Revelation 11:19 Say the Temple of God was opened in heaven, ad there were lightnings, and voices, and thundering, and an earthquake, and great hail, is this what John saw, and this will be fulfilled after Christ return to earth? Some people believe that Revelation has already happen, but I do not believe that. I believe this part of the Bible will be fulfilled after Christ return and receive his believers into the kingdom. Can someone give me some insight on this matter? Thank you and God bless you.

JAMES, To further explain the difference between the existing Heaven and the New Heaven is to know man is not pure enough to dwell in God. Thus in verse 3 of Genesis 1 God added the factor of time. In Rev 10 : 6 the New Heaven and Earth ,time will be no more.
  • Illy on Revelation 11 - 4 years ago
James, Chapter 11 is the existing Heaven in time.Take note the ark of the covenant is there. This ark contains truth to man. Chapter 21 is a New Heaven. This is the one we dwell in. We dwell in The Christ John 17. This is why he was born on the Feast of Tabernacles. 40 weeks after Dec 25th. We dwell in Christ. He dwells in the Father

I am puzzled by the reference in Revelation 11:19 when it talks about the temple of God being opened in heaven... and yet, in Revelation 21:22 it says, 'And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.' Any help with this one would be much appreciated!

19-The arc of the testament that holds the 2 stone tablets with the 10 commandments written by the hand of GOD along with the GOD inspired book of the law written by Moses and placed in the arc with the tablets , Deut.31:26, is now in the temple of GOD. In Mal. 3:6, it is written "I am the LORD, I change not." The same can be said about his law. What was written then, we'll be judged by tomorrow.

Many believe that the death of our flesh bodies is the end and that nothing follows. But verse 18 suggests a different outcome. It is written that we are judged after we are dead. Those who served GOD and feared him are rewarded. But those who didn't are destroyed. This is what is called the 2nd death where those who practiced iniquity are thrown into the lake of fire - Rev. 20:14.

In verse 13, the tenth part of the city that fell and the seven thousand slain is the prophetic way of saying that the 7 heads and 10 horns written of in 12:3 or the Gentile nations are destroyed. In verse 15, they are called the kingdoms of this world which become the kingdoms of our Lord.
  • Gary Olsen on Revelation 11 - 5 years ago
The earthquake in verse 13 and 16:18 are the same. The result of this quake is the destruction of the nations. In 11:15, it's written that the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of our Lord. In 16:19, the cities of the nations fall. In verse 20, the mountains were not found. Mountains mean nations. So this quake causes worldwide destruction. This is GOD'S judgment on a sin-filled world.

When the "times of the Gentiles" are fulfilled, verse11, our Lord will send the Holy Spirit to gather the elect of GOD. They shall ascend up to heaven in a cloud, verse 12, while those who have rejected our Lord look on. They will be taken out of harms way when the judgment of GOD falls on those who remain. This is called the rapture by many.

In verses 8,9, the dead bodies lying in our streets are the 2 Testaments of the Bible. These are the 2 witnesses that we have silenced but not yet fully removed from our sight. Those who follow the teachings of the Bible are mocked and scorned. Most of us follow our own ways and rejoice in our freedom from rules and boundaries. No god, no rules so we all do that which is right in our own eyes.

Our Lord said in Matt. 24:36 that no man can know when the end comes. So 1260 may not be a number. It could be a code. 1 means GOD, " Gal. 3:20 GOD is one." 2 means Jesus, because 12 means governmental perfection. 6 means man. O means ordinal perfection. So 1260 could mean GOD and our Lord Jesus will bring governmental perfection to earth and will rule and reign over man in GOD'S perfect timing.

Others have tried to solve the 1260 end of days controversy since the establishment of the state of Israel with similar results. Only GOD knows when the end will come. Has humanity reached an intolerable level of corruption in his eyes that only his final judgment of death and destruction of man and his idols can cleanse this world? Only GOD decides.
  • Gary Olsen on Revelation 11 - 5 years ago
There is no common understanding of what 1260 means. Isaac Newton, the greatest mathematician that ever lived, tried to solve when the end of the world will come calculating from various events in Israel's history but could not come up with a specific time. He decided on 2060 but admitted that the end of days could come sooner than this or later. He proved that there is no one that can know.

The 3 and a half days of verse 9 are 3 and a half years based on the Jewish calendar where each month has 30 days. So 12x30 equals 360x3 equals 1080 plus one half year which is 180. So 1080 plus 180 equals 1260 or the times of the Gentiles written of in Luke 21:24. It is also in verse 2 written as 42 months, 42x30 equals 1260 and in verse 3 and in 12:14 as a time, and times, and half a time.

The 3 1 2 days of verse 9 are 3 1 2 years based on the Jewish calendar where each month has 30 days. 12x30 360x3 1080 1 2 year which is 180. 1080 180 1260 or the times of the Gentiles written of in Luke 21:24. Many believe the domination of the Gentiles over Israel and Jerusalem ended in 1948 when Israel became a nation but the Dome of the Rock still stands on the Temple Mount. The key to the end?
  • Gary Olsen on Revelation 11 - 5 years ago
The 2 witnesses, Old and New Testaments, now lie dead in our streets. The 10 commandments and the cross of Christ are removed from our sight. Only in our churches are the promises of our faith still heard and many of them are empty. Our cities are now spiritually called Sodom where sexual perversions were practiced and Egypt which was given to idolatry. We are Sodom and Egypt. We worship things.
  • Gary Olsen on Revelation 11 - 5 years ago
The bottomless pit is the dark depths of man's evil practices. The Word of God 2 witnesses is in direct opposition to the designs of evil men. Those who taught the Word of God were subject to severe persecution and death at the hands of these men. This is the war that is waged against the righteous. It is the war that continues to this day. Christians around the world are killed for their faith.
  • Gary Olsen on Revelation 11 - 5 years ago
"7 the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit" is Babylon. It isn't the Babylon of long ago that was destroyed. It's the Babylon of today that is very real and thriving. The definition of Babylon is a city devoted to materialism and sensual pleasures which describes cities today. The Babylon of long ago may have been destroyed but it still lives on in the greed and evil practices of men.
  • Gary Olsen on Revelation 11 - 5 years ago
The Old Testament was written by the prophets of GOD and his servants to teach his laws and judgments to all the generations of men. "7 And when they shall have finished their testimony" or witness of GOD'S supreme power, it's time to hear from the 2nd witness. The voices of the 2nd witness or New Testament are John the Baptist, the apostles and our Lord Jesus.
  • Gary Olsen on Revelation 11 - 5 years ago
Our LORD used his prophet Moses to bring his plagues of judgment against Egypt. His 1st plague was to turn the waters of Egypt to blood- Ex.7:19. GOD brought 9 other plagues against Egypt before they finally freed the Hebrews from their bondage-Ex.8-12. The prophets are the witnesses of GOD that he will bring his plagues of judgment against all, whether man or nation who refuse to follow his laws.

The two witnesses are Moses and Elijah.
  • Gary Olsen on Revelation 11 - 5 years ago
Elijah prophesied in " 1 Kings 17:1 As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word." After 3 years, the word of GOD came to Elijah, "18:1 Go, shew thyself unto Ahab and I will send rain upon the earth." This is the prophet Elijah witnessing that GOD controls the weather and can use it to bless or punish men.
