Discuss Proverbs 26

    Addendum to Prosperity Teacher postings.

As stated in some comments some months ago; we should still be able to trust God in regard to His Word; and that indeed He can and will prosper people financially. In this world we should adhere to 1 Timothy 6:17

    Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

Some are born into riches; others earn it through hard work and God's Providence of resulting financial success. Money is uncertain and we can't put our trust in things that "moth and rust" corrupt ( Matt. 6:19).

Certainly it isn't Pastors who should be cornering the market or seeking "filthy lucre" ( Titus 1:11 AND 1 Peter 5:2). The best they can hope for is making it into heaven as through the fire; but there is probably a much better chance they aren't saved at all. Only God knows but why make that lifestyle your legacy?

What we see today is more of these so called "Apostles" dying; while others making half hearted "repentance" statements then continuing on with the sin of covetousness; much like the parable of a dog returning to its own vomit ( Proverbs 26:11). We certainly bring nothing into this world and we aren't taking anything out ( 1 Timothy 6:7). What we can do is gain heavenly treasure by harvesting souls ( Matt. 6:19).

He who covers or conceals his sin is not doing themselves any favors. ( Proverbs 28:13). It actually says the man will not prosper. There are enough warnings in scripture including to the Pharisees as to the spiritual ramifications of continuing in such behaviors and many others in the Old Testament as well.

Ultimately; the desire for fame and popularity is tied into those with this narcissistic mindset and lifestyle. All will be lost after this life; which is as a vapor has passed. Let us live lives in strict obedience and holiness not due to compulsion but love and gratitude for what Christ did for us.

May 2, 2023 I Sterling Campbell started a 40 day fast of no food, only water and Spiritual food from Gods Word.

The reason for staring this fast is this; I have been struggling with the sin of lust since I was 8 years old. I asked Jesus Christ into my heart when I was 12 and was baptized. At 17, still struggling with lust, but trying to serve God, I got insnared with the deadly sin of pornography witch coincides with lust. Now at the age of 34 I still struggle in this area. I have tried every way humanly possible to break free from this sin. I have asked for help from God, my friends, my family, a paster that put covalent eyes on my devises but all to no avail. I feel like I'm a lunatic and sore vexed. I looked up the definition for lunatic and it is someone that is a fool. Proverbs 26:11 As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. I also saw that being a lunatic is one that is epileptic. Epilepsy causes seizures. To witch I have had 2, but it also causes depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and behaviors, fear, uncontrollable jerking of the arms and legs, temporary confusion, all of what I have had. But do I think this is a disorder? No! I think this is a sin issue. I think the symptoms are from the this sin that is killing me. Puritan pastor John Owen said; "be killing sin or sin will be killing you" In Matthew 17: 15-21 Jesus cures a child that is thought to be a lunatic but is possessed with a devil, and heals him by casting out the devil. And says Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. I am a man that is oppressed by the devil and keeps getting tempted by the devil to give into my own lusts and sin. I have fallen many times and I don't want to fall again. So this is why I am willing to fallow my Lord's example in Luke 4:1-13 I have tried my way and fell, now I will do it Gods way. I will fast for 40 days and pray that God heals me from this.

Can you pray for me that I may stay true to the end?

    Dgjot,

I'm taking the word "cursed" directly from the Bible not other witchcraft things of this world because GOD said no undue curse shall stand. Proverbs 26:2, That stuff has no power over Believers that stay in GOD's ways.

Malachi 2:2, Deuteronomy 28, Leviticus 18:8, Leviticus 20:11, the laws GOD had given Moses included the things forbidden that he was actually asking for Solomon to give permission. Being the king, guilt would have cursed as Deuteronomy 28:15-68, promises. Israel agreed to that, in Deuteronomy 27,

    Look also at Ezekiel 21,

    Hi Jennifer,

I long for you to prosper in Jesus. If you feel there are curses on your life, it's good for us to figure out why, or if that is the case.

    Proverbs 26:2 says:

As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

Curses do not come up on people for no reason. Are you born again and washed in the blood of Jesus Christ? When we are truly born again, we are blessed in Jesus, not cursed. He breaks our chains, and helps us to live out the new life that He plants inside of us! Praise Him forever!

Even as Christians, we can do foolish things that open the door to the enemy; have you opened any door to sin or involvement with others who are in sin?

If you are saved and have no unrepented sin - what makes you think you're 'cursed'. Some people think they are 'cursed' because bad things happen to them. We live in a very fallen, sinful world, and on this side of heaven, Christians are NOT exempt from any problems that are commonly experienced in this life, Jennifer. We can experience sickness, financial trouble, family trouble, social trouble, job trouble,...just to name a few! This doesn't mean we are cursed. These things pertain to human life, but the Lord will help us either out of those troubles, OR...He will work on us THROUGH those troubles. :) We are not to think it strange, the apostle said, when fiery trials come upon us! This is for the trying of our faith and for the increase of our graces.

I will remember to pray for you, that you are totally set free, and that you are encouraged to walk out your salvation in Christ...or, if you're not saved, to believe the gospel, and believe on Jesus and surrender all to Him! Amen!

    Blessings, Jennifer!

Tom, The word of God is a parable. The Spirit of Christ wrote the Bible.

Revelation 19:10 .... for the testimony (the words) of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Matthew 13:34 All these things spake Jesus to the multitudes in parables, and without a parable spake he not into them.

Numbers 23:7 And he took up this PARABLE ....

Numbers 23:18 And he took up this PARABLE .....

Numbers 24:20-21 ...and he took up his parable ....

Job 27:1 Moreover Job continued his parable ...

Job 29: Moreover Job continued his parable ...

Psalms 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable ....

    Ezekiel 17:2 ... and speak a parable ...

    Ezekiel 24:3 ..... utter a parable .....

    Micah 2:4 ..... take up a parable .....

Habakkuk 2:6 Shall not all take up a parable against him .....

Know this is what happens when you don't BELIEVE GOD when he says he speaks in parables.

Proverbs 26:7 The legs of the lame are not equal, SO IS A PARABLE IN THE MOUTH OF FOOLS.

Heaven is a parable of the place GOD LIVES.

Colossians 1:27 ...this mystery .....CHRIST IN YOU .....GOD LIVES IN MAN

The angle of the Lord is a ministering Spirit (the Holy Ghost) the angle of the Lord is GOD, therefore that ministering Spirit (the Holy Ghost) is planting his SEED (inpregenating) man with TRUTH AND LIFE; creating man in the IMAGE OF GOD.

YES, ANGLES (MEN, that has left this body of flesh, and BECOME ministering spirits being BORN AGAIN (FATHER by the HOLY GHOST) and ONE WITH CHRIST are inpregenating creation with the SEED OF GOD.

    God Bless You!

This is a bit weird , in most languages an ass is a type of donkey , only in North America is it something else . In my Bible the word pisseth occurs a few times . We take turns in our Bible class , to read out verses from the chapter we are studying . So there are a few words that we have to read out that might make someone blush , but not us . We are all adults .

Curious as to who "you" is. In this forum, KJV bible, it uses the word "ass." To whom is your comment directed?

I understand your point of adding to or taking away from.

Hope that you have a blessed day today!

When you bleep out words in the Bible like, ass, you make it seem like God was swearing. People can look it up in the dictionary if they don't know what an ass is. Why make the world think God was using bad language and YOU corrected Him? You are taking words out of the Bible and woe unto you!

I ask you to pray & I will also pray for you, for protection & clarity & discernment in these matters.

I had a friend years ago that had said 'her mother would say something to people she didn't like about fire to cause them fear' a while after that me & that dearly loved friend had a deep discussion about a medical targeted abortion. I pleaded with her not to be afraid but trust GOD, I had told her how so many things that were wonderful about her that would be in that child. She had already had the abortion. Sometime around that she would say "she had dreams about me & house fires, dangerous & was concerned for my family " after saying that to me multiple times, then no longer speaking to me. It literally bothered me over the years, causing unwelcome concerns. Then I would remember what she previously disclosed & GOD's power & protection. Matthew 5:44,

Peoples words spoken over someone can be curses or blessings but GOD says Edify one another & not to curse. Here are some scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 5:8-11, Romans 14:19, warning, Psalms 62:4, Psalms 109:28,

Remember the promises spoken over us by GOD. : Genesis 12:3, Numbers 22:12, Deuteronomy 11, Nehemiah 13:12, Proverbs 3:33,

    Proverbs 26:2,

Hopefully this helps remember: John 16:13,
  • ABADDON and APOLLYON__Revelation 9 - In Reply on Revelation 9 - 2 years ago
    Abaddon

In the Book of Revelation ( 9:1-11 ), when John sees his vision of the fifth trumpet blowing, a vast horde of demonic horsemen is seen arising from the newly opened abyss. They are sent forth to torment the unfortunate inhabitants of earth, but not to kill them. They have a ruler over them, called a king (basileia [basileiva]), the angel of the abyss, whose name is given in both Hebrew and Greek. In Hebrew it is Abaddon and in Greek Apollyon, both words meaning Destroyer or Destruction.

The word only occurs once in the New Testament ( Rev 9:11 ) and five times in the Old Testament ( Job 26:6 ; 28:22 ; 31:12 ; Psalm 88:11 ; Prov 15:11 ). In Psalm 88:11 Destruction is parallel to the grave; in Job 26:6 and Proverbs 26:6 it is parallel to Sheol; in Job 28:22 it is parallel to Death. job 31:12 says sin is a fire that burns to destruction. So in the Old Testament Abaddon means the place of utter ruin, death, desolation, or destruction.

The angel of the abyss is called Destruction or Destroyer because his task is to oversee the devastation of the inhabitants of the earth, although it is curious that his minions are allowed only to torture and not to kill. His identity is a matter of dispute. Some make him Satan himself, while others take him to be only one of Satan's many evil subordinates.

    Jonijo,

Peter is dealing with false teachers in the church. 1 Peter was written to warn believers about the threat from outside the church, from the world. Peter wrote his second letter to warn the church about the threat within, false teaching, and the false teachers.

1 Peter 2:20-21 speaks about the position of the captives, the ones who fell captive to the false teachers. We see their condition in verse 20. It starts out by saying, "For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world, and please notice this: through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

They have responded to the truth, the facts about Jesus. And they've come and said yes, this is true. And they are again entangled therein, and they are overcome. And the concept is: the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

And then verse 21 says, "For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

Notice that the emphasis is on what they know! They haven't surrendered their life to Christ. These are not saved people. They received the knowledge of the truth, but then they came into the church and latched onto false teachers that taught them how to go out into the world, and get sin "In the name of Jesus."

Then we have the portrayal of the captives in 2 Peter 2:22. It says, "But it is happened unto them (These are the people in verses 20-21), which is a fulfillment of prophecy ( Proverbs 26:11), but it has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow, that is, the pig that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

There has to be a transformation and a change, because a pig will always go back. You can wash it clean and you know what's going to happen? It's going to dive right back into that mud hole again! Cleaning people up on the outside is not anyone's commission. It's bringing them to Christ!

    Proverbs Chapter 6

16 These six things doth the LORD HATE: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Proverbs 8:13 - The fear of the LORD is to HATE evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Proverbs 11:2 - When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

Proverbs 16:5 - Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

    Hello again Lex,

2 Peter 2:20: For if they have escaped the pollutions of the world, and please notice this: (Through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ). They have responded to the truth, the facts about Jesus. And they've come and said yes, this is true. And they are entangled therein, and they are overcome. The concept is: the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. (Read the Parable of the Sower to see what category the "they" in verse 20 represent.

2 Peter 2:21: Notice the emphasis is on what they know. They haven't surrendered their life to Christ. But these false teachers came into the church and they latched onto false teachers that taught them how to go out into the world and get sin "In the name of Jesus." The last state is worse than the first.

2 Peter 2:22: But it happened unto them (A fulfilment of Proverbs 26:11). But it has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow, that is, the pig that is washed to the wallowing in the mire.

You can wash a pig all day long but it will always return to the mud. It's the same with people. They can be clean on the outside, but filthy on the inside. There has to be transformation and change. Cleaning people on the outside does no good. A person has to be cleansed from within.

The "them" in verse 22 are the same ones being spoken of in verse 20. These are not saved people walking away. Please read those three verses and think about it. Again, the Parable of the Sower would help in understanding who these three verses are speaking of.

I go over Galatians 5:4 in another post.

once a person does they can and will become a part of it.

The d/f knows this and alot of beleiver's don't. It all comes from that source

Then theres a foolish folly that can be addressed for the sake of righteousness

Dear Rick, Why would God have to wait longer, past seeing His Son carry the sins of man by His flesh to the Cross? Surely he can reign now by His believers that do not glory in themselves, but in the Cross.

  • Richard in Christ on Proverbs 26:4 - 3 years ago
First I will post about someone saying "God doesn't have hands". We all Know God is Spirit. For someone to say He doesn't have hands is absurd. God can have, and be, anything He wants. Here is some Scriptures to consider for the one who stated this:

In Genesis 3:8 the Lord was "walking" in the garden of Eden. In Exodus 33:20 He said no man shall see my "face" and live. Exudus 33:23 speaks of His "hand" and "back parts". The vision of Daniel 7:9 seeing the Ancient of Days(God) "sitting" on His throne wearing a "garment" and having "hair". Many other details in Revelation of one who "sat" upon the throne.

Did God not make us in His image?

Just because we in this physical body cannot see the spirit realm, unless God chooses to send someone a revelation or vision etc, does not mean it is not there.

    God Bless.

Thanks Ron. It's always a good thing to get an understanding, and to give understanding in all things. It helps us to see each other in the same way GOD sees us. As written, "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and in all your getting get understanding". Lastly, a wise man will hear and increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels". GOD Bless!

Romans 12:1-6 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

    Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

Romans 12:9-15 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

    Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

    Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

    Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

Carleton's daydream written two days ago but not posted because it seemed to early:

My daydream: I wonder if the tribulation(s) were considered as now and in the past, how many more people would be more serious in living their Christian lives in carefulness as witnesses of the Truth. I wonder while time remains how much more and beautiful and peaceful the Kingdom of God on/in earth would be. I wonder if Christians might be less nationalistic and more pilgrim and stranger like. I wonder if there would be less suing and hating and more love and mercy. I wonder if voting outside of the Church would be unnecessary. I wonder how much more the Church would be able to prove it's members in ways that the New Testament instructs. I wonder if Christian fellowship would bond believers in deeper long lasting ways where separation hurts. I wonder if then, the Christian would be a peculiar people as defenseless lambs and a great drawing to all unbelieving people. I wonder how clearly the Lord Jesus's message to come would be seen and heard and read in the lives of believing people.

It is interesting to me that Jesus required the disciples to give up 'all" and go out in twos actually homeless as He did.

The birds have nests and the foxes holes yet the son of Man hath not a place to lay His head. Did Jesus "not" set the example of true ministry? Apparently Jesus and the disciples were invited into the homes of believers to eat and sleep so they did not have any other responsibilities to deal with. How simple..... down to earth.... It appears, to me, that the simplicity stopped there. They appeared to be busy almost continually with preaching the gospel to anyone who would listen and Paul seemed willing to give his testimony whenever there was an opportunity --------- even when they were trying to kill him when the soldiers rescued him and while on the steps he asked to give his testimony to those who wanted to kill him..... It was like he would make that sacrifice just for "one" person. Like God will move a mountain for just one person who is seeking for that wonderful "unction" available from the Holy One.

It appears, to me that many in this world have expressed a love for Jesus but want to change the ministry and even what Jesus looked like even though it states that the Godhead aught not to be thought of as graven from art and man's device.

Jesus couldn't have had long hair. In 1Cor it says "Doesn't even nature teach that is a shame for a man to have long hair. Jesus was a Nazarene and only Nazarites could make a vow and not cut any hair for 30 days up to 100 days. Then they had to shave it all off when the time was up. Anyone could choose to be a Nazarite --- try to be totally perfect during that period of time. If they failed to keep their vow they had to shave it off and start all over again. Just some interesting food for thoght.

    God Bless all.......

I used to have the same problem as President Trump. If someone hauled off and smacked me verbally; I sent one back over.

I finally arrived at the point of deep disgust with my deep infirmity. I was never so happy as when I got "tested" on resolve, and passed without even a ripple. Happiest day of my life; I added to the other happy days.
