Today is my birthday and this Psalm gives me the right perspective in which to praise God and meditate on His Word. The Psalm reminds me of how faithful God has been to me since I was born becuase to some degree, I have experienced some of the travails mentioned in the Psalm.

And even though each year brings me nearer to the end of my sojourn on this side of eternity if Jesus tarries, I am comforted that my p***ing will be precious in His sight.

In this verse, "Please deliver my soul'" is translated in another version, "Please, Lord, save me!" This thought continues, "He has saved me from death. ..." This speaks of Jesus, and his advent on earth as our Savior. And since these two events are parallel, it means that Jesus is the "Lord" spoken of in Ps. 116, and thus, the God of the Old testament.

Not many people know this, but it is true. It also means that we must change our theology and stop looking at Jesus as a lesser figure than God, but God himself.

Knowing that Jesus is the OT God adds meaning to our worship. Because it was Emmanuel, God with us, who has come to save us.

As the Christmas song says, "O come, O come, Emmanuel, And ransome captive Israel, that mourns in lonely exile here, until the Son of God appear."

The term "Son of God" is a reference to God's appearance on earth as a human being. He would be called God's Son, and known to us this way, and at the same time still be God.

    What a wonderful revelation!

Precious in the sight of Jehovah, is the death of His saints. When the Lord called my father home to glory, from labor to reward, I thought of this verse. My father had been a Pastor for 27yrs, and a minister for 62yrs. He had been preparing us that the Lord was about to call him home. He told me it is appointed unto us to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and also to suffer for Him. As Paul said I have fought a good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the Faith. What a testimony to give when facing death. God makes all things beautiful in His time. When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be; when we all see Jesus we will sing, and shout the victory!!!

I felt in my spirit to read this Psalm tonight after all day to day discussing the death of my five year old child with my husband. I found comfort in this verse because I begin to read other comments and it came to life to me as to why God call his saints home at any given time. I must say that it is the Lord that decides when we die and we must trust his decisions concerning his perfect will. I am so glad that I read this tonight it really gave me my answer to why a child so young had to die so early. May you rest in God’s hand Joshua Isaiah Richardson.

I think this verse means that God is pleased when a Holy Spirit filled believer departs from this earthly life and steps into His presence. This is only possible because God sees a good and faithful servant. He knows that this believer was totally committed to serving God faithfully and obediently in spirit and truth.

I understand that through/right through this idol (works of man’s hands) world today, God made a way for his word to get to his people, using a strong portion of the great ( Isaiah 53:12). Jesus Christ himself, the eternal godhead and the gift of salvation to all mankind... we give God the father all the glory through God the son, as we honour (respect) the son even as we honour the father ( John 5:23). This is a commandment we get from God the father through God the son... be not afraid, nor frightened! Though many will cause you to fear or stumble in/on the word of God by fear, but be you strong, for your God will save you, maybe even through death! God knows where life will take us to, God is the creator of it! Even God that is not satisfied with the death of his followers, believers, or saints ( Psalms 116:15, Psalms 72:14). Father God and Jesus Christ, help us not to be afraid of the world, protect those that trust, believe, and depend on you! Preserve us in your son Jesus Christ! Thank you father God for your truth and your righteousness, and your words that will save our lives, as the world is against us and deceives us from the truth! Lord God, Jesus that you also for the knowledge of your word and for every body part you cause to move daily for your own sake, and for the sake of your souls being edified by your words and not the words of the world. Father God, Jesus Christ our redeemer and our healer, our truths and our righteousness, our peace and our God and our king, though you desire truth in the inward parts, help us to do your righteousness that leads to your kingdom and glory now and forever by the power of Jesus Christ. Amen.

I love this verse b/c I recently lost a loved one and I know only the Lord could help me to deal w/my grief. I had to really break down this verse and get everything I could out of it. I figured that God considers it as of significance; that his Saints death is united with his vast preparation and that there are great intentions when carrying out death of a good man.
