Discuss Psalms 84

"Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth." Mark 9:23 KJV

"And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God." Luke 18:27 KJV

As a believer, I, believe God concerning your prayer petition before God, and that,

"... he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5 KJV

"O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah." Psalms 84:8 KJV

As a believer, I stand in agreement that God hears and answers prayers, Amen.

    Mr. Priday,

Regarding Psalm 84, I think there is no question that this is talking about Salvation itself. We must remember that Christ spoke in parables and without a parable spoke He not. And since Christ is the very Word of God we can expect these parables to exist in every part of the Bible teaching some aspect of the Gospel. That is certainly the case in Psalm 84. Every verse is dripping with with a salvation message and the blessedness of being in the eternal kingdom of God made up of all True Believers and Christ Himself.

Psalm 84. This Psalm once again is written for the sons of Korah and addressed TO the chief musician "upon Gittith". The theory apparently is that there was a certain musical style that was attributed to whoever this people were.

Remembering once again the rebellion in Numbers 16; there is a pretty clear indication in verse 10 of the event as it is stated that being a doorkeeper in God's house than to "dwell in the tents of wickedness." This should help us keep in mind situations such as that of Sodom and Gomorrah as well where Lot escaped "as through the flames" ( Gen. 11:27; 1 Cor. 3:15).

We are given future promises as well. Men will come to worship every year in Jerusalem ( Zech. 14:16) or else face punishment. (verses 5-8). We even see provision for birds who will apparently nest there (verse 3) Verse 6 shows how there will be ample water in the area at that time as well. The verse of the anointed in verse 9 surely refers to Christ; although David will once again rule as well as ourselves as "kings and priests" ( Hosea 3:5; Rev. 5:10).

Verse 12 shows a very important principle of trust and blessedness associated with it. If we desire a blessing we must live according to His righteousness and be obedient in service out of love ( John 14:15).

Yes, Donna, all of what you mentioned are good to keep in our prayers. May Ian decrease in intensity and spend itself out over open waters rather than on land.

    Sister Suze:

You are very knowledgeable in the scriptures, and you didn't get there by not understanding that a great deal of scriptures are symbolised or signified.

Revelation 1:1 .....and SIGNIFIED IT ......

Revelation 12:i And there appeared a great wonder in heaven .....

Is heaven the physical, OR, signified? the word says it's signified.

The woman also is signified, being Christ's church, or his bride.

The wonder IN HEAVEN is a woman, the church, the bride of Christ, YOU ARE HEAVEN, the abode of GOD and Christ at his right hand.

Revelation 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder IN SUZE; SUZE clothed with the SUN (the Father abiding in SUZE, and the MOON (Christ, the faithful witness IN HEAVEN) under SUZE'S feet, and upon SUZE'S head a crown of twelve stars (an innumerable company of angels, ministering spirits).

Psalms 84:11 The LORD God is a SUN (signified) and shield: the LORD (the sun) will give GRACE and GLORY: no good thing will he (the sun) withhold from them (SUZE) that walk uprightly.

Psalms 121:6 The SUN (the Father) shall not smite thee by day, nor the MOON (Christ, the faithful witness in heaven) by night.

Psalms 89:35 Once have I (the Father) sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.

Psalms 89:36 HIS SEED (CHRIST'S SEED)(SUZE the SEED) shall endure forever, and his (Christ's) throne as the SUN (the Father) before me (Christ).

Psalms 89:37 It (Christ's throne, SUZE the throne, set in heaven) shall be established forever as the MOON (Christ), as my faithful witness IN HEAVEN (IN SUZE).

Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is MY FAITHFUL WITNESS ......in HEAVEN, in SUZE, this mystery .....CHRIST IN YOU ......

    God Bless you.

    That's a tall order, Nancy! :)

I had a book once called "God's Little Promise Book", which at that time in my life was a big help to me. I'm sure you could find one online at a very reasonable price. It's a great resource to have many promises in one place for quick referral. Although that little book could not cover every promise in the Bible - it was very useful.

As you study each day, ask the Holy Spirit to quicken verses that are personal to you to 'grab hold of' and make them yours, too.

God bless you as you did into His Word!

Psalms 84 :10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

    1. Court is a village, town, a hall, a palace.

    2. "For a day in THY courts is better than a thousand" One day in your present is a lifetime of blessing, joy, and happiness.

    3. What is a doorkeeper? A doorkeeper is a person who tends a door. If I can work at your door for one day, I will praise you. I will rejoice. Just to be in his present.

    4. Who is the wickedness? Wickedness is unrighteousness, unjust, mischief, hurt, bad, trouble, and evil.

perfect! So Go to them for a spiritual Heart Boost!
  • Gigi - In Reply on Psalms 84 - 2 years ago
    Hi Ethel

Are you asking what the word "psalm" means?

    It means song.

But if you are asking what the meaning of the psalms are, then being more specific about a psalm number and verse may help us respond
  • Ethel Mae Gardner on Psalms 84 - 2 years ago
    what does psalms mean personally!
  • Rick - In Reply on Psalms 84:11 - 2 years ago
Bill The word there used for uprightly means complete and to walk complete before God is in obedience to

His Word because His Word is His will.
  • David - In Reply on Psalms 84:11 - 2 years ago
Bill Basically in harmony and alignment with Gods Word or fellowship with God and His Son.

This is literally mansions the Lord Jesus is talking about. Jesus is talking here. He even said "if it were not so, I would have told you." God is always true with His word and God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfil? - Number 23:19

When the Lord says I am free then I am free. For He says, "So if the Son sets you free you will be free indeed." - John 8:36

That's why Paul says, "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace." - Ephesians 1:7

Why can't we believe a God who chose to die for the sins of many so we can attain the life everlasting? It could have been us who should be on that cross but no. Because of His richness in grace and mercy "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us". - Romans 5:8

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord - Romans 6:23

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him - 2 Corinthians 5:21

God chose to love us even we are unlovable. We are wretched people and we need a saviour cause there is no good in us; No one is righteous, no! not one. - Romans 3:10

What shall it profit me if I gained the whole world and lose my own soul? - Mark 8:36

It is better for me to be in His courts than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked - Psalms 84:10

For it is appointed for men, us, to die once but after this is judgment.

Death is real. Hell is real.

That's why God sent Jesus once and for all to die for many once. He is not going to do it again.

That is why we need a Saviour. We can only be saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

Are you ready to receive Him?
  • Chris - In Reply on Psalms 84:11 - 4 years ago
Psalm 84:11 is indeed a precious & powerful to hang onto, Wen, & especially when the Lord puts it into your mind at midnight. The Lord can be trusted to perform His Word & to bless you in your life's situations as you hang onto Him in implicit faith.
  • Wen on Psalms 84:11 - 4 years ago
This scripture came to me close to midnight as I was casting my care upon God and relating how it seemed like the odds were against us regarding a particular situation; a situation that he knows all about.

In that moment I asked him to help me to live upright ( whatever it means, whatever it takes).
  • Vern on Psalms 84 - 4 years ago
Ya know, God will always bless the lives of those who seek righteousness and walk in faith. I'm putting some things in order in my life. I became so cocky. I was doing it My way. When GOD humbles you he does it with love but boy I sure want to take back my will. His Holy Spirit ring softly in my mind and gut. God's conviction has done for me what I couldn't do myself. I understand now. Thank you Lord. Walk upright and trust our Father God.
