  • The Anointing Oil on Aaron39s Robes - In Reply on Psalms 133 - 5 years ago
.. And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister as priests to Me. (NASB) Ex. 30:23-25, 30

The oil used to anoint Aaron was holy anointing oil.

The holy anointing oil was a mixture of four spices in oil. The spices were myrrh, cinnamon, cane, and cassia. The spices were mixed together in olive oil. They were different spices mixed together to make a wonderful fragrance - a holy oil. What a picture of unity. It is a picture of very different people, yet people who are united.

    Conclusion:

When these spices were mixed with oil, the oil became holy oil. It was not the oil that was holy but the mixture. By themselves the spices could not make a holy oil. God did not ask for three measurements of myrrh, but required four different spices. God could have used just one spice, but He did not do that. It is a great reminder for us that we need each other to provoke one another to love and good deeds ( Heb. 10:24). The body of Jesus Christ is made up of all types of people.

Jesus is our High Priest. He sits at the right hand of God. Who ever lives to make intercession for the saints of God. (That's us)

He is the head; we are his body. The anointing oil upon his head, runs down his collar, upon everyone who is become a part of his body.

My comment: we ought all to consider each other parts of his body, that form the whole body. Treat each other accordingly.

We are responsible for the Light that he bestows upon us. We find that light in the Gospel Books of the Bible. To the revelation that He gave to his apostles. To the revelation that his apostles gave to us, the new believers. The Body of Christ.

Don't despise. Dwell in love. Preach and teach in love. Correct in love and mercy. Always reveal the Fruits of the Holy Spirit, which the Son of God was crucified, then rose again..

That Jesus gave to His Church, the Body; on the Day of Pentecost.

Aaron would've wanted for the perfume to stay on his robes.

Earl, I do believe there is a spiritual meaning to God' Word, but there is such a thing as over-spiritualizing the text, which was a common practice in the medieval church. But to take every word and give it a spiritual meaning not suggested anywhere else in the Bible is to put meanings where they are not warranted.

My problem with the second verse is not that I don't know that oil is symbolic as the Holy Spirit, but why that oil had to flow over Aaron's garments.

Natalie, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

The word of God is a mystery; it is a HIDDEN treasure. What appears to be natural most often has a HIDDEN meaning.

Psalms 133:2 IT (the oil; the higher meaning is the HOLY SPIRIT) is like the precious ointment (when some one was called to do God's work they had their heads anointed with oil; which was the Holy Spirit, the WORKS OF GOD were performed by them through the power of the HOLY SPIRIT) that ran down on the beard; even Aaron's beard (Aaron was anointed as a high priest (but the true meaning is; Christ was always chosen to be our HIGH PRIEST, Aaron's beard is CHRIST): that (the oil, the anointing, the HOLY SPIRIT) went down to the skirts of his garments (WE ARE CHRIST GARMENTS; the anointing has come down to us; to make us PRIEST UNTO GOD)

Revelation 5:10 And (CHRIST) hast made us unto our God kings and priest, and we shall reign on earth.

I know Christians need unity, but why did the KJV compare this with the ointment on Aaron's head that ran down to his garments? I know I'm thinking like a woman, but it has always bothered me that beautiful garments were made for Aaron to wear as Priest, but letting the oil drip on them seemed to be ruining the garments and making for a big washing job required for those garments. Does anyone have any spiritual insight into this verse in Psalm 133:2?

When as God's child if we are in oneness Lord is giving a special blessing. Not a corporate blessing, but commanding a blessing upon us, as like God commanded ravens to feed Elijah which no body can change including Ahab (Power of darkness)

Psalms 133": Unity should be the main concern of every child God especially in churches at home. The symbol of the children of God is peace and unity. God will always visit us when we are at peace and unity with one another.

My opinion is that with unity comes strength, and when God's people unite in praise giving glory to the all might God, that will be fulfilment, it will be focus, that will be such power from the Blood, from the living Word that the supernatural power that was given to us will be activated, and that will be a true invitation to the Holy spirit. He will show up. I truly believe that.

Psalm 133, is exactly what the church of Christ Jesus is lacking today..the ministers of God lacks this, the members of church congregation lacks this.God is interested in unity and wants us to be united in love so that his spirit can dwell in the church and in us and families as well..in a place where there is disunity, the spirit of God is far.it was unity that gave birth on penticus day.
