Proverbs 18:22 - Whoso findeth a wife finds a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.

Not every person is going to get married. It's not a law. Apostle Paul was never married...

    Connie,

"I am also a truth seeker. I am not one to declare myself wise to say that there is a right way to salvation."

So instead of the "straw people of faith" that you oppose, you see yourself "wise" in having no declaration of how and who God saves. You even quote another writer in the expectation that you are thereby justified. In fact, you have established your own idol/feeling that you take comfort in. Your description of where you stand implys that you have the truth, despite any question put to you about what it is you have. Effectively, you have, sadly, stopped seeking.

So here you are on the KJV website and when other people describe what they see from scripture on the truth of how and who God saves, you don't have to consider those words.

"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." Proverbs 14:12 and Proverbs 18:17 Stated twice in God's word to make it clear that the "right way" is important to God and to everyone who cares to hear what he has written, of course, except you. Blind faith is, blindness.

Connie, Are you saved of God and how has he done this for you? "be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you" 1Peter 3:15

Perhaps a parallel. Colossians 2:8 (KJV) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

The various translations of Prov 18:1 show that the one who separates himself in that context separates himself from sound wisdom, probably because it does not align with his own thinking/understanding. It thus means that in his desire to seek knowledge and understanding, he alienates himself from the crowd so he can weigh or juxtapose other wisdom for his best purpose. Hence, verse 2 calls him a fool who has no delight in understanding of good sense; he only wants to reveal what is in his heart to others.

    1 Timothy Chapter 5, Verses 17 & 18:

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, that is, acknowledge that, especially the ones who labor in the word and doctrine, or teaching. For the scripture says, and there are two pieces of scripture here that Paul uses to back it up.

First of all, Deuteronomy Chapter 25 Verse 4: He says thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treads out the corn.

In 1 Corinthians Chapter 9, Paul says, "You don't think that God was talking about oxen do you?" If you have oxen treading the corn, you got to feed the oxen too, or else he's not going to be around to tread the corn for you.

The second scripture is Luke 10:7. The words of Jesus, The laborer is worthy of his reward, or hire.

So acknowledge those who labor in the word, and in doctrine, and make sure that they're taken care of.

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. ( 1 Timothy 5:17-18)

Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. ( Hebrews 13:7)

But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. ( Hebrews 13:16-17)

Proverbs 18:22 With God's plan, along with family structure and order in society, man and woman, male and female are the prescription to marry. Shacking and living together unmarried is out of order with our Creator. When God created Eve for Adam, she was his help mate; two became one. Therefore, one plus one equals one -- unity. Husband and wife work together in love enjoying one another. It is one of life's beautiful rewards. When spouses live together in love and unity, they have a wonderful, beautiful long life. God favors marriage. He wants couples (both male and female) to be joined in holy matrimony. The key here is the word holy. Wives are to be loved, treasured and cherished by their husbands. The Bible says for men to love their wives and be not bitter against them. Husbands who love God know how to love their wives and truly appreciate them. Women are fragile and often have delicate personalities. But when they are loved, men get 100 per cent of their love, emotions and energy. When both spouses are godly this is a major factor and it really works.

The formula is love the Lord God, love Jesus, and love your spouse. God is love.

Proverbs 18:22: "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD."

There could be other ways of understanding this verse, but taking into account that God alone has created man & woman & that for each other, the ideal plan set by God for us, can only be found in the beauty of holy marriage. The verse implies that the man who finds a wife, should seek one who altogether displays the characteristics of godliness, inner beauty, humility, love & care for her family, & many more traits. He then has the blessing of the Lord upon him & his family's life, as an example of God's intended family structure set by having the Lord God at the head of his family.

Sadly, Satan has had his way with many, & even amongst Christians, where either or both parties do not adhere to God's Word, particularly by not showing understanding, love, forgiveness, seeking reconciliation, etc. to each other, & so that which is holy before the Lord continues in unhappiness & tension & maybe an eventual total breakdown. As well, this verse tells me that the Lord's Favour lies in a loving, man-woman marriage & not in any other way. The Lord cannot delight Himself in a true display of godliness in us, if we wilfully go against His Plan for a true family existence on Earth.

    This is proverbs 18:21

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

I don't know what verse you speak of?

A born again person should know we are not gods. Common sense that anybody is born with, knows they aren't a god. Reprobates do think they are gods.

Jesus has given born again believers, Authority, in His Name only; to help people.

To be saved and born again; or to lay on hands, or cast out devils. He authorizes His followers.

If you hear someone preach something else, they are held accountable to God for every word of error, or idle words, that proceeds OUT of their mouth. He will take care of that.

If it happens in a church, people need to handle it as taught in the Bible. All things must be done in order.

As a believer, you must pray to God, in Jesus Name; and lay out this entire incident. By faith, you must trust it will be dealt with.

We are Jesus's flock and He is the Good Shepherd.

It reminds how I used to interrupt someone and quick at making comments/judgment based on what I know which is usually either hearsays or biased opinion without hearing the other person finish what is being said. Now I realize even after actively hearing and listening to the person speak with empathy, I ask permission first if the other person wants to hear my opinion. I also learned how not to assume anything about what others say or do regardless whether or not I heard the facts of a story because it is almost like passing a judgment and playing God.

If youre interested in what proverbs has to offer in terms of anger management, I am curating a list of the pertinent ones, this is a work in progress so there may be many more, I hope in Jesus name this helps:

Proverbs 14:17 He that issoon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

Proverbs 14:29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Proverbs 15:2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

Proverbs 15:18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

Proverbs 16:32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Proverbs 18:19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Proverbs 19:11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
  • Mishael on Fools - In Reply on Mark 7 - 4 years ago
I think the word you wrote is misspelled.

The Bible has much to say about fools. The word fool today usually means "a senseless fellow, a bad character. The biblical definition has the added dimension of "someone who disregards God's Word."

The Bible lists many characteristics of such a person, often contrasting him with one who is wise. Ecclesiastes 10:2 says, "The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the FOOL to the left."

A fool is one whose wayward heart turns continually toward foolishness. "Fools speak foolishness and make evil plans" ( Isaiah 32:6).

Proverbs 26:11 says, "As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly."

Fools do not learn their lessons from the mistakes they make. They continue doing the same foolish things over and over again, to their own destruction ( Proverbs 18:7).

The following is a partial list of some characteristics of a fool from the BOOK OF

    PROVERBS:

    A fool hates knowledge (1:22)

Takes no pleasure in understanding (18:2)

Enjoys wicked schemes ( Proverbs 10:23)

    Proclaims folly ( Proverbs 12:23)

    Spurns a parent's discipline (15:5)

Speaks perversity (19:1), is quick-tempered (12:16), gets himself in trouble with his proud speech (14:3) mocks at sin (14:9), is deceitful (14:8)

Despises his mother (15:20). A foolish child brings grief to his or her parents (17:25; 19:13)

A foolish man commits sexual immorality (6:32; 7:7-12)

A foolish woman tears down her own house (14:1).

(The worst of all). Psalm 14:1

The fool hath said in his heart, THERE IS NO GOD. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works; there is none that does good.

Hello Tina, I have taken an online course in Theology and got my BA Degree in such so I may also teach the Bible Scriptures to the children and teenagers in my community. I have a 28 year old daughter in another state, whom I use to teach a Bible study with, but God has other plans for as well, as soon as the opportunity comes for me to teach scriptures to others. I believe as you mentioned: "I wish we could remove the false traditions of men that Satan keeps us separate and fearful of one another" that we can stand strong in teaching the Word of God to those who have never had a chance to read the Bible or have never heard God's Word before. I pray that God will give you guidance in fulfilling your duties of spreading the Word of God in any way you can do possibly and help in saving the lives of others in salvation around the world. May God give us wisdom and knowledge to spread the study of the Biblical Scriptures to all areas of the globe as we can..In Jesus name I pray. Amen!

The KJV seems the most well translated where the other translations put a negative connotation on having many friends. If it were a time or place where we were so blessed to be around many Christian hearted people dedicated to loving God above the things of this earth then that time and place of friends to share life in a community, a larger group that works together and supports one another all trying to love one another more than oneself would be like heaven. And surely within a community of friends there are those that grow close filled with admiration for one another and sheer enjoyment of the other persons kindness in your life that you then also would give freely of your life to make theirs better also sharing the companionship of loving God together between families if at that point, serving the community together for God and always just having that one, or two or three people there that rejoice equally in each other's happiness and gifts shared to make life better as seems easy and without much work. Sharing common desire of direction of life to seek he after the Lord th God and follow where God leads is an exciting prospect of the Holy Spirit and promise of the future in Heaven thst one day we won't just have one we are lucky to have here on earth but that we look forward to many understanding we are truly family under God as his children and meant to enjoy living, life serving all under God. I wish we truly could remove the false traditions of men that Satan planted to keep us separated and fearful of one another. Not to mention thousands of lies about the truth of God so easy to read to a good bible and good teacher until we become also teachers. I've finally reached a level of wisdom and experience that teaching & continued learning makes my spirit jump for joy and excitement to serve now in this end times for God, our Father. I pray we seek one another in friendship for this time now as God commanded likely for strength, blessing and peace of mind

Proverbs 18:21 relates to James 3:16 as it describes the tongue as fire. It either brings healing or destruction. Its the smallest part of the body but can be reckless if its not controlled by the unction of the holyspirit. The fruit of your lips should honor and bless the lord at all times and his praise shall continually be in your mouth...!
