Early Christians met in homes. There's no requirement for a facility or space for which some meet. I think the point is being in fellowship with other Christians.
  • Vee on Psalms 24 - 3 years ago
The Bible says that we as christians should gather ourselves with the saints! So my question is, is it mandatory that we go into the church( the building) to worship God? Because I was always taught that our bodies is the church!! And the sanctuary is just a building!

There is not but one Lord of host, that's the Lord Jesus Christ.

Brother Richard, it should be Psalms 24:9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates, even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in (to new Jerusalem).

How do you like this outline for being Christocentric?

368 The Triumphs of Christ Psalm 24

1 Triumph of the Prophesied-Ascent to the Hill of the Lord on earth Ps.24:3-6

His triumphal entry into Jerusalem and to the Temple on Mount Zion Zech.9:9; Matt.21:5-12

2 Triumph of the Crucified-Ascension into Heaven as Conqueror Ps.24:7,8

'Mighty in battle' Mark 16:19; Col.2:15

3 Triumph of the Glorified-Entry with His people as Lord of hosts Ps.24:9,10; John 14:3

I love that Psalm too. I often go to Psalm 51 too. I make mistakes. I sit with King David a while.

Psalm 24 was one of The Psalms read in public school homeroom every morning. I heard it read so often that I have most of it memorized.

The portion that deeply influenced me is...

Who shall ascend to The Hill of The LORD or who shall stand in His Holy Place?

He that hath clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

He shall receive the blessing of The LORD and Righteousness from The God of his Salvation.

Righteousness that is not my own.

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" Tit 3:5

"But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:" 1Co 1:30

And if the princes of this world had known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory, Jesus he is the Lord of host. The Mighty God of Jacob.

"Who" in verse 3 is revealed in verses 4,5 and 6 as he and him, not you or I. The King receives

all the blessing and righteousness for his realm. The instruction to the generation/seekers is to be watchful/heads up as managers of the gates and doors of our lives. That is from the outer most gate to the innermost door. When we open the barriers between us he will enter and we will witness glory as never seen before or since.

Don't you just love the hymn, "Praise the Father, Praise the Son, Praise the Spirit every one; Praise the King of Glory, Praise Him for eternity"?

(Based on Psalm 24:8; Psalm 24:10)

Psalm 24:8-10 8Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. 9Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 10Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah. (KJV)

Marilyn, the word "generation" has a couple of usages in Scripture. As in the book of Genesis & Mathew 1:17 for example, it clearly applies to a timeline or family line. In other cases, Generation, can apply to people in general over any period of time (e.g. Luke 21:32, Acts 2:40, 1 Pet 2:9). I realize it gets confusing, but Scripture needs to be in its context: who is the writer writing about, was it an event taking place at that time, or was it referencing people then & in the future You are right, many in today's generation have turned their face from God & His Gift of Salvation. We must pray especially for those in our families who have heard the Gospel - that Light will shine to them.
  • Marilyn T on Psalms 24 - 4 years ago
Verse#6 said this is the generation that seek his face I have a difficult time with that verse because I am not

aware of this Generation seeking God. I don't know everything , but some of today's Generation is not seeking

God. Some of them are the Lowest and most sinful. I know that God's word is true in V.6, but I pray that this

Generation is not lost! Not only me praying , but this Generation must also Pray. Some of them say that they

have heard this Bible "stuff" all of their lives. I pray that when they are Old they will not forget God!

  • Stevie on Psalms 24 - 5 years ago
Clean hands and a pure heart; Him shall see the God of glory. But those whose mouths spew deceit and whose hearts are corrupted by vanity, they will be left bereft of any good thing from God. They will writhe in agony of their own making, and bewilderment and bottomless sorrow, of their own doing. They have no excuse and will wither to chaff and be blown away. But the righteous hear the word

ONLY Lord Jesus fits the description of v.4. Jeremiah23:6THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS."The blessing" is singular unto him who "knew no sin".Our blessing is to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior.2Cor.2:21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

This psalm let us know that God is creator of all things. And exalt us to open our hearts to receive the glory of God in all its splendor. Only those with pure hearts will receive the blessings of the Lord. This had always been true from generations to generations. All those that have seek him and encounter him have receive it We should always open our minds and hearts to receive the Lord.

In Psalm 24, we are reminded of the attributes that can make us see God- "Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully."

It is a powerful chapter that demonstrate God's dominion in everything He created including the earth. He is God and there is no other. He is God and there is none like HIM and He has also given me dominion over all at the day of my creation in Genesis 1 in Jesus Mighty Name!!!
