"Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face." Like the Apostle wrote "Everyone that has this hope in him purifies himself even as He is pure;" whether its the innumerable voices of strangers that mislead into darkness and error away from faith, or our lusts; we have to set our eyes on Jesus above all these evils that surround us in and out.
"For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing (falsehood): the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man." Therefore we make account and set in order all our ways every morning before God that we be of the Truth from the heart.
Dear Mild Bill; You write right from my heart! And I love especially what is taught in this Psalm about coming before the LORD in the morning to "set in order" and "give account" before Him, BECAUSE He is not a God who will abide wickedness, nor allow anything unclean into His Presence. So we examine ourselves through His Word, and be all honest about our character, our behavior, and our thoughts.

After sleep,we should make a habit of going to the Lord who has sustained us while in that state. To pray for a path in the day to follow,in his service, unto his glory.Because of his mercy and grace,we are in his house,in the company of other believers.Sin and wickedness are near us in this world and we know judgement with justice will come.Joy to fullness then in Thy kingdom come,Thy will be done.
I like this scripture it gives you reassurance knowing that God will bless you and surround you with his shield of protection in face of the adversary.
I would like to get deeper understanding of the book of psalm because my heart desires to truly seek the face of The Lord and to be to do his will by having understanding and insight of his ways
Self righteousness is iniquity/deceitful,whereas,the truly righteous are so,by the grace of God.Man can never earn forgiveness, some are lead by God to accept what was paid for on the cross."Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy and whom he will he hardeneth."Titus3:5. God is,Sovereign in salvation, never indebted to our works, done in thankfulness to him.Salvation is never temporary.
Bill; This is one of my favorite stories in the Bible. The Pharisee really had a lot to be thankful for, but not for the things that he supposed made him "better than" his neighbor the Publican. Had he rightly understood the meaning of his religion he wouldn't have had the "holier than thou" attitude to judge and despise his brother's trouble. Walking in truth cannot forget its own need of grace.
The Pharisee stood, prayed thus,God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers,or even as this publican.I fast twice in the week,I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying,God be merciful to me a sinner.Saved by mercy and grace of God.Romans5:8 while yet
God is a God of love, mercy restoration and above all he is jealousy God and wont allow his people soaked in wickedness, he is our creator patient at all times waiting for us to come to repentance. Unto those who persistently dwell in wicked manner, he will destroy them.
God commendeth his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.Romans5:8There is none righteous no not one Romans3:10Not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to his mercy he saved us Titus3:5Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy and whom he will he hardeneth. Nobody is ever worthy God is merciful gracious Sovereign in salvation of sinners
Why worry if God loves you if you love God. Yes, worry if you hate righteousness, hate God's severity for you will be cut off like a branch that yields no fruit and cast into the fire. All of God's ways are righteous. He created you're Soul. It is His. He can and will destroy the phoney, pretenders who presumptuously claim Salvation. Don't you dare. It is God's to give only if you are worthy
Hi RALPH268; This is a difficult thing for a lot of good people to understand. How can God love wicked people; murderers, pedophiles, etc.? He doesn't! But the Scriptures say, that God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his wicked ways, and from the violence in their hands, and do right and live. God made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.
GOD DOES HATE THE SINNER IT IS THE SIN IN THE SINNER GOD WILL NOT ABIDE IN THE SAME PLACE WITH SIN FOR HE IS HOLY I REPEAT HE LOVES NOT SIN BUT LOVES THE SINNER HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR ALL MEN AND GAVE US THE CHOICE TO LIVE THE KIND OF LIFE WE CHOOSE
I.123,Love your question.Equate=To make allowance or correction in as will reduce to a common standard or obtain a correct result. To make equal, reqard as equal.I cannot make an allowance or correct God's word, one verse against another,to obtain a correct result.I cannot reduce His Word to a common standard;man's.He tells us to love our enemy, He says he hates sinners;I believe both;He said it
LU2677 - I'm just curious, absolutely not judging; I'm just very simply and openly - asking a question: how do you equate God hating sinners, actually hating people, to Matt. 5:43-44 ..... ?
Randy,You can add what you want to this; but truth is in His Word."The foolish shall not stand in thy sight; thou hatest all workers of iniquity." Psalm 5:5. God says he hates, you say he doesn't. If you have free will, why is it, that you reject what He says? Luke "For with God nothing shall be impossible" When God saves a person, He gives them the LOVE of the Truth.
no you are not wrong Jesus came down as a man walked the earth to fulfill a plan, God's perfect plan that involved everyone being saved by the Blood of Jesus Christ but God gave us a thing called "free will" that is a freedom to make our own choices so if a person is lost it is their own choice not to accept Jesus it's not because Jesus hates them and won't give them the gift of salvation.
Dilu, God hates the workers of iniquity; plain English, is it not? Psalm 5:5. Yet, God so loved the world; John 3:16. Some people cannot grasp the truth that God hates people. This "hate" should cause you to Fear him. Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
There are people on here that say that God wasn't capable of watching over His word as it was being written. Through MUCH devout prayer by the scribes God guided them in the writing. Isa. 55:11; Ps. 138:2; 19:7; 68:11. A God that CANNOT lie, Titus 1:2. Always discount anyone that says anything negative about the Word of God. Do NOT reply; just ignore them.
Dilu, Psalms 5:5 Yes, you were wrong. The truth is;God hates the sinner. And in V.9and10 David prays and asks God to destroy them. Most people refuse to believe it, they are in rebellion against the Lord. I hope God gives you wisdom to understand His Truth.
D. Goma - Some of David's writings seem strange, but - I know he also says in these same Ps. that God loves the sinner, but hates the sin. How I personally would interpret this is - people who have KNOWN God , and known his 'salvation' and tasted of the good word of God, and THEN turned back to sin, God does hate that; anyone would. There 'may' be no 2nd chance.
'Thou hatest all workers of iniquities': v.5b. I had always believed that God loves the sinner but hates the sin the sinner does. Is my belief wrong in the light of this Scripture?
Irene you misunderstand my post. I sought to share with you more about his name. The name spelling and pronunciation "Jehovah" was fabricated by the Masoretes, with good intentions, as your post also.
