verses. But what about verses such as John 15:16, or Proverbs 16:4 and Romans 9:22-23? these verses seem to say that God predestines us from my understanding.

You don't have to get them laser'd off. Just pray and admit you just didn't know. Repent: turn around and walk in His forgiveness and be restored.

That's a good question. God gives us freewill to use. God has a will, but we don't know what it is so how would we 'stop' His will if we don't even know what it is? His already includes our will though since it's His will to give us freewill. God also has allowed humans to change His mind previously, as indicated in the Bible. So, God is powerful enough to allow Himself to change His mind.

In my opinion He's not micromanaging us and allows things to play out. He of course wants us to choose love and do good, but loves us enough to let us choose. I equate it to a parent forcing a child to say "I love you" vs. the child wanting to say it naturally. One is much more meaningful.

I don't believe the script is already written and don't believe in absolute predestination where we have no choices. Sometimes the assumption of lack of choice is used to justify committing evil. Proverbs 16:9 I believe God can guide us, especially when in prayer and asking for help. But in cases of guiding or directing I don't believe is the same as forcing or that you have no choice in the matter, but maybe more like bowling guiderails so we don't throw a gutter ball?

This is just an opinion and speculation.

Verse 18 shows that we don't want to be cocky and think too much of ourselves because this has led to the downfall of many and it can lead to our ultimate downfall in life.

Rich, you don't pray to the Holy Spirit, but you pray THROUGH the Holy SPIRIT.

When Christ came as sinful flesh and DIED, sinful flesh (YOU) died, and were raise (with CHRIST) a new creation.

We don't know what to pray for, but Christ as the mediator between Father and Son(s) does know. So what ever you pray for is being caused by the LIFE, now in you.

PJ, the blood of Christ covers all sin, but what's the one sin that has separated man for God; not believing what God says.

The shadow is the first children of Israel. They believed that God was God, but they didn't believe what God said.

The same is true today, the second children of Israel (Christ's children) believe God is God, but they don't believe what God says.

They believe that God is the WORD, but they don't believe his words.

I came across this link on the Web site about "race mixing": Link. The Bible does not forbid different ethnic groups to marry. God forbade and forbids the saved to marry the unsaved. Deuteronomy Chapter 7:3-4: "4 For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly."

Other verses included on the page don't even pertain to ethnic groups. They pertain to sexual immorality, heterosexual marriage, an illegitimate person, The Creation, saved people's unity in God, and a saved person's identity in Jesus Christ. You also include Acts 17:26 ("one blood"), which also has nothing to do with so-called separation of so-called races.

Your list twists scriptures to promote the lies told by Whites who that helped to justify chattel slavery, lynching of Black Americans, legalized segregation and prejudice, racism, and ethnic discrimination of Black people and persons of other ethnic groups. It is a great disappointment to see that once again, people are using the Bible to justify the sins of pride and hatred. Which ethnic group or groups are superior to all other ethnic groups? According to Romans 3:23 and Romans 6:23 no ethnic group is superior. This list is against God's holy word and comes from the flesh and Satan. We need to read the Word of God in context and not use God's Word to justify the sins of pride, variance, and hatred ( Galatians 5:19-20 and Proverbs 16:5). 1 John 2:16; 1 Corinthians 7:39.

I was just thinking about how much the Bible has influenced society and culture. Many phrases from movies, songs, people, places, and expressions originate from the Bible. So, I thought I'd list the ones I know of.

Now if the CHURCH is not going to be here when the beast and anti-christ are here, why would God have need of putting that in his word.

I am well aware that the vast majority of Christian believe the very God that tells them they have to love their enemies is going to do the opposite of what he tells his children to do, and send them to HELL. I am in the minority that believes God also loves his enemies.
