Discuss Psalms 86

    What is TRUTH?

1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the SAVIOUR OF ALL MEN, specially those that BELIEVE.

Hebrews 2:8 .... we see not yet ALL THINGS put under him .....

1 Corinthians 15:28 And when ALL THINGS shall be subdued unto him ....God will be ALL in ALL....

Revelation 13:8 And all they that dwell upon the earth SHALL WORSHIP HIM, whose names are NOT WRITTEN in the book of life of the Lamb, slain from the foundation of the world.

Psalms 86:9 All nations whom thou has made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name.

Psalms 22:27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall come and worship before thee.

Revelation 15:4 Who shall not fear thee, Oh Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee, for thy judgements are made manifest.

    God bless you

Psalm 86 (part 2). Further study in the psalm leads us to verse 9; where there is the future plan of God to have ALL nations come before God in worship and praise. This would be an allusion to the many verses indicating the Millennial rule of Christ over the remaining surviving people on the earth as well as His glorified saints ruling and reigning with Christ.

Vsrse 11 shows the importance of the fear of the Lord; and verse 12 shows how praise with all our hearts will glorify His name forever (also see Exodus 20:3; Deut. 6:5).

Verse 13 shows how David was delivered from the "lowest hell". We certainly can't claim that hell wasn't referred to in the Old Testament with numerous references in Psalms; Deuteronomy; Proverbs and other scriptures. Once again verse 14 shows the type of "violent men" that pursued David; on and off throughout his lifetime; some cases of which later on were a chastisement due to David's transgressions; such as 2 Samuel 12:9-12). Perhaps verse 16 referring to the son of thy handmaid means that David's mother was still alive at the tie of this writing; I am not sure.

The Psalm ends with David reflecting on God's mercy and longsuffering characteristics. The last verse reminds us of Psalm 23 where a table is presented before our enemies ( Psalm 23:5).

Psalm 86. Here; after a long succession of Psalms attributed to others; we once again find a Psalm of David. Perhaps the reader can do further investigation to determine the approximate time in David's life when this was written.

We see in the inception of the Psalm in the first 4 verses characteristics of those which are of a "broken and contrite" spirit as Psalm 51 also describes. There is a "poor and needy" attitude (verse 2) and an attitude of submission as a servant (see verses 2 and 4). Finally; we see the characteristic of mercy in verse 3 as there apparently is a daily petition of crying to God.

The concept of trust in verse 2 is something that should be pondered more frequently as our attitude there affects how confident we are to God being faithful to meet our needs as well as working all things to the good for those who love Him (see Romans 8:28).

These characteristics allow us to converse and plead with God to attend to our requests (verse 6) and to answer in the day of trouble (verse 7). This is contrasted with such verses as Micah 3:4 and others which show the Lord will not hear the cry of the wicked in the day of their calamity because they are trying to avoid the consequences of their sins and sadly are too late for His saving Grace. Therefore; we must heed to not blowing God off; thinking that His patience will endure until we decide we are ready to "accept" Him. Salvation involves a relationship on HIS TERMS and according to His sovereign will and plans; of which we only can see a glimpse. These stipulations also are predicated on worshipping the true God (verse 8) and not the idols that other nations extol at their own peril ( Judges 16:29). In that story Sampson was shown in the end to know the Lord but reminds us of 1 Corinthians 3:12-15 of those who suffer loss of reward due to sinful living. The wicked there; nonetheless died in the midst of idol worship which should be a strong warning against any false religions today.

Some teach that based on interpretation of; Isaiah 42:7, 1Peter 3:18-19, Ecclesiastes 4:14-16, Psalms 142:7, Isaiah 53:7-12, Revelation 1:17-18, Matthew 12:38-45, Luke 11:29-32, Ephesians 4:8-10, Psalms 86:13, Acts 2:27,31, Psalms 16:10, but none of these are clearly stated nor defined so. Jonah 2:2,

    Luke 16:22-31,

I guess my question is why?

    Jesus has all authority: Luke 12:5, Luke 9:1, Mark 1:27, 1Corinthians 15:24, Matthew 28:18, Job 26:6, Psalms 139, Revelation 1:18,

    Revelation 20, 2Peter 2:4,

Let's not divide over these issues, James 3:6,

Hopefully these are helpful in your study

    Sister Kay:

Hell: the Hebrew word sheol, a place of no perception were the dead go, the grave.

Deuteronomy 32:22 For a fire is kindled in my anger .....

Is this fire literal, started with a match, of the fire of the Lord.

Luke 12:49 And I have come to send fire on the earth; and what will I (be), if it (the fire) already be kindled?

Hebrews 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Luke 12:50 And I have a baptism (fire), to be baptised with, and how am I straitened till it BE ACCOMPLISHED.

Matthew 3:11 ...he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire.

1 Corinthians 3:15 .....but he himself shall be save, as yet by fire.

Psalms 86:13 For great is thy (the Father's) mercy toward me (Christ): and thou (the Father) shall deliver my (Christ's) soul (body) from the lowest hell (sheol, the grave).

Isaiah 5:14 Therefore hell (sheol, the grave) hath enlarged herself, and open her mouth without measure ....

    Mark 9:43

I have never seen a Christian that believed these verses, if they are literal, otherwise they would have cut off their hands and feet to keep from going to hell.

    It's an analogy.

You believe in a literal heaven and a literal hell.

Hebrews 12:27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the REMOVING of those (literal and physical) things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things (SPIRIT) which cannot be shaken remain.

    God Bless YOU!

It appears Mischil of the family of Heman, Ezraite was the singer/musician. 1Chronicles 2:6, 1Chronicles 6:33,

Psalms 88:1-5, suffering feeling like death draws near him. Crying out to GOD.

    Psalms 88:6,10,11,12 could even be considered prophetic, pointing towards Jesus CHRIST: 1Peter 4:6, 1Peter 3:18, like Psalms 86:13, 2Samuel 22:6, Psalms 18:5, Acts 2:25-36,

Vrs. 14, 15 seem also to be prophetic to Jesus CHRIST the MESSIAH , John 12:23-50,

    James 1:5,

    Hopefully this is helpful

    John 3:15-16,

If you've accepted Jesus CHRIST as you're savior, there is a promise : John 14:26, Psalms 32:8, Psalms 86:11,

    Keep persisting,

Brother Chris, the three verse you referenced:

Deuteronomy 32:22 For a fire is kindled in my anger and shall burn unto the lowest hell (Heb. sheol) .....

Psalms 86:13 For great is thy mercy toward me: and you have delivered my soul from the lowest hell (Heb. sheol).

Ezekiel 31:15 Then said the Lord God, In the day when he went down to the grave (Heb. sheol) I caused a mourning, I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.

Ezekiel 31:16 I made the nation shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell (Heb. sheol) with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.

Ezekiel 31:17 They also went down into hell (Heb. sheol) with him unto to them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen.

These verse in Ezekiel is talking about Pharaoh and his army, Verse 15 says he went to the grave (sheol), but verses 16 and 17 says he went down to hell (sheol).

The same word can not we translated as two meaning, when it's describing the same event.

Sister GiGi, here are more scriptures that say we are going to be gods. In the Hebrew text the words were never capitalised.

Exodus 7:1 And the Lord SAID unto Moses, See, I HAVE MADE thee a god unto Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

Joshua 22:22 The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods ......

Psalms 82:6 I have SAID ye are gods, children of the most high.

Psalms 86:8 Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord, neither are there any works like unto thy works.

Psalms 95:3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great king above all gods.

Psalms 97:7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boost themselves of idols, worship him, all ye gods.

Psalms 97:9 For thou, Lord, art high above the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.

Psalms 136:2 Give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth forever.

Psalms 138:1 I will praise the with my whole heart; before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

Zechariah 12:7 The Lord also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah.

Zechariah 12:8 In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the HOUSE OF DAVID shall be as God, as (the image of) the angel of the lord (that is) before them (the gods).

Teach me thy way, O LORD. Instruct me thus at all times, let me live in thy school; but teach me now especially since I am in trouble and perplexity. Be pleased to shew me the way which thy wisdom and mercy have prepared for my escape; behold I lay aside all wilfulness, and only desire to be informed as to thy holy and gracious mind. Not my way give me, but thy way teach me, I would follow thee and not be wilful.I will walk in thy truth. When taught I will practise what I know, truth shall not be a mere doctrine or sentiment to me, but a matter of daily life. The true servant of God regulates his walk by his master's will, and hence he never walks deceitfully, for God's way is ever truth. Providence has a way for us, and it is our wisdom to keep in it. We must not be as the bullock which needs to be driven and urged forward because it likes not the road, but be as men who voluntarily go where their trusted friend and helper appoints their path.Unite my heart to fear thy name. Having taught me one way, give me one heart to walk therein, for too often I feel a heart and a heart, two natures contending, two principles struggling for sovereignty. Our minds are apt to be divided between a variety of objects, like trickling streamlets which waste their force in a hundred runnels; our great desire should be to have all our life floods poured into one channel and to have that channel directed towards the Lord alone. A man of divided heart is weak, the man of one object is the man. God who created the bands of our nature can draw them together, tighten, strengthen, and fasten them, and so braced and inwardly knit by his uniting grace, we shall be powerful for good, but not otherwise. To fear God is both the beginning, the growth, and the maturity of wisdom, therefore should we be undividedly given up to it, heart, and soul.

"Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name." ( Psalms 86:11)

NOTE to self( and for others).:

We should always ask God for guidance, help, and direction so we wont be lost in this world. And we should ask God to help us fear him, but the fear of God is not fear that you are scared of him like you are scared of bad things, the fear of the Lord is the fear that of knowing that he is very powerful, and can do anything. is doing what he sends us o do because he is very powerful, so he doesn't get so he doesn't destroy us for not obeying hi, or punish us. But the lord always has mercy on everybody. And with the bad ones, and he forgives and has patience with them for a long time. So we need t always go in the path of the truth, and ask the Lord for guidance.
