Discuss Psalms 57

    Stewart:

Most of the Psalms convey a prophecy of Christ.

This Psalm is a prophecy of what the works of his cross will accomplish.

Psalms 75:1 Unto thee do we give thanks, for THY NAME is near (as) thy WONDROUS WORKS declare.

We were married to Christ, becoming one flesh, and bearing HIS NAME, at his resurrection.

Psalms 57:2 When I (Christ) RECEIVE the congregation ( Psalms 2:8) I (Christ) will judge uprightly.

Psalms 57:3 The earth and the inhabitants thereof are dissolved (they will died on the cross). I (Christ) will bear the PILLARS ( Revelation 3:12 the NEW CREATION) of it.

Psalms 57:4 I (Christ) said unto the fools (all of us, because we have not knowledge of the works of God); Deal not foolishly: and unto the wicked (all of us), Lift not up the horn (a symbol of power).

Psalms 57:5 Lift not up your horn on high, speak not with a stiff neck.

Psalms 57:6 For PROMOTION (going form a foolish, stiff necked people: to the sons of God) cometh neither from the east, nor the west, nor the south,

Psalms 57:7 But (from) God (who) is the judge, he putteth down one (all of us, the foolish and stiff necked), and setteth up another (the sons of GOD).

All by the RESURRECTION of Christ.

    God BLESS YOU.

Psalm 57. James 3:6 is one of the first things I notice a parallel to with verse 4. There are other verses describing animals prophetic of those surrounding Christ during the crucifixion in Psalm 22:12-13. Here in this Psalm we once again are given in the intro. the information that this was written during David's cave retreat as happened multiple times with Saul's insanity.

We see crying in verse 2 and singing in verses 7-8; finally praise in verse 9 with the resulting appreciation of mercy and truth (v.10) with His name exalted in the last verse. These are solid Biblical approaches to persecution; as we see when Paul was incarcerated in Acts 16:25-28 along with Silas; it in fact led to deliverance.

Ecclesiastes 9:12 and a host of other verses describe men being caught in nets due to their own sin. (see Job 18:5-9; Isaiah 24:18). "Vengeance is mine; I shall repay" is in Deuteronomy 32:35 and quoted in Romans 12:19. It is important to remember David's attitude toward "God's anointed" (see 1 Samuel 24). Even when Saul died David still mourned over him. This attitude of loving our enemies should characterize our lives while we still proclaim the truth that indeed the Day of His wrath is coming; and only through the cross will we escape.

    April,

    Love your post.

Yes, there are many things happening today that concern us. It is good to be concerned. We do not want to be apathetic or unaffected by what happens Being concerned causes us to have compassion on others. But, yes, it is true, we are to trust Jesus and love like He would have us in order to do what He would have us do.

    Blessings to you

I really don't understand what you are saying, selah is a word, there is letters numbers and words. Why are you trying to confused people. don't think it's more wiser to tell people the meaning of the word selah. Don't think it's better to let people be there own individual who God has made. If the writer of the old testament, see it fit to put it there who are you to decide that you should not use it or it should not be there or it is not a word. The Bible said holy men move as God gives them utterance. The reason why the church is in the place that it is today. It is because everybody want to rewrite over the word of God God give no man that authority, the Bible said do not add to his word neither take away from his word. Rev.22:18.. God resist the proud and he give more grace to the humble, James4:6 too much proud man and woman is on pulpit, and taking people to hell. God is the same yesterday today and forever more. Enough is enough we need to get back to the true and living God, his word is truth. Sanctify them through your truth, his word is truth. John 17:17 his true shall be my shield and buckle. Psalm 91: 4 God bless all

Stephanie, may the Spirit grace you with HIS wisdom and His understanding.

Your question is, what must I do?

You answered your on question in the sentence preceding you question.

I HAVE LEARNED God wants to clear out the "rocks and weeds" in my life breaking up the hard soil.

GOD IS FAITHFUL IN ALL HIS WANTS. HE will do the work. Sit still and behold the salvation (WORKS) of God.

Psalms 57:2 I will cry into God most high; unto God THAT PERFORMETH ALL THINGS FOR ME.

As to fasting in God's eyes the answer is in Isaiah 58

The inclusion in the reading of the Psalms of the word "Selah" is not necessary as the term is a musical pause, not a word. (used in ancient chants as a break) ... Its rather like one reading this aloud and saying a moment ago "open quotation marks close quotation marks" it spoils the flow and is totally unnecessary and you should edit your audio wave files accordingly. God surely is our Rock! No one can move or harm us. He stands as a High Mountain protecting His own. He puts a Strong Light of Love around us to Stop the enemy getting too close. We should always Wear the Armor He Provides, when we battle with the World and it's evilness. He is our Strength! When we get weary from our fight- get on your knees and ask for help. Wait-- Here He comes- STRONG!!!

So, I have been in turmoil past my husband's transition 9months ago. I have been sorely broken hearted, and attacked by his family members. I became angry bitter and hurt. I did not trust totally in God the way I should have. Today I repent and forgive them. I never was unforgiving, but this situation took the cake. I am begging God's forgiveness and looking to Him totally.

    Psalm 57:
    Prayer while among Enemies!
This is David’s prayer during a time when circumstances were very dark. He was in a cave of Abdullah, hiding from King Saul( 1 Samuel 22:1: 24:1: 26:1):
David continues to trust in God! It’s obvious: God knows how to get our attention:
When everything is going good, we tend to forget God, but when we are in
trouble, we want God to help us: do same again:

It gives me hope and comfort from a time of losing my sight on Him and thinking earthly. I lost my way. But He lead me to this and I took shelter in the shadow of His wings and I stumbled my way back. Still stumbling but my eyes are on Him. Praise the Lord.

God is so awesome, He let 's us know to seek Him early in the morning, while He may be found. It let us know that seeking Him in the midnight hours is not in vain. Pray, Praise and Press your way through your most difficult times without murmuring and complaining. And God Almighty will reward you if you do it sincerely with a willful heart. Let your heart be set on fire for God knowing that your deliverance is already been done. Knowing you have the VICTORY IN GOD. AMEN, AMEN, AMEN

Awake up, my glory, awake psaltery and harp. I will awake the dawn. The Lord Jesus said if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me. As Jonah was three days and nights in the belly of the whale, so the Son of man will be three days, and nights in the heart of the earth. Sing for joy unto the Lord, for Jehovah shall not leave my soul in hell, nor allow His holy one to see corruption. Good Friday will give way to Resurrection Morning.
