The only degrees of which we read in the Bible are "THE Degrees" (steps) on the sundial of Ahaz by which the shadow of the sun went backwards in the days of his son Hezekiah, as a sign from Jehovah that he should recover from his sickness while Jerusalem was surrounded by the armies of the King of Assyria, and Hezekiah was under the sentence of death from the King of Terrors

On his recovery from his sickness, Hezekiah said ( Isa. 38:20) The LORD was gracious to save me: therefore we will sing my

songs [of the Degrees ] to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.

    2 Kings 20

    Isaiah 38

    Chris,

That makes sense since Jerusalem, especially the Temple, was built on a hill, a southern extension of a mountain.

Hi Jennifer. The superscription of 'Song of Degrees' is found in Psalms 120-134, and translated from the Hebrew, it is 'a Song of Ascents'. There are various interpretations given to this phrase, but it seems most likely that these were specific Psalms (or, Pilgrim songs) that were sung by Israel as they traveled to Jerusalem to attend their feasts. The meaning may have coincided with the steps, or paces, they took in their walk or climb towards Jerusalem. Why these particular Psalms & not others were sung, I cannot explain.

Did you mean, Psalms 119:49-72 ?

Psalms 118, stops at verse 29,

It's believed king David wrote, Psalms 119, then:

Psalms 119:49 + 1Kings 9:5, Jeremiah 33:17, 1Kings 2:45, Psalms 132:11, Isaiah 16:5, Luke 1:32, David's throne to have an heir to reign forever, Jesus being that son of David.

    2Samuel 12:13

    Psalms 119:67,71, 2Samuel 12:14, 2Samuel 12:9-12,

    Hopefully these are helpful

Phil Matthew 22 : 42 ....Jesus asked the Pharisees what think ye of Christ whos son is he, They replied Davids son ,Then Jesus answered them saying if David calls him LORD in the SPIRIT...how can Jesus be his son...Jesus is telling them if DAVID calls him LORD CAN HOW CAN HE BE IN SON...His bloodline etc...How can Jesus be of the tribe of Judah if he were Davids LORD...And they asked him no more questions after that encounter.

.....Phil but in Romans 1 : 3 and several other places it says our lord is of the seed of David according to the flesh...So the bible tells us he was of the tribe of Judah according to the flesh.

.....But our lord tells us he was NOT of the tribe of Judah ACCORING TO THE SPIRIT...in MATTHEW 22 : 42 As David in the Spirit calls him LORD.

....Even Hebrews said our LORD sprang outta Judah.... Hebrews 7 : 14 kjv...( according to the FLESH ) Mary

.....And Psalms 132: 11 One of your own descendents will i place on your throne forever...Which is Christ that came out of MARY of the tribe of JUDAH....Thats the connection to the tribe of Judah is MARY Davids Descendent.

.....But he cd not come out of the tribe of Judah according to the Spirit simply b/c the tribe of Judah as all the tribes carried the stain and the spot of Adam....As the lamb of God cd not have any such a spot.... Isaiah 53

1st, because this scripture has put an emotion in you. I assume GOD is working on something within you, possibly to show you truth or study deeper.

2nd, pray for wisdom also James 1:5, in what GOD wants to reveal to you, deeper than I may show you.

3rd, to me I understand this Psalms 11, & Psalms 11:3, appears to be written by David, it seems to point to when he was being pursued by Saul into the mountains. Please read 1Samuel 19:10, 1Samuel 18:29, 1Samuel 23:26, could David be referring to the foundation being destroyed referring to himself? 1Kings 9:5, Jeremiah 33:17, Psalms 132:11, being the promise of GOD to establish HIS throne through David?

    4th, because the temple wasn't made yet, 1Chronicles 28:3-21, Psalms 127:1,

5th, however David's Psalms were also prophetic like Psalms 22,

6th, Jesus being in the lineage of David: Matthew 22:42, Acts 13:22, Matthew 1:1,

    7th, other scripture: Isaiah 28:16, 1Corinthians 3:11-17,

    Hopefully this is helpful

I believe it was to clearly point out the fulfillment of Prophecy. Please see:

    Son of David prophecy : 1Kings 9:5, Jeremiah 33:17, 2Chronicles 7:18, Psalms 132:11,

The coming promise of deliverance : Jeremiah 23:5, Jeremiah 33:15, proclaimed: Matthew 22:24,43,44,45, Matthew 1:1,

Luke 18:38, some identified JESUS as by different names for significance to themselves, healer, deliverer

    Son of GOD : Genesis 6:2,4, Daniel 3:25, Matthew 8:29, Matthew 14:33, Matthew 27:54, Mark 1:1, Luke 1:35, Romans 8:14, Matthew 11:27,

    Son of Man : prophecy : Daniel 7:13-14, Revelation 1, Genesis 3:15, Ezekiel 30:1-4, Job 25:4-6, Job 35:8-16, Matthew 24:30, proclaimed : Mark 14:21, John 12, Matthew 11:19,

Additionally he was called the BRANCH : Job 14:7, Psalms 80:15, Isaiah 11:1, Isaiah 14:19, Jeremiah 23:5, Zechariah 3:8, Zechariah 6:12, proclamed: John 15,

Also "shall be called Nazarene " Matthew 2:23,

    Hopefully this is helpful

To keep the covenant and testimony in verse 12;is to remain faithful to the laws of the God of Israel and continue to reap the blessings of being His chosen people who were saved out of Egypt and to be given the Promised Land. Of course; no one can do this apart from the power of the Holy Spirit. Anyone, according to James 2:10 he who has broken one law has broken them all; and scripture also indicates that he who sets aside the least of these commandments will be least in the Kingdom of Heaven. ( Matthew 5:19). There are results therefore; to omission of teaching unpopular things; as well as commission of things forbidden. In either case; we cannot ignore what Christ taught for if we love Him; we will obey Him. ( 1 John 2:3).

When we know the lawgiver; grace sets us free. We have an indication of the literal and spiritual descendants ruling and reigning in Zion; whether on earth during the Millennium; or when the heavenly city comes to earth afterwards and all are in eternal bodies. The Old Testament saints such as David will rule and reign; and certainly the Apostles as well; as this group likely constitutes the 24 elders in Revelation 4:10. The Lord will surely restore the earth in fullness when He returns as v. 15 states. He who is trusted in earthly things can be assured authority over heavenly ( Luke 16:11); this and many other similar admonitions encourage us to trust that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him ( Hebrews 11:6).

    There is much controversy on where the dome of the Rock is;

The Temple King David built; but was destroyed in 70ad

The courts and buildings built by the Romans

The 1 (of 2) copper scrolls found

    Gihon springs (4000yrs old)

Lots of new videos on the Temple being rebuilt on YouTube.

I do not find in Psalms 132 that Solomon built the first temple in Jerusalem. I do find it in 1 Chronicles 17. Why is this question posed in the Psalms 132 reading?

    Psalms 34:11

Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will TEACH you the fear of the LORD.

    Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to TEACH them war (prayer), at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;

And that ye may TEACH the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.

    Deuteronomy 31:19

Now therefore write ye this song for you, and TEACH IT the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

    Titus 2:4

That they may TEACH the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children (and TEACH THEM TO PRAY)

    Daniel 1:4

Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning

    Deuteronomy 4:10

Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may TEACH THEIR CHILDREN.

Where is Zion? Is this considered heaven? This is written long before the new testament, which in Rev. 21:1 says there will be a new heaven and new earth. Does that mean Zion is heaven until Jesus returns then it will be upgraded or closed so a new heaven is created?
