Discuss Psalms 32

    Oseas

Hey brother just one last thing to consider.

Daniel 9:24-27, in this prophecy, there are seventy weeks or 490 years determined unto Daniel's people and the holy city to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Have these 6 things been fulfilled in Jesus the Messiah, and the judgment of it carried out in 70 AD? If so, all of this prophecy has been fulfilled in the past.

1 To finish the transgression. To break or violate, as a law, civil or moral; the act of transgressing. Psalms 32:1 Isaiah 53:5-11 Romans 4:14-15 Galatians 3:18-19 Hebrews 9:14-15.

2 To make an end to sins. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. Matthew 1:21 Hebrews 10:8-11 John 1:29 1 Corinthians 15:3 1 John 3:5 Psalm 32:1 Romans 3:21-26 Romans 8:3.

3 To make reconciliation for iniquity. Reconciliation is an element of salvation that refers to the results of the atonement. Colossians 1:20-22 Isaiah 53:6 Isaiah 53:11 Romans 5:11 Ephesians 2:16 Titus 2:14 2 Corinthians 5:18-19.

4 To bring in everlasting righteousness. In conformity to the demands of the covenant and according to God's will. Isaiah 61:10-11 Romans 3:21-26 Romans 5:17-21 2 Corinthians 5:21 1 Peter 2:24.

5 To seal up the vision and prophecy. The greatest prediction, which runs like a golden thread through the whole contents of the Old Testament, is that regarding the coming and work of the Messiah, Jesus. Daniel 9:23 Matthew 11:11-15 Mark 1:14-15 John 5:36-40 John 6:27 Acts 3:18.

6 To anoint the most holy. The high priest went into the holy of holies once a year with the blood of a sacrificed bull. Jesus our high priest with His own blood anointed the most holy not made with hands once and for all, forever. Hebrews 9:6-14.

Jesus said it in John 19:28-30.

    God bless,

    HARMONIZING SCRIPTURE

These scriptures goes well with my previous post.

    Colossians 2:10-15.

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

    And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

    Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

    John 6:28-29.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

    Psalms 32:1-5.

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.

For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

    God bless

Thank YOU FATHER for the forgiveness of my sins.

    v2

Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputs not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

I have confessed my sins and have not withheld my iniquities before YOU; V5 "and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah."

All who are godly shall pray unto to YOU LORD, because YOU are our hiding place, and place of preservation. I am at peace and comfort because of the songs of deliverance that surround me as well as all who walk up rightly in YOUR presence.

Thank YOU for teaching and showing me YOUR way and where I should walk. I will not go about as a person who is obligated, or coerced; but I will walk in the love of YOUR wisdom and understanding.

Many are the sorrows of the wicked: but I will have YOUR mercy and peace all around me because I have learned to trust in YOU; Isaiah 26:3.

The righteous and upright in their heart will be glad in the LORD GOD, and rejoice, and shout for joy. For the joy of the LORD is my strength. Nehemiah 8:10

GOD bless and shine HIS face on all who are on this forum in the name of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

    Psalm 32

The summary of the Psalm seems to be similar or perhaps is connected to the previous one; as we see a mention of aching bones in verse 3. I had already postulated as to the possible cause of these issues; and it seems in verse 5 that certain behaviors may have led to this condition (as well as the hand of God being heavy on David in verse 4).

Verse 6 discusses coming to the Lord while there is yet time; not say in the "great flood" which could be a past reference to what happened in the days of Noah or perhaps in the end times as well. Surely we need to be mindful of sin and approach Christ while there is yet day and we can work ( John 9:4 and similar admonitions). Verse 7 once again discusses a "hiding place" or place of refuge which could be deliverance through the trials in this life or from the wrath to come; or certain other things today.

We see an interesting change of wording in verse 8 which seems to carry to verse 9. The "I will instruct thee" clearly is God Himself talking; and it seems that verse 9 is very much like the book of James in the N.T. ( James 3:3). Verse 10 also is like other verses which state there is no peace for the wicked ( Isaiah 57:21).

We are told to "shout for joy" if indeed righteous. We are reminded of the Beatitudes where we are said to be "blessed' when persecuted and many say things against us for Christ's sake ( Matt. 5:11). It seems David spent much of his years patiently handling accusations; first from Saul and then from his own offspring; partially as the result of God's chastisement due to his own transgressions.

Dear EDWARD, draw close to the Lord God in daily devotions, praying, not only reading but studying the Bible, singing hymns, meditating. Here's some helpful verses.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Psalms 32:8 - I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

John 16:13 - Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Isaiah 30:21 - And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Matthew 7:7-11 - Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you...

To Sawme on his comment on the word "Selah". This word has been used many times in Psalms starting in Psalm 3:2, 3:4, and 3:8. Why is it that you said the word Selah was not seen until Psalm 32? The meaning of the word is most likely referring to "pause". Hope this helps.

Here is some scriptures to pencil in on the back page of your Bible:

    John 14:26

    John 15:26

    John 16:7

    John 14:6 Lamentations 1:16

Teacher, Advocate, Helper. Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus. The Greek word is: paracletos (one who comes alongside to Help)

The thing some people miss is that the Holy Spirit is always close by. Even tho he's a Spirit with no visible body...trust me, He is beside you. Talk to Him. Study with Him. Be aware of His presence.

It's hard, but don't grieve him or quench Him. He is God, the Holy Spirit. He loves you more than anyone else you've ever known.

Sing to Him and soon you will hear His song singing in your heart. Anything that hurts in you, will be healed.

Luke 4;18-19 ( Isaiah 61:1). Jesus speaking about the Spirit of the Lord.

Gifts and ministries of the Holy Spirit, that He imparts as He wills. 1 Corinthians 12:31

One thing was hard for me to learn: walk beside the Holy Spirit, and don't run ahead of Him. :)

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord....

A LOT of wisdom is given in Proverbs. Also, David was a man after Gods own heart. It's good to study WHY.
  • Chris - In Reply on Psalms 32 - 4 years ago
Ed, you may get other opinions on this Psalm, but my impression is that it is David speaking throughout the Psalm & seems very likely that it is a sequel to Psalm 51, another penitential utterance. If you look at Ps 51, you will see a similar style (i.e. vv 1-12 showing David's pleas & confession, & then v 13 records that "then will I teach transgressors"). Likewise, in Ps 32, vv 1-7 shows the blessing of forgiveness & then v 8 (& this may follow a similar thought), "(only then) will I instruct thee & teach thee".

However, this interpretation is open-ended as one can only make an assumption from our standpoint. Yet, from portions from other Davidic Psalms, there is clear indication that they were Holy Spirit inspired so as to convey the Lord's Mind or Action to readers. So, to answer your question, I believe the whole Psalm is David's utterance (even in his giving of instruction after first confessing) but, as in all Scripture, the Psalm is inspired by the Spirit & therefore it is He Who speaks to us in our reading & meditation, applying it to our specific need.

  • Norma Coleman on Psalms 32:8 - 4 years ago
It is said that the eyes are the window to your soul, then it also saids that the soul is the most inner parts of our being. That to me are the heart and the emotions. I believe God sees with, his heart, his Spirit. So when he says, " I will guide you with my eyes." He is guiding us with love, as a parent does for their children. You see God leads with his heart and that is what he is trying to get us to do. Let him lead us with his heart.
