VERSE 1---NOT SURE IF I READ THIS CORRECTLY: THROUGH DESIRE--AS IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN-TEMPTATION?? HAVING SEPARATED HIMSELF--DOES THIS MEAN SEPARTING HIMSELF FROM GOD??? SEEKETH AND INTERMEDLETH WITH ALL WISDOM--DOES THIS MEAN HAVING KNOWLEGE OF GOOD AND EVIL?
This verse states that it's good to be married. Today's emphasis on individual freedom is misguided. Strong individuals are important but strong marriages are too. God created marriage for our enjoyment, and he pronounced it good. So marriage is a good and enjoyable creation of Gods. Check out Gen. 2:21-25, Prov. 5:15-19 and John 2:1-11... so much more knowledge.
Words are spirit and have powers. So you were created to have dominion by your words. Thus, for a prophetic word, You will eat from the fruit of your lips. You can perceive with your heart and speak with your mouth. It is important for us individual to be swift to hear and slow to speak.
If a man having Earthly friends must show himself friendly to maintain loving relationships; How much more rewarding is it if you show yourself friendly to Jesus in daily fervent and effectual prayer? He is the friend who sticketh closer than a brother; this means He knows you better than your closest relative; and you can show yourself friendly to him by spending time with him in prayer. A little talk with Jesus makes it right. All right!
The name is greater than every other names you could ever think of, you can go anywhere you wish, you can turn around the whole world with the name JESUS and be SAFE.
God saw that everything he had done was good. There were peace beauty and harmony! This is what the good God speaks of, so a good wife must or should represent grace for her husband, an undeserved favour. Does she/he love Jesus truly? Does she/he brings peace for you? If yes then you can marry.
@Talisha,
God is the one who finds the wife. As for who meets who, it is through the providence of God that this happens. Study the book of Ruth, and you will see how Boaz found Ruth, and she was a virtuous woman, who feared God, and helped her mother in law, though she was a widow, it was God who put them together. Boaz is the Kinsman redeemer, and this speaks of the Lord Jesus Christ who redeems His bride the Church for the marriage supper of the Lamb. So wait on the Lord, and He will do what He promises.
Can someone explain this verse to me? What is God's intention for this verse? My mom takes this verse and runs with it. Every time I meet a guy she wants to know who approached who.
@Lori Wilson,
To “be unequally yoked together with unbelievers” does not limit to marriage relationship; in fact it’s a misinterpretation of this scripture. It simply means don’t walk in the way of the wicked ones, because the wicked ones feel comfortable with those ways, while we as believers will very very uncomfortable with such ways. Believers will unprotected and unsafe walking in those ways, while unbelievers may walk in them out of duty ( Isaiah 29:20). So that is the unbalance the apostle Paul is speaking of.
As to marrying a person who is from another religion, I believe the key is love and how you agree to live as a married couple. You may succeed to convert your spouse to Christianity, likewise your spouse may convert you to his/her religion. So, all depends on how strong and spiritual you are. And as believer, I understand you don’t engage in a relationship by chance, but you seek first God’s direction and guidance ( Proverbs 18:22). Please remember that some of the unbelievers are Christians, but as the devil has blinded their minds, they just chose to walk in darkness, of those too, the Apostle Paul says we must “turn away” ( 2 Timothy 3:5).
God bless you.
No work, no eat! JESUS said that we would have to work, and by our sweat and work we would eat...SLOTHFULNESS breeds addictions, and I believe that charitable services ie disability checks can be seriously taken for granted.

He that finds a wife, finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord. I thank God, that He picked my wife for me, and provided me just the type of wife that I needed. A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband's head. Just as God said it is not good for man to be alone, so He made a helpmeet for Adam. Therefore, shall a man leave father, and mother then shall he cleave unto his wife. Before you can cleave to your wife, you must leave father, and mother. This has been a struggle for many couples today. A cord of three shall not be broken. God first, your wife, and then your family. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He will provide that wife that you need. Thank God for His favor, and it is good to both hope, and wait on the Lord.
1Samuel 19 shows vividly the law of partnership:
David partnership with Jonathan Enables Him to Endure.
No leader succeeds on his own- not even a great leader whom God called "a man after My own heart" ( Acts 13:22), and "the apple of [My] eye" ( Psalm 17:8). Even David needed his Jonathan.
In the dark days when he scrambled from cave to cave to escape the murderous threats of King Saul, David turned to his friend, Jonathan, for strength and encouragement. At great risk to himself, Jonathan warned David and told him to hide out for a time ( 1 Sam. 19:2).
Jonathan, hoping to pacify his father and reconcile the king to his friend, spoke well of David. And for a short while Saul relented, promising that David would not die by his hand.
Soon the old animosities reaserted themselves, however, and Jonathan once again risked his life to help his dear friend (20:30-33). Even though he knew that God had chosen David-and not him-to rule Israel, Jonathan remained faithful to his comrade until the very end of his life. One verse in particular describes Jonathan's invaluable ministry to David: "Then Jonathan, Saul's son, arose and went to David in the woods and srengthened his hand in God" (23:16).
Do you have someone who "strengthens your hand in God"? All leaders need loyal friends who can help them to persevere through the tough times.
The book of Proverbs 18:10 says; The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. KJV
EDIFY ,ENCOURAGE,and WARN OF HAZARDS APPROACHING, BUT MOST OF ALL .....PRAISE JESUS WITH THE TONGUE,FROM A REPENTIVE HEART.....JESUS LOVES US VERY MUCH ....
HIS NAME is JESUS!when i was being robbed not long ago,four men were beating on me,trying to take my stuff(,,backpack,wallet bicycle etc.)unexpectedly the name of JESUS CAME out of my mouth.the men ran,without getting anything except educated.there is power in JESUSsNAME!it was an automatic reaction is what i ponder on.i guess what is down in the well comes up in the bucket....JESUS JESUS JESUS.
Ch18 reveals the deep things of God and the key transference of His wisdom to usward. In vs 1 it starts with desire and a stubborn pursuit of it. The word "intermeddleth" means obstinate, fixed, an unyielding course. It is stubborn in a good way. And vs. 2 fools have no desire for this pursuit. The key unfolds in vs4- "The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters -- There is only 2 things in life that is deep; God is deep and you and i are also deep. For deep refers to eternal! You and i are eternal and God is eternal; heaven and earth shall pass away but God;s word abideth forever. In Ps.42;7 - deep calleth unto deep!! God is calling us to desire Him, the only source of wisdom and life eternal. Therefore the noteable key is found in vs4 "The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters " -- When Jesus was at the well in Jo.4 with the woman; she said the well is deep and He replied if you knew who it was you were talking with he would give you water that you would never thirst again. And then she "SAID WITH HER MOUTH", sir give me this water. Thus we see the key is our spoken words that draw the water of life from the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook into our hearts, by His grace and faith. All tru Proverbs we see our words,lips, tongue are key to wisdom being attained. We see in vs. 6&7 that a fools lips and words are a snare to their soul. It cuts both ways ; "by our words we will be either justified or condemned."Mt.12;37 -- The wisdom key is clearly amplified in vs.20 & 21 --A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
PROVERBS CHAPTER 18: THE NAME OF THE LORD IS POWERFUL THE RIGHTEOUS WILL RECEIVE IT AND IS SAFE. A MAN BELLY IS SATISFIED WITH FRUIT AND CHEWING MORE HE WILL BE FILLED. WORDS CAN HELP OR HARM YOU AND IF YOU LOVE THE WORD, YOU,LL CONTINUE TO READ THE WORD. FINDING A WIFE IS GREAT AND GOD WILL GIVE YOU FAVOR FOR IT.
conceit in this verse is a hebrew word for imagination. we are to let God be our fortress and streangth, not any man made thing. Many people think because they have things they are above all else but not to God who judges the heart and not what we have
