  • SUICIDE THOUGHTS - In Reply on Isaiah 55 - 3 years ago
If you're not Christian, you will go to hell. There is no escape.

What you do as a Christian can cut off any plans the Lord had purposed for your life.

    Psalms 39:4

LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.

    JEREMIAH 29:11-13

For I know the thoughts that I think TOWARD YOU, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an EXPECTED end.

Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will HEARKEN unto you.

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Almost every trauma in our life, is temporary. If you will draw close to God again, ask Him to dim the memories that hurt so much. I did that, expecting nothing, but God did that for me. The pain is gone. Be brave and ask Him to dim what hurts.

If we commit suicide as Christians we stop the thoughts God had planned for us. Don't take your life. Give it to Jesus. Allow Him to give you a new purpose.

If you are bitterly lonely, get involved in life again. I find nursing homes a wonderful place to bring my joy to. I sit and read happy Psalms to people. After a few weeks, I ask them if they want to go with Jesus to their heavenly home. Some say yes. Some are already saved, but we pray for the Lords comfort. The Holy Spirit comes to do his work on their lives.

You go home feeling a little tired, but very blessed. Sometimes I buy greeting cards they can put by their bed.

God will heal your memories, but first you have to give them to Him. Forever.

  • Disquieted Used in Scripture - In Reply on Psalms 42 - 4 years ago
Read the Chapters these scriptures are in, to see what was going on at those times, to cause disquietedness in these people's lives:

    1 Samuel 28:15

And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

    Psalms 39:6

Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

    Psalms 42:5

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

    Psalms 42:11

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

    Psalms 43:5

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

    Proverbs 30:21

For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:

Disquieted in Proverbs 30, interestingly is a prophetic book speaking to the signs of the Times we are living in Now.

Describing this Generation of people's living on the earth. Even describing the riots in our cities:

the hatred of our young people against their own parents

    The hatred against racial injustice,

Hatred against upper class, middle class, and lower class, that suffer need for everything.

Hatred for generations that did nothing (in their perception) to save the earth, prevent global warming, killing animals into extinction, ethnic cleansing of whole nations of people to take their lands for their own greedy reasons.

As they erupt in anger, so will the earth respond in kind.

    Mishael.

The psalmist express how venerable we're really are as human beings. He also describes our sinful nature and how we can't move forward w/o God's grace and mercy. I really see myself in the psalm because I need God's grace in my life. We're saved by His grace.

This chapter is something everyone can relate to. It's hard to keep the faith going throughout our struggles and all we can do is pray that God will help us. The person speaking in this chapter seems to be aware of how sinful he is, but the fact he still tries to keep his faith is something we should emulate. Most times, we pray "just because" instead of with mindfulness. Memorized prayers become a chore, and this is why personal prayers are most important to me. When was the last time we really prayed with mindfulness, when we really spoke to God?

Verse 4 5 one of my favourite verses I memorized. Always remind ourselves that we are as grass, and the best of us are as flowers. The grass withers away, and the flowers faded away. Anything that is looked at in the context of eternity is vanity.

God is holy and He chastises us by secretly and insensibly consuming our desirable state to sensitize us to repent.

This verse hit me the most, O spare me, that I may recover strenght, before I go hence and be no more. I am asking myself of what legacy will I leave when Im gone. What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits towards me? Sometimes, life demands so much from us and we tend to feel like quitting, that we cant go on any longer, but God 's promises are never fading. We just have to believe Him. He is our strenght when we are weak, he hears even our silent cries. Worry no more, pray more!

I first became aware of this "saying ", while studying for a college exam. Not knowing it 's origin. I interperted this as while I was wasting time, my energy and my creative ability were being ignored. Where life is passing by quickly, being spend in a useless manner. Where I 'm wasting my time on things that are not important and of no value. Here I am now, decades later looking up the meaning, and finding I was completely wrong in my interpertation.

This prayer of David is just to show us, that before the Lord we are strangers in this world, and pilgrims just like our fathers. As we cry out to God to hear us, and to help us remember that our life is but a hand breathe, and will soon pass. We need wisdom to know our end, so that we will apply our heart to do the will of God. We are not just here to heap up riches, but we need to sow seeds in the lives of others for Christ. Just as Paul said Lord I want to know you, in the power of your resurrection, the fellowship of your suffering, being made in the likeness of your death, so that I could inherit the resurrection from the dead. God will hear our prayer, and grant that we will have a reward at the end of our journey.

For us to meditate on our thoughts. To let them build inside us so we can come to our Lord and let our request be known.g
  • Gary on Psalms 39 - 14 years ago
Meditation on the brevity of life is a wonderful tool to help the Saint separate from that which is temporary in order to enter, through prayer, into that which is eternal. It is a loving God who makes our fallen state a mere handbreadth.
