That's a good question. However, we would need to ask, "who or what caused these apparent anomalies to occur?" We know that the Scriptures were never written in chapter & verse form as we have it now; they were just a single writing (or, letter) with the usual breaks afforded by the language in which they were written.
Then various folk involved in dealing with these various writings applied there own 'break ups' over the centuries, so there was no consistency in this & with punctuation over the myriad of translations produced. As history would show, the Hebrew Old Testament into verses were done by a Jewish Rabbi, Nathan, in AD 1448 & a Robert Estiennne did a similar work in the New Testament in AD 1555. Therefore, once a passage of writing is so broken up into chapters & verses, we can only conclude the same folk also applied their punctuation as they deemed necessary.
The English Bible we have now that first used chapters & verses, was the Geneva Bible in AD 1560, though the dividing of the Books into chapters & verses went on much earlier than this. Though I do admit, Psalm 96:12,13 does look peculiar as given to us, though, looking at the other verses in the Psalm which are quite short in length, Nathan may have given this strange separation in the verses to maintain the style he applied to the other verses. Just my thoughts.
Why does Psalm 96:12 end where it does? Most verses end with punctuation, but verse 12 and another verse in Psalms seem to be about the only exception to this. I was curious as to why.
1 Corinthians 5:1-7. Noting verse 5 which speaks of evidence of fornication in the Church, that the Church is required to take action against the offender. The Church is to resign him into the worldly kingdom (of the Devil), not for the purposes of total rejection & eternal damnation, but to the end that the sinner might come to his senses, repent of his evil, turn back to the Lord & therefore restored into fellowship with God's people in a holy environment. And a further letter by Paul, which we think he might have referred to the same instance in his first letter: 2 Corinthians 2:6-8.
1 Timothy 1:18-20. Paul speaking of Hymenaeus and Alexander, who blasphemed against God, making their 'faith' totally worthless. Paul said that he "delivered them to Satan for the purpose that they may acknowledge their sin & repent.
Romans 16:17. This verse doesn't specifically put out a vile person from the Church, but says to avoid them that cause divisions & teach what is contrary to true doctrine. This is done so that the person may be shamed for their behaviour & so will either cease from doing those things or leave of his own accord. Also 2 Thessalonians 3:6.
Titus 3:10-11. Again here, a heretic should be first warned, not once, but twice, & then despatched if they refuse to repent.
All the above Scriptures were penned by the Apostle Paul to believers & we believe that the apostle wrote & spoke with the full authority of Jesus. So discipline in the Church is necessary & if not administered correctly & swiftly, then sin will affect the whole Body, corrupting it with false teaching - we see so much of it today where extra-biblical sources are used in teaching or the Word of God is twisted to suit their own ends, & the Church then becomes altogether pathetic & useless.
We must come into his courts with praise...and!! bring an offering.... this is paramount... for faith without works is still dead!!!we must honor jesus with our 1st fruits of our labor to let him know that we acknowledge him as the source of all our increase... we must keep god 1st in our worship and honor him in the santuary....amen
Verse 5~The gods of the nations are all idols in that they are man made, but the true God, Jehovah God, is above all other gods and is worthy of all praise and worship.
At the coming of our Great God the saints shall meet him in the air all filled with the Holy Ghost speaking with other tongues those who have obeyed his Word along with the same from the day of pentacost(the early church)
P.S. - my mainline church I was raised in - died several years ago. All the older generation that attended died and couldn't be supported because the younger gens. moved to larger cities - for the money and or fame. When there is no freedom of His spirit ................
V. 9 - I have to 'smile', or laugh, when I read this verse. I was raised in a 'pharisee' church, a mainline church. All strict protocol; no emotion, but then emotion was strictly 'boxed up' - tightly. Now, I'm in a TRUE church of Jesus Christ - salvation by Acts 2:38 and shouting praise, clapping hands, running the aisles in the spirit and beautiful songs, worship.
I ENJOY READING PSALMS 96 BECAUSE WHEN I WAS GOING THROUGH A ROUGH TIME NANCY TOLD ME TO READ THIS CHAPTER BEFORE I GO TO BED SHE SAID AFTER THAT NO PROBLEM THANK YOU JESUS HALLELUJAH
Luke 12:4-5 (Jesus warns) "I will tell you whom you should fear, fear him, after he has killed, has power to cast into hell." Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom! If you do not fear him with terror and trembling as Job did, you do not know him. Do not take away from his word.
Read the end of Job, the chapters that tells us how God responded to Job. David feared him!
Our God is King of Kings and Lord of Lords and is ccertainly worthy of our praise God. Let us lift up our voices with all the strength that's with in us and bless his name. He's waiting to inhabit our praises and in return bless us.
"Jesus wept." John 11:35 "But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ." 1 Corinthians 8:12 "Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees." Isaiah 35:3 "Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend." 1 Corinthians 8:13 "Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert." Isaiah 35:6 "For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong." 2 Corinthians 12:13 "Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence he will come and save you." Isaiah 35:4 "Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." Romans 8:12-14

God is a righteous God. He always does what is right. He is worthy of all our praises. We are to praise Him on a daily basis not when we feel like or when things are good but even when things are not good. We are called to declare His glory among the people, to worship Him, to bless Him and we look forward to day when He will return to judge the world with righteousness and truth. Bless the Lord.
