Good verses to read in school and bible study.
  • Mild Bill,saved by grace on Psalms 26 - 6 years ago
Not confident in his integrity,David asks to be judged.David listed his judgements and intentions, but a defining difference between him and others,is his trust in the Lord.Seeing the Lord's loving kindness, truth, sacrificial altar and wondrous works, his integrity alone does not save him,so,he begs redemption with mercy,as need we all.God saves us by his integrity, not our own.He loves, but we lack.

"But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me." Integrity is soundness and wholeness, worked out by virtue and principle and honesty. Integrity is what makes the strength and the value, being proven by trial; just as the light drives away the darkness, and all is then seen clearly; and the heat of the fining pot forces out the worthless, and leaves the precious.

As we learn the Word of God and the voice and leading of the Spirit; it is integrity in us that does what is right, and God therefore keeps us from sinning against Him. If we fear to sin, and tremble because of the danger in the temptations; then when we pronounce the appropriate Scriptures like the Lord did, and stand determined in our heart no matter what; then God will keep us from sinning.

Bill; We are given grace to not sin because God sees our integrity. Many know, and many believe, but when it comes to the moment of fiery trial or strong passions pulling us in a bad direction against the commandment; it is the courage and integrity to stand against your own feelings and desires that will save us. How many times did Jesus say, Thy faith hath saved thee and made thee whole?
  • Mild Bill on Psalms 26 - 6 years ago
Despite his integrity,he wants/needs redemption.Understanding the mercy of God in not immediately judging his sin unto death, but God in his graciousness, showing his loving kindness. Therefore, David issues forth praise of God as a believer who knows of him.Sliding is less likely when you have even footing, among God's people.God's interest is in the quality of people, rather than the numbers. All bow.

Verses 4 and 5 show the need to guard our association. We must be careful in choosing who we associate with in person and also by our entertainment.

1 Chronicles 16:8 Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. Psalms 26:7 That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works. Revelation 7:12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

Dear Lowanda; Jesus who brought you to the day of repentance and conversion will never leave you nor forsake you; and all that He has had in His heart for you from the foundation of the world, He will not rest until it is done completely! We have so much to grow and to learn and to be transformed and made like our Master Jesus: hunger for Him in His Word every day in much prayer, and only believe!
  • Lowanda on Psalms 26 - 7 years ago
Yes the lord is always among us. I was just saying today before I went to psalms 26 that when God Bless you, you must put behind people that is not of God I was blessed and I'm not the same person I was before I was saved I'm trying to be a good person and continue to love God. I don't want to do the things I use to do. So I would love to thank God for saving me and today it was confirmed .

Since each of us have inherited sin and imperfection, we should ask God to examine us and help us to see where we need to make improvements so that we can have his approval and blessing.

Verse 8 shows the love that David had for Jehovah's house.

I was looking for the interpretation of biblical 'hate' as pertains to God saying, "Esau have I hated." In doing so I ran across 'Baker's Evangelical dict.' Among many other instances , he mentions Ps.26:5; that David is saying he (and God) hate evil people. This is NOT what this scripture is saying; it says God hates the evil, not the people; cont.

I really loved the way Mild Bill commented on this Psalms. I totally agree with you

I read so many apologizing for David's "Anointed" words, and excusing a weak character and sinning. When the Holy Spirit "mightily filled" David from the day that Samuel anointed him in front of his brothers and his dad; how do some really think that David wasn't writing according to the kind of walk he had with God? Instead they project their own unsanctified and unconsecrated nature to everyone!

"Mine integrity" is his fairness, in perspective. He is not unaware of his faults and is reliant on trusting in the mercy of the Lord. Some behavior is not his habit. He has "walked" and "will" walk, because he knows something of the place where the Lord dwells, and he wants to be there. He does not hold back his praise of God and his wondrous works. He sees and knows the best of God. Shouldn't we

David is taking advantage that he meet with God now and the same God will pronounce judgment on the final day. He want to have feedback right now before the time so that he can rectify his life before the final day. Since he is the one calling for this judgment, it is true that he is ready to change after being shown his failures.

    v. 12 - :.....In the CONGREGATIONS will I bless the Lord." Heb. 10:25 - ".....not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is." A Christian walk with God/Jesus is not a solitary - as many 'pretend' to believe. You cannot sit on a mountain top and 'meditate' on God DURING Sunday services. God sees such and He deals with them, but some won't 'listen'.

In verse 1 and 2, David asked God to examine him. This shows that he had confidence. He wanted to identify and work on any defect that was found in him.
  • SEH on Psalms 26 - 8 years ago
As I read this passage, I thought how we like David need to ask God to examine us. Are you on the right path, are we choosing our associates wisely. Lord keep my feet on the straight path , that leads to eternal life with You, guide my mind and my heart always. Is my prayer in Jesus Name Amen
  • Irene123 on Psalms 26 - 8 years ago
To Lu2677 - yes, David was 'requesting', not demanding. David was a man after God's own heart; he knew where his place was.
  • BSP on Psalms 26 - 8 years ago
Verse 5 shows that David knew that his associations mattered to God. God wants us to be selective about the friends we choose. Choosing the wrong associates could cause David to lose out on God's favor.

I find it enlightening to ask the lord to come into your life and verify that you are worthy of his acceptance. To prepare test in our lives to keep us focused and to ensure that we continue to live and do things according to his will.
