    (Revelation Part 8b):

    Revelation 1:10 Continued

So, they started gathering together in homes privately on Sunday. As a matter of fact, the term the Lord's day did not apply to Sunday until between 200 and 400 A.D. It became more prominent when Constantine in 313 A.D., because he hated the Jews, the Hebrew people, he changed the Lord's day from Saturday to Sunday just to get back at them. So, Sunday was not referred to as the Lord's day until around the 300 A.D mark. It was somewhere between 200 and 400 A.D. before anybody began to use it for that particular purpose.

The scriptures tell us that this is an Old Testament term for the day of the Lord, or Lord's day, and it is a reference to the day of judgment. This is the Lord's day. Right now, it is man's day. And people say, "God's not going to judge anybody." But God has His day coming. It is called the Lord's day in Isaiah 2:12, and Zephaniah 1:14-16.

Even Paul, in 1 Thessalonians 5:2, he used that Jewish phrase from the Old Testament, and says that the day of the Lord is going to come as a thief in the night. But you don't have to worry because you're children of light. Peter also, in 2 Peter 3:10 used the same phrase as the day of judgment of God.

So, putting these two phrases together in Verse 10, I was in spirit on the Lord's day, the day of judgment, is that while physically and geographically he's on the island of Patmos, in the spirit realm, he was caught up to see the Lord's day, the day of judgment, when God brings judgment to the earth.

Now keep this in perspective because when he's caught up in Spirit to see the Lord's day, this period of judgment, he is going to see the future happen before it happens, while it's happening. In the spirit, he saw everything from where he's at, all the way to the end, and what's going to happen at the end. But it hasn't happened yet!

    (Revelation Part 8a):

Revelation 1:10 - I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

Then he says I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day. The phrase "I was in the Spirit," in the King James translation, Spirit is capitalized to indicate the Holy Spirit. In the Greek text, there is no word "the." There's no definite article. And the spirit is understood to be not the Holy Spirit, but the spirit realm. And we'll see that throughout the book, he was caught up in spirit.

And you might say doesn't that take the Holy Spirit? Yes! But the understanding is that this is the spirit realm. He says I was caught up in the spirit on the Lord's day. And here goes all the arguments again. Many people believe this is Sunday that this happened.

I'll share with you a little historical background here, and this is one of those topics that cause a lot of debate. In the bible, Sunday is never called the Lord's day. When Jesus rose from the dead, it was called the first day of the week. When the disciples gathered together in the early church, it was called the first day of the week.

In 1 Corinthians 16:2, Paul says that when you gather together the first day of the week, bring your collection of money and have it stored up so that when I come it will be ready. The Jews still met on the Sabbath Day which is Saturday, Friday 6 o'clock to Saturday 6 o'clock.

But the believers met on Sunday, and the reason why they did, at least originally, is because that was the day the Lord was raised from the dead, and that was the day the Lord manifested Himself to the disciples, that Sunday night.

    (Revelation Part 7b):

    Revelation 1:9 Continued

Well, how would you like to be a 90 plus year old man out here on this island under hard labor? John knows what he's talking about. This is the God that he serves, and the God that he's presenting, in order to be an encouragement to them.

He says I also am a companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ. So that's what he's telling them. The kingdom of God comes in patience and endurance. That's the kind of kingdom that we belong to.

He says I was in the island that is called Patmos, and again, history tells us that he was there from 86 to 96 A.D.

There are actually 50 islands off the west coast of Asia there, and Patmos is one of them. It is 10 miles long and 6 miles wide. And it's approximately 50 miles from the mainland. So, he's out there!

And then he gives the reason why he's there: for the word of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Now in the Greek text, it says this is the basis for him being there, not the reason that put him there. He says they put me here as a prisoner, but I'm here for the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. That's what I'm here for.

    (Revelation Part 7a):

Revelation 1:9 - I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

He says, I John, who also am your brother, and remember he's writing to the seven churches of Asia, and I am also your companion in tribulation,

Now that Greek word is different than the word used for the Tribulation Period. This is the affliction of the persecution the church was going through. And he's telling them, I am your brother, and I am your fellow participant in the persecutions that you're going through. I'm going through the same ones.

I think it's interesting in how that God uses people in a very powerful way through the circumstances that they're in.

Can you imagine, John's writing to these people who are suffering in prison for their faith, or even being put to death for their faith?

And they're probably thinking who is he? He's in his 90's, and he's going to be stuck for 10 years over on an island doing hard labor working in the mines. He's an apostle. He probably gets to sit in his comfortable office and write letters. But we get beaten!

    Dear Ronald,

You write,"Do the titles Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the ending, which all have the same meaning, apply only to God?"

It applies to the eternal God not for himself but for man. Fellowship of God with Man implies the Father Son relationship." I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee." David said being inspired by the Holy Spirit. What is the day, is it millennium or 24 hour period? None of this. The day is a decree where man created after our image and after our likeness' is set in motion. In the beginning was the Word that is the Law. 'For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.' So Alpha and Omega applies to Jesus Christ who is the visible image of invisible God. The Word was with God refers to the Man shall be sent to the world so only begotten Son applies to him. Before Abraham was, I am.'

    2.

Does the new creation, of which Jesus is the head, warrant these titles? Are these the words of Jesus or of God the Father, who gave this revelation in Revelation 1:8 Jesus who was in the bosom of God has declared. " I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." Jesus says, "I and my Father are one'. The Spirit sets these visions so whether the Father or the Son is irrelevant.

If any is in Christ he is a new creation which fills up two worlds. He is in heavenly places, 'abiding in Christ' so at one end we have 'spiritual body' a building of God while we walk in our vile bodies, not by sight but by faith.

    Hey Bennymkje,

That's okay about the name; I wrote that I understand you, and many on this site believe Jesus is God, for the reason this subject can be offensive to some, and I do not want to offend anyone. I agree, truth only comes to us with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus was baptized and anointed with the Holy Spirit without measure, as He said all He said and all the works that were done, it was the Father, not Him. Jesus was clear that only the Father knows the time when Jesus will return, and yes, we are to watch to be ready, not trying to predict a time or date, as many have done.

Do the titles Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the ending, which all have the same meaning, apply only to God? Do we let the red letters that some Bible interpreters have used influence us? Does the new creation, of which Jesus is the head, warrant these titles? Are these the words of Jesus or of God the Father, who gave this revelation in Revelation 1:8?

Revelation is a book that can only be studied with the Holy Spirit; it is not written in chronological order. There are things that God has not revealed, and we must not try to fill in, because it warns us against adding to or taking away from this prophecy.

"And he is before all things, and by him all things consist." (Col.1.17). Yes, Jesus, in God's plan is the beginning of the creation of God, Revelation 3:14. All was created in Him and for Him, and the purpose of God and His counsel shall stand, Isaiah 46:10.

    God bless,

    Hi Jesse,

I won't say much, as this has been discussed before. "Revelation" is the Greek word "apokalupsis," which means the unveiling of that which has not been revealed before. It states that God gave this to Jesus to reveal it to His servants, and He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John.

This was not known to Jesus before God revealed it to Him, just like the day when Jesus will return has not yet been revealed. All the signs and wonderful and horrifying things that John saw were said and shown to him by this angel. Just like the burning bush and Moses, it was an angel of the Lord ( Exodus 3:2).

I understand you and many on this site believe Jesus is God, but if He is, why would God have to give this to Jesus? Scripture tells us we must believe Jesus is the Son of God who died for us and paid the penalty for sin. As in Revelation 1:17-18 it is said, "Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

God is eternal and cannot die. Jesus did. After God raised Jesus from the dead, making Him the first begotten of the dead, God placed Him above all that is in heaven, earth, and under the earth. Jesus did not have full authority of the throne until He was resurrected. We see something similar with what Pharaoh did with Joseph in Genesis 41:38-44.

Scripture tells us Jesus will reign until all enemies are under His feet, 1 Corinthians 15:25-28. We see this in Revelation 20:14, when death and the grave, the last enemy, are cast into the lake of fire. Then the new heaven and new earth, when the new city Jerusalem is placed on the new earth.

Sorry, brother, I know we differ, but I was compelled to reply, I hope you understand. Thank you for all you do.

    God bless,

    (Revelation Part 6):

Revelation 1:8 - I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, says the Lord. Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. As it says here, it is the beginning of the alphabet, and the end of the alphabet. It is interesting that if you've ever studied the Hebrew sages and their interest in the beginning and end of the alphabet, but in between those two, you have all the letters you need to express and put things into words and communicate with.

So, they put a lot of emphasis on the alphabet. God is said to be the Alpha and Omega. He is the beginning of everything, and He is the end of everything. But that's only one meaning. By using the first and last letters of the alphabet, it's also saying He's everything else in between. He's everything that you can put into words about creation and God.

He's everything. He's at the beginning of everything, at the end of everything, and He's everything in between! But then he repeats. After He says I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, He adds the phrase the Almighty.

I just went over this. That's from God the Father up in Verse 4. Now Jesus is saying it. Very interesting! Jesus says I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, the one who is, and was, and is to come. I am the almighty. Wow! If someone says that Jesus never said He was God, they should read the book of Revelation!

    (Revelation Part 5):

Revelation 1:6 - And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

And made us kings and priests unto God and His Father; three things. Now again, notice it says he made us kings and priests. The fulfillment is in Exodus 19:6. God gives the promise that He's going to make Israel a kingdom of priests for Him.

In 1 Peter 2:5, Peter quotes that for the Jews. Again, this is all within the Jewish Literature section. The Gentiles are never called kings and priests. When Jesus reigns on the earth after His second coming, Jewish believers will be working the temple as priests, not Gentiles.

Then it says to Him be glory and dominion, and the word dominion is the word KRATOS, which means grip. It shows the one who is in control. To Him is glory and control for ever and ever. Amen.

    (Revelation Part 4c):

    Revelation 1:4 Continued

    So here, John says from the one who is, and who was, and who is coming; the I AM, the eternally existing one. That's God the Father. And then it says, and from the seven Spirits which are before His, that is, God's throne;

There are two schools of thought. Remember the number seven doesn't necessarily mean there are seven Spirits. Seven represents completeness, perfection. The Jews take it as a Hebraism. RASHI, one of the greatest Jewish scholars uses Isaiah 11:1-2 to show that what John is using is a Hebraism to denote the seven-fold Spirit of God. It means the Spirit of God is complete and perfect.

But what specifically is he making reference to? In Revelation 4:5, we see the same thing when we study what the throne is like in heaven. It says and out of the throne proceed lightnings, and thunderings, and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

In Revelation Chapter 5, the chapter where we see this scroll with seven seals on it, which is the title deed to the earth. And the call goes out who is worthy to take the scroll and loosen the seals thereof. And no one was found worthy in heaven. And John began to weep. And he was told don't weep; the Lamb of God is worthy.

And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent forth into all the earth.

The seven eyes of Christ are the seven Spirits. So, it represents completeness, perfection. But its application is to the Lord's seeing. You see, he's talking about the all-encompassing Spirit who sees all things and knows all things. That's the way the Jews understood it. For scripture reference, Zechariah 4:10 talks about these seven eyes, meaning that God sees perfectly and completely all things. So, John is using a Hebraism here.

    (Revelation Part 4b):

    Revelation 1:4 Continued

And so that's why in the scriptures, as we were going through the gospels, I pointed out to you that whenever Jesus would say to people I AM, and of course the translators of the bible put "he" in italics to complete the sentence, only Jesus wasn't saying a sentence. He was saying the name of God, I AM!

For instance, in the garden, when the soldiers came to take Jesus to be crucified, they came with clubs and swords, and their lanterns at night to take Him. But once they got to Him, He said who are you looking for? They said Jesus of Nazareth. And Jesus said I AM, and they all fell over. So, then they get up and brush themselves off, and He says now who are you looking for?

What did He just do? He showed them that they are attempting to take the great I AM of God. And He could have just walked out. But like He says in John Chapter 10, He is voluntarily laying down His life for the sheep. He says nobody takes my life; I lay it down myself! He was showing them, you've come out to take me, but I'm setting the record straight that I'm volunteering to go. You can't take me.

But several times He would say I AM. When the Jews argued about their relationship with Abraham, Jesus said before Abraham was, I AM. They knew what that meant. But notice what God said to Moses, I AM that I AM. There are two meanings that He's presenting, and you can see this carried over into the New Testament.

First of all, the first I AM literally means the eternally existent one, the eternal one. He always is. That's why He can say I AM before you were. He always is. He is eternal! Secondly, He is unchangeable. To the Hebrew mind, I AM that I AM is the God who is eternal and unchangeable, always the same, and it's always now. There is no past, and there is no future for God. Wherever God's stationed, so to speak, outside of this time/space domain that we live in, it's always now. He is always I AM, the eternal, unchangeable God.

    (Revelation Part 4a):

    Revelation 1:4 - John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

He says, John to the seven churches which are in Asia. The Lord is giving messages specifically for these seven. But they are not the only churches in these areas. It's interesting that each one of these cities is the head of the postal district in that area. These are the main cities within their districts. There were other churches around, but the Lord picked out seven. And again, each church has its own problems, and each church has its own good points.

But everybody's church today has some of these things in it. In fact, if you put them all together, you would have the complete seven messages to the church before Christ comes back.

And then he gives the normal greeting, Grace to you, and peace. Grace is the greeting to the Greeks, and peace is the greeting to the believing Jews. Now this is what gets interesting, who the grace and peace is from. We actually have God the Father, God the Spirit, and God the Son represented in John's presentation.

And he gives us a Jewish point of view as to the name and person of God. And I think you might find this interesting, and it might answer some questions. It says, from Him which is, and which was, and which is to come; literally in the Greek text, it's the one who is, the one who was, and the one who is coming. It's all one person!

To the Jews, that is a designation of God. It is an expanded paraphrase of the name of God that God gave to Moses back in Exodus 3:14. And God said unto Moses, and remember that Moses said when I go to Pharaoh, who do I say sent me? What's your name? God said unto Moses, I AM that I AM. And He says thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me to you.

    (Revelation Part 3e):

    Revelation 1:3 Continued

The last line of the introduction says, for the time is at hand, literally, the time is near. The end time is near. And if you follow the teachers of prophecy, you'll know that we are getting closer and closer to that time that is mentioned for us in the future tribulation in Revelation 4:1. But until Christ comes, we as believers are to heed to the teachings in the book of Revelation. It comes straight from Jesus Christ. And we are not to add to it or take away from it.

If a person comes along and claims to have a prophecy from God that's not in scripture, a prophecy or a message from God, that person is putting his prophecy and message equal to the bible if it's true, because if he received this message from God, then it's the word of God.

And that's where God says no! God is through speaking, as far as adding to and revealing further things, more than what the scriptures reveal. Revelation Chapter 22 says don't add to the prophecy of the book. It's the last book of the bible. That's why it is there.

But secondly, even if you don't go by that, every single person that might tell me that they are a "modern day prophet," I would tell them that everything they say is equal to the bible if it's the word of God. For some reason, they will not go that far!

But that's what they're doing. If they have a "message from God," then it's God's word. They'll present it as God's word, but not equal to the bible. Well, that's what the bible is. The bible is God's word! So, you have to be careful. God has given us a safeguard. He's given us the inspiration of His truth in written form so that we can know what is of Him and what isn't.

    (Revelation Part 3d):

    Revelation 1:3 Continued

So, he says there's a warning there. If you take the words, and if any man shall add to these things, God shall add the plagues that are written in it. But if you take away from it, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

I've heard of professing Christians in the past who have been told by their church that the bible has created more division and more confusion among Christians than anything. And they are told that you need to put the bible away and just trust on prophets who will be within the church. And they will get messages from God, and then they will stand up and give the messages from the Lord for our day, and for our church. But just stay away from the bible!

According to the book of Revelation, this is the final prophecy of God. Don't let anybody fool you, or deceive you, or kid you. When prophets come along after John delivers the book of Revelation, and they claim to have a prophecy from God, and it is not in the scripture, it is false!

And many are being deceived today by the deceptive persuasion that "It's the same today that it was in Paul's day, except in Paul's day, he only knew a little bit. His understanding was limited. And we have better revelation today, so don't worry about what Paul said."

Or, "Don't worry about the fact that what I just taught you was opposite of what Paul said, because he really didn't have that much information. We have better revelation in our day." But what did Paul say? He said if anybody preaches any other gospel than that which I have preached, let him be accursed.

So, there will be persuasive prophets, and persuasive people coming along in order to cause people to listen to "their message that they're getting from God," vs. what the scripture says. We have to be careful about those things!

    (Revelation Part 3c):

    Revelation 1:3 Continued

And so, it's very interesting. Blessed is the one who is reading, those who are hearing, and those who are guarding the things that are written in this book. And again, this is a continuous habit, a continuous practice of reading and hearing. But notice that it's called prophecy, they that hear the words of this prophecy.

Now this is very important. The book of Revelation is called prophecy. Words is plural, but prophecy singular. But this book is called prophecy. The word prophecy comes from the word prophet that just means to be a spokesperson for God. Not on your own, but rather to speak God's word. Like the prophets of old, they would foretell. They would tell about the future.

But the prophets of the New Testament, especially around the time of John in the mid 90's A.D., it wasn't foretelling, it was forth-telling, telling forth the word of God, taking the book and ministering the word of God. But it's interesting that as we get into the end of Revelation, the last Chapter, there's actually promises and warnings.

In Revelation 22:18-19, he says for I testify unto every man that hears the words of the prophecy of this book, and again, Revelation is called prophecy, if any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

That's pretty serious! As I mentioned at the beginning, the book of Revelation is God's final prophecy and His final message to His church before He comes back. He wants the church to be focused on His message to them. We get that message in Chapters 2 and 3, His instruction to the church before He returns.

    (Revelation Part 3b):

    Revelation 1:3 Continued

Now the great thing about it was Tychicus, and some of the others that took dictation from Paul, whoever took the dictation, they were the ones who delivered the letter to these churches so that the leaders in the churches could take the letter and read it.

And you've got the amanuensis, the person who took the dictation right there if you had any questions. "What did Paul mean by this? What did he mean by that?" You see, you've got someone there to explain it. Well, when Tychicus and the others, when they go back, and they leave the letter, they now have an explanation as to what the letter means.

But that church has one letter. They didn't have bibles to go home and read the letter when they got home. The only way that you could hear the word of God is to go to the fellowship and have the person read the word while people listened. And I think it's interesting that in those days, they didn't have bibles, and they were limited to whatever letters Paul or anybody else sent that particular church, or letters that were circulating in that area.

They didn't have the whole New Testament like what we have, so they would get together and they would read the letter, over, and over, and over again. They would receive testimony from traveling itinerate preachers who Paul and Timothy, and the others would send out, with some of the messages and teachings about Jesus Christ.

And for a church to get a hold of one of the gospels, wow! That was feasting to them. They might have their own letter that Paul gave to them, but to get Luke's gospel, or the book of Acts, wow! You have to realize that as generations went on of believers, they didn't even know these books existed. They didn't even know those things happened. How are they going to know unless the letter is circulated in their area?

    (Revelation Part 3a):

Revelation 1:3 - Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

First of all, to the one who's reading, and I want to point out three things:

Number 1: It is singular. To he that readeth. It's the one who is reading. And the word reading is a Present Participle which means continuously as a habit, not just one time.

Secondly: And the ones hearing the words of this prophecy. Notice two things. It's plural. And the word hearing is a Present Participle, continuously hearing the word, and the words of this prophecy.

Thirdly: These same ones who are keeping those things which are written therein. The word keeping is one of those guard terms, prisoner terms. PHULASSO is the guard who's guarding the prisoner from getting out. And there's another type of guard, TEREO, who is guarding influences coming in from the outside to take the prisoner.

This is that last one, TEREO. It's the person who's continually guarding against things coming in from the world, and from their life, to take them away from the influences and the meaning of the things in the book of Revelation. It means we're constantly on guard concerning things that would take us away from the things of Christ.

Now it's interesting, and I'll mention this first before I talk about the word prophecy. In the early church days, even some 60 years after the death of Christ and His resurrection and ascension, the churches met in homes, anywhere from 10 to 15 people per home.

And they would read the letter that was sent to that church, or any other writings that they could get their hands on from Paul. There was only one copy per church. And they would have somebody reading this letter to everyone.

    (Revelation Part 2):

Revelation 1:1 - The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him, that's Christ, to show to His servants things which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified it by His angel unto His servant John:

There are actually 4 steps mixed in there:

God gave it to Christ, Christ gave it to His angel, which is very interesting. The angel gives the revelation to John, in order for John to give it to the servants of God. The reason for it was to show His servants what things must shortly come to pass.

The word must in the Greek text (DEI) means divinely bound. These things are designed by God, and they must happen.

Secondly, the word shortly (TACHEI). This is not shortly as far as it's coming up quick, but rather when happens, it is going to happen quickly. It's going to take place in a short time.

And He sent and signified it. The word signified means to express or present something in symbols and signs. So, God gave it to Christ, Christ to His angel, the angel to John, and from John to the Lord's servants who are serving in these churches.

    Hi JackyBleeker.

I believe for a Christian to glorify God is the way we humble ourselves and let the Spirit of God transform us so that from the outside looking in onlookers glorify God for his obvious work in us.

In Revelation 1:12-20 we see the Church identified as the candlesticks ( which is literally lampstands.)

Lampstands are filled with oil, "representing the Holyspirit"

    That's what we are. lampstands.

The lampstands shine there light on the one in the midst of them. The Lord Jesus Christ!

The light is not to give glory to the lampstands, it shines on Christ.

Matthew 5:16 reads "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Glorifying God is when people can look at a Christian and see that he's a follower of Christ and give God all the glory for what he's done in that person's life. He shows that God is active in his life and true to his word.

    I hope this helps.

    God bless.

    (1 Timothy Part 19):

1 Timothy 4:13 - Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

He says until I come, give attendance, and that is what is called a Present Imperative, meaning continue to do this. Give attendance to three things:

Number one: to reading. This is to public reading of the scriptures. There are two different Greek words for reading. This is the one for public reading of the scriptures. It's the same word found in Revelation 1:3, the blessing upon the person who reads and those who listen to the reading of this prophecy, meaning the book of Revelation.

To exhortation, that is encouragement from the scriptures. And thirdly: to doctrine, or teaching. So do the public reading of scripture, encourage people to respond, and teach them the scriptures continuously.

1 Timothy 4:15 - Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

Meditate upon these things; again, a Present Imperative, meaning continue to meditate on all these things that you're being nourished by.

Interesting about the profiting. This is the purpose for which we stay in the word. Other people should see spiritual progress in our life. What he's saying is that here is the purpose. Continue, stay in the word, that your progress in the Lord will be evident to everyone.

1 Timothy 4:16 - Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

The word save in this text has many different meanings. It's the word for salvation, which means delivered from one thing to another. It's also used for physical healing in the bible. It's also used for preservation, and that's the way Paul uses it here in this verse.

By continuing in the doctrine, you will both preserve yourself as a believer, and those that hear you.

What is the second coming of Jesus Christ ? ? The only way to answer this question is to read the scriptures. Jesus Christ was on earth for 33 years and He died on the cross for all our sins. Now Jesus Christ will come again to land on earth, but before He lands, He will call us up, all the grace age church, dead or alive to meet him in the Clouds , it's called the Rapture.

This is the second coming of events of Jesus Christ.

    Matthew 13:38-40

    38The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

39The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

40As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

    Revelation 1:7

Behold, hecomethwithclouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

    Jude 1:14

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

The wicked will be taken out first . That is the the Rapture event.

    Matthew 13:41-42

    41The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

42And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Peter never speaks of the Rapture, only the second coming of Jesus Christ inwhich is the Tribulation.

    2 Peter 3:10

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

    Part 2.

This is speaking about the 7 years of tribulation after the Rapture is already passed. The wicked one will be taken and thrown in fire by angels . This is different from the Rapture. Only Apostle Paul speaks of the Rapture or Gathering.

    Matthew 13:38-40

    38The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

    Matthew 13:41-42

    41The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

42And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

    2 Peter 3:10

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

    Daniel 9:27

27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Did Jesus died on the cross? Is Jesus body still in the ground? Did Jesus really died for all our Sins ? Is Jesus in the Third Heaven right now ?

Some people just are plain confused about Jesus and who He is. Jesus Christ made Salvation easy to believe and requires nothing else .

Jesus Christ was the first to be resurrected from the dead.

    1 Corinthians 15:20

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become thefirstfruits of them that slept.

Jesus Christ is the first and the last . Jesus Christ is God Almighty in the third Heaven.

    Revelation 1:18

"I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."

Note: Jesus died for our sins in his our blood, and rose from the dead again three days in the power of God. We should all remember his death . . . but now, Jesus is Alive . . . Amen .

Ray, in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 there is no repentance in these verses, just believe only .

2 Esdras 15:46-49 and Revelation 17: 5 are identical descriptions of Rome.

Asia in this Context is Asian Minor which at the time of writing was held by Rome and is also identified as Asia in Revelation 1:4

Mystery Babylon is the Roman Empire, 2 Esdras above is speaking about Constantinople which the Ottoman Turks vanquished. The Roman Empire at the time contained the cities of the 7 churches in Revelation 1 and 2. Those 7 churches were cities within the Roman Empire at the time of writing.

Just as the Bride of Christ as a woman is a church, so too is the Whore and the Harlot daughters. The Bride of Christ is the true Church. The Whore and the Harlot daughters are false churches. They take the name of Christ, but they don't follow the Commandments of God. Specifically, they reject the 4th Commandment and in doing so they break all of the others too.

    Luke 6:46

"And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"

    Matthew 15:9

"But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."

    Mark 7:8

"For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do."

    Isaiah 4:1

And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

These Harlots and the Whore wear polluted Spiritual clothing. They eat Spiritually polluted bread. (They taint and serve polluted teaching as if it were the word of God) They claim to be Christian, but are Christian in name only, because they reject God's Commandments and teach doctrine of men in it's place. Those 7 women are the churches in Revelation 1 and 2. That man is Jesus Christ. The Whore is the Roman Catholic Church and the Harlot daughters are the churches that broke away, IE. Protestant, Baptist, etc... All keep Sunday rather than Saturday as Commanded and practice pagan rites/idolatry.

Just some thoughts on Revelation 12 it covers the past and the future up to the beginning of the 3.5 years of tribulation.

    Part 3

Satan then goes after the remnant of her seed those who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. The remnant of her seed is the faithful people here when the tribulation starts. Like the ones before us who have been persecuted and killed, the fathers and prophets, and after Jesus the thousands upon thousands who have been tortured and killed in the name of Jesus, why would the last be spared when the first was not?

This starts the 3.5 years of tribulation as we see in Revelation 13, in the original text it is Satan standing on the sand of the sea to give his power, his seat, and great authority to the beast. We see in Rev. 11:7 and Rev. 17:8 that this is the bottomless pit. There are not seven years as some say we see when Satan is cast down and the beast rises, he is given only 42 months, and that is 3.5 years Revelation 13:5. It all starts when Satan is cast down the short time he has is 3.5 years.

The end of the 3.5 years will be when the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled, Luke 21:24 Romans 11:25 Revelation 11:2. Then the second coming of Jesus, Matthew 24:29-31 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 Revelation 1:7 Revelation 3:11 Revelation 19:11-16 Revelation 22:12.

Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

This is what is coming, everyone will be tempted to take the mark of the beast, Jesus will give us if we are here the strength to say no even if we face death. Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. Revelation 15:2

    Revelation 1:8

"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."

    Revelation 1:8 Context

5And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 7Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. 9I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 10I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

WE ARE IN LAST FIVE SECONDS OF THE 12 HOUR. LORD JESUS COME.....

    Hey Brother Chris,

I don't believe that Momsage was directing that to me. She is aware that I do not read the NIV, so sending me the history of it would be of no benefit to me. I know she has mentioned that she's not very good at posting yet, so maybe she meant to begin a new thread? I don't know if that's the case, but I don't think what she posted was intended for me personally.

As for Revelation 22:18-19, I am also in the camp of those who believe John is referring to the book of Revelation. Going back to Chapter 1 where John is told to write the things he saw. John got to see prophecy unfold (as it was happening, I believe) and he was told to write what he saw. He ends with the warning not to add to the prophecy of the book he wrote.

What's interesting to note is that in Revelation 1:3, it says, "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand." Now here's something that I think is very important. The book of Revelation is called prophecy. Words is plural, but prophecy singular.

But this book is called prophecy. The book of Revelation is God's final prophecy, and final message to His church before He comes back. Revelation Chapter 22 says don't add to the prophecy of the book. It's the last book of the bible. That's why it is there. It is the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Just think about all these "Modern day Prophets" proclaiming that God gave them "new" prophecy. We're not to even go there!

    God Bless!!!

Similarities in God's angels and redeemed man

The word for "angel" apparently means messenger or Pastor in Revelation 1:20; and OR it refers to an angel over a church. I tend to defer to the idea that it means both; as clearly the Spirit leaves a church where the "candlestick" is removed. That would mean whatever other angels of God were hanging out for whatever purposes ministering wouldn't be likely to stick around either except perhaps for a few individuals who hold to the faith. This gives us concern; of course with a good Pastor being removed or a bad one remaining. Oftentimes it seems a leader is good then turns rogue; particularly today.

Revelation 19:10 states At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Don't do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus."

Revelation 22:9 But he said to me, "Don't do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your fellow prophets and with all who keep the words of this scroll. Worship God!"

These verses along with others in the Old Testament show that angels of the Lord don't wish to be worshipped. All glory goes to God. They will normally appear as men; hence the saying in Hebrews 13:2 on entertaining angels unaware.

Although not redeemed as man is; those angels that remained true also are about the Father's business as Jesus was and all of us are supposed to be doing. They are no doubt awesome and greater than us; but are fighting battles on our behalf in heavenly places. We see this principal in Daniel 10:13-21 with the Prince of Persia being held back for 21 days. This intersects and corresponds with the time Daniel had been praying and fasting. It shows how the great men of God would have important top ranking angels involved in these conflicts.
