    Hi Cindy

There are two pits, one pit is the same as hell these two are the grave, Job.17:16 They shall go down to the bars of the pit when our rest together is in the dust. Psalms 30:9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? Psalms16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. We see in Revelation death and hell are cast into the lake of fire there is no more need of the grave (hell), for there will be no more death. Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

The other is the bottomless pit, this is where the angels that left their first estate are and where Satan will be chained and sealed. This is where the beast will ascend from. Jude.1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Rev.17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Many think of heaven and hell as a place people go after this fleshly death the first death. Heaven for the saved and hell for the damned. This has crept in from the Pagan religions starting from the Hellenistic times Christianity started and continued in traditions. I believe the lake of fire is not on this earth because people are still on earth when the beast and the false prophet were cast in. I believe the Bible teaches the saved and damned sleep in the dust until the resurrection when this mortal puts on immortality. I hope this does not offend anyone but I feel this is what the scriptures say.

    God bless us, Ron

    Darrin,

Feeling to reply to your post. I'm not sure what you mean in the first paragraph.

I am replying to your second paragraph. Now, believing "everyone gets everlasting life" is a nice thought and I myself do not want anyone to go to eternal damnation. Just as God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked and wants all to repent from the sins of this world and turn to Him through His Son Jesus Christ. I pray every night for everyone. Even the wicked people in this world just as the good. This does not mean "everyone gets everlasting life" or "no one gets cast into the lake of fire". God is Love but God is also just, pure, holy, righteous and hates sin. Full of everlasting mercy and lovingkindness for you and me. There is only One Judge and we will all be repaid, and held accountable, for our deeds here in this life. What will exactly happen after death I can not tell you. Though I will do my best to live a holy life, separate myself from the sins of this world, produce good fruit of the Spirit, and live for the Will of God to make Him happy. There is a difference of what is good and what is bad. Doing my best to follow in the footsteps of Christ so that I can be sure my name will be in the Book of Life. And not just guess. This is not just me saying this it is over and over in Scripture.

Here are a couple Scriptures that states the lake of fire is for more than just "3 spirits" as you assumed. Also that not everyone shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. If you have problems with these Scriptures I pray the Lord shall Bless you with understanding and truth.

    Matthew 7:21-23

    Matthew 25:31-46

    Revelation 20:11-15

Maybe read the book of Jude. Read through all the Holy Scriptures for wisdom. That your soul shall be saved.

    God Bless.

I literally believe what is written in the Book of Revelation. To put a 2021 spin on it, is misleading to people. There's much to read in chapters 13-16. God gives a blessing every time a person reads Revelation.

    Revelation 19:20

And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, AND THEM that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

    Revelation 13:17

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

    Revelation 14:9

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

    Revelation 14:11

And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

    Revelation 16:2

And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.

    Revelation 20:4

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Mishael: I asked the Holy Spirit if people can ACCIDENTALLY get the Mark of the Beast? He said NO. People will get it willingly, in order to eat, live & take care of their families.

The Marked person has no more chance to recant and be saved. Chopping off the hand will not remove the death sentence of getting the Mark.

This is now. Roman history is not helpful really.

Isaiah 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, TOGETHER WITH MY DEAD BODY SHALL THEY ARISE......

This prophecy is three fold, Christ promises the (called out) saints of the old testament and the (called out) saints of the new testament along with (HIS) dead body would RISE TOGETHER.

Hebrews 11:16 But now they (saints of old) desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called there God: for he hath prepared them a (HOLY) CITY. The one in Matthew 27:53

Hebrews 11:39-40 And these all (saints of old), having obtained a good report through faith, RECEIVED NO THE PROMISE (eternal life, it would be given to them at Christ resurrection).

    (40) God having provided some better thing for us (the called out of the new testament will never see death, we were resurrected with Christ), that they (saints of old) without us (new saints) should not be made perfect (image of Christ, who only hath immortality, [eternal life] 1 Timothy 6:16).

Luke 20:36 Neither can they (the called out) die any more (they [WE ARE SIN] died with Christ on the cross, were buried and arose with him): for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, BEING THE CHILDREN OF THE RESURRECTION.

Revelation 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. THIS IS THE FIRST RESURRECTION.

Psalms 103:20 Bless the Lord, YE HIS ANGELS, that excel in strength, that do his commandments,

You quoted Joel 3:2, do you think the war in the valley of Jehoshaphat is the spiritual warfare spoken of by Paul, or are you of the opinion it is natural. The Spirit has led me to believe it spiritual war. I know by previous comments you understand that the elect will judge the world. What has the Spirit revealed to you about this judgement. The Spirit has revealed to me that THE BOOKS ( Revelation 20:12) or symbolic of the ones judging. The Spirit has put a great hunger and thirst in me to study and understand the prophecies. You understand that the Spirit is assembling a nation of priest and judges. The Spirit has revealed to me that this nation of priest will judge and bring to truth all those raised after these elect have been gathered. Isaiah 66:14-24, 1 Timothy 4:10, Psalms 22:27 Paul taught for two years the kingdom of heaven out of the law and prophets. Acts 28:23-31, Luke 16:31 I love reading the comments of those the SPIRIT IS WORKING in to bring ALL to HIS TRUTH.

Barbara, may the Spirit grace you with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding. The traditions of man has distorted the true gospel. The traditions of man teaches heaven is a natural place with natural streets, natural buildings, natural walls and we exist much like we exist now; but the word of God teaches heaven is a person in a glorified body with no need for streets or houses or any thing existing in a natural state.

John 3:13 No man has ascended up to heaven, but he (Christ in the same glorified body he existed in as Jehovah in the old testament) that came down from heaven (and became flesh), even the Son of man which is in heaven (now back in the glorified body he had before).

Let's try to comprehend what is depicted as (spiritual) heaven (where the Spirit dwells).

1 Corinthians 3:17 Know ye not that ye are the TEMPLE OF GOD, and the SPIRIT OF GOD dwelleth in you.

Isaiah 66:1 Thus saith the Lord (the Father), The heaven is my throne, and the earth (dust, flesh) is my footstool: where is the house that ye (Christ) build unto me? and where is the place of my (SPIRIT) rest?

Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord (Christ) build the house, they labour in vain .....

Hebrews 3:6 But Christ as a Son over his own house, whose house we are....

Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I overcame and am sit down with my Father in his throne.

John 17:21 That they ALL MAY BE ONE as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that THEY also may be ONE in us.....

1 Timothy 6:16 Who (CHRIST) only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto....

1 Corinthians 15:52-54 In a Moment....Death is swallowed up in victory.

Isaiah 26:19 Thy dead men (we are dead in our trespasses) shall Live, TOGETHER WITH MY (CHRIST) DEAD BODY SHALL THEY ARISE....

Revelation 20:5 .....This is the FIRST RESURRECTION.

Luke 20:34-36 .....Being the CHILDREN OF THE RESURRECTION.

Hi Marilyn, Evil didn't start in Eden, Isaiah 45:7, I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. I think you are meaning "The tree of KNOWLEDGE of good and evil" Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. What happened to man wants he ate of that tree? Genesis 3:7, And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were "NAKED"; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. naked in the bible often expresses sin exposed, and garments often expresses righteousness. Some would say Adam and Eve was clothed with light before the fall, The question is when did they become naked/sinful? When they bit of the fruit? I believe eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil revealed their nakedness to them, The issue was what they did afterwards, "clothed themselves". Their fall was no surprise to God, he set forth the plan of redemption before the world begun, 1st Peter 1:18-20. Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world. The scripture says by one man sin entered the world, not evil. I believe there is a difference between the two by means of definition. Apart from the Holy Spirit man is flesh and lost in the wilderness, and easy prey for Satan. In the millennium man will have a thousand years in the best conditions to evolve with Satan chained up, and prove himself. but after all those years of practice here is what happens. Revelation 20:7-8, And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth. THKS

    Betty,

There are no temporary Christians. At the point you trust Christ to have paid for your sins, you are forgiven of all sins, past, present and future.I liken salvation to a person who is crossing a busy road.At some point between the curbs the person is suddenly hurled forward and out of the road. When they turn back to see what has happened, they find that someone has pushed them out of the path of a vehicle that would surely have killed them.Where they were,is the body of that person who gave his life for them.Recognizing that person was gracious to them and saved them, they want to know more about him and revere him in their life as gratitude for what he did. There is no doubt in their mind about what it was he did for them,as the experience was real for them.Despite their recount of the event, other people who never had that happen to them, question the verity of the story. It is not until they themselves are saved,no longer between the curbs on a road, can they lend some understanding to the truth of the story.

There are two judgements from God in the future. One is at the Great White Throne, where unsaved people answer to God for the life they lived.( Revelation 20:11-15)The other judgement is for Christians, called the Judgement Seat of Christ.( 2Corinthians 5:8-11 & 1Corinthians 3:9-15)) At that judgement,Christ will examine the" works"of believers and reward them accordingly.Saved people,in their desire to repay God for salvation, will do many things, only some of which are indeed what God wants them to do.Other things are their own works, which will never measure up to the standard of,being of God,and the rebuke of Christ then,is gladly received, only this once, and never again to be judged.Corinthians 6:1"We then,as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. In vain, would be to minimize Christ's work,by adding yours to it so as to save your soul.

"I know whom",1Timothy1:12,and I pray that you do, or will come to also.

Fred, the Spirit is gracing you with his understanding and his wisdom. My reply is not so much to you; but to others who read and respect your comments. Our process of dying to the flesh and being made alive by the Spirit is described throughout the word of God, but most are hidden in parables, metaphors, similitudes, proverbs, etc. This is the Spirit's doing because without the SPIRIT you can't understand.

    Example:

Zachariah 14:12 And this shall be the plague (spirit not natural) wherewith the Lord (Spirit) will smite ALL the people that fought (spiritually not naturally) against Jerusalem (spiritual not natural); Their flesh shall consume away (spiritually not naturally) while they stand upon their feet......FLESH AND BLOOD CANNOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

Revelation is especially symbolic and hidden from natural eyes. It also describes how we die to the flesh.

Isaiah 9:5 For every (natural) battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in (natural) blood; but this (spiritual battle for the kingdom of heaven) shall be with (spiritual) burning and FUEL of (spiritual) fire.

Isaiah 9:19 .....and the people shall be as the FUEL of the (spiritual) fire.....

Isaiah 4:4 When the Lord (Spirit) shall have washed away the FILTH or the daughters of (spiritual) mount Zion, and shall have purged the blood of (spiritual) Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the SPIRIT of judgement , and by the SPIRIT of burning.

Hebrews 12:29 For our GOD (SPIRIT) IS A CONSUMING (SPIRITUAL) FIRE.

Revelation 9:18 By these three was a third part of man (those called) killed (they died to the flesh), by the (spiritual) fire (Christ now in the form of the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit), and by the smoke, and by the brimstone.....

Revelation 20:5 But the REST OF THE DEAD (those who have not yet died to the flesh) lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the FIRST RESURRECTION (therefore there had to be a FIRST DEATH.

    May the Spirit grace you.
  • Mild Bill - In Reply on Revelation 20:14 - 4 years ago
    Davie Miller,

The second death is similiar to the first death, a separation. In the first death a person is removed from their body and our present position in the time/creation sense of "world". In the second death a person is sent to "outer darkness" apart from God for eternity. For a believer, the experience is eternally exhilarating and joyful. For someone who did not believe, there is torment simply because God is. You see, while here in this form of life, both believers and non-believers may neglect God in our thoughts, but once we leave here, God is never absent in our mind. When he really is in our hearts as Lord and Savior, we never lose our place in his heart, forever.
  • Chris - In Reply on Revelation 20:14 - 4 years ago
I believe that we need to understand what 'death' is when seen in the Bible. If you ask a man on the street, he will think of death as just a cessation of life & the body disposed of. But the Bible generally speaks of death as more than cessation of life on Earth, but of the requirement to enter into another dimension. When Adam & Eve were told that they would die if they disobeyed God by eating of that tree, indeed they would experience physical death, but much more, that death would take them into the next dimension of existence. So physical death (as in a deep sleep) is generally understood as a 'curtain' that we pass through into the next life. However, as in John 11:14, Jesus also spoke of just a present bodily death of Lazarus.

So when you read of a Second Death ( Rev 20:14), there must of necessity be a First Death. So the First Death is that first experience that we will enter as we close our eyes to this physical world & become aware of the next world. Even though there are other views on when & how this happens, my understanding is that if we are saved through faith in Jesus, we (our souls) are transported into Heaven (pre-Cross: there was a holding stage where the righteous & unrighteous were held: Luke 16:19-31)). But at Jesus' death & resurrection, those righteous were removed from there.

So the Second Death now only applies to those who have died without Christ, whether from days past or yet in the future. They no longer will be held in Hell suffering awaiting judgement, but at the close of the age, they, together with the Devil, his angels, the Antichrist & Death & Hell itself, will be consigned into the Lake of Fire for all eternity ( Mark 9:43-48). As for those in Heaven or in God's new heaven & earth (Revelation chapter 21) who will live into eternity in God's Presence, so too will those who have been sent to the Lake of Fire, be enveloped in continual flames for all eternity. Some believe in a reprieve - the Bible doesn't indicate this at all.

What does the bible mean buy the second death does it mean that your soul will be destroyed for ever like you never excised or does in mean you still burn for ever because death means you die so if God says they were thrown in to the lake and this is the second death. And death means to die wouldn't also mean the second death is your soul dies like you was never created I just don't understand what that verse means about the second death

Mike, "death is unreal" - Death is very real, in fact, there is a second death. Revelation 20:14 The first death is separation from the body/Earth, and the second is eternal separation from God and to the eternal torment. "The wages of sin is death" Romans 6:23 Very real, and nobody else in the scriptures had more to say about hell and damnation than Jesus.

Hebrews 11 is a testament about the old testament saints; but pay close attention to verses 39 and 40.

Hebrews 11:39-40 And these all (old testament saints), having obtained a good report through (the work of the Spirit of Christ or the Holy Ghost which is) faith, received not the promise (eternal life, incorruption, immortality):

(vs) 40 God (Spirit) having provided some better thing for us (children of the resurrection), that they (old testament saints) without us (children or the resurrection) should not be made perfect (complete in the Spirit of Christ or the Holy Ghost who only hath immortality 1 timothy 6:16).

    John 11:25 ..... I am the resurrection......

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us ( old testament saints, children or the resurrection and Christ) up together......

Revelation 20:5 .... this is the first resurrection....

Matthew 27:52-53 And the graves were opened; and many of the bodies of the (old testaments) saints which slept (died waiting for the promise) arose,

(vs) 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city (new Jerusalem)......

Revelation 7:1-4 (vs) 3 ......till we (Spirit) have sealed our servants (old testament) saints in their foreheads (given them the mind of Christ)......

Revelation 14:4 .......these (old testament saints) were redeemed from among men, being the FIRST FRUITS unto God.....

Revelation 1:3 .... for the time is at hand...

May the Spirit grace you with his wisdom.

Hades in Greek, or Sheol in Hebrew, is generally defined in these three ways:

    a. the Grave. A place of bodily rest & decay. Acts 2:29-31.

    b. a place of punishment for the wicked. Luke 16:20-23; Matthew 11:23.

    c. a temporary place for the righteous dead. Luke 16:23-26. The Luke account seems to indicate that hades had two areas separating the righteous from the wicked in death. But after Jesus' death & resurrection, the righteous are no longer held there, being justified by faith, for which the Cross provided the means now which they didn't have before Christ's death.

Hades will always oppose Christ's Church ( Matthew 16:18); it must be distinguished from being just synonymous with death ( Revelation 6:8); it will one day be destroyed ( Revelation 20:13,14); Jesus has the 'keys' to it ( Revelation 1:18); & it is remains now only a temporary place of the unbelieving dead, as the Apostle Paul believed that Hades would not be his destiny, but Heaven ( 2 Corinthians 5:8).

    John 3:16

For God so loved THE WORLD that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Last time I checked, that scripture still stands prominently in the Bible. Jesus was crucified for everyone. He suffered the wrath of God for everyone. Willingly. And He was raised up on the 3rd day. Victorious!

What you mentioned about pre-Genesis is called, "Old Earth Theory". It is a Cult of people that teach something that is not recorded in the Bible. "In Beginning" is when God created TIME. That is when the story began.

The whole ENTIRE BIBLE is about a PERSON. His name is Jesus.

    John 1:1-5

    1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

    2. The same was in the beginning with God

    3. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

    4. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

    5. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

If God had included a Book and Chapters about pre-Genesis; it would be in the Bible. But they didn't do that. The Book of John clearly explains that. God gave us archaeology, astronomy, and science to find HIM; to SEE HIM.

    Romans 1

17For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from FAITH TO FAITH: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

    18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and GODHEAD, so that they are WITHOUT EXCUSE.

21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him NOT as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Everything is fine and dandy, I love yours opinions and and your knowledge of the scriptures but there is lot that you all need to know before you be effective to Jesu, did you know that there are millions of years between the first verse of the bible and the second?,what was the name of the woman before the fall?Did you know that the creator became God of the Israelites in MT. Sinai but not of the rest of the world, thats why he became only god of the israelites.there are only two nations in the world the Israelites and the Gentiles and MORE.

Thats why people are confused about the coming of jesus in the year 2000 is not the end of the world is the end of the ERA, the believers ERA, Jesus will come in 1993 and pick up the believers, those that have receive Jesus will stick to him as a magnet and 7 years later they will come with him so he can have power and authority to touch down on earth and this the time when satan will be loch in the cave for 1000 years those 1000 years is what I call the seventh day the they of Rest

I feel that those in ch 20 verse 4 are those who have died in the seven years of tribulation as Gods people but have been marterred but the rest of the dead rightous and sinners will remain in there graves waiting for that last ressurection. Wouldn't that be why some in that last judgement will be saved and some will be cast into hell or the lake of fire. Maby those that miss heaven in the last judgement are those did not truly truly live for God but justified themselves. Just the way I see it.

Thank you Robynn for your comments/questions & if I may respond.

    1. Indeed, God's Love for all mankind is so immense & unfathomable that He continued to engage with us even when everything about us warranted our complete extermination. But that Love persisted as we read in Romans 5:8; 2 Peter 3:9.

2, 3, 4. 1 Peter 3:18-20. The focus in this passage is on 'the Spirit'. The same Spirit that brought Jesus back alive from the dead was also by the same means (i.e. the Spirit) that Jesus went to the spirits held in prison.

Now, this is the only passage we have on this visit by Jesus, though there are references to spirits in chains ( Jude 6; Revelation 20:1-3). And I realize that many Christians attempt to place the event in 1 Peter 3, to Jesus' visit at the time of His death. It could well be but we cannot be certain of this as we are simply given very limited detail. And in the context of Peter's writing, this visit was not his focus. All we know is that Jesus did visit at some point & specifically to those who were disobedient in the days of Noah; when that took place is not revealed.

And "how much does God love people?" As mentioned, His Love knows no bounds. But His pure Love equates to His pure Justice. And if we think that God's Love must also allow for sinners, whether they've come under the sound of the Gospel or not, to have a second chance to hear, repent & receive, then what is the point of preaching the Gospel now, why did the apostles & myriads of other faithful saints suffer brutally & horrible deaths, if there was a second opportunity for lost souls? "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." - no second chances, no purgatory.

It's a common misconception to say 'absent with the body is present with the Lord'. This idea originated from 2 Corinthians 5:8, but if you read the verse you will see it doesn't say if anyone is absent from their body that they are automatically with the Lord 100% of the time. Paul said he would "rather" be present with the Lord, or he would prefer that. Many Christians today would prefer that also. But just because you prefer something doesn't mean it will 100% guaranteed happen for 100% of all people 100% of the time, or even that it would sometimes happen. No, Paul only said he would "rather" for that to occur. Since the Bible says what it says and not what people commonly misquote, I do not interpret this as evidence to the theory that people automatically go to heaven after death. If there were other verses saying this, that would be fine, but I am not aware of any. Only taking a few verses and making an assumption about it, such as Jesus saying today he would be in paradise. Notice he did not say heaven, but paradise. They may not be the same thing.

If we are going to discuss this fairly we must consider what the rest of the Bible says on this topic.

Matthew 12:36 - People will be judged at some point on the same day. Is it likely that they are judged AFTER they go to heaven or BEFORE?

2 Corinthians 5:10 - People are judged first THEN they receive what is due.

Revelation 20:11-15 - People are all judged on the same day. Lots of people seen in the same place.

Because the Bible says this, it can't mean that people are judged immediately when they die- because not everyone is dead yet, and it can't mean that people go immediately to heaven if they aren't judged yet.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 says the dead will rise and those living will meet the Lord in the air.

Would it make sense for someone to go heaven, then back to earth to rise up, then back again to heaven?

It says people will 'sleep' in-between: Job 14:12, 1 Thessalonians 4:14

    Revelation 20: 13-15

13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Do people that were in hell still have a chance of being in the book of life?
